They both hate each other, and apparently, Kelsier is one of the only things that Hoid can physically hurt.

So, will we eventually be able to see a real fight between these two, with crazy levels of Investiture, dirty tricks, minions on both sides, and secret weapons revealed?

I'd pay good money to see that fight :)

I doubt it. Hoid can't hurt Kelsier now that he has his physical body back, so probably not for a while. Maybe in Era 4 or something like that.

What if Hoid still views Kelsier as dead, since he saw him dead at one point. Maybe then they could still fight?

I doubt it. He can't fight Fused, from what I've seen, so he shouldn't be able to fight Kel either.

Hmmm. Yeah, if he can't fight Fused then he probably couldn't fight Kel either. Unless he can fight Fused and he's simply been hiding from them to avoid Odium's observation...?

Possible. But it seems a little counterintuitive for him to be able to fight the Fused when basically the only limitation keeping him from being OP is the whole 'I can't fight people' thing.

Well, he still has to worry about certain Shards, and has mentioned before in the Way of Kings that he very well could die if Odium discovered him there. So he would have to lie low or risk being destroyed by divine intervention.

He doesn't have to worry about Odium after RoW. You think Brandon's going to give us something like Hoid being completely unleashed anywhere before Era 4?

Okay, that's a fair point.

Errr... haven't we forgotten how Taravodium managed to destroy one of Hoid's memory Breaths?

Also about Hoid unleashed... what if Taravodium accidentally breaks Hoid's Breath which contains his memory of being a Dawnshard, and suddenly Hoid's restraints disappear?

Those restraints aren't tied to memory, but to his soul itself.

I imagine this more as a Tom & Jerry kind of situation - not a straight up fight, but Kelsier trying to get him good and Hoid finding increasingly inventive ways to avoid him - while also hindering his greater plans where he can

I think that Hoid could totally fight Kelsier and the Fused, he was just avoiding Odium. And if there was such a fight, Hoid would just win. Because he knows how to world hop easily, if he just brings some friends like Frost of Jasnah then Kelsier can't do much. Also as far as we know Hoid has something like five Invested Arts and insane healing.

Yeah, Hoid unleashed would be crazy. He's a Lerasium Mistborn, a Lightweaver Radiant*, has Breath (at least 2nd Heightening-- at least pre RoW), has healing abilities at least as good as the best we've seen (preceding being a Radiant), and has access to various Invested objects apparently including S. Scadrian medallions (which along with being Mistborn means he can presumably Compound). He now probably has access to basically any fabrial currently known on Roshar, given that he's working with Jasnah against Odium.

And he probably has other powers from planets we haven't seen yet.

*With some possible compounding-like effects from being a Yolish Lightweaver as well- there's a WoB saying this combination is specifically dangerous).

Does he, though? As in, permanently? He obviously was able to "present" as the Sovereign for a while, but then where's that Sovereign now, if we have multiple, very strong WoBs that state he cannot yet go off-world from Scadrial?

Also, what Hoid says to Kelsier while giving him a beat down was "apparently, you being dead means I can hurt you." And as Zahel/Vasher states in RoW to Kaladin, a Cognitive Shadow - what he called "Type Two Invested Entity", and included the Fused, the Heralds, himself, and per WoB, Kelsier in that category - is a "dead man walking".

That would imply that Hoid could hurt him, or a Fused, or a Herald, ... but maybe not in the Physical Realm?

Or maybe he's just chosen not to find out? After all, he was surprised by that development at the Well of Ascension in the CR, but how and when would it be a good idea to test that boundary condition in the PR? Best just to assume he can't (as he has for all those millenia), right?
