  1. I don't think odium would be limited to a pattern for attack from what we know of odium I don't think its intent would work like that. What I think is likely is that honor created the storms to spread spiritual energy or even to control an existing rift between the physical and spiritual realm. The pattern of the storms of almost one a week and then like a month or so of light rain and clouds. I wonder if spren are less common during the weeping? The weeping is what really messes with It. Storms must be important to Voidbringer's too other wise they would just wait for the weeping and attack while all the spheres are dun.
  2. Thrill being of odium makes sense. we know that each magic system is accessed by the intent of the action. im not a 100% sure what odium's intent is so its possible the thrill is a form of power from odium to keep the alethi fighting.
  3. Extremely unlikely that adonalsiumspren exist they would have to have been made before the adonalsium was broken. As such we should see their influence across all the shard worlds. cryptics could be honor spren that keep secrets (that has honor). Cryptics do seem to exist in the cognative realm almost completely. Why they are able to alter the physical realm is a mystery. Edit spelling
  4. there is evidence that Stormlight can even be absorbed from an individual that is holding it. So having that be a build in feature is good for Radiants to have. A good thing to note is odium's and honor's power both comes from the same place and is the same, it is only the intent of that power that is different. So it is possible that the only difference between void-binding and surge-binding is the intent of the user. He says both that he can't use his lashings against a man in shard plate and that his lashings interfere with with the gems if he was in it(Side note this means he has most likely had the opportunity to try). This is most likely because shard plate is made of storm light and we know things that are already invested don't like to have other investiture in them.
  5. I don't think Dalinar could have use Elohkar's spheres, Shard plate would have by necessity a blocking ability to prevent storm light from being drained from the spheres. Other wise Radiants would be way to easy to take down, just drain the sphere and bam they can't move. I don't think Elohkar could have taken in the storm light and not noticed. The gems to power a suit are larger bigger even then probably all of the ones Kalladin had at any given time. I suppose it is possible that he immediately breathed it out. I wonder if the other groups of Radiants are even able to take in storm light like Kalladin and lift.
  6. When was it confirmed that the recipient of the letter is a dragon?
  7. The list did include instructions for some of the kills so its reasonable to guess that he said kill this guy then kill his successor when he is chosen. Mr T did tell him to contact him alone kill no on if possible and talk to him first. so telling him to sit around a little bit or come back after they got a new one is not unreasonable.
  8. Thank you I had not see that information yet, Very interesting.
  9. From my understanding they would have all know each other maybe not all friend but at least acquaintances before they took up the shards. if you look at preservation's and ruin's agreement it shows that even opposites can work together. Odium does not necessarily want total destruction. So maybe honor offered him a challenge and the binding rules of that challenge upheld by honors power are what can bind odium to it. I don't think honor could compel odium against his will into a binding agreement. Early on when this most likely happened they would have still had some of there own intent unlike ruin who spent a very long time bound my the mind of preservation. Its possible that ruin is an outlier for total consumption of his own intent due to his long imprisonment. Granted if Rayse is Odium then his intent and the shards were probably very close to start with.
  10. Good point Wonko it seems to me that preservation would have been compelled to follow ruin to prevent him from destroying everything he ran into. Ruin may have chosen to settle there and preservation followed him to undermined him a every turn. in the beginning they would have been shaped less by the shards will too.
  11. So i have been poking around the forums the last couple of days and I have had a hard time pinning down some information so feel free to tell me I'm wrong. I figure that the Knights radiant were not started by the haralds just that the 2 had parallels in intent and philosophy. The time line as I always saw it Nodohan wrote the way of kings and helped founded the knights radiant during a distant desolation using his teachings and and the teaching from the heralds. Then as the herald returned for each desolation and may have taken control of there respective orders. After the last desolation the oath-pact was broken and honorblades were abandoned. I always thought the remaining Heralds left and inevitably founded the silver kingdoms and lived out a mortal life and died. I never thought of them as ageless figuring their long life was tied to the blades that they abandoned. then the silver kingdoms broke down after the heralds died. soon then after the Radiants abandon the kingdoms which then cut Urithiru off from the world. Lots of gaps still like how/when were the plains shattered Please if there is evidence to the disprove this please let me know. I keep hearing that people think the heralds are ageless is that something Brandon had reveled? Edit note: crossed out dis proven information Edit note 2 altered per hoser's post: nodohan could have founded the radiants but shard blade still would have had to have been made by heralds. Shard blades were made to fight thunderclasts. something only heralds would have planned and even had the knowledge to make.
  12. I like this theory on account of if you look at it in relation to Dalinar. We know He went to the Nightwatcher and that one part of His curse/boon is that He can't remember His wife. If we go on the assumption that it is His curse then it is possible that cultivation made him forget his wife to help him to move on an form a new relationship (while still providing something he would see as a curse). Something I don't think he would have done if he could still remember his wife. Of course it is just as likely that He went there to remove Her from His mind because the pain was to great.
  13. For some reason I had thought preservation created the mines to provide an extra safeguard against ruin, but now that I think about it more I can't really recall if they did. I will need to reread.
  14. Don't know how I missed that the first time thanks. I would guess of some special relation ship between the connected orders not a spren distinction, but who knows could be. I would think like a commonality of the orders individual ideals.
  15. It is good to note that they for the most part were slaves and it would have been suspicious to exchange more valuable spheres into less valuable diamond broams. Edit note: used wrong word opps
  16. What map are you referring to?
  17. Well the geodes were formed in sharp crystal recesses that were constantly forming them. So its not like they a constantly digging for the geodes that contain the bead. It would really be more of using the liquid power to create the metal which is why Lerasium is does not grow and that only a set amount was place at the well, possible created by Preservation at the same time the pits were created to harvest the body of Ruin.
  18. From my understanding it should be possible to create god metals from the pool. I expect that the process to do so is something only a shard could set up(see Pits of Hathsin). Of course that only works if the liquid pool for ruin is below the pits.
  19. That does make sense it is also possible that there are some people back then that could see them so that knowledge of them would have been possible but not common.
  20. Spren had to have been around in Dalinar's visions the author of the way of kings mentions them in relation to surgebinding I think. It is however likely that they did not become as common until later.
  21. What if Odium shattered Honor without first killing the holder of the shard? That way he would not pick up the shard and have its intent added to his current shard. How could honor create the message that Dalinar sees in his vision? What if he created it after the shard was shattered but before his power was dispersed and he died? We know that the physical body is kept in a kind of limbo and sustained by the shard. Maybe he he imprinted this as part of his dying thoughts on the power or even that he is still partially in existence somewhere?( maybe body stuck in the spiritual realm unable to reform and die fully) If Honor's shattering left a large amount of unguided energy like left on Sel, that could explain why the storms are so strong. The Dor it is described as a massive amount of spiritual energy that is trying to break through when an Elantrian draws an Aon. Part of Honor's energy could be being blasted out through the storm like the Dor trys to escape on Sel. Where cultivation then binds the extra energy and creates spren. That is why spren are both of Honor and Cultivation. It would also make sense why there are no spren in Shinovar.
  22. Yes clearly not something that is safe to do because how do you stop the person your selling it to from just killing you and take the massive amount of money they had to be paying you for it. Also see how Amaram reacted to the blade and plate.
  23. My bet is the honor blades were secured by the original holders after the breaking of the oath pact.
