  1. I'll come up with RP later, but we know that at least 16 people must have gone after the Cornucopia (since six players died and Peng told us that the Muttations couldn't kill us the first day), so at least all the items are evenly distributed and no one has multiple. That also means that there were quite a few people who weren't being honest or were wishy-washy about whether they would go for it. So the main plan seems to be to kill the cows... err the muttations, right? If we can get enough of a consensus that 10 people (or even 7 and assurances from the people with the attack items that they'll use them on the muttations) then we could end that threat on day one and really let the games begin! I still think that we should consider the need to hit a player, since two people will die if the muttation attack doesn't get through, but that's just me. Personally, I don't like the idea of dying to random chance. If I die, I want it to be because someone wanted me dead, so I'd like to take those factors off the table.
  2. The final seconds were counting down. 3.... Soon, Melinda would have to run; run faster than she ever had before, as she wasn't running just for her life, but for Dam's as well. She knew that if she fell here and now, he'd never forgive himself. She tried to find him amongst the other tributes, but with the Cornucopia in the way, some of the tributes were out of view and he wasn't among the ones she could see. 2... She could try to go through the Cornucopia to get to him, but she remembered Wilson telling them that the Cornucopia became a bloodbath. If she went that way, she might not make it to him at all! With time counting down, she looked around desperately for any way to go that would reunite her with Dam that wasn't through a killing field. Her eyes landed on the forest in the distance and she remembered the time Dam had taken her to the park. It wasn't really much of a park. It was about the size of a basketball court and it only had a few trees and bushes, but for Melinda, it was a fantasy realm. The power needs of Panem were so great that almost every available space in the district had been converted for the purposes of producing it. That meant that places like this were extremely rare. It was during the spring and she had never seen so many colors that weren't blinking. Everything was delicate and yet resilient. She had thought she had broken one of the flowers when it came free, but Dam assured her that it would grow back. She found the softness of the grass so compelling that she rolled around in it for hours. And Dam had laughed. 1.... She hoped Dam remembered that day. The buzzer sounded and chaos erupted around her, so she ran. _____________________________ Okay, I'm more convinced about the idea of taking out the Muttations, knowing that their attacks will count towards the death count. There's still worries about it, like the fact that we'd still be subjecting two random people to death if the muttations don't attack or if they hit someone that's defended, but there'd be worries about any plan we come up with. After all, we can't wind up really trusting each other, now can we? My biggest question for Peng is how that would work. If we have 10 people attack the muttations, does each attack count as a separate attack on the muttations or would they just stack together and kill off only one round of the muttations? EDIT: We have about 7 people claiming to be going for the Cornucopia and 3-4 maybes/hidden agendas and another 4 who haven't checked in at all (some of them I know have noticed that the game has started though).
  3. I understand why you all want to go after the Muttations, I really do, but to do so will cost us far worse: What we should be doing is trying to convince whomever winds up getting the Knives and the Bow to off the Muttations, cause if we don't wind up killing someone, we're going to lose two people anyways and it's just as random. As such, we're going to need at least one person to die next cycle anyways, as (And Peng, I'd like clarification on this) I'll bet you that someone dying to a Muttation doesn't count...
  4. As she was led to the tubes, Melinda's breath came faster and faster as her fear grew and grew. Eventually, she and Dam were separated and led to their own tubes. Dam gave her one last hug and a reassuring smile before they were parted. Melinda didn't know if she was lucky or unlucky that Wilson was not only here, but decided to accompany her to her tube. On one hand, Wilson and Melinda didn't seem to get along. On the other, it beat being alone. As the countdown began, Wilson surprised Melinda with an unaccustomed display of emotion by giving her a hug! "Remember what I told you and you'll be fine," Wilson whispered in her ear as she sneakily handed Melinda something. "Heck, you might even be able to save your brother, as I know you're thinking." With that, Wilson pulled back and winked at Melinda, but Melinda couldn't find anything to say; she was in shock. The tube closed around her before she recovered and by then, it was too late to question Wilson on how she knew what Melinda was planning or time to figure out what Wilson had given her. The games had begun. _______________________________ It's been almost 8 hours and almost no one has said a word! Since almost 100% of the game can be done without saying anything in thread, I was afraid something like this might happen. As such, I have two ideas on how to proceed. First, let's kill anyone who decides to not contribute to the thread. The Hunger Games were designed to entertain the spectators and if you're not contributing to the entertainment, they can kill you. Let's go ahead and deal with that for them. Plus, this means that those that do contribute will be alive for longer, which means they can contribute more! Sure, this is self-serving as well, but at the same time, you have to admit, it's more fun than everyone just sitting behind the scenes and sending in their orders to Peng. Second, anyone who's going for the Cornucopia are going to be targets, as they're the ones that will then have items. Remember, this is basically a free for all, so you having an item just means that almost everyone else will be wanting to try to take it from you. I believe this is why most people haven't said what they're doing one way or the other. At the same time, I'd rather we didn't have everyone go for the Cornucopia and thus only have 10 players left after the first day. As such, at this point in time, I'll say that I'm not intending to go for the Cornucopia. If we can get a few more people to say that, and stick with it, then we'll stand a better chance of not everyone dying, but not only a few people being armed to the teeth. Those are my suggestions.
  5. Melinda watched as Dam made his way through the interview. How was she, of all people, supposed to remained poised and in control like that?! Kam had gotten a taste of her temperament when he had tried to stuff her into a dress. It had been a compliment to Dam's jumpsuit in all but utility. "...It looks like something that you'd put on a doll," she had thought when seeing all the lace and frills and fluff. So she had kicked him in the shins. Kam was still walking with a limp when he had finally returned with a jumpsuit that was a mimic of her brothers, just smaller. The memory made Melinda grin ever so slightly until she remembered where she was and what she was about to do. That sobered her up faster than being doused in ice water. By the time Dam had finished and was walking off stage, she was shivering again. She was going to screw this up. She was going to rant and rave and cry and get herself killed because of it. The worst part was, that, if she did, she was likely going to bring Dam down with her. "Your time to shine, Ohms." The weight and strength of Dam's arms around her helped calm her a little bit, as he probably knew that it would. Well, it was her time to do something. * Afterwards, she didn't know why she had been so worried. She had managed to keep it together and answered all of the Interviewer's questions, even if she had been extremely terse and had sat there with her arms crossed, looking as if she was pouting the entire time. "What's your favorite part of the Capital?" "The lights that we provide you the power for." "What when through your head when you were picked?" "Shock." "What went through your head when your brother was picked?" "More shock." By then, the Interviewer was obviously getting a little flustered, so he just skipped ahead: "So, ummm, why will you win the Hunger Games?" She thought about telling the truth- "I won't, but as long as I can help make sure Dam survives, that's okay" -but decided against it. Instead, her thoughts returned home, to her mom; where both she and Dam should still be. For the first time in the interview, her mask was starting to break. Her eyes filled with tears and her lower lip started to quiver. She barely whispered out, "For Mommy." before rushing off stage. * Luckily, the audience loved it. They viewed her as an innocent little girl throwing a tantrum. They had started calling her and her brother "Shock and Awe." Dam was the Shock, from working in the power plants and she was the Awe. ...She hated it.
  6. "Just remember Wilson's advice when everything starts." Dam's advice echoed through her head as she and her brother met Kam. The first time that he had said it, she had stuck her tongue out at him and rolled her eyes. Dam may not have been the brightest bulb in their district, but he was loyal when it came to his family and she had no doubts that he would've volunteered in an instant if he hadn't been picked. She constantly poked fun at him, but, when she was being honest with herself, she looked up to her big brother. He was tall and strong and good-natured and... reliable. That was the best word she could come up with for him. She, on the other hand was like quicksilver; constantly changing. She had been strong and confident during the Reaping, but the second she got on the train, she ran to her room, crying. "Mommy," she whispered longingly as her tears were soaked up into a pillow softer than anything she had felt before. She hated how she went along with these games. She hated that she would likely never see her mother again, thanks to them. She hated District 5. She hated this bed. She hated how she had, somehow, made her brother get picked. But most of all, she hated herself. She wasn't as strong as Dam was. He was there because of her, even if he had been picked, and here she was, ignoring him to wallow in her own misery. She didn't stop crying until she felt Dam wrap his arms around her. "Shhh," he said. "I'm here for you, little Ohms." His nickname for her, since she seemed to resist everything. "We'll be okay. We'll make it through this, I promise." So now she stood there, holding onto that promise, as Kam detailed out how he would make them shining stars; barely holding back the flood of emotion she kept bottled up. "Yes," she thought as Kam swept through idea after idea, only picturing them as they were now. "Yes, we'll make it through this- or at least you will, big brother. You deserve as much."
  7. Manipulation is part of the game. Since when did we leave off the ability to manipulate definitions, by any name? I'm looking forward to the game where we start asking for clear definitions just for the hilarity that will likely provide! "Did you mean that you trust _____ as in a 'reliability of a person' or did you mean is as more of a 'confidence placed in a person?'" Either way, the results will be hilarious!
  8. Melinda shuffled from foot to foot, trailing her big brother Dam around. It shouldn't have been allowed, two members of the same family getting picked, but it had happened. The fact that she was just old enough to be picked didn't help matters. At least she had Dam. She loved to tease him and call him names, but he'd look after her... right?
  9. There should totally be an option for spectators/the dead to be able to send an item into the game. I'm in, I just haven't come up with a character yet.
  10. Sign ups are coming, McKeedee, don't worry about that! This was a great game, Wyrm! There were so many twists to keep track of and I think that's honestly why Kas and I butted heads so early (Sorry Kas, I really put us in that situation, so I don't lament my death there). Spies, you did an incredible job. You not only had to worry about being found, you had to worry about hitting your own and I think you guys did a great job of trying to balance the two. ...Well, other than the first battle, but there was no way for you to know how that would turn out. If anything, you guys were forced into a "I think that they'd think" with that one and unfortunately you all thought the same! On the bright side, great minds think alike and you all at least considered the option of not attacking to throw off the count! The greatest thing from this game, IMO, is how well our newer players showed of themselves. From this point on, I don't think anyone could easily claim that Eoldren, McKeedee, Jasnah, or any of the others that I've missed aren't devious within their own rights! You guys were amazing. Also, Jain... I'm sorry that your first time as evil ended so quickly (I know the feeling!). Hopefully, you won't have to wait as long for the next time! Again, great game everyone and I'm looking forward to the next!
  11. Well that ties it back up to 3 for both me and Odysa and that's no good, so I'll gladly take one for the team.
  12. I'm a Watchman, so I hope you're happy, Kaddar. I'd remove my vote from you so that we'd still have my role, but that would tie things up between us and with it so close to the end of the cycle, I'd rather we get a lynch than no lynch.
  13. You need to be more careful with your edits, Kas, and not just because I'm the one being called under fire for them.... This time, you've edited for something Wilson posted well beforehand (at least I'm assuming that it's because of her earlier posts, but considering it's an "edit," how are we supposed to take it?). The time before this, you last posted and then edited to retract your supposed assessment (after a 15 minute window as well). I thought this was established, but you shouldn't be changing your post for anything other than grammatical errors or if someone hasn't posted before you decide to post again (the idea being that you're restricting those who didn't see the original post before you switched it, which could get messy if the Evil Faction can do so). Considering the amount of time between your post and Kenara's, you shouldn't need the edit to it to point that out. I'm saying this for the benefit of the game as whole and not as an indication of you, specifically. We don't want to have to start second guessing Edits or Claims of Real Life Situations when the game is already so complex! If there's some reason for such, I'm sure we can figure it out. -------------------------- Here's what I'm not getting: What is it that you think that I haven't grasped? I've kept you as a suspect because I don't have any reason to remove from my list. You should also notice that I had yet call a vote for you, thus I suspect the possibility that you're actually the Wit. Thing is, you're all over the place. You're kind of claiming to be a Spy and you're kind of claiming to be Wit as well. I'm done with your games. Kaddar, I call your bluff. If you're not a Spy, then you're being incredibly unhelpful. If you're the Wit, you're just causing confusion when it's unnecessary (which is Wit's job, so at least kudos for playing up the role!).
  14. Meller used the highstorm to work on his design for his mobile bridges. He was close, he knew it. He just needed to figure out the tweaks to make it stable on any ground, which was not as easy as it sounded. He'd experimented with weights and malleable materials, but they all became unstable when you accounted for thousands of thundering troops passing over them. He was starting to give up hope that he'd make it work. Of course, it probably didn't help that he couldn't focus on his work most of the time. He kept hearing about those storming spies, especially now that they had found one. Spies were like rodents; where you found one, there were likely others. As such, he kept looking over his shoulder. Any of his assistants could be a spy, trying to steal his mobile bridge plans. After all, after the fire of his prototype, he knew that they were trying to stop him. Well, he'd complete his designs, at least, and hope that they would find their way to Dalinar's hands. If he didn't survive to complete them, maybe someone else could! To answer your question Ace, I was busy only an hour before my post at the beginning of the day. I was still busy when the next cycle was posted. It was just a generic statement, so no Freudian slip, sorry; just bad wording, since I was still looking for information off of the cycle and expected it in the form of multiple deaths. The fact that the other Officer hasn't come forward does suggest to me that they're likely a Spy. After all, we have enough protection to spread around that we could protect both Kenara and them without any problem so far and I don't think that a Spy would role claim this early just to lynch one person (thus Wilson likely isn't a Spy. I did say likely though. ). I won't vote yet, but Odysa is looking more suspicious to me now after looking over everything. Newan and Mek have moved up on my watch list and Kaddar are still up there as well. Considering Damon still hasn't checked in, I do suggest that the lighteyes throw their vote there. Unless she checks in, she's done for anyways and after last cycle, where we got lucky IMO, I'd rather we didn't leave it up to chance again.
  15. Jain was only one vote ahead in the votes and all it would've taken was someone coming in late (or Jain throwing a vote on one of the other people that had only one vote) for there to be a tie. I was trying to take away that possibility so that we actually would get a lynch. Unfortunately, I was busy and forgot to remove my vote on Marand beforehand. We honestly got lucky there that it wasn't noticed until afterwards or else we could've had another day without any information to go off of. Also, considering that I spent a good chunk of the 2nd cycle trying to get people to actually vote, I wouldn't consider my voting for Jain as out of character. Heck, most games I try to encourage even a first day lynch, just for the information! Also, Tal brought up the need to come up with a plan for the lighteye vote well before Jain did, so I had already been working on the problem and trying to come up with a solution. It's a tenuous connection, at best, in my opinion, though I don't blame you for considering it. To further hopefully put your suspicions to rest, if I were Jain's 2nd, I wouldn't be the one putting in the sabotage order in the first place. For one, I'd have let Jain do the honors, since he finally was evil and he's been wanting to try his hand at it for quite awhile now. Two, I wasn't surprised at all that I was targeted by something during the first cycle, as that's fairly common. Evidentally, people like to try to figure out where I stand. I wouldn't risk us being found out so early by putting the order in myself, if I was a spy. I also wouldn't have just let him die like that when saving him would've been incredibly easy. The lighteye votes were all over the place (as Jost and Kenara were discussing before the end of the cycle) and if that wasn't a possible route to save him, as I said, I would've encouraged him to save himself by voting for someone else to tie it up. Sure, he'd likely be on the chopping block today then, but that would've meant that the good faction would've wasted not only last cycle, but this cycle as well just to get one spy, during which more people would die. So you can see, if I actually were evil, last cycle would've played out far differently, so no, I'm not Jain's 2nd.
  16. I can confirm that we at least have another Officer if Kenara isn't lying. I was sent to clean the latrines during the first cycle and that doesn't match up with Wilson's targets. As such, we have a situation where we basically have two people claiming the same role (although one of them has yet to speak up). If Kenara is good, then it's likely that the other Officer is a Spy. Now that doesn't mean that it is another one of the known Lighteyes, it could be the Heterochromic for all we know.
  17. H-How did no one die? Weren't we suppose to be able to tell if the Surgeon or Guardsmen saved someone? Did the spies just never put in their orders? Are we really that lucky? What is going on here?!? On the bright side, good call Jost. That's one down!
  18. I'll throw a vote on Jain, even though I don't suspect him, just to make sure that someone gets lynched and give us some information to go off of! ...That and I suspect I'm dead in a half hour anyways, so you all won't have to worry about me being evil for very much longer anyways!
  19. That makes no sense. If I offered myself up with the vote on me last cycle, then I'd have been killed; thus the vote would have to be removed if people wanted to use me as the target. As far as why I didn't suggest someone else, people would assume that I'm collaborating with that person to protect them and since I didn't/don't trust any of you, I wasn't about to give anyone a free pass on the first day.
  20. That's exactly my point about it. I'm well aware of how things work on Roshar. If we accept it to be true and not just narrative, then that means that a male character was the one who kill Wok. Just narrows the field a bit. Not much, but a bit. I'm not just talking about just today. As I said, I went back through the entire game so far and read over everything. Up until you've set your sights on Odysa, I find your posts to be as all encompassing as possible, which I view with suspicion because it sounds like you're trying to cater to all sides at once. You jumped around a lot and never really stuck to to anything. Here, let's take your decision to explain your plan about Wit and the votes from the first day as an example. You first started with the idea of not revealing your plan and then you revealed it anyway. Sure, you've explained that, but here's the thing that gets to me about it; you revealed it not only just after roughly 10 hours later, but there was still over 24 hours left in the cycle. So you effectively sabotaged even using that plan for that cycle by revealing way too early for it to be any good to us. And you were aware of the fact that now that it was revealed, it wouldn't be of much help. If you were truly looking out for the best interests of the group and were truly afraid that you'd die, you would've posted the plan near the end of the day, after the spies couldn't do anything about it for that cycle at least. It's just small stuff like that that makes a lot of your posts come off as if they're just trying too hard to appease all while coming off as non-offending to everyone as well. As far as the lighteyes thing, it's more something for people to keep in mind than an indication towards your suspiciousness. It could be that, with the addition of myself and Tal, that Wyrm decided to include another spy team (I still don't know how I feel about you claiming knowledge of the number of teams due to outside information, but if you're a spy, I'm chalking it up to lying about the "Word of the GM." It just plays very close to the fairplay rules, in my opinion) and meant to add you as a lighteye spy. It could mean that Wyrm just wanted to include another lighteyes in the game once more people joined. It could mean that you're Wit and he meant for Wit to be hidden amongst the lighteyes, since we're more likely to go after them because the field of suspects is lower. It could mean anything, but to speculate on it is to speculate on WWWD (What Would Wyrm Do) as a GM rather than focus on the game. It's similar to whether the Spies were trying to frame Jost or help him seem innocent; it's too muddled to tell, but I included both, as they're still factors we should consider when making overall decisions. You make it sound like I already called for your head. Just because I'm suspicious of someone doesn't mean that they're automatically a Spy. Besides, as I said, I'd rather not lynch you if you're good, as your observations have been insightful, but you're still claiming to be a Spy and deflecting that by making it about your playstyle instead. I'm willing to call your bluff, if that is indeed what it is. (On an entirely OOG note, are you okay, Kas? That reads as if you're a bit hurt by it all and have lost the enthusiasm that you typically have. It could just be due to trying to get your thoughts out on your mobile, but I don't want you to take my observations too personally. I, personally, wasn't trying to attack your character as a person or your playstyle. I hope you know that and if anything I said offended you in any way, then I'm sorry. If you have an issues with anything, we could always set up a PM with Wyrm to discuss it (so no actual game information gets leaked), as per the Etiquette Policy.)
  21. No time for RP (and I really hate that, as this is turning into a "Blue" game), but I think Wok's death is the Spy team being clever. They know that we were kind of expecting someone who is typically taken out early to be taken out, so they switched it up specifically to throw us off. I also think that they're likely fairly talkative at the moment and so they somewhat assume that the other spies are as well, so they went after someone that they thought was too quiet to likely be a spy. Also, even if Wok turned out to be a spy, they weren't losing much, since she wasn't being particularly active either. It was a win-win situation for them, if I'm reading it correctly. Also, and this is a minor possibility, they might have targeted Wok to either clear or implicate Jost. That possibility is so muddled though that it's nothing more than something to keep in mind going forward, in my opinion. Something I'd like to point out that I'm surprised no one brought up is the fact that the killer seemed to have difficulty writing. Now that could just be Wyrm creating detail to make the narrative more fun, but it could also be an accidental clue that slipped past while he was writing (it happens. As any GM will tell you, it can be bloody hard to keep little hints from leaking out in your writing!). Even if this is a clue, it doesn't really help narrow the field much anyways, but I'm still surprised no one has mentioned it. Anyways, back to analysis. I've reread everything and, Kenara, you're pretty wishy-washy, in my opinion and that strikes me as suspicious. A lot of your posts read like you're arguing with yourself, even when you're suspecting someone. It makes you hard to pin down on what you actually believe, which would be a great Eliminator tactic to keep yourself looking innocent (also, you say you're too busy for any RP, but you seem to find a lot of time to keep control of the conversation! ). There's also the fact that you were added to the lighteyes at the last minute and while that could mean nothing, it could mean something more. I'm not throwing a vote your way yet, but (and I'm not basing this off of your reputation) you're on my watch list. With Kaddar, I keep going back and forth on. His consistent rule clarifications could just be him being helpful, but it could just as easily be him publicly making a spectacle of asking to come off as less knowledgeable than he really is. Add to this that he's, supposedly, sarcastically claiming to be a spy and I'm tempted to call his bluff. I think he could be going for a bit of reverse psychology with that and it's a lot easier to write off someone's suspicions with a jest than it is to actually refute them. And if we're going off of previous playstyles, I'd say that level of trolling isn't something that he's done before. The main reason I keep going back and forth on him though is that his insights seem like good ones and thus I wouldn't want to lose him if he's good. On the other hand, that's all they are- insights. He keeps stating what we should be able to see (like his first post this cycle) for ourselves and has yet to offer any plans or thoughts on what to actually do with them. That could easily be an eliminator tactic to keep the blame for any failed plans that come about due to his insights off of him. So who do I vote for? Neither. I think we might be a bit too focused on the Lighteyes (it's cause we're jealous ). Sure, there's likely at least one spy among them and that's a lot narrower field than with the darkeyes, but if we spend all our time there, we'll likely be killed by the rest of them before we can find them. Not to mention, that we could be just barking up the wrong tree with both Kaddar and Kenara or that Wyrm might not have put any of the spies in with the Lighteyes, but knew that we'd think there was. As such, my vote goes to Marand for now. I think he's going for the that sweet spot of just posting enough to stay relevant, but little enough to be forgotten. ---Just a side note, one of the reasons that votes have been less forthcoming, in my opinion, is due to the lack of debate that typically comes after them. I agree with Reihmer, we need to be more bloodthirsty. These "poke" votes have lost their bite because everyone knows that the second they post something, whether helpful or not, the vote will likely be retracted. The debate is where we get a lot of our information on how much to suspect someone and we can't get that by not lynching. Even if we do kill an innocent, that's better than not killing anyone or killing someone without the debate. Oh, Norlav, that's not how the lighteye voting is supposed to work. Once we have a few suspects for the cycle (which is why we need to get the ball rolling on that), then the lighteyes' vote should go on someone that isn't up for the lynch. If someone volunteers to be the target, then that would be suspicious to me (see my vote), as they'd be trying to negate themselves from the pool of possible suspects for that cycle. If no one finds me suspicious enough to throw a vote my way, then by all means, the lighteyes could use me as the vote sink again, but that's up to them and should be based off of who hasn't received any votes yet. Personally, I'd suggest using Tal or Damon right now, as poke votes should be outlawed, in my opinion. So unless we're going to just lynch one of them for inactivity (and Wyrm has already taken care of that), they're a safe place to store the vote for now.
  22. I have a calc test and a paper due tomorrow, so I'm busy until tomorrow afternoon. At that point, I'll go over everything I've been thinking so far. I will say this, right now, Kaddar and Kenara are both on my list of suspects and I'll try to clarify more later.
  23. I think it's safe to say that we've all said what we have to say about this game, since it's been over a week without any new discussion, so it's time to lock it up! Thank you Alvron for GMing! I look forward to seeing what you do with Part 2! If it's anything like this game, I'm sure it will be a blast for not only those that are playing, but those that are spectating as well! Along that idea, if anyone would like to try your hand at running a game, please get a hold of Gamma, Wilson or myself. Not only will we get you added to the list, but I'm sure we'd be more than willing to help out in any way we can as well! You can also ask questions and get some hints and feedback from everyone over here in our Art of Game Creation thread as well. With all the games that we've run so far, we have plenty of experienced GMs that can help you refine any game you're thinking about!
