If I understand it properly, the number of complaints on any one player doesn't affect the distribution of DP from Masters, only the number of players with complaints. However, every 2 complaints on a player adds 1 DP to that player. So basically what you said, but I just wanted to point out that extra votes don't increase probability of getting more DP from the Masters (obviously the 1st vote increases it from 0 to 1/(# of players with complaints on them), but after that...). The extra votes increase the probability of the player getting a more serious punishment. o.O Apparently not. Which doesn't bode well for that plan. Well that probably answers that question. *Note to self: Read the thread properly*

Hey there! I assume you are referring to Mistborn: The Inquistion (aka MBI)? The first time I visited the site, I found it incredibly intimidating. But I eventually worked it out, and have been a relatively active member for a good year or two. A good place to start is to make an account, and then post a topic in the Introductions subforum. There you could ask the other users questions about the site, the RP, etc. It is indeed a Role Playing Game, but not in the style of something like Dungeons & Dragons, Pathfinder, Savage Worlds, etc. If you want a RPG where you are rolling dice, you'll want to investigate the Mistborn Adventure Game (MAG). Over on the SteelMinistry, a bunch of users from the 17thShard participate in Play-By-Post games of the MAG. But back to the MBI, the focus is on writing prose. Most of the players are aspiring writers who want to improve their writing ability. There's a strong focus on character creation - player characters need a character application, which usually start at around 1000-1500 words, which encompass the character's personality, their history (explaining their background and why they are the way they are, and their motiviations), and a Roleplay Sample so that other players can get a good feel for how the character will act in the roleplay. The only dicerolls in the forum come from KChan's Dice Roll Character Creation Challenge, where she'll roll you up some random statistics to design a character around. For the actually roleplaying itself, a fair portion is planned by the players before hand. They'll work out a scene that they wish to happen between their characters, and work out an idea for where they want it to go, then they'll make a thread, set the scene, and write the roleplay. Other times scenes will be set and then players just see what happens. It's a mix, but talking to the other players is important. So yeah, it's about telling a story, rather than rolling dice and then seeing what happens. If you're interested, I'd advise you to post over there, and then any of us over there will be happy to help you learn your way around the site!

It could feasibly just one of them too. Like, I wouldn't put it past Bridge Boy to be a skindancer, with Wonko being a genuine villager. I mean, as far I can tell, at the moment, it's BB's word that he was the sabotage target, and all through the game, he's said that he's been using half truths and maybe lies, and we've just had Wonko reiterate that. So I get the impression it may have been challenging so far for anyone to use Linguistic Analysis to verify him. Which isn't very useful to the village. Of course, I've not talked to him in PM's so I don't know the full story. I think I need to have a think if I think it's worth putting my votes on BB. What's your estimation, Wonko? Do you reckon he could feasibly be a skindancer, or would you lean more towards a villager?

Just pointing out that I did indeed notice, and said as much in my first post, to which Lopen replied that we should wait for the still absent writeup to see if there are clues like last time time there was no sabotage. Do you know for certain that he was attacked, or are you just assuming he may have been? Or is it that just that BB thinks he was likely in danger last cycle?

@Lopen: With the lashing blocking actions, it'd be nice if we hit a skindancer with that though. Re: PK. Well I guess on the bright side, we get PK's alignment confirmed. Think I'm going to throw a vote on Kipper. He's thrown down 2 votes on Wonko, and he had a reasonable reason to do so. But Wonko responded to his concerns, and Kipper has yet to comment on them. Going to put my other vote on Weaving Webs for not posting. Another month went by. Kipper was almost as illusive as last time, but he caught glimpses. Enough to work with anyway. He was thinking outside the disciplinary office would do - it seemed to be the most reliable place to find him. Just the other day, he heard the man complaining about Sev. He wasn't sure how he felt about that. On the one hand, he felt like he should like anyone who Kipper disliked. On the other hand, Sev was a noble, and so had more money and prestige. He probably was meant to dislike him on principle, but he figured he'd wait and see how it went. Maybe he'd be able get some money off Sev if he was nice to the man. He'd have to chat to him at some point. Sev, at least, would be easy to find. The List had progressed wonderfully over the last few weeks. It now had five entries: The LIST! 1. A metal bucket 2. A fiend 3. A powerful parody 4. A potato 5. A set of Calipers He'd even actually managed to find a bucket to use. Things were certainly coming together. He wasn't sure about the calipers though, nor the fiend. He also hadn't had much lucky with the parody. Maybe he'd need to outsource it. He keep his ear out for any capable lyricists in his investigations. He also wondered if Sev might have some ideas for the Ultimate plan. The fellow certainly talked enough.

@Kobold, re: Confirmation Huh. Interesting. For us (Christadelphian), that's basically what we use baptism for - you only get baptised when you understand our core doctrines, and decide of your own free will to acknowledge your sins and give yourself in service to God.

@Lopen: I keep forgetting to do so. I am not a skindancer. I think the thing with the game so far is that we're only just getting to the point where people might have useful abilities, and people haven't been treating the lynch as a lynch. I guess it is less than appealing due to the fact we don't get the & alignment, which could be why...

Oh, I certainly believe that it refers to a literal day. I was conceding that people could argue for it being nonliteral.Curious, would you believe in young earth creation? See I am of the opinion that the earth was already around and that Gen 1 is written from the perspective of an observer 'standing' as it were on the planet's 'surface' (at that point there was no dry land, only water). So the stars would have already been there, but they just couldn't be seen, and creation was 6 days of setting up the planet and solar system to support life, and setting up all the ecosystems.

And another cycle has gone past without me seriously contributing. Apologies Araris... I blame the folks over at the SteelMinistry for distracting me to theorise about the workings of alomancy... I've got class for the next hour, but the hour after, I'll start working through the player list, and doing some analysis. Pointing out that I've not seen Stink post this cycle. Or Kipper. Gone. Missing. Vanished. Hiding? Invisible? Lost? Whatever it was, he couldn't find Kipper anywhere. He'd given him the slip and foiled his plan. How could he be expected to find the best time and place to prank someone if they left no trace to track!? He was going to have to try something different. He was going to have to look for him outside of the library. At least the weeks of searching the library for Kipper had gained him some knowledge on the nature of fiends. He'd also added a third item to the list - he was going to need one 'Powerful Parody' to make his plan work. So he spent the rest of the month searching every nook and cranny of the short hallway leading to the library for Kipper. This involved lots of sleeping. And eating. The occasional thought may have passed through his head too, though he couldn't be certain. Although he certainly didn't do any of this in the library hall. No, not at all. Much to classy for that. Going to class really did mess with his schedule.

Seeing the confusion in the mans eyes, he lowered his voice to whisper "Kipper, my archnemesis" before continuing on as normal. "He'll be more unbearably insufferable than he is normally. And normally you can smell it 50 feet away."

He had been oh so busy. All this study! It hardly left time for a man to think. But he sorely needed time to think. He had a Plan to, well, plan... Kipper had to be the subject of the Uni's greatest practical joke! He had a list, although incomplete, of his Grand Masterly Masterful Master Plan. But nothing was coming. So maybe he needed someone else's help to come up with a few ideas. So he kept his ears open as he moved around. Unfortunately, most people are quite normal. Which means boring. Meaning uninteresting and uncreative. Thus most were all quite useless in this Amazing Scheme of his. Finally, his 'patience' payed off, or at least it seemed it might have. "How many fiends have you made at the uni?" He heard a voice say. Perfect. A fiend is just what I need! He approached the two people from where the voice had been, noting this vital second ingredient of Exquisite Revengeneering on his list as he walked. "Hi, I couldn't help but overhear your discussion of the fabrication of fiends. I find myself in dire need of one, and was hoping that one of the pair of you might advise me on how I might go about procuring one for myself. I don't suppose you have one that might be lent?"

Since the whole skindancer thing had turned up, he'd kept on running into the obnoxious fellow. If things didn't change soon, he was going to have to do something to deflate the windbag. Maybe even do something that would have justified that complain the previous month. The more he thought about it, the more he liked this idea. He begun to plan. The first order of business was to to work out the best time to pull a prank. He had a group of friends who had altogether too many silver spoons. So the question would be how to get him when he was by himself. As he was deliberating this, a thought crossed his mind. He pulled out a small notebook, and a pencil. THE PLAN > Locate a bucket. Now he had a List, and some percentage of a plan. Which was better than no plan. He put away the notebook, and checked the time. "Bother!" He was late for class. He started to run. I'm again going to complain about Thisismyusername's absence. Contribution crusade, if it were. And you guys beat me to the punch. There was overly much RP last cycle (not necessarily a bad thing, but not if it means no discussion). It was, I guess, first cycle, so it's understandable. And I guess in some ways, we're waiting on elevations to begin - we're quite use to having roles and trying to ascertain alignment based on actions. Don't have time now, but a bit later, I'm going to try start having a think about what people have said so far, to come up with anything to go on.

He had been getting a snack, and was on his way back to the library when it so happened that when he was walking past the disciplinary office that he heard the raised voice of some arrogant noble. Which was hardly notable. What was worthy of note was the single word that resolved from the buzz of voices. It was his name! He listened at the door. It was true! Kipper was Complaining about him, and for something he didn't even do! This couldn't stand. Nor could he stand here, not with Kipper about to finish up. So he did the only sensible thing he could. He started walking down the corridor, and fell over. "Botherations!" He cried out. "I'm must complain! The floor was uneven! This can't stand because I couldn't stand!" As he was picking himself up, he felt an oppressive presence pass him. Looking up, Kipper had left the office. He could feel the disdain for others drip off of Kipper. Or maybe that was his own sweat... Dusting himself off, he entered the office. "I want to file a formal complaint about Kipper! There's something wrong with the floor outside! I fell over!"

He awoke. Something was different, but he did not know what. So he got up and wandered around. Eventually he left his lodgings and found his way to the university. Then it all became clear. The Crockery's sole charge had been murdered, and by skindancers no less. Something has to be done about this! He thinks to himself. He soon found a score of his fellow students who had reached the same conclusion. Or at least, that's what rumour had. He himself had only seen around the order of a dozen himself. But it was a start, other minds with which to plan and bounce ideas around with. Alrighty! I think that with this here my post, we're at exactly half (12) of the players having swung by to announce their presence. Hopefully the rest come by before end of cycle. You can go to the Imre and borrow money from Devi's. Wilson posted some rule clarifications on page one, and said that coin wasn't transferable between students, so Devi's is also your only option, outside of studying in a field that lets you steal. GMs: Someone pointed this out, but it didn't seem to be answered: The Countdown seems to be 36 hours not 48. Intentional? So, what I would normally be considering right now is role distributions. Only, we don't really have 'roles' per se. We have Social Standings, and they're public knowledge (and not really things that affect other people). But I guess we can guess at the number of eliminators. If there's usually between a sixth to a quarter of the total players as eliminators, then we'd be looking at 4-6 eliminators. I'm more inclined to think that there'd be more than less, because they don't have a straight out kill - they send people to the crockery first, and would have to target them again to kill them. Which strikes me as a really slow way of killing. The alternative is destroying the uni, but there's what 9(?) different fields, and it will take some time to Master a field, particularly seeing as everyone will be contesting for favor, and it's unlikely that you'd get elevated in a field 3 times consecutively. So I guess I'm going to work with the assumption of 5, unless anyone has a better idea?
