This is because Soulmagic is end-neutral. To get patience, wakefulness, or knowledge, you must steal them from other souls.

Souls dissipate when their bearer dies. However, some linger on as ghosts.

Anyone want to start on our next magic system sometime soon?

Sure. Next post, start off our new magic system.

And so, with the powers of the soul at their command, Soulmages are a force to be reckoned with

Some mages steal the pain of others, while some use their own pain.

However, if the pain results in death during or shortly after the ritual, the magic will backfire on the caster, possibly resulting in the temporary or permanent loss of the caster's ability to use magic. The more pain involved in the ritual, the longer the lack of magic.

It is a delicate balance.

Many of the most powerful Casters, as they are called, have access to some sort of dungeons. They perform great magic feats, using torture chambers specifically prepared to cause as much pain as possible without killing the victims. Using the pain of others means they need a lot more of it, though.

Sorry if that was too long or too dark for this happy thread of magic scholars.

Through mastery of these ancient runes, the legendary Emoji, one can perfect the harnessing of emotions. With enough knowledge, one can make the blow of a whip into a burst of fire that can melt rock.
