  1. I posted this on reddit a while back and wanted to run this idea by you guys. Ill try to keep it brief and will elaborate if anyone ask questions. Everything bases around Tanavasts shadow not exactly merging with the stormfather when honor was shattered. He's using the stormfather as a coppercloud/hiding place. Using the smallest nudges on Dalinar through the stormfather. His is the unite them voice/light that dalinar sees that the stormfather claims to not be doing. It also explains why Odium says we killed you. In that unity moment Tanavast revealed himsel, possibly not on purpose but with the realms togther Odium spotted him. Thiis part is my head cannon till more is said in the books. The rest is solid speculations. I think its all in the plan. The long game that him and cultivation came up with. Of the 3 I think it was said cultivation had the best future sight. Honor sacrifices himself allows his own defeat. His shadow hides in the stormfather till the right time. He left visions for the bondsmiths to get them on the right path. In the one vision, I'm sorry I dont have the exact quote, the one he tells Dalinar to vex him make him think he can win, get him to agree to a contest of champions. With cultivations help Dalinar did exactly that. Got Odium to agree to the contest. Cultivation took his memory but gave it back in time for him to face Odium call to be his champion. Odium was sure Dalinar would become his even renerin saw it in his visions. So right after Dalinar resist Odium the terms that were laid out in the vision were met. Dalinar pulls the relms together and Odium sees Tanavast. We killed you. It was after that dalinar was always seeing that light almost like he doesnt have to hide anymore To reach even farther he'll use the same method as the heralds to to gain a new body and pick up his shard again in book 5 when Dalinar reforms the honor shard. I guess it is possible that the unite them and other things are an echo of tanavasts left over after they merged but I feel the stormfather would realize that it was coming from him if this were the case.
  2. Gotcha thanks. I'm actually putting togther the idea its tanavast ill post in a bit
  3. Thanks. Edit. I'm not sure this is what I was looking for. It mentions make him choose a champion. But it doesnt have the vex him part make him think he can loose. Maybe I'm remebering it wrong or i missed it gonna read it again
  4. I'm looking for the part where honor tells dalinar to vex Odium make him think he can loose. But I dont remember if it was the first or 2nd book. Anyone able to help out
  5. I always felt truthwatchers had some ability to see the future without the corruption. They were always described as secretative keeping to themselves ECT. If everyone thought seeing the future is evil you'd keep it to yourself. I've just felt the difference was normal truthwatchers get cultivations future sight. Renerin on the other hand is seeing odiums. Not to much to support this thought but its just my personal impression after reading the books
  6. Im sure Brandon has said it takes some hacking to make things like vasher surviving off stormlight to work. He wasnt born with an ability to draw in stormlight. He might be able to survive off it....once he learned how to take it in. At least that's how I've always felt about it.
  7. I always wondered if she got nightblood granting zahel the ability to survive off stormlight. Boon he could draw stormlight to feed his need for breaths. Cost nightblood. (I know she doesn't like "people not from roshar" but mayby getting nightblood she made an accpetion)
  8. Will bond smiths all have the same oaths? Are they all about uniting? Other kr spren are similar. Pattern and syl are all a race of spren and have similar oaths or truths in patterns case. But the nightwatcher sibling and stormfather are nothing alike. I feel the sibling belongs to the bondsmith that always stayed in urithuru to be a "battery" to power it. The nightwatcher I have no idea on. I dont know how much they could differ if they do at all. Mostly a question i thought of and figured I'd toss it out to smarter people then me.
  9. Just a really random thought. I might have the name wrong but when wax and wayne were talking strategies they talked about 1 where wax would fling Wayne into the middle of everyone then he would splat and heal think that was called rotten tomato. Well if we replaced wax with kaladin and wayne with lift how far could she make it. Slick her self and kaladin just lashes her like crazy....lets say kaladin stays behind so he cant keep lashing her.
  10. I think he meant that the teleportation myth start as being a super charged gravity surge to move so fast it seemed instant. I doubt thats the case. The oathgates prove its possible with the magic system but no idea if radiants can do it alone. The myth might just be them being able to teleport to a city then move to the danger area.
  11. I thought something was wrong with his illumination surge. He had never been able to make it work with tips from shallan. I haven't been able to make up my mind if its because it works differently like dalinars adhesion surge and kaladins. Or if it was glyses corruption and replaced by the void surge of illumination which made the planes of glass he got his predictions from. My mind leans to corruption so I didnt even think it could be his illumination.
  12. Progression can be offensive. Oathbring spoilers
  13. Szeth is a tortured soul but I to give that title to man my Taln. Szeth had a spanking in comparison.
  14. A bead of lerasium a little bit of trellium and you have someone who can burn the God metal. Easier said then done but another way to be able to burn it. No Mistborn needed...just have to figure out how to make lerasium again
  15. Andolin has always given Maya respect. His rituals. Speaking to her even in his mind even when he didnt understand she was a dead spren. She's also an edgedancers blade which I feel Andolin is starting to live up to their oaths. Hes loved by the people even listens to darkeyes and protects whores. He's remebering the forgotten with Maya. I feel her minds gone but still fuctions on instinct. Maybe his ideals he needs to choose will be slightly differnt then we've seen. Like how Tefts differed from Kaladins but was in the same ball park. Andolin will need to hit a homerun to bring her back.
  16. Ive never made this connection but I like it. Makes alot of sense with the timing. Can't wait to see if this is something andolin can replicate or if it was a one time thing. Kind of how afterwards taln went back to his mantra again. I feel like whats happening with taln is similar to the Elantris people during the shoad.? Been a while since I've read that. Feel like it has to do with bondsmith powers and connection. In this instance while Dalinar was "ascended" it was an unconscious use. Maybe a more direct hand could make these connection stronger. But Andolin and Maya have a deeper connection already without that even Dalinar couldn't strengthen the bond.
  17. I was just coming up with a reason on the spot. It could of been the same thing and they tried to unite them. I'm wondering if ive missed something with the OP stating having visions not sent by honor.
  18. Radiant plate in the past vision was also glowing. I feel like it feeds off stormlight to stay intact but it can also be super charged and can act like a stormlight battery. Thats more of a personal hope nothing to really back it up. Dead plate still has so many perks I cant wait to see a radiant gain theirs.
  19. How do we know they were not sent by honor. What if someone in the past started showing bondsmith potential and they started seeing the visions that Dalinar saw. Seeing things like the recreance might of destroyed their faith and they went on a rampage to erase the memory of it. Just being the devils advocate. I've always felt the part about humanity forgetting was more about stoping the desolations for a while. With the creation of parshmen and 9 of the 10 heralds abandoning the oathpact Odium took his chance maybe even set it up this way, he does see the future. The heralds say they won, the enemy is a mindless slave the oathpact is barley intact because of my man Taln. Not to take away from his sacrifice but what if odium went easy on him so he would last longer. Honor dies and our magical defenses are thrown away. Thousands of years pass with no threats and humanity gets lazy. Voidbringers and desolations are things of legend which most people believe to be just made up stories. Instead of repopulating and preparing for the next desolation we fight each other. Odium goes all doctor strange and checks future possibilities and chooses the right time to break taln to give him his best chance at winning. He was pretty confidant Dalinar would be his champion and he had won.
  20. I was just thinking about how alot of the cosmere magic can be duplicated on other worlds. We've seen shardblades from 2 worlds so far. Nightblood+shardblades. How do you guys think this could be done in other worlds. I was thinking Mistborn is taking early steps to making them. Band of morning spoilers below. Elantris spoilers As far as any other cosmere stories I cant figure out anything that would work. Would love your ideas or feed back.
  21. What metal stores ivestiture? Would it be possible to make armor of that metal or even plated and just fill to the brim? Sounds much simpler.
  22. I love the idea but feel its to convoluted. I think its more of the surgeon in him that makes him make the choices he does. Kaladin becomes who he is because of his upbringing which is a person syl would bond with. It could even be his passiveness that made syl pass up on him and choose kaladin. Someone who would fight to protect. That being said I do think kaladin will get new perspective on his 4th oath by speaking with his dad. It would not surprise me in the least if since his visit home he brought the attention of syls friends there and he's bonded a spren. Possibly even on the 4th oath because he already lived those ideals.
  23. Stormlight been a story about a magic that became myth and came back 1000s of years later. I doubt its going away again. Lift will be a worldhopper. Thats why she converts food into Stormlight, a way to hack the system and let her use her powers off world. I would love to see Dalinar ascend to Unity and odium defeated. I think a lot will change and fast during the break. With Dalinar now the unity shard he starts uniting all of roshar. The humans and parshendi start working to rebuild together. Fabrial tech explodes airships and other nifty things are invented. All is great until they start to explore the ruins of aimia. They find what ever secret hidden there that could destroy worlds. Not gonna happen but i could come up with 100 more and none will be as good as what's going to happen.
  24. He was starting to bond the stormfather possible on the second oath. When Szeth kills him he told him to leave Dalinar with the question. Whats the most important step a man can take? I'm not sure what part your talking about when he instantly summoned a blade.
  25. Toward the end Sazed was more of a mix of ruin and preservation. I think I remeber a WoB saying that years ago. Its why he was able to take both shards up. He was equally connected to the shards. Your idea sounds very plausible and if sazed was a mix of both that would explain why he took so long to take notice.
