Hey all you good folks, I want to provide a brief introduction to what I hope will be a somewhat consistent series here on this blog. Introducing "Wyn talks Anime", a place for me to write about my favorite anime, or review ones that I'm currently watching, hopefully with a little bit of me talking storytelling in general. So today we've got my spoiler-free thoughts on My Hero Academia season 1, alongside my musings on what makes an excellent first season of a show.

Ok so, this is being written as I'm listening to Revolver, which I must say is somewhat of a shift from their earlier work. Everything before it was somewhat similar, but not in a bad way. I had a long, long list of recommendations that I kept sitting on my to-read list. One of them, Garth Nix's Sabriel is still there... It took me a while but I got through it all to finally select the Final Empire. I had recently read the Wise Man's Fear (disappointment) and The Painted Man (disappointment). Updated my Stormlight Archive timeline again this weekend. Not an exciting update, but figured I'd write a post anyways.
The main changes on this version involved reconciling my timeline with (what I understand to be) Karen's timeline from the Oathbringer beta read, which Alice and Lyndsey have been referencing on their Tor Oathbringer Reread. They're almost through the entire book now, so I had quite a bit to work through. I shifted around a few of my dates to match Karen's where possible.

Deteca being able to Voidmake is a good way to see the core of her character development. Voidmaking is using the Void to just destroy stuff. It's not technically evil, but since hardly anyone can do it and those who can are DA, Deteca thinks of it as evil, like Hemalurgy (though that's not precisely evil either, and she somewhat knows that, but it's hard to get rid of prejudices). To me, the significance of her being able to use it is in the contrast. It's just another magic system, but it's on
