  1. If you need an upgrade for Guards. I would suggest learning what action your target was attempting to do. It seems like it would be a nice upgrade. Also, signing up as Taswell, the "leader" of a minor House that has no real power.
  2. Rule Clarifications: The Forgotten win when they outnumber the Soldiers.
  3. "You can't leave." stated the mob. Rose-Mary Tyler paused, looked at the crowd of soldiers, turned back around, and started walking faster. Mr. Klenien put his arm on her her shoulder. "I said, 'You can't leave'" She pushed him off, and broke into a run. "She's getting away!" shouted Mya. The crowd rushed after the quiet woman, blocking her escape. Rose tripped, falling into the dirt. "Why don't you say something? We're trying to find out who the traitors are, and you're just standing there! You're one of them, aren't you?" Rose was trying to say something, anything, to get out of this situation. Her tongue refused to work, so she tried ducking between one of the soldier's legs. Caccoo grabbed her before she could escape. It was all the town needed to convince them of Rose's guilt. Lenny couldn't watch. It was all too much for him. He had never been the brightest man around. How was he supposed to find Forgotten? It wasn't fair. It didn't make any sense. It was starting to rain now. It might wash away the blood, but the stains would remain. There was nothing left. There was only a variety of bribes. He looked at a particularly good bottle of wine. He could take it if he wanted too. It would be better if he was drunk. Sadly, he wouldn't even get that luxury. And as the rain turned into a storm, his blood mixed with the puddles. Vote Count: Budgie (5): Caesura, Devotary of Spontaneity, Orlok, Brightness Radiant, Elenion Elenion (2): Kynedath, Monster Metroid Devotary of Spontaneity (1): Steeldancer A Budgie was lynched. They were a Soldier. Living Legend was killed. He was a Soldier. Items Taken: Camp Supply: Player List: The cycle will end on Saturday, February 10th at 7PM Eastern Time.
  4. That's time. Give me a second to make the next thread.
  5. Rule Clarifications: Yes. Unlike normal role-blocks, a bucket of acid negates any uses of Chalk on that player. In addition, like a normal role-block, it cancels that player's action to use chalk on someone else. No. all items of deceased players are returned to the camp supply. Please note, however, that these are immediately available for anyone to take. This is how 4 people were able to take Buckets of Acid, when there were only 3 Buckets in the supply at the start of the cycle. When Drake died, he dropped a Bucket of Acid that was then picked up by another player. Yes there is. If a player does not post for 2 cycles in a row, that player is killed. Thankfully, no one is in danger from it yet. I'm just letting people know about it.
  6. The platoon realized something was seriously amiss. Why in God's name was there a seriously creepy clown among them? It made no sense. The camp turned to accost Ronald McDonald. "Hey guys, want to hear a joke?" asked Ronald lightheartedly. The soldiers merely stared. How had they not noticed him before? He continued, blithely ignoring their confusion. "I took..." he paused for dramatic effect. "...the map!" He laughed wholeheartedly, squeaking his rubber nose several times for emphasis. The town continued to stare. "That's not funny." said one soldier. "Give it back!" said another. "Want to know what else is funny?" continued the clown. "Drake died while you were all watching me!" The town looked behind them. Sure enough, Drake had indeed been murdered by someone. "And you want to know the kicker? Orlok..." he was laughing at his own jokes now, "Orlok, the thief you know. He's taking..." He was nearly barreled over laughing. "He's taking the gun! Man, ain't that a kick to the head?" The town noticed he was telling the truth, but had more important things on their mind, like shutting up this darn clown. "Give us the map!" someone yelled. "Let me just pull it out of my sleeve." He yanked, and a colorful ribbon of fabric started billowing out of his shirt cuff. "No, not that one, or that one. Maybe this one. I'm sure I'll find it soon!" He continued to pull the long ribbon out of his sleeve, laughing all the while. The village had quickly tired of this charade, and a swift blow to the head ended it. They quickly searched the body, not finding the map, or anything indicating the clown was a Forgotten. In the end, Ronald had gotten the last laugh. 7. And that's time. Thread is now closed.
  8. I feel the need to address this. I will not confirm if Orlok is the Thief or not, but the points he makes are legitimate, so I will talk about them. The Thief's win condition is unfortunately broken. I did not account for the stigma of taking a Bribe from the Supply, which makes the Thief's win very difficult to achieve. At the very least, the Thief should only have needed 4 Bribes to win, which would have been more feasible. If I ever re-run this game, I would change the Thief's win condition to getting one of every basic item (Acid, Bribe, Chalk, and Crab) to avoid the problem of Bribes rotting in the supply. It's not impossible for the Thief to win in this version of the game, it's just not likely. I also considered making the Thief Sneaky, which would give them a way to take from the Supply, but that would still lead to the action-tracking problem. On the subject of action-tracking, I knew it was going to be a thing in this game. If I was running the game again, I would probably not reveal who took what. However, I balanced the game on the assumption that players could track who took what. We're still in the middle of this game, so I can't say how I've tried to achieve this. I knew there was going to be an eliminator making the kill who would garner suspicion after the Day 1 scramble. I planned for that. After Day 1, there's a lot more room to hide in, which gives the Forgotten some breathing room. I may have made it too hard for the Forgotten, or I may have made it too easy. I can't say until the game has been wrapped up. One of the ways I accounted for this was the Map. I accounted for the strategy of holding the Map for leverage. This strategy can benefit all sides. The village can hold onto it to prevent the Forgotten from getting a hoard of items. The Forgotten can use it to stop the item tracking problem. The Thief can use it to blackmail the other sides into giving him Bribes. I understand there are issues in this game, and I know I'm biased as the one who designed this game. I'm just asking that people don't game throw based on their preconceived notions of balance. I would rather have the game be accidentally broken than intentionally broken. So please, let the chaos continue. I have no idea how this game will end, and am very excited to see what you guys do. First and foremost, this game is about having fun. If a player wants to skip taking an action for balance purposes, I won't judge. That is their idea of fun. With that being said, I want everyone to try their best, and do well in the game set up for them. Thank you for understanding. Sart
  9. Might as well make this the rule clarification post. On acid buckets. They are used to cancel out an action. This can cancel out any action, from making the elim kill, to taking an item from the supply. If a bucket of acid stops an item from being used, the item will still be lost. A Forgotten cannot take an item and make the kill in the same turn. Likewise, a player cannot use an item and take an item in the same turn. Finally, please note that if a player gets unlucky, and tries to take an item with none left in the supply, it will not be recorded in the write-up. At the beginning of the next cycle, you learn what action your target took. This includes who they were targeting with their action. If your target was role-blocked, you will be told what they attempted to do, but will not be told they were role blocked.
  10. The camp quickly sprang into action, snapping up as many pieces of chalk as they could. Accusations began flying across the camp, causing more and more confusion. Eventually, two suspects, Steelchalk and Thorstein were brought up for treason. There was much debate about who should be executed. The final straw came when it was revealed that Thorstein had bribed a creepy clown not to vote on him. Surely, an innocent person wouldn't bribe someone so selfishly, the camp thought. Sadly, the immigrant couldn't make his case well, speaking in a foreign accent, and was summarily executed. They didn't find any indication of treason, but hoped his nationality counted. Elsewhere, humble Joel looked at the remaining supplies in horror. He realized that they needed more supplies, and fast. They needed to move to a different location, and there was a convenient map to get there. He announced his intention to lead the troop to their new destination, and everyone seemed okay with it. It was only until that evening that he realized he had forgotten to actually grab the map. Doubling back to the pile of goods, he was shocked to notice someone running off with the scrap of paper. He was about to protest, when a rock to the head suddenly shut him up. The town was directionless. Vote Count: MacThorstenson (3): Caesura, Living Legend, Orlok Tsubodai Steeldancer (3): MacThorenston, Jondesu, Drake Marshall Orlok Tsubodai (1): Steeldancer MacThorstenson was lynched. He was a Prepared Soldier. A Joe in the Bush was killed. He was a Soldier. Items Taken: Camp Supply: Player List: The cycle ends on Tuesday, February 6, at 7PM Eastern Time.
  11. That's time. Give me a second to figure out what happened.
  12. That is correct, yes. Sneaky players have to go through the tie break process just like everyone else. The only exception to the tie break process is quick players. To make this totally clear, if a quick player and a normal player goes after the gun, there will be a struggle, the gun will be lost, and the normal player will die.
  13. According to order of actions, yes, that would be the case.
  14. Just for your information, I added in a Rule Clarification section to the sign-up page. Of particular note, if two or more players are up for the lynch, one of them will be killed randomly. Since the main thread is now closed, I guess I'll put rule clarifications here as well. Rule Clarifications: If there is a tie in the lynch, one of the candidates with the most votes on them will be killed randomly. Once again, PMs are open, just include Straw and I. If the Thief wins, everyone else loses. They cannot steal and take from the supply at the same time. Order of Actions: Acid -> Stealing -> Chalk, Crab, Bribe, Map, and giving an item away -> Lynch -> Forgotten Kill and Gun -> Taking Items from the Supply The map requires an action to use. It randomly adds items to the camp supply, one of which is guaranteed to be another map. The distribution is random, but you can expect at least one of every item, with roughly 10 items added total. If 2 Quick players and 1 non-Quick player goes for the gun, a Quick player and the non-Quick player will both die. If 2 Quick players go for the gun, 1 Quick player will die, and the gun will be lost.
  15. If the platoon was going to survive out in No Man's Land, they needed to know what supplies they had left. They were dismayed to see how little they had. Chalk was running especially low. It was the main line of defense against Wild Chalklings, and having so little made everyone antsy. The soldiers could have sworn they had more than that, and so talk began to arise about hoarders. Soon, the discussion would turn into a riot, and some soldiers would not live to see the light. Camp Supply: 3 Pieces of Chalk 4 Buckets of Acid 5 Bribes 5 Spring-Powered Crabs 1 Gun 1 Map Player List: The Cycle will end on Sunday February 4, at 7 PM Eastern Time.
  16. Sign-ups are now closed. PMs and Cycle 1 going out momentarily.
  17. You are correct in that each player has one action per cycle. An action consists of either using an item, taking an item, using the Eliminator kill, giving an item away, or the Thief using their ability. Now for your questions about the Acid Bucket. The acid bucket was designed to act as a Thug role, which means it wouldn't cost an action to use. I did write out answers to your questions, but those answers led me to the degenerate strategy of taking a bucket every cycle, which would make you nigh unstoppable. It also leads to edge cases I didn't consider, like the fight over the gun. Therefore, I am changing what the Acid Bucket does, and am converting it from an passive extra life to a role block you must use an action. I know that doesn't answer your questions, but I think it's important for game balance purposes. In other news, we only have 9 players currently. That's an extremely low amount of players, and less than I would like. I don't want to delay sign-ups, as they have been going on for a week, and that's plenty of time for people to sign up. The game will be starting tomorrow, regardless of the number of players signed up. Unfortunately, unless we get 3 more players, I will have to exclude the Thief role for the time being. I highly encourage people who are dead in the Anonymous Game to sign up. I had originally balanced this game for 15 people, so I would be ecstatic if we can get that many. Finally, I would like to thank @Seonid for being our Impartial Moderator this game. That's always a big help, and if you have any problems with myself or Straw, you can always contact him.
  18. The missive used stiff, formal writing, as if the unit's situation was common-place. They read it over and over again, trying to find someway out. "We have reason to believe that your unit has been infiltrated by traitorous elements. These elements are dangerous, and constitute an immediate threat to the general public. As such, your unit has been quarantined. You are not allowed to leave the front. Leaving the front will be grounds for immediate execution. Do not attempt to leave the front. If you are successful at eliminating the traitorous elements, we will reconsider your sentence. Please note that time is limited. Even now, these elements are plotting against you and your country. Good luck." The soldiers couldn't believe what they were reading. Traitorous elements? Who in their right mind would try to support the wild chalklings. And what was that part about immediate execution? It seemed impossible, and yet, even as the soldiers discussed, the Forgotten among them plotted and waited for their chance to strike. And so another tale of woe and violence began on the plains of Nebrask. Mid-Range Game 27: Quarantine Welcome to Mid-Range Game 27! I'm Sart, the GM, with @Straw as my Co-GM. This game is set in the Rithmatist series. The Rules: Rule Clarifications: Player List: This game will start in a week's time. Let me know if you have any questions about the rules. Quick Links:
  19. This would be an action submitted to the GM.
  20. PMs will be open on Cycle 0, so that friends can coordinate strategies together. After Cycle 0, PMs will be closed, so the thread will be the only place to make arrangements. There will be an inactivity filter based on people not posting in the thread. Hopefully there will be some roleplay in there as well.
  21. @Devotary of Spontaneity I was planning on rounding up, so that we wouldn't lose too many people. Still, it's very likely that people will die on Cycle 0. This game will not be merciful.
  22. The Melee (QF Game) Flavor: Every year, students from Armedius Academy participate in a free-for-all tournament known as the Melee. You're going to be one of those students, hoping to take top prize. Rules: This is a free-for-all game. There are no teams in this game. Each player starts the game with 1 HP. When you have 0 HP, you are eliminated. The last man standing wins the cup. If the game ends with all players dying, the person who survived longest with the most kills will be the winner. Cycles are 48 hours long, but have no day-night distinctions. Cycle 0: To prepare for the upcoming battle, each student is given ample time to prepare their defenses. You can choose from these options. Ballintain Defense (4-point circle) The simplest defense, perfect for those who favor going on the offense. You cannot make Lines of Forbiddance, but your Lines of Vigor deal double damage. Matson Defense (6-point circle) A medium difficulty defense that relies heavily on chalklings. You start with 1 chalkling already drawn. Taylor Defense (9-point circle) One of the hardest defenses to draw, but it is highly defensible. You start with 1 additional HP. Be wary! If more than a third of the players chooses one defense, people will be expecting it, so half the players who chose that defense will be eliminated at the start of the game. With defenses up, our brave Rithmatists will frantically draw 3 types of lines to defend themselves. Each cycle, you can choose one of these options. Line of Forbiddance: Give a player (usually yourself) one HP this turn only. Line of Vigor: Attack another player, causing them to lose one HP. Line of Making: Draw a chalkling on the ground, or send them towards your enemies. When they attack, they deal N damage to N players, where N is the number of chalklings you control. The order of actions is Forbiddance, then Vigor, then Making. Have fun.
  23. A fine game all around. I was so confused at one point that I nearly declared the Spectator Doc to be the Unstable Mistborn. Ah well, it all ends well enough.
  24. According to the rules, only the Mistborn can target Elend with their actions, so we know the Mistborn wanted Drought dead. That would implicate Darkness, but it isn't exactly subtle. It could be the Mistborn wants us to suspect Darkness, and wants us to waste a lynch. That is extremely annoying.
  25. I've been on vacation the past few days but I've been trying to stay active by posting on my phone. Yesterday, I considered voting for Drake, but I doubted myself. I had screwed up once, and I wasn't sure if I wasn't being fooled by the eliminators. I backed off, and voted for an inactive. I wanted to vote for someone at the very least, since I thought the cycle was ending. I'm not a Tineye, but I believe that voting is better than not voting, even on an inactive. Since he is no longer inactive, Shanerockes. In regards to our next target, we're in a tight spot. I have a hunch that the traitors have a Thug, which would balance out the game more. Still, if we kill off too many of them, we can easily lose. On the other hand, there's no good way to find the Mistborn. I'm loathe to lynch someone for killing a bad guy. This is unique to this game so I'm not sure how to deal with this. I'm stuck. I don't want to vote on the people who voted Ornstein. They clearly have better judgement than me. I don't want to vote on the people who abstained, since I practically did that this cycle. I also don't want to vote for those who followed my lead on Arinian, because that might kill a traitor. So I'm going to go with my gut. Drake , my gut just doesn't have a good feeling about you. I was going to vote on you earlier, but I backed off. No more. You're acting like a mayor, and I can't help noticing you're claiming a role that the Mistborn has. If I read the rules right, the Mistborn can use the kill and use one of their other powers in the same night. Thus, he's trying to get away by using a scan result. @A Joe in the Bush can the Mistborn scan and kill in the same night? If not, then I'll remove my vote.
