It was probably Taravangian. I think he had hints on the voidbringers being the humans being the cause of the Recreance, and so wanted that asap in order to mess with Dalinar. Wasn't he one of the ones that got the translations first, in the meeting between the rulers?

Please let's not turn this into another shipping thread. There are already plenty of those. Take the shipping there.

There's a question of whether a new Oathpact would even work. The Fused don't return to Damnation at all any more. They float around in the Everstorm until they find a new body. The Oathpact kept them from leaving Damnation, but they're not ever even going to Damnation, being kept from coming back isn't very helpful.

To Silent Night Empty Night, Hear my plight. All is gone, All is Night. Holding on, the last of my will, Chasm with water will rapidly fill, Lies and hatred have won. Lies and hatred have won. Empty Night, Hear my plight. Venli hear, My despair. Do not trust our gods' violet lies, Turn your heart from deception and spies. Lies and hatred may win. Lies and hatred may win. Empty Night, Hear my plight. Hear my words, Little Light. Find my sister and help her to see, Truth and joy e'en without me. Lies and hatred can't win. Lies and hatred can't win.

[OB] Why is Renarin the wildcard in the Diagram?
RShara replied to Song's topic in Stormlight Archive
I still think this is just because Renarin's supposed to be dead, now. So he wasn't supposed to have any more future. If Odium hasn't realized that Renarin's still alive, that would explain why that area is dark. -
Nale's been doing that for a while.

Happy Solstice, everyone. Let's do some Cosmere themed holiday carols to bring some extra brightness to our lives! I'll start with this, set to the tune of "12 Days of Christmas". Mild Oathbringer Spoilers, which is why it has to be in this forum. On the Twelfth Day of Weeping, my Highprince gave to me Twelve Living Shards, Eleven Spren A'Spinning, Ten Heralds Leaping, Nine Odious Splinters, Eight Princes Squabbling, Seven Books for Writing, Sixth of the Dusk, Fiiiiiiiiiiiiive Thousand Breaths, Four Mistborn Eras, Three Realms United, Two Twinborn Twins, And a dark Blade in a Bright Sheath. Let's hear yours!

I think Szeth can read/write/speak a lot of languages. He went through a lot of training with the Shin before he ended up Truthless.

[OB] Why is Renarin the wildcard in the Diagram?
RShara replied to Song's topic in Stormlight Archive
I'd go with option 1. He changed his future. He was supposed to die. The Diagram, and Odium's foresight, both predicted his death. Since he's not dead, he's unaccounted for, and his actions haven't been/were unable to be predicted. I would guess that if Odium paid attention or if T re-wrote the Diagram, he'd be able to predict this new series of events. But they haven't or can't, so they have no idea what a living Renarin will do. Also, you probably want to make the topic of the thread a little more generic, per the spoiler policy at the top. -
The storm/the fall killing him is cannon. I would assume any First Edition would have the original.
-
No, he says it to Nale after the battle.

Oh man, I just finished the GN version and this is EXACTLY how I felt about it. I read the Prose version some time ago and enjoyed it, but the GN was awful. I swear, in some of the Mastrell scenes, there were more arms and legs than could be accounted for with bodies. Kenton looks like a pouty boy in most of the scenes, and the people just generally look like scribbles. That Khriss entrance. THAT KHRISS ENTRANCE. This post has been reported for attempting to skirt the rules? What is she wearing? Why does she look like she's out for a day at the beach? Where is all her character building? The most knowledgeable person in the Cosmere, reduced to a runway strut. Ais is a woman? Why did they need to change Ais to a woman? A man can't be conflicted about his job, religion, and family? Or was it because there weren't enough women in WS? Don't get me wrong, I think women ARE under represented in lots of mediums, but I'm not sure what genderbending Ais does for this novel? Women acolents? Ummm I'm pretty sure that Kenton says there are no women sand-masters. Yeah this was not a good adaptation in any way that I could see.

We don't know that. We know he supercharged Kaladin and that it exhausted him. I'm not sure how he could supercharge Kaladin without summoning the Perpendicularity. But either way, the point stands--supercharging someone with Stormlight exhausts him.

I think renewing the Oathpact with new Heralds would be stupid. It's proven that it doesn't work. Doing it again is a dirty bandaid on a cut the size of Taln's Scar. Some other solution needs to be found.

[OB] Is Ulim the Spren in Gavilar's Sphere?
RShara replied to Wit Beyond Measure's topic in Stormlight Archive
I disagree. "Crystalline sphere" I feel means a crystal of some kind in the shape of a sphere, not a regular money-type sphere. Brandon chooses his words very carefully, and I think calling it a "crystalline sphere" is intentional phrasing. Otherwise he would have used "A crystal in a sphere" or just "sphere". Afaik, there's no gem cutting design that could be called "crystalline". Navani's notebook discusses how fabrials involve gems with spren trapped inside, which, I think, is the hint Brandon was talking about. He also says that the answer to what the sphere was is in Book 3, which really implies that it was Yelig-nar. -
Nale also admits that the code of law is created by men, so the code of law can't be very much superior to the men who made it.
-
Dalinar only has unlimited Stormlight when he's summoned the perpindicularity, though. Which exhausts him. Normally, he relies on gemstones like everyone else, I would think.

One of them, at least, contained Yelig-Nar. -
