Then how could he justify "leaving your entire world and everyone on it to burn"?
-
Ways Hoid could hurt/escape you without directly harming you (this is assuming whatever rules he follows prevent him from harming at all rather than killing) 1. Sooth you to sleep and steal all your possessions, leaving you naked in the wilderness 2. Lightweave himself carrying on a conversation with you while running in the other direction. 3. Steelpush you into a tree - gently - and tie you up there while Soothing your hope and Rioting your terror. 4. Hop into Shadesmar and Soulcasters the ground around your feet to quicksand, just up to your feet. 5. Use feruchemical steel to tie you up before you can react. Etc.

Joe, you've conditioned me into highlighting every blank line I see. When I reread things I've written in MS Word, I highlight the lines in case there's anything hidden.

More likely: I felt a sudden, absolute calmness as Hoid looked at me. Brass, I thought. He's burning brass. But I couldn't do anything about it. I sat down, trying to shake off that horrible apathy, but it was so much easier to just fall asleep. The last thing I heard was Hoid, rifling through my pockets and pulling out my wallet. "What language is this on these cards? I've never seen anything like it!"

Maybe there is a change to their eye colour, but it's just small enough that people don't mention it? In a world of millions of people, there are only a couple hundred of these things - small changes might go unnoticed, especially eye colour, which can seem much different depending on the light.

Just being a soother or rioter would be so helpful in real life. You could throw a penny and riot curiosity, for example - and you'd make a killing as a door-to-door salesman. Hell, you could probably make people addicted to your presence just by making them feel extremely, inexplicably happy every time you walked into the room.

No, I'm just making suggestions in the set-up. Actaully, I might.

I'm pretty sure Scadrial is much lower Investiture - and much more efficient than Roshar. The powers are more focused and subtler. So, Vin might Sooth Shallans's wariness walking into an ambush. On the other hand, does Shallan get Pattern? If she does, Vin should get OreSeur.

You could make the light path involve high-cost but ultimately end-neutral Awakening and the dark path involve killing people to make into Lifeless servants, which costs Breath

I was asked to do something less lethal than my usual responsibilities.

I think we can be pretty sure that the Reshi isles are gonna have some kind of significance in the future. Besides, I think we're assuming too much here, namely that we would have the power to change things on the large scale. The only realistic suggestion I've seen has been Kurk's with the data transmission tech, though with the transmission occurring in a 3-D space and instead of 1-D, the possibilities are much greater

I'm on Roshar. I had a very nice figure, or at least I did in the time before WoR.

Step one: Become poker player Step two: Hire a Soother and Rioter to control your emotions so you attract certain spren. Step three: Profit.

I have some things in common with Szeth, in general terms, but some things are totally different - even ironically opposite.

Or you could go with Awakened bandages - Grab Things. It's not perfect, but healing systems in games never are.

I agree that the Returned plotline is perfect for a video game. I think a really awesome way for a game to start could be waking up in a pile of corpses, having just been hanged and left for dead. You break out of the body-collection cart and make your way into the underground, gradually learning about your past.

(SPOILERS!) So on the topic of swords
Swimmingly replied to timemagetim's topic in Stormlight Archive
I think he can, but he's a Cognitive entity bound to a Physical form rather than a Cognitive entity with the ability to manifest in the Physical. While Honorspren's identities are based on the concept of honour, Nightblood's "base concept" is Destroy Evil- 18 replies

the most useless uses for useful powers

The jury-rigging thing basically amounts to any magic system being able to consume any kind of Investiture, with help. So, theoretically, a Surgebinder Inquisitor could power his Allomantic abilities with Stormlight, if it was properly set up.- 18 replies

This needs to be turned into one of those choose-your-own adventure style games, the ones where you get stats and everything.
