Light shine on that shaggy mare!

This might be off topic on Zinc compounding, but could compounding identity have helped TLR resist Ruins influence? I could imagine him taping that massive amount identity and be able to tell exactly which thoughts are really his.

I am all about this! (Mistborn are really cool, but Feruchemists are so much cooler in my opinion). But that still leaves a risk. Even if a stealrunner charged his gun, he still risks a chance that a strong enough coinshot/lurcher could manipulate his gun. I can't help but think of Vin yanking the bracers of the Lord Ruler. Of course she was charged up with the mists.... But at what point are you strong enough to manipulate invested metal... It's guess it's hard to gauge.

This is true for Humans. But I can't help but think of another question, that might merit another theory thread. I'll keep it to the metallic arts for this thread though. Considering the toxic nature of several of the metals, wouldn't having the sDNA to use any given metal make you immune to the damage that could be caused? Obviously the people on Scadrial have the sDNA to give them the possibility to become an allomancer or feruchemist. Just like how I should have had brown hair but ended up with a sandy blonde head of hair and a very red beard. Perhaps their sDNA would make, at least the ones with the abilities, immune to metal poisoning? So a coinshot might get lead poisoning if they consume pewter, but a thug wouldn't because they are made to burn it. Wouldn't a full feruchemist be (wired?) so that these poisonous metals would actual be natural to their bodies?

This, I like this! It seems so simple! Although, without being able to heal, if you don't sterilize your metals, your going to have a bad time.

Ah! I hadn't thought of coins! Carrying a pocket or pouch or purse of coins made of various metals for metalminds! You risk being mugged, but it really is less conspicuous, considering during the final empire being mugged is much better than being discovered as a keeper. Going along with that Lord Piff, that woven bracelet sounds like a great idea. I think I'd do it like this: Tin (for any given sense), gold, zinc, tin, pewter, tin, steel. So this way I have three senses, and some practical stores. The other arm could be exactly the same, with the extra tin holding an extra store of sight. This way I have all my senses, plus extra sight, and some quick emergency stores for pretty much any real life situation. And then maybe a coin pouch? A couple earrings? A couple necklaces with a charm or decoration of a different metal? Some kind of band around the thigh that wouldn't cause any inconvenience would be nice. Perhaps after I've had some sleep, I'll do some research, and creative design, and come up with a keepers perfectly acceptable wear, that doesn't make the keeper too obvious... Starting with woven bracelets..

the most useless uses for useful powers

Is there an Aon for open, or opening? ChayShan.... Charge..... Charge... Twist! There, it's open! -
During The Lord Ruler's age, keepers needed to hide their powers. I understand a lot of the jewellery they wore was just seen as traditional, but I have trouble believing the steel ministry would overlook a Terrisman wearing so many metals. So I've been wondering, assuming they are wearing, or have on them, a metalmind of every kind, how can we make it so they don't stand out wearing all that metal. Earings, bracelets, armbands, anklets, necklaces, these might all be fairly obvious, and having so many might look either gaudy, or suspicious. It's been a while since I read the first Trilogy, so I don't remember if it was explained. If you were a Feruchemist, how would you wear all your metalminds, while also, not making yourself stand out? Keep in mind, you need to have enough of any given metal to hold enough of a charge to be useful at any given moment. And also, there was a few times that Sazed just happened to conveniently be able to tap attributes he'd stored, which means what ever he was wearing most of the time didn't look out of place or suspicious. So it must be possible, and easy, for many keepers living among the rest of the world.

the most useless uses for useful powers

Stamp a child proof bottle lid to make it easier to open. Use the surge of friction to make a child proof ud bottle easier to open. Tap / Burn / compound Pewter to make a child proof bottle easier to open. ... I happen to have a headache and the ibuprofen bottle is hard to open. -
Sleepless. I'm a narcoleptic... This changes everything.

I use audible and have the speed set to 1.5. I didn't notice the accent changes (though I did notice that the accent Michael uses to read the letters is the same accent he uses for Sazed!) but I did notice the name difference, but was so minor it didn't bother me. The best part about listening at that speed was the numbers! They were hilarious! If you listen the Wheel of Time at that speed, the "flicker" part is just as amusing.

Connecting through Cyberspace: Duralumin in the Digital Age
Cstryon replied to Kobold King's topic in Mistborn
I think if Feruchemical duralumin as..well the Wheel of Time, specifically gray men and Taveren (spelling?). If I'm storing enough, I just become indistinct. I'm physically there not invisible, but I'll be hard to notice or pay attention to. When I'm tapping, I'll get everyone's attention. I might not twist fate, but people will be more inclined to listen, and maybe swayed? And of course all the gray areas in between.- 22 replies

"Real Life" Allomancy or How the second Trilogy might work

Beware Push-n-Pull, the two headed Lurch-shot. -
This post was so cool.

So I haven't read this yet... But episodes 28-30? Where are the rest? Is this something I need to get the MAG for?

As one that suffers from narcolepsy (which isn't just getting sleepy at inappropriate times, but also having episodes of insomnia) I'd have to pick bronze as my first choice. I'd live my life the way I have, and at times where I'm not hypersomnic or when I'm having insomnia, I'd store the wakefulness. Then when I am having symptoms, I can treat it. And since I'm already familiar with going through days where I just feel I need to sleep but can't, I am already prepared to deal with days where I'm storing wakefulness. My second pick would be electrum, mostly because a manic episode would be perfect for beating hypersomnia!

I think Nightblood had been hacked to be a spren on Roshar, and will be his nahel bond. If you think about it, Nighty is very honorable, as is understood by him. Now I think there will be new conflicts. Nighty acts honorable, Szeth acts honorable, but the current "official" group of Radiants have a completely different goal. Honor is broken, so I'm picturing several shattered factions of surgebinders earning bonds but not exactly allied.

Whoa, on that note, what if you awaken a shield with "defend evil"? I imagine it would be fairly useless, since NNightblood seems to have no real understanding of evil. The shield might just end up defending anyone holding it that is actively fighting. So the good guy could grab it and start swinging his weapon making the shield think he's evil.

"Real Life" Allomancy or How the second Trilogy might work
Cstryon replied to Pathfinder's topic in Mistborn
"I can't come to work, I'm sick *cough cough*. " "I thought you're a bloodmaker!" "That's why I'm sick!" "So you won't miss a day for a long time after this?" "*sigh * Yes... " -
The way I see it, tapping iron effectively makes me heavier, or more massive, storing does the opposite. Now being lashed in a direction makes gravity change for me right? So I'd assume that I'd still fall in that direction. If just be heavier or lighter as I did. I don't think I could cancel the lashing because the bond to gravity has been changed for me. So to avoid falling up I'd want to store weight, making air resistance slow my "fall" as apposed to trying to get heavier.

Awaken my working alarm clock with "don't wake me up". Awaken an object with "stay inanimate". Hmmm... Could awakeners make objects that way that can't be awakened by others? -
That random theory makes me really excited for Dragonsteel. It would be interesting to see if there are Yolish versions of more magic systems than light weaving. We might have to start saying yLightweaving and yferuchemy.

Tap wakefulness and then get very drunk. Wait... That might be useful.
