  1. It is hard to tell without knowing all the shards, in Mistborn it says that "with every push, there's a pull" which would prove useful for your theory because on that table there would be opposites such as Preservation and Ruin. Once all the Shards are known then it will be easier to either confirm or disprove that theory. But since the Cosmere often follows a pattern, it should work one way or another. Good theory.
  2. HAHAHAHAH!!! best post ever

    Why Marsh?

He is Ruin, does he need a reason? And if he does, It could be that he wants a tall person as his champion so he is intimidating; but as this time, people would still be scared of inquisitors. But it may be a contributing factor. The Lord Ruler figured out that Bronze Mistings made good inquisitors because they can easily find other allomancers. I thought that this could be a reason for him choosing Marsh, but as seen when Vin becomes Preservation he can see when people are using Allomancy, therefore ruling that out. Also I thought that it was because he was part of the crew in the revolution and so the rest of the crew would be hesitant to fight Marsh, however at the end of Well of Ascension Sazed fights Marsh and is content on killing him quite quickly and therefore ruling that out. I think that this is probably part of the reason, because he was using Kelsier's brother he was taking precautions so that he could divert his attention and take control of him quickly. And it probably just happened that in taking control he gave him so many spikes. Ruin enjoys breaking things, and takes pride in dragging out the destruction. It also says that he builds things to destroy things more efficiently. So he may not only have wanted to build him up to kill everyone in the crew but also to destroy Marsh's mind in doing that.
  4. There is also the fact that certain shards can see further into the future depending on their Intent... But even so... when Vin became Preservation for that short time, her and Ruin still had a similar amount of power. Also, when Preservation took the form of the 'mist spirit' in the Hero of Ages, he was weaker and thus allowed Ruin to kill him. Could it be because Honor presented himself in this same way in order to give Dalinar the visions, that gave Odium the same opening to kill him and shatter the shard
  5. When your girlfriend is on her period... and you tell her that she is being angry because she is being manipulated by Ruin and rip her earring out. (works everytime)
  6. This happened to me twice just last week
  7. The stick viewed itself as a stick... the spren that made it that thought of themselves as what they made up. The spren view themselves based on your personality... not by how someone else defines you. for example, if you took the bead that represented Shallan, it wouldn't say I am an opportunist foreign girl who is secretly trying to assassinate her betrothed... that's how Kaladin views her. It would represent who she is... at least that's what I think. And didn't Kaladins mother say that everything has spren?
  8. Since there are Worldhoppers there must be at least one Mistborn or Coinshot/ Lurcher that have hopped to Roshar... I don't know what shardplate and blades are made of. But I wonder if an allomancer that can push or pull on metals could do so with shardplates or blades... Atium is the god metal for Ruin and yet Mistborn can burn it regardless, and mistborn are of Preservation... could this be because Preservation and Ruin are perfect opposites... and then again, the metallic arts are there because of the presence of those specific shards... If a mistborn hopped to Roshar, would the absence of Preservation and Ruin cause them to be powerless as far as allomancy goes... I think not because Scadrians are born with a small part of Preservation which wouldn't change if they went to a different world... Therefore I propose that if Ruin and Preservation's powers can be affected by one another, then Allomancy should work on Roshar. And that means that a Mistborn would be able to push on a shardblade. Any thoughts?
  9. When you find yourself trying to use Brass on your teacher as they get mad at you for not doing your homework... Or trying to lift something heavy and wondering how how much easier it would be with Feruchemy... Or cutting vegetables and having a random desire to try cutting them with a shardblade... Or start cursing like someone on scadrial... Lord Ruler that gets annoying!!!
  10. I know that the Coppermind Wiki isn't the most reliable source... and I haven't finished WoR as I have said before, but it says on the Wiki that anyone can use an Honour Blade. And Szeth's ability to dismiss and recall it shows that he has bonded with it to some extent. Has Szeth spoken the oaths...? because if he hasn't that may be the connection to why he can use the blade and gain power from it but not being influenced by the intent of the blade. Syl says that 'no spren guides him' or something to that effect. So I am thinking that to be truly bonded with the Honour blade one must still speak the oaths seeing how the there is supposed to be a herald and a blade to lead each of the sects of the Radiants. This is based off the limited knowledge though...
  11. I forgot about that... Coppermind Wiki says "Soulcasting allows the Surgebinder to transform any material into one of the Ten Essences. The Soulcasting of other materials is also possible but not as simple to accomplish." And by 'other materials' I assume it means living things... but then again, doesn't everything have a view of itself in a way... so soulcasting a person or thing is possible, but like we see with Shallan during and after the shipwreck that it is just a matter of convincing the spren to change form
  12. I haven't finished WoR yet... and I may be mistaken but doesn't Jasnah soulcast people in WoK when they are in the dark alley or is that something different? Cause Soulcasting they change an object to a different one... so I thought that was what Jasnah did with the thugs in WoK
  13. How do you only like Mistborn 'somewhat'...? It is like the best book series ever
  14. Several of my friends are writing books at the moment and they all add characters that are clearly based off of themselves... however, because they are my friends it is easy for me to identify connecting traits from the character to the actual person. having read just about all of Sanderson's books with a few exceptions, I have yet to see a character that I think is based off of Sanderson. If I were Sanderson and had this complex book series with people that world hop between books I would want to be someone who appears in every book... not just one. So I am thinking that if there is a character that he based off of himself it would be Hoid... for several reasons. Hoid is in just about every book that he has written very little is known about Hoid at this point and so he can get away with it for now Hoid has an awesome combination of powers from all the worlds that he has visited... probably some that we do not know about as of yet. Any thoughts...?
  15. That is Spren-did hahaha get it... yeah sorry that was a bad Pun.
  16. Fair enough... except Vin Diesel sounds too much like a boss And stick is just like a little derpy derp
  17. Ok... the amount of Frozen jokes that have appeared just because of your photo is absolutely hilarious... sitting in class right now I almost started laughing. I would say that with all the Words of Radiance business that is going on, the Stormlight archive should be on the top of your reading list... after Mistborn of course. Note that the first part of WoK is kinda boring, but gets so exciting in the second part and in WoR that my head nearly exploded... twice But I think that finishing Mistborn up to Alloy of Law would be good cause Mistborn is the best. And I agree that although Warbreaker isn't Sanderson's best work... it lets you appreciate the awesomeness of his other books... specifically the Stormlight Archive.
  18. Ok... Primary power would have to be Telekinesis because I wouldn't MIND having those powers (and because I am an Epic that makes that pun an Epic pun.) Anyway, secondary would be epic fighting skills cause Newcago is one nasty place. I am not going to say my weakness... because who would post their weakness online!!! Cheesy name would be The Telophase, because the Tele part fits with my primary power and because the Telophase is a cell that is in it's final stage of Mitosis; and anyone who crosses me would be in the final stage of their life. when using either of my powers I tend to over-use them which is why I would be infamous for over-killing people And the costume has to be spandex, can't have powers and not wear spandex... of course I would have a wide variety of colors to mix it up
  19. While "Connor the Shardholder" played his hand at converting me quite nicely until we had nothing else to do, he has to admit that Brandon does most of the work. After returning to Australia I gave final empire to four of my friends who have now all read Mistborn, WoK, TES and one of them has read Elantris. not only have I done that, but after hooking those guys I got my school librarian to get more Sanderson books so everyone else can feel the magic. We have had hour long discussions about the Cosmere and how everything relates to everything.
  20. I also think that Jay Baruchel would be a funny Spook, and at first I thought Morgan Freeman for Sazed but then I thought not because while he would make a good servant I can't imagine him with big muscles fighting Koloss. I think that because Breeze is manipulative and sassy, Alfred Molina could play the part and look ok in old clothing... again like sorcerers apprentice.
  21. I personally think Robert Downing Jnr is an amazin choice for Kel because he can play funny, egotistical and serious/ angry. And he did well in the Avengers and in Ironman which proves he play in action movies. I suggest Bruce Willis as Clubs because would be a good angry, old, war damaged character. And I think that the guy that played Loki in the Thor and the Avengers would be a fantastic Lord Ruler, in fact I want him to be the lord ruler so bad, Tom Hiddleston is his name.
  22. I went to the book signing in Sandy, Utah today and asked Brandon this question: "In Way of Kings Hoid gives Kaladin the travelers flute and when asked about it's origin says that it is from a distant land; then in Well of Ascension, Vin follows the Well's pulses to Kredik Shaw where a small wooded flute is mentioned among the Lord Rulers old Terris possessions, coincidence or connection?" Brandon replied: "There are coincidences in my books however there are more connections then coincidences." he then confirmed that "the flute is not native to Roshar." He doesn't directly confirm the question however there is no other mention of a flute and it has been confirmed that Hoid went to the Well before Vin took the power and retrieved a bead of Lerasium which is why I suspected the connection.
