Xaladin he/him Posted March 24, 2023 Posted March 24, 2023 (edited) Who would win in a race? (Ah, you thought I was going to say fight, haha?) Many of our favorite characters have come to earth to compete at a Track meet: no powers available, but in peak condition. Also ignore annoying things like earth gravity and oxygen level. We all know that the Alethi in particular are especially fond of friendly competition, so let the Games begin! We have: the 100m, 400m, Mile, 5000m, 10000m, Shot put, hammer throw, javelin throw, pole vault, and 26.2M marathon (cuz, what the Damnation? Why not). Also 400m hurdles. How would each character perform? Kaladin: Lean and mean, used to running several miles with heavy bridge. Also, he’s storming Kaladin. The Lopen: He may have two arms now, but he has had a lot of practice with asymmetric muscle action… Rock: Very strong. Don’t forget he also ran bridges too. Cord: Also very strong. Used to high altitudes too. Dalinar: It’s all about momentum. Renarin: Awkward and spindly, but not afraid to push himself to the limit. The kid is a machine. Radiant: Shallan has no interest in competing, but Radiant likes a challenge. Veil: After a few too many Horneater white, Veil got persuaded to enter. Different entry from Radiant (naturally). The Mink: He won’t cheat. Probably. Lift: Run like Darkness is comin for you! Yes you may carbo-load, but you know the rules, Lift. Alethi scout: just curious, really. They are, after all, professional runners. And is that a pole I see? Fleet: it turns out Hoid’s little tale was based on a true story. The actual person couldn’t literally outrun a Highstorm, but legends come from somewhere… Jasnah: Because Vorin gender norms are very stupid and, well, she has her reasons. Rysn: If you use a wheelchair with slanted wheels… Moash: not actually competing. He’s just on the side telling everyone they should give up. The pain is too much. Edited March 24, 2023 by Xaladin 5
TheSurvivorofDeath Posted March 24, 2023 Posted March 24, 2023 100m: Not sure. Kaladin or Fleet, maybe lift has some speed. Tricky. 400m: Kaladin or Fleet again, tough decision. Mile: Still a tricky tossup between Kal and Fleet. Everything else for running: Fleet. If he inspired a legend, even if a bit exaggerated, about outpacing a high storm across a continent, that man has insane long distance. Javelin throw: Lopen. He has practice with one-armed muscle movement, and knows how to handle a spear. Hammer throw: Rock. Man drew a shardbow. Without Plate. He’s insanely strong. Only lost javelins because he doesn’t know how to properly handle a spear. Shot putt: Also Rock. Same reason. Hurdles: Kaladin. Long legs. Not sure on the rest, and even these are up for debate 3
Through The Living Grub He/Him Posted March 24, 2023 Posted March 24, 2023 Lift for the 26.2M because she is so STARVIN' AWESOME. I agree on Rock winning Hammer throw and Shot putt. Fleet for the 100m. Veil I think would do well on pole vault. Lopen for javelin throw. 1
Xaladin he/him Posted March 25, 2023 Author Posted March 25, 2023 (edited) Some predictions for the Mile: Kaladin: 4:35 The Lopen: 5:15 Rock: 5:32 Skar: 4:51 Drehy: 4:50 Cord: 5:40 Dalinar: 5:03 Renarin: 5:20 Radiant: 6:39 Veil: 7:34 The Mink: 5:02 but with some accusations of cheating. No proof though. Lift: 5:24 Alethi scout: 5:08 Fleet: 3:55 Jasnah: 6:52 Rysn: 4:03 Moash: escorted away by the police. Edited March 25, 2023 by Xaladin
alder24 Posted March 25, 2023 Posted March 25, 2023 You know guys that Fleet was able to run faster than a Highstorm (like near 400 mph), and Hoid didn't tell us he had any form of invested art. So Fleet wins every race. Kaladin won't be even close to him.

At 400 mph, Air resistance would be an issue and Fleet is not a brass ferring. He is pretty spooky though so a sub-4-Minute mile is good. 1
