  1. All the death rattles refer to something that hasn't happened as of the time they were given. I think there was a WoB on that.
  2. I made a post about the continent shape, the highstorms, and the coriolis effect a few pages back. No confirmation on it
  3. Do you mean the helm that Kaladin used during the duel? It sucked away his Stormlight because it was cracking, and trying to repair itself. When he ran out it exploded.
  4. Oooh, nice catch there skaa! I like it!
  5. It's the B&W map of Roshar in the front of either book.
  6. It's certainly a possibility. And I agree, there is probably a connection. A lot of things began around that time, so it makes you wonder if the timing is significant. Back to the topic, the Unmade could be responsible for other things besides the Thrill and the Death Rattles. We only know of the effects of a few of them, and their actual number has yet to be determined. I can't image they'd be related to anything as possibly-benign as Luck, though. The Black Fisher and Sja-anat at least sound extremely nasty.
  7. lol, yeah maybe he burned himself, too. That would explain the skin aflame! *Gasp* Revelation! All the death rattles are about baking! Actually I just have like, 3 copies of the 2 books-hardback, kindle, and ebook, so searching is really easy. Although I DO have a Sanderson folder on my desktop...(named BS, don't judge). I think we have to take the death rattles as written, otherwise there's just no way to ever analyze them. Although the "Odium Rains" thread is quite amusing It wouldn't hurt to ask Brandon (or Peter!), but I'm fairly certain that's what he'd say.
  8. The highest I saw was 142 seconds pre-death. There were a lot that were 8 seconds. Most seemed under 30. Only one other trailed off:
  9. Well all the death rattles are of things that haven't happened yet, iirc, so it can't be a reflection of the past. I didn't even think of the Nightmother being the one who reigns.
  10. I wonder if this means that at the end of the fifth book, they manage to revive/speak to Honor (or the Stormfather). And maybe the only way to stop Odium is for Honor to sacrifice himself, and he refuses. Or a more sinister interpretation: The First Ideal calls for Life Before Death. Possibly one of the new KR needs to sacrifice himself, but, unknowingly, chooses to live and so fails. It's also suspicious how it trails off, like there might be more to it. "The choice of honor is life..." but they chose death? ...life before death? Ideas? Am I crazy?
  11. Did Gavilar find the sphere on the Shattered Plains? Maybe it's like a lodestone for them? Or a repellent?
  12. So if the KR weren't founded yet, then it would be before the Heralds abandoned their oaths, which means if Jezrien had stayed, 1. The other Heralds would have known about it, and 2. Another Desolation might have started (if all the Heralds stayed).
  13. Oh! Thanks, added! Incidentally, does anyone know if Allomany, Feruchemy. Hemalurgy, Surge, Shard, and their derivative words should be capitalized or not?
  14. Maybe "broken" refers to his mind, rather than power, etc. The second letter speculates that he's more of a force than a personality now. I imagine millennia as pure Hatred messes with one's thought processes.
  15. Sorry, what?
  16. Aren't garnets reddish-purple on Roshar?
  17. I got mine a couple days ago; it took 1 week. I already read them both
  18. These are as close as I could find.
  19. I don't think the sphere has anything to do with the Unmade at all. I think it's something different that we don't have enough information on. We're pretty sure that Moelach and Nergaoul (Thrill, I think) are moving, and unless someone found where Szeth hid the gem, it's not going anywhere.
  20. He thinks he's Taln at the least, so he isn't pretending on purpose. Would there be a relevant difference there, I wonder?
  21. I noticed after a re-read of a lot of his books all at once--the villain is always the quiet one! Seriously though. Bluefingers, the monk from Elantris (can't remember his name...), Vin's "friend" in the thieving gang (that betrays her intention to leave), Marsh, Moash, Jakamav, they are all ones who've earned the protagonist's trust and/or friendship, and then turns on 'em. I feel like I can guess the betrayer by whoever is the nicest, that we don't get a viewpoint from.
  22. Hahahaha. Sorry, I did so much copying and pasting, I must have just overwritten it without realizing. I didn't make it up, I swear! Back to the subject...I'm not sure what the not-so-broken Oathpact would mean to the other 9 Heralds. Would that make them more, or less open to Odium's influence? Hmmm....
  23. (Psst, wall o text ) The only semi-plausible explanation I can think of is if a hemalurgic spike can contain Identity, maybe whoever this is was spiked with one of those, that has Taln's memories in it. Or, the spike is allowing Something Else to speak through him. Though you'd think someone would have noticed a hunk of metal sticking through him lol. Hey crazy theory! Maybe the spike-like sword is also a hemalurgic spike!
  24. Maybe the first half will be saving Roshar, and the second half will be defeating Odium?
