Proposed Physics Model for Steelpushing: Elastic Collisions

Bravo. Just bravo. I have nothing more to say. -
Cosmere Monopoly (Now Cosmere Domination)
PorridgeBrick replied to Jo and the Bush's topic in Creator's Corner
Maybe replace free parking with Shardpool? I don't ever play Monopoly, so idk. -
Oh yeah. What he said. Right. Just talking about great names in general. Clearly not mistaking Slowswift for a Returned. Clearly.

Rust.*facepalms*It's even worse when my avatar is facepalming over me too.

Iirc Slowswift was a great one.

Nope, it's one of the central limits of all Cosmere magic systems. Lightweavers can't Soulcast sticks, non-Scadrians can't make waffles. It is a magical ability even Hoid can only dream of attaining. Cue the inevitable upvotes for mentioning the Stick in my post.

Hmm, this insubordination is troubling. I'll have to do something about that. A-ten-SHUN! What is the meaning of this, Sergeant Harris! I tell your unit to move out, and what are you doing?! Playing CARDS. My men, playing CARDS while an erroneous downvote is still out there, running free! Do you like playing cards, Sergeant Harris? Or should I say, Private Harris? No, don't answer. If you opened your mouth, your breath would sully the air. And YOU! What are you looking at, Corporal? Do you wish to join Harris' little game of CARDS here? Be my guest. I'm sure you'll enjoy sharing his new rank as well. Oh, why so hesitant now, Corporal? I thought you liked cards. Certainly Harris does. Hey, Private Smith! Who are you laughing at, Private Smith! Do you find this FUNNY, Private Smith? Are you laughing at your former commanding officer, Private Smith? I thought I taught my men better than that. Perhaps a day of cleaning latrines would teach you more respect, Private? You certainly won't be lonely, with Private Harris working with you. Though I question which stench would be worse, Harris or the latrines. Do you have any idea, Private Harris? Corporal York, I believe I already mentioned something about laughing in the presence of your superior officers. Storm it, latrine duty for the lot of you! You make me sick, men. You make me sick. Problem solved. Oh, and I actually changed my avatar because I noticed someone using the same picture. Szeth seemed like a good idea, so now he's my avatar. Now I can facepalm annoying posts without even saying anything .

Seeing as even Brandon just got past Mistborn pretty recently, it's going to be a while before you reach Fullborn/TLR.

Gah, meant to upvote this instead of downvote. Upvote Brigade, move out!

5. Hoid stopped by because he enjoys making fun of Horneater beards. Clearly the most likely option.

Hemalurgy doesn't seem to take much Investiture at all, however. A pin or earring can hold just as much as you can get with a giant metal stake. A metalmind, which is hardly Invested too, should easily fit a hemalurgic charge. I believe we've even got a WoB about some Inquisitors using their spikes as metalminds. A Forged spike, or one engraved with an Aon, could probably work too. You'll only start seeing problems once you reach the Nightblood or Shardblade level.

I agree here, but not for the reasons you're thinking. From a purely plot-based standpoint, I think the power will come back– several of the new feruchemical powers are pretty much meant to be used in conjunction with the rest of the feruchemical abilities, and I don't think the internal Enhancement metals will be consigned to uselessness forever. However, it is entirely possible for there to be Mistborn without the introduction of new power. Even prior to the introduction of Lerasium a thousand years before the Mistborn trilogy, Brandon has said there was a very, very low amount of Allomancy in the population. Even then, when the power was nearly nonexistent, he has said it is theoretically possible to be a Mistborn, just statistically very, very, very rare. Compared to then, it is much more likely now, if still very, very rare. And besides, there is the AoL plot to breed a Mistborn, so clearly it is possible. Plus, he could be Spiked for all we know.

Unfortunately, not until we get someone to confirm it. The book seems to point to that, certainly, but from Inkthinker's comments there might be some significant fudging going on here so we can't know for sure.

Cool theory. Just a thought, however. I think Shardplate/fabrials should require a significantly smaller investment than you are describing. All the combat orders, very possibly all the Radiants, have Shardplate. Each has one spren, yet Shardplate as your theory dictates needs a lot of spren to sacrifice a considerable portion of their power. For this to be possible, any spren should be capable of producing at least several fabrials from their power instead of just 1-2. Factor in the other fabrials, too, and then they probably have the capacity for anywhere from 6-12 (depending on how available old-style fabrials are). Also, a capacity of Shardplate you missed. It absorbs lightning from the Parshendi. Not sure what Surge that could be, but it's worth mentioning.

1&2. This supports it being Windstance more, however. Shallan wasn't there during the Ironstance fight, and Adolin's preferred stance is Windstance. He only used Ironstance to make a quick and brutal win, and there's no indication he fought that way in any of his other fights. 3. Sounds like he's chopping down a la splitting logs to me.

He changed his mind on this one, apparently.

Perhaps Honorblades work like Allomantic Savants– you don't reach full power unless you use it a lot.

I don't think he meant to let them go, really. He probably intended to just go to the planet, destroy everything, and move on a la Sel, but they flew to Roshar so he hunkered down and set up camp on the vacated planet. Then the Oathpact comes, and in return he gets the Heralds right where he wants them, tortured on his homeworld for managing to get away from him.

He never said it wasn't combat ability. He just said that they had an unusual number and strength of squires. There's nothing that says there can't be two abilities.

2. Suction cups. Basically, the weight of the entire atmosphere is always pressing on us from all directions. Suction cups create an area with less gas and so less pressure underneath the cup, and the atmosphere thus presses the cup hard against that surface from the difference in pressure. The full lashing works under the same principle.
-
Fair enough. I'll still stick to it, though. The coolest theory is always the funnest outcome, after all.

Michael Whelan's Preliminary Art for Words of Radiance
PorridgeBrick replied to Argent's topic in Creator's Corner
Uggh. Why didn't he stick with colored Kal? Much better composition, and there isn't the ridiculousness of Szeth perched on a pile of bodies while Kal gives a goofy grin to the camera. -
Their myths are of being driven out of the Tranquelline Halls, almost certainly by Odium. There are still people on Ashyn. They weren't driven out. Ashyn has its own magic system, while myths of the Tranquelline Halls bear no mention of that magic. The Rosharan idea of the afterlife is to go back and fight to regain the Tranquelline Halls, implying they were taken over. The enemy of Honor and Cultivation is Odium, and lives on Braize: he is the most likely one to have taken over, and they have been fighting him all along. Besides, isn't it so perfectly Hateful to take over someone else's planet and turn it into Hell itself?

Thunderclasts are rock. They don't have blood. Chasmfiends, however, do, and that blood is purple.
