Rednolas Posted January 20, 2023 Posted January 20, 2023 Hey all. Not new to the Cosmere but new to the forums. My wife and I recently reread rhythm of war. I had a though in anti investiture. We know it exists and has a rather explosive reaction to normal investiture. If we can assume investiture is from Adonalsium could we assume there is a being of anti investiture. Or am I missing a mechanic here (which I totally could be ). Or ateast the potential for their to be an anti shard? 1

Or ateast the potential for their to be an anti shard? There appears to be a fundemental asymetry in the Cosmre(Just like our universe) there isn't any naturally occuring anti-investiture.

Was that done [on behalf of the anti-Adonalsium force]? Brandon Sanderson You’re focusing too much on this idea of an anti-Adonalsium. It—the original question I believe that was asked me was “is there a force that is opposed to Adonalsium” and it left me a lot of wiggle room. In other words, the people who killed Adonalsium, you could say were a force, any person who opposed Adonalsium... What they were trying to get was a “devil” but to do that you must assume Adonalsium was a more Christian-style God, and I haven’t confirmed any of that. Calamity Chicago signing (Feb. 22, 2016) Most investiture held by Shards and Adonalsium is in Spiritual Realm. If there was an Anti-being its anti-investiture would be also mostly in Spiritual Realm, which would annihilate itself with investiture that is already there. So you would be left with nothing. Similarly to how our Universe was created, slightly more matter than antimatter was created, for unknown reasons, and this lead to Universe being filled with matter. In Cosmere there is just investiture, and no anti-investiture.
IlstrawberrySeed Posted January 20, 2023 Posted January 20, 2023 The main thing is that investiture is turned into anti-investiture, meaning that it is more like using one magnet to invert another magnet. Investiture and anti investiture are the same thing in the same way that a wave and it's opposite are the same- just inversed. So, the ability for anti investiture to be created is there, but unknown(?).
