  1. I'm assuming then that because Honor and Cultivation seem fairly compatible, and spren are a mix of both, that Surgebinding is their shared system? Is the third magic system a balance system between one or both of them and Odium, or something else?
  2. When you store eyesight while burning Allomantic tin, are you storing Allomantic or regular eyesight? Could you still get the increased visibility through the mists from tapping that, or would it just make your vision better?
  3. Allomantic pewter and Feruchemical steel would be a really cool combo, if I remember correctly and you can use Pewter to store speed.
  4. In order: Oh. I thought there was. Would've been cool. Ah, that makes much more sense. What I meant was that we've seen one magic system per Shard, with the possibility of more balance systems if the Shards are opposites like Preservation and Ruin. Shame. Electrum allows you to see a shadow of what's going to happen to you in a few seconds. I was wondering if that could be changed; if you see yourself being hit by an arrow, you move differently to avoid that happening.
  5. I wonder if the similarity in names is due to Hoid's influence?
  6. Couple of questions I've had sitting around for a while: Do the enhancement metals affect only Allomancy, only the Metallic Arts, or all types of Investiture? And can the external ones affect Invested objects? Is the fact that Surgebinding can affect humans but Allomancy can't have to do with Scadrians counting as Invested objects because of the power of Preservation and Ruin inside them? If no, do Rosharians also have a portion of a, or multiple Shards' power? Are all the Shardholders (sans Harmony) from Yolen, and are they all (sans Harmony again) the original holders? Does Feruchemical Spinning purely affect probability? Given that the Lashings infuse the target with Stormlight, if another Surgebinder was Lashed, could they use that Stormlight, or would it be inaccessable, like metalminds? Could you Forge an unSnapped Scadrian so that they had already snapped? Could a piece of metal affected by the Magnetism Surge still be affected by Allomancy? Why are there so many magic systems on Sel, when other Shardworlds only have one per Shard plus balance magics, and does it have to do with the state of Shadesmar there? When Vin absorbed the mists, why couldn't she detect new sources of power for the undiscovered metals? If an Electrum Misting moved quick enough, or was also a Zinc Ferring, could they use it as a type of precognition to change the future, like a poor man's atium?
  7. Second Ideal; the First is always the same. I like it, but it sounds kinda sinister. Then again, I suppose that's not exactly a point against it.
  8. Well, by the time they reach space, I don't think you could consider what's left as still being 'them'.
  9. They'd probably be more powerful. They would have control over all the fundamental Surges, which are basically the building blocks of Roshar, and I'm sure there would be some absolutely devastating ways to combine them; like with the Metallic Arts, only more potent.
  10. Actually, this brings up an interesting point. Has it ever been confirmed that the Feruchemical charge burns at the same rate as the Allomantic one for the same metal would?
  11. I just re-read Steelheart, and was thinking the same thing. But once again, we run into the issue of not knowing how Spinning works at all, in in any way whatsoever. (Nice username/pic, btw)
  12. Hmm... Double steel or iron are probably some of the coolest (infinitely fast/infinitely heavy ), but then again, all the compounding is OP. For daily life, I'd either pick zinc, bendalloy, electrum or chromium. In terms of coolness, I might also go Allomantic steel and Feruchemical chromium (never miss a shot).
  13. I have a few theories on this front, but the floor is open. The problem with any theories made, of course, is that we know so little about Spinning. First, and least interesting, is simply somehow managing to get them in a situation with no variables, allowing them to be killed. This of course assumes that they would not be lucky enough to avoid the situation. Second, somehow manage to use a combination of a Leecher and a Lurcher (sounds like a bad children's book) to remove their metal and metalminds. Once again though, we fall into the trap of them simply being lucky enough to avoid this scenario in the first place. Third, highly speculative, is to do with aluminium. As far as I understand it (correct me if I'm wrong), an Aluminium Gnat, far from having no effect whatsoever as is said in-universe, has the ability to completely negate all Investiture in the Misting's body. If this extends as far as Feruchemy, a Purger, as I would call them if I was right, would be able to walk straight up to the Spinner, completely ignoring their luck, and kill them. Perhaps, like copper, it might create a cloud with lessened effects on other people, but I'm just speculating now. Anywho, what think?
  14. Having trouble seeing the problem with this, seeing as you've just saved my brain from breaking. Ouch. I'm worried anything more I try to say is going to come out wrong, so I'll just leave it at that. This would be so very nice. Your curse is that you cannot hear anything he says.
  15. Ok, I'm not even going to begin to try and sift through here to see if someone's mentioned this already, but Summer Glau, while fitting Vin in all but age, would make a far better Shan. Go look at her as Isabel Rochev in Arrow and you'll see what I mean.
  16. I actually think Lift may have beaten you to that one. Your curse is that you can never touch anyone ever again. Also, your boon is the ability to pass your boon, the boon that allows you to pass your boon on, to someone else, giving them the ability to pass that boon, the boon that allows you to pass your boon on, to someone else, giving them the ability to pass that boon, the boon that allows you to pass your boon on, to someone else, giving them the ability to pass that boon, the boon that allows you to pass your boon on, to someone else, giving them the ability to pass that boon, the boon that allows you to pass your boon on, to someone else, giving them the ability to pass that boon, the boon that allows you to pass your boon on, to someone else... Rust and Ruin, my head hurts. I'd probably wish for Compounding.
  17. The very first person to comment on a theory of mine puts it far more eloquently than I did. Somehow, I suspect this will become a pattern.
  18. Greetings, salutations and other synonyms. I've been an avid reader of the Cosmere books for about six months now, and as such I read the TV Tropes page, which lead me to the Coppermind, which lead me here. After lurking on-and-off for a month or two, I've finally decided to make an account and become more involved with the community, and I'm definitely not just doing it to hopefully, someday, get my stupid, inane questions through to the big BS. Not at all. In any way. Whatsoever.
  19. Hypothetical scenario time! Wax, Wayne and Marasi are standing in a room. Wax Pushes a coin outwards, and then, simultaneously, Marasi creates a cadmium-bubble the size of the room and Wayne creates a bendalloy-bubble around the three of them, leaving them standing in regular time while the rest of the room, including the coin, which is now moving quite slowly, is in slow-time. Wax then moves around a little and Pushes on the coin from a different angle. How does the Push affect the coin? Okay, I just realized I made this sound like a textbook question, but I genuinely want to know if we know, if that makes sense. Does the Push 'slow down', and act like it normally would, but in slow-mo. Or would it work differently?
  20. Depends how much the Spinner is tapping and for what period of time, IMO. If these two just meet and start fighting and using their Investiture, then it depends on the former, as if they were lucky enough an outside element would probably win the fight for them. if they only had enough luck for small things, the Seer would win. But, one would imagine that if one was a Spinner, then one would have their zinc on pretty much all the time on a low-level tap, meaning they'd probably either avoid the fight entirely, or inadvertently create a situation where the Seer is at a disadvantage. Obviously, this is limited by our practically non-existent knowledge of Spinning; if it simply manipulates present events to the Feruchemist's advantage, then there aren't really many things it could affect in a fight against a Seer (no elements of chance). But if Spinning works by making things always go right, possibly retroactively, then it could turn out that the Seer's atium was actually a thin layer around a ball of lead.
  21. First off, seeing as this is my first post on here, I'm not really sure if someone else has already expounded this (frankly fairly weakly conjectured) theory, so if they have, sorry about that. Anyway, both Shardblades and Hemalurgy work with Spiritwebs, yes? And we know that Shardblades create a bond with the Spiritweb. So what I was thinking is that maybe instead of simply creating a bond, Shardblades (the present-day versions, not Radiantblades), they work more like Hemalurgy and tear off a part of the Spiritweb to create said 'bond', something that could have changed after the Day of Recreance. It would explain why spren, or at least Syl, dislike the blades, as rather than them being representative of Odium or something like that, they are simply fundamentally broken.
  22. Shard of Mustaches Shard of Orange Shard of Nausea (which, now that I think about it, could at least be somewhat close to the Silence Shard) Shard of Peckishness Shard of Phobias (Actually, this one could be good) Shard of Montages Shard of Confident-ish (Yes, i'm just cribbing the Stanley Parable, deal with it)
