My opinion is that he uses luck. Since "Storing weight" is actually storing mass (WoB), I see no problem with storing luck to actually be storing whatever it is that would put you in a certain favourable position. Inworld names for things are sometimes inaccurate. So, Hoid would therefore be storing (In mass amounts) a cosmic thing that urges him to do things a certain way to direct where he wants to go. I don't think storing luck can affect others, only yourself, so the word "luck" wouldn't apply. If you're lucky in a game of chance, its not only your own rolls that determine your luck, but everyone else's as well, whereas feruchemy can only be given and taken by the person who stores and taps. Do you get what I'm saying? Or did I make no sense whatsoever?

Worldhopper/Seventeenth Shard WISHLIST!!!
Khyrindor replied to pharaoh9000's topic in Cosmere Discussion
I bet Jasnah already knows of other worlds, maybe that's why she gave up Vorinism. I'd be willing to bet she went to another world while she was presumed dead.- 43 replies

I disagree. Hoid is more like a cake. Maybe Parfait.

My dad recommended Elantris to me and I read it, and loved it. I was obsessing about it for a while like "this is the best book ever!" And then my dad told me that I should read Mistborn. I was going "there's no possible way it could be better than Elantris," but eventually read it and was blown away. I ate up the trilogy and then went on to Way of Kings saying the same thing: "Nope. Can't be better than Mistborn." I was wrong again. With each book, Brandon continuously blows my mind. And then I found out about the Cosmere! Anyway, more on point, My favourite parts of the Mistborn books were The Shan Elariel fight and Kell's death, but in general I loved allomancy, Kell's insane planning, and the training. For book two, I was genuinely terrified for Elend's empire, and my favourite scenes are Vin and Elend's marriage, Elend beheading Tekiel, and of course the Ascension, with Elend becoming Mistborn. I was heartbroken when Tindwyl died along with Clubs. For book three, I love the opening scene when Elend shows off his allomancy for the first time at Vetitan. I loved the whole climax with the world being remade by Sazed, and most of all, I loved Spook's POVs. I think he swiftly became my favourite character. I remember that after every reread, I went crazy drawing the allomantic table and I painted Luthadel one time (I'm not a great artist). AoL blew my mind with the urban city and guns, but it felt very predictable the whole way through so it wasn't as amazing to me. I still loved it of course. Wayne was my favourite, and I really really loved Wax's power combo with guns.

I kind of naively hope that he means for Dalinar to be Adonalsium 2.0. But I know most people don't think he will survive the series...

Hehe. Very true.

I still think he's talking about Adonalsium.

He hadn't Snapped yet, it was probably being around the crew and Kelsier that got him to know about flowers, since Kell had that rumpled picture of the flower that Mare used to carry. Edited for flow and clarification.

I thought Hoid was talking about Adonalsium...? Was it confirmed somewhere that he wasn't?
-
Hoid changes his appearance anyway. I bet he could make himself look like any people he wanted to. I vote Robert Carlyle.

Just a point for you guys saying people are too old to play the young characters in Stormlight, the years are 500 days on Roshar, so there is a difference of 135 days per year, making Kaladin about 27 if my math check out. Adolin would be just a bit older than that.

Paired Shards and Honour's Opposite

I think if Honour and Odium merged they would be called Justice. -
Mystery Metal, Trell, and a Brandon quote revisited
Khyrindor replied to killersquirrel59's topic in Mistborn
Upvote for you. Some thoughts to add: Shadows of Self doesn't happen until after Stormlight 5, where we will have an inworld break for a few years while he writes more Mistborn. Perhaps (I hope not) Odium will escape his trap on Braize by then and go to taint and raise Scadrial as his second army. However, the way Brandon says Odium is raising a second army makes me think along the lines of the current in world, and in this case, Roshar only, timeline. It doesn't quite run parallel to Scadrial currently, so the quote wouldn't make sense if he is raising a Scadrian Hemalurgical army. That's the first time I've seen that quote and it worries me deeply. -
Jasnah mentions the cosmere several times in WoK, and Hoid mentions it in the letter as well. I suspect that saying "The cosmere" is like saying "The universe" for us. But we see it differently because we know about shards, worlds, etc. In world, characters such as Jasnah probably don't (Although, in Jasnah's case, I certainly wouldn't be surprised).

My brother has a deck that is basically half hydras and half mana/mana multiplying cards. When he plays Hydra Broodmaster (which he has three of by the way) he can literally spawn hundreds of abnormally strong hydras and just win. Its frustrating.

The earring likely lost most of any charge it had because of hemalurgical decay, but it has been theorized that Wax gets a tiny amount of Allomantic pewter that helps him ignore his pain at the end of AoL.

Vedens and Horneaters have pale skin as well I believe. But IMO, you have to sacrifice for movies anyway, just because there is no actual race on earth to match Alethi, doesn't mean that you couldn't make a movie. It just wouldn't 110% true to the book. Here's a few options from my end. Too lazy to do too many right now: Kaladin: Sam Claflin. He's the guy that played Philip the priest in Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides, and he is tall and well built enough to play Kaladin I think. He also played Finnick in The Hunger Games--two very different roles. As Philip I think he did depressed well enough, and he was good at fighting as Finnick. Hoid: Robert Carlyle. He played Dr. Rush in Stargate Universe, and Rumpelstiltskin in Once Upon a Time (though I admit I haven't seen much of that) If you dialed down the silly just a bit, I think he'd make a great Wit.

Also, in one of Dalinar's flashbacks (the one where he was Heb and fought those things) the woman mentions the God Beyond as well.

pretty sure there was a WoB that he doesn't hold a shard.

Where's WalDo: The Kandra Worldhopper
Khyrindor replied to Kobold King's topic in Cosmere Discussion
I'm going through WoK with a fine tooth comb right now. Been overdue for a reread. I haven't actually reread WoR yet even though it was my favourite book. I am a bad Sanderfan... There are probably tons of worldhoppers that we haven't even noticed yet. Brandon has said that we've seen Rosharan worldhoppers out there, but I don't think we've picked any out yet. These little puzzles are fun though.
