Storm light lasts longer than it should in urithiru !

I wasnt thinking it was a lie there, More that Shallan has to acknowledge truths to progress, lies she tells herself. She knows these lies, or is supposed to. I think pattern is reverencing her next oath/truth. And the kicker is she doesnt even know what the lie is anymore.......
-
Emphasis mine, This is new info to me! The thrill had driven the last unified Alethkar to glory........ interesting And perhaps even more important is this a hint??? If that isnt The Lie..... What is??? Emphasis mine again

I remember that, even the illustration in WOR, But its inclusion here is a chekhovs gun kind of situation. ( not to mention prime cosplay material as cool as it sounds) But Dalinar has Stormlight now, Real pain/injury can be managed via stormlight, and we know fabrials tend to work on an push/pull, attract/repulse kind of setup. I just cant help but think that a painrial will come to hurt him sometime in the future... Like I said it just makes me nervous...
-
"Set into the leather, it also had a painrial—a gemstone fabrial that would take pain from him if he pressed his hand on it. Navani had been working on various forms of pain-related fabrials for use by surgeons, and had mentioned using him as a test subject." I cant say exactly why...... But this makes me nervous ......

I was just ruminating on Kaladin, his propensity for teaching, protecting, and leading t, his Windrunners ability of lots of squires, And the Chapter title of "Squires Cant Capture" Note; this idea definitely plays off my hope to see Kal protect the helpless awakened Parshmen, and have them become his squires. My thought for what is going to happen in the next chapters is he is going to travel with them willingly, (we know Kal wont let himself become a prisoner ever again, so his surrender his fully of his choice) I think this pairs well with the chapter title Squires cant capture, the awakened parshmen cant capture him, they cant capture the wind. This in my book, is showing that yes the parshmen are a whole lot more complex, and they are definitely going to become squires. Thats my plug, lol, y'all can go back to debating Shallan's love life now

Parshendi Still communicated verbally they would just attune the rhythms to what they were feeling, essentially a beat all parshendi share. Whats interesting to me, and pointed out in an earlier post( ill edit with the credit ) is that there isnt any mention of the awakened parshmen speaking with any cadence to their voices ..... Credit Goes to Calderis for that observation

I may have jumped the gun a bit, But a statement like that, hidden around other tension from another event would fit well with the misdirection Brandon uses to foreshadow without us noticing lol. If we see any more like that we will know we need to pay more attention. For now probably best to wait for more evidence.

So whats the deal with the orange yellow streak of light that warned the awakened Parshmen, Thats a talking spren, the only others of which we have seen have been KR spren have been particularly hidden. Whats the deal with this spren talking and being out in the open for all to see. Thats really strange!

“Not that I know of,” she said. Her heart was beating quickly, her skin growing cold, her muscles tense. She fought against the sensation. “I don’t know where Plate comes from.” Guys,.... this really seams like a sander-hint , much like when she wouldnt think of her shardblade........

@StarkAdolin as highprince of Fashion! love it! On another note, do we know all the traditional Highprince roles ?
-
Oh Shoot your right ! Investigation the murder plus elevation to High prince. With the current assignment of high princes to war, information, trade etc. Dalinar was War. Any idea what position that would but Adolin in ? High prince of information since he is already investigating?

This conflict with the voidbringers is going to be a lot more complicated than anyone thought! Sailing, stealing grain, negotiating! it almost seems like the parshmen of each region are collecting the attributes of that region. Farmlands parshmen steal grain, sea based parshmen take ships, parshmen near Azir negotiate. ...... What other notable trades/exports could be important to them?

Ya I see what your saying, I really hope when the books arrive there are at least some of Shallan's sketches of her trying to capture parts of the city. Im having a hard time imagining the immensity of it! It would be really neat if in "the threads of a screw" chapter there was some artwork. It would go well with the callout to Shallan's taking a memory of it. I absolutely love the fact that we get such great art in the Stormlight Archive ! The material your thinking of may not be rock, It looked like a gray metal from the description in WOR, It made me think of the shardblade guards as well.

Small quibble, Sedimentary sandstone can be formed a couple different ways. Sandstone from compacted sand dunes and similar sources can and do have swirls and it dances in more ways than just horizontal layers. I agree completely you can find different layers of rock high in the mountains. I found this out first hand when climbing the Grand Teton this year ( the black dike is a large igneous intrusion in a sea of metamorphic granite). Metamorphic Gniess might be typical of swirling patterns as well. Either way the city was not formed naturally Just the imagery brings to mind sandstone swirls that have been polished through different cross sections for me.
-
I gotta say, All the descriptions of strata, especially alternating bands and colors trending to yellow, red, brown, etc are very typical of sandstone. What the heck is a load of sandstone doing in the high mountains.......

The way I read about the old spren having 4 genders, is that it is related to the listeners and their multiple genders. Humans weren't around yet to think in those terms so the listeners would have formed the old spren into 4. Any other thoughts about this :edit: stark beat me to it

I would be very surprised, He was so drunk he couldn't fight, not a whole lot of information to be gained from there I think.
-
@bleeder Thats kind of what i was thinking at first. But the text states that it was a tower of ten tiers, each with 18 levels . As fun as the symbolism might be it doesn't seem realistic the more thought i put in it.
-
Something i just picked up on, The tunnels dont go in natural directions.... why wouldn't they... We are in the home of the Knights radiant My mind conjures up ideas that the floor plan of ten of the levels is the glyph representing each order. The floors where the orders made their home might be the symbol for that order. Might explain the convoluted tunnels.... If that is the case, and there are 18 floors, 10 floors could be the orders symbols, what could make up the other floors? Edit: the more I think about this the less sense it makes to me.... carry on

Thats kind of what i was thinking, The thrill is of one of the unmade, so yes of odium's influence at least.
