Szeth Pancakes he/they Posted August 31, 2023 Author Posted August 31, 2023 “We need to escape,” said Allera definitively. If the Beorin discovered they were wanted by the Kkhlei… Allera shivered.
Channelknight Fadran Posted August 31, 2023 Posted August 31, 2023 "Certainly. But we won't be able to by any conventional means."

I can definitely tell what's been flagged and what hasn't though." 1 minute ago, Channelknight Fadran said: "Have you flagged any of this ship yet?" She asked. "There is absolutely no way that a flag can be removed. That defies existence. They can't do anything to the air really, without hedra and stuff like that. And they don't have hedra. Or we would know. And flags are permanent. They aren't like scent markers or colored air, they're invisible, and affect general areas, and are permanent. That's like the first rule of Tempest."

Channelknight Fadran Posted August 31, 2023 Posted August 31, 2023 "That's the problem with mixing magic between universes. The rules are different everywhere - and generally speaking, your own magic will be weaker away from your home universe. Sometimes you'll lose access to it entirely, depending on where it's sourced. As for your permanent flags... there are millions of magic systems that Beorin has access to that are just as immutable, and with enough fenangling they could probably find a way to work around yours in a matter of hours. When unstoppable forces meet immovable objects, it's however you design the terrain that determines what ultimately comes out on top." Ayia crossed her arms over his chest. "If I had to guess, they don't have anything at their immediate disposal to directly counteract your Tempest. The best-case scenario for us is that they stop your domain from spreading after awhile, but the worst is that they can compress it down somewhat. Either way you'll probably still have access to your powers, but they'll be significantly more limited than they would be on your homeworld."

Now if it was around in this universe... There will be chaos. So I'll let you make the call on that one. It would certainly be more... Limiting. "I can tell if my air is being moved. For instance, I can tell where the ventilation shaft is in the first room we came through. My powers... They are much stronger here. They aren't chained by consequences or responsibility. I can use them much more liberally here than ever before. Or well, probably. Most likely."
Channelknight Fadran Posted August 31, 2023 Posted August 31, 2023 Quote I'm still sticking to the "has to somewhat follow the general laws of physics" thing so that we don't have to worry about any runaway multiverse collapsing stuff... but tell me more about this Otherside stuff anyway. (Also I know you said that "using Tempest attracts other Tempest users" was a magic system limitation, but like... no? That's a consequence. It's not baked into the magic system itself, so doesn't really count as a limitation in the classical sense). (Not that that changes anything, though).
NameIess Posted August 31, 2023 Posted August 31, 2023 Quote The Beorin could probably prevent him from marking more air somehow, correct? Perhaps by imitating his markers. And they could contain already marked air using magic or some other means. @Aeoliae

(The source behind the powers of strohger). It could be intresting but also with great responsibility comes great power so he "could" rip open a massive hole in reality and destroy everything. Does that make the decision better? Tempest does not attract other tempest. Uh. That might be the Elsepower, which is an alternative to Otherside, but would be much lamer. Its just a big force that (is similar to a high storm) hunts down excessive magic usage, although it still hunts even if no magic is being used and exists regardless of usage of power. Additionally, if we really have to I could change his powers to Winter, which is generated water-based structures that don't use flags ir weirdness. 2 minutes ago, Nameless* said: @Aeoliae Quote They've never seen someone from King's folly universe before so they wouldn't have imitated his magic, or the flags wouldn't have interfered.
