Is it rational? It would be a... Strange occurrence of tempest but definitely not unheard of.

But is the admiral wearing any armor or anything visibly strong?

"Hm."

The admiral turned to Variance next. "And yours is... quite odd."

"Is it?"

Would it be acceptable if it was detected more as a series of strange anomalies than as a specific energy?

Well the idea is that magical anomalies exist in their own rules, yeah? In terms of metaphysics you could explain them as manipulations within energy fields - even if it was a series of anomalies, they could eventually pin down how they work eventually.

Not even necessarily magical anomalies, but physical ones based on related detection systems. Because Variance can't make everything read every detail as though something like, for example, him, was physically there.

It's weird because his magic is based off of a sort of metaphysical idea of perception. I guess just do whatever you think is appropriate.

So like cameras would pick him up, but a lot of normal detection systems wouldn't? because his form is just 'perception energy' that makes people perceive it as something roughly similar to him?

Not perception energy, Perception. But yes, sort of. He doesn't have vitals, for example.

Anyway, I think we can go forward with Variance's questioning now? He could ask about some sort of magical presence, I guess, or just physical incongruencies that tip the guy off about him having some sort of power.

I'll ping you once since this is an edit.

"I am attempting for this interrogation to be as neighborly as possible, but I suppose not if you really insist."

"It really won't be of much use to you. It is a perception-based magic system."

"But it's more potent than a standard illusory magic, we've determined. After all, we aren't detecting anything remotely akin to a body, and yet those manacles stay on your wrists either way. It's as though you're crafting an illusion only to the touch of those clasps, but not to everything else."

"Nothing that complex. I'm simply obfuscating myself from your various detectors."
