Long Game 42: Master of the House
Araris Valerian replied to Jo and the Bush's topic in Sanderson Elimination
I see where you are coming from, Orlok, and my frustration with you is largely in the spirit of the game, rather than me being mad at you personally. I do think I overreacted a bit, because we were both trying to do the same thing (pursue a further personal goal), and were willing to betray the other to do it. Those comments were made within 5 minutes of me having seen the writeup and I was honestly frustrated at the outcome. Had I known your plans, I would have been forced to choose between two choices: helping the people that were helping me, or betraying the person that I knew was plotting against me. That choice was a lot easier for me to make (after having died) than choosing between Fifth and Jondesu, which would have been totally arbitrary. I thought that you, having already won, would hold to the agreement we had over any of your personal goals, and I read you wrong, which is a mistake I won't make again :D.- 352 replies

Long Game 42: Master of the House
Araris Valerian replied to Jo and the Bush's topic in Sanderson Elimination
Maybe it's not the best grounds for winning, but I think Hadrian deserves to win because he was determined to give House Heatherlocke a reputation for being good for its word, even when it cost him his life. I spent the game working with Fifth Scholar and Jondesu, and had a peace treaty with Orlok as well. I had an Atium, so I could allow both of my allies to win despite being in the same House, although Orlok killed me specifically to stop me from honoring my agreement (sorry Jondesu, we should have ignored Straw and killed Orlok that night). I didn't try to coordinate with the other House hardly at all. I have basically no idea what Straw was up to this game, because he was the least active in our House doc and didn't actively try to coordinate actions after the first cycle or so.- 352 replies

Long Game 42: Master of the House
Araris Valerian replied to Jo and the Bush's topic in Sanderson Elimination
The ball had been canceled. Not enough High Nobles were willing to risk visiting another keep when each was so close to achieving leadership of their House. Hadrian wandered the streets of Luthadel, wearing a non-descript outfit that could belong to a wealthy skaa or a lesser nobleman. The mists hung heavier in the air than usual, as if the night itself knew of the murders that would be committed in the next hours. The damp air was comforting in a way that the halls of Keep Heatherlocke never could be, even though Hadrian wasn't a Tineye. His worries vanished among the swirling patterns and his resolve strengthened. He felt so much more alive out at night then he ever did among his politicking peers, during the dancing and the partying. He could only guess how much more real the world felt to a Mistborn, perfectly attuned to the nighttime. Eventually, Hadrian left the night to return to the tedious business of scheming. But the mists had comforted him, and he went to work no longer worried about whether he would live or die.- 352 replies

@A Joe in the Bush Great writeup! There is an error in the player list, since Walin is dead. I'm going to vote for Shanerockes. There are too many people in House Ffnord for my liking.- 352 replies

Long Game 42: Master of the House
Araris Valerian replied to Jo and the Bush's topic in Sanderson Elimination
I don't really want to kill Orlok, and I can't vote for Walin. One easy way to fix this, @Sart, would be just to kill you. Since you are a part of "the Cabal," your death would cause the failure of Orlok's alleged plans.- 352 replies

@Eternum Perhaps the Allomancers don't take orders from me, but at least my orders were useful rather than redundant :D. It just goes to prove my point about the incompetence of House Heatherlocke.- 352 replies

Long Game 42: Master of the House
Araris Valerian replied to Jo and the Bush's topic in Sanderson Elimination
Hadrian grumbled a bit as Olaf asked the other Heatherlockes to back up his story. A man's word just didn't mean what it used to. It probably came from the disreputable name of his House. Nobody would doubt the word of a Heron, or a Ffnord. Even House Penrod had a reasonable reputation for honesty. But, well, he supposed that was why he hadn't been able to infiltrate any of those Houses. The House could use some strong leadership, and perhaps a change of name. Unfortunately, the way things ere shaping up, Hadrian doubted he would be the one making those decisions.- 352 replies

Long Game 42: Master of the House
Araris Valerian replied to Jo and the Bush's topic in Sanderson Elimination
Hadrian spoke up. "There is a faction within our House that is determined to do nothing. While not directly a threat, they are determined that the rest of us should also not be able to do anything either. As a result, our allomancers are receiving conflicting orders and unable to act." Hadrian moved toward Olaf and spoke more quietly.- 352 replies

The thing is, you don't die to a Kandra. Somebody murders you and feeds your corpse to the Kandra. The murder doesn't have to be pleasant.- 352 replies

I would think that getting impersonated by a Kandra would be a thing to be avoided, as a general rule. If you want to get eaten though, that's fine by me.- 352 replies

Long Game 42: Master of the House
Araris Valerian replied to Jo and the Bush's topic in Sanderson Elimination
The Kandra are cool, and I definitely plan on taking them into account for my plans, but there is no way that I'll allow myself to be Kandrafied (which presumably involves dying first) while somebody else in my House (or one of those other sorry excuses for Luthadel nobility) claims all the glory. I'm going to vote for Droughtbringer.- 352 replies

I'll sign up as Hadrian. As for longer cycles, I'd say daytime. @A Joe in the Bush Does the Kandra apply to any death? So, if a player is lynched and a Kandra action targets them, that player instead survives the lynch and changes their win-con?- 352 replies

Long Game 41: INSTABILITY
Araris Valerian replied to Jo and the Bush's topic in Sanderson Elimination
Great game Joe! I enjoyed the fairly straightforward rules and the twists added a lot of flavor. Unfortunately all the exciting stuff happened after I was dead, but I was keyed in on Drake as an eliminator, so I wuldn't have been much good regardless. Nice job winning Steeldancer. I think your the first SE player to get in a relationship with Vin :D.- 410 replies

Long Game 41: INSTABILITY
Araris Valerian replied to Jo and the Bush's topic in Sanderson Elimination
Just popping in (having a hard time sleeping) to respond to Drake about that night I said I was inactive, I sent in an order during the Day and Joe let it go through. In case I survive I'd rather not roleclaim, and I haven't done/learned anything useful to justify claiming to stay alive.- 410 replies

Long Game 41: INSTABILITY
Araris Valerian replied to Jo and the Bush's topic in Sanderson Elimination
@Seonid, why am I a better candidate than Shane? You haven't really presented a case against me, and I'm making the game more fun for everyone (hopefully) by being active. Also, basically every game that I've played, someone says "Araris is flying under the radar." It's definitely not something I try to do, because I've given stances on a lot of things that have happened this game. Also, I'm wiped and need to call it a night. So I won't be able to offer any defense against a bandwagon on me.- 410 replies

Long Game 41: INSTABILITY
Araris Valerian replied to Jo and the Bush's topic in Sanderson Elimination
I'm convinced that Darkness is a village Soother and Drake is not the Unstable Mistborn. Darkness didn't know nutella was dead, so he's probably village or the Mistborn. The Mistborn wouldn't risk getting counterclaimed, so that leads me to believe the DA actually Soothed Drake. Which also means that Drake isn't the Mistborn. I'm decently suspicious of Drake as an eliminator though. @Straw, How can DA be Mistborn? Who do you think actually Soothed Drake? @Seonid, this level of activity and explanation is fairly normal for Straw. My top 3 lynch choices are HH, Straw, and Shane. Straw and Shane have both been present but haven't contributed much to the discussion. HH is still a reasonable candidate for the Mistborn. Drake comes 4th, but he can be seeking for the Mistborn at Night, so even if he is an elim he's useful to keep around for a bit.- 410 replies
