I just want you all to know, before I begin, that I’ve been hyped about writing this literally since I posted the last one. I’ve mulled over what to say, tried to remember parts...yeah. So that’s fun. (Despite this, I’m still managing to write most of this way too late at night.)
I’m posting it both in a status update and in my blog as a way of transitioning this tradition to my blog in the future. I’ve only done it once before, so does it need a transition and can I call it a tradition y
I took out some of the quotes in my About Me as part of revising it, figured I'd dump them here in case anyone wonders which ones.
"The Voidspammer sneered at me. "Do you actually think you can beat the mighty ToysRUs, human?"" - Me
"I give up it's Fred his name is Fred." - Arlin
Me in PMs:
Me: Let's make this a roleplay!
Some random Sharder: Wait, but this is an Oathbringer summary PM -
Me: ROLEPLAY.

If you do this, you absolutely must tell me the first few or at least the first one that you get, it is a rule. (I got energy matter manipulation, which sounds awesome, and solar vision, which as far as I can tell I see literally just seeing normally or looking at the sun or sunlight and being able to see anything.)

Ok so, this is being written as I'm listening to Revolver, which I must say is somewhat of a shift from their earlier work. Everything before it was somewhat similar, but not in a bad way. For some reason, certain songs reminded me of surf guitar instrumentals which I will occasionally listen to when I'm not in the mood for my usual playlist or my soundtrack music playlist. But I digress. Now, I've not listened to the Beatles much before this point (I know, I'm a heretic) but I definitely prefer

I had a long, long list of recommendations that I kept sitting on my to-read list. One of them, Garth Nix's Sabriel is still there... It took me a while but I got through it all to finally select the Final Empire. I had recently read the Wise Man's Fear (disappointment) and The Painted Man (disappointment). Both were rather... well... never mind!
My reaction to the books (the Cosmere ones not the two mentioned above):
I was aware of the hype surrounding Brandon's name at the time rega
Update #1:
What's good! Well, I'm good at getting enough sleep and drinking water. My lunches and dinners were prepped, calorie counted, filling, and delicious, so yay.
What's...so-so! So some exercise has been accomplished. One strength workout and one yoga workout (yoga is crazy ya'll, I had sore muscles I didn't know existed). And went running!
What's not so good! There is junk food everywhere. Helped out at church Sunday night, they provided pizza for dinner. Only had on
This is going here because I needed a poll but don’t know if the entire Shard would care about this if I put it in a thread because it’s so small. Anyway, quiz about writers! It’s really weird but I laughed, so. Enjoy https://uquiz.com/H524X5?p=211269
I’m a “fic writer on hiatus due to Going Through It but has been going through it for quite some time”, which, honestly, isn’t that far off...
u/Aradanftw on Reddit put together a post converting Roshar's spheres to US Dollars. So this is 99% their work and not my own! But I thought it was interesting and something that I might want to reference more often down the road. Perhaps I'll remember to add more things to it.
My main "contribution" was a push to reduce the values by an order of magnitude. The diamond chip was originally set at $2, based on the price of a loaf of bread. I'm not sure Aradanftw was entirely on board with thi
Updated my Stormlight Archive timeline again this weekend. Not an exciting update, but figured I'd write a post anyways.
The main changes on this version involved reconciling my timeline with (what I understand to be) Karen's timeline from the Oathbringer beta read, which Alice and Lyndsey have been referencing on their Tor Oathbringer Reread. They're almost through the entire book now, so I had quite a bit to work through. I shifted around a few of my dates to match Karen's where possible.

I’ve had the sudden realization that this is a place I can put polls about whatever the heck I want, which isn’t really something you can do elsewhere in the forums. Fair warning, I am going to abuse this feature.
Because this gives me somewhere to put it so I can reference it later, and somewhere for me to let other people see it, if anyone cares? So this'll just be random lines characters might say, facts about them, etc. in the comments. This stuff may or may not ever be mentioned in-RP, and will be for any of my characters who I think of trivia for. I'll be using the comments for this, but feel free to use them yourselves, if anyone wants to say something or has a suggestion or whatever!

This comes up in conversations occasionally and I've been meaning to write up a concise and simple explanation for a while now. So here we go.
But before I say anything else, I feel like I need to emphasize that I don't want to come across like I'm complaining about the books. Stormlight Archive is my absolute favorite series and this is such an obscure detail. Astronomy and orbital mechanics is a low-key passion for me (I blame Kerbal Space Program, mostly), so when I'm reading a book that

Deteca being able to Voidmake is a good way to see the core of her character development. Voidmaking is using the Void to just destroy stuff. It's not technically evil, but since hardly anyone can do it and those who can are DA, Deteca thinks of it as evil, like Hemalurgy (though that's not precisely evil either, and she somewhat knows that, but it's hard to get rid of prejudices). To me, the significance of her being able to use it is in the contrast. It's just another magic system, but it's on
Finally got around to something I've wanted to do for a long time. Make a globe of Roshar!
The site doesn't work very well on mobile, so here's some images:
First need to say thanks to u/Stoneward13 on Reddit who created the beautiful high-resolution map that I used for this.
The trick was getting the projection right. @Otto Didact identified the map from Oathbringer as an "azimuthal equidistant" projection while the "Map To Globe" site I used required an equirectangular p
