  1. Her eyes are kind of freaking me out...
  2. You have a good point, and I think that many of us - myself especially - should well remember that there is a place and a value in being less strict in our requirements of evidence or conjecture. Sorry, Vestis Etoris Prime Targ if I scared you off! (Cool name, by the way)
  3. I was just referring to the use of "table" in general. I wanted to clear up what I think most of us - myself included - mean by it.
  4. Aether

    Atium Alloys

It might seem overpowered, but remember that Atium (and presumably also Lerasium) burns really quickly - and is besides very hard to find. People would have to be really restrictive with its use, so it wouldn't really unbalance anything.
  5. But then there's the WoB that all KR (and presumably Surgebinders) was human. I do not think Parshendi can surgebind. They have their own magic system of sorts.
  6. Raoden's maid.
  7. Oh, well, OK. I am not saying one should not do that, but that it is usually important to distinguish between the conjecture, well founded hypothesis and rampant extrapolation. All are welcome, of course, but you should also be transparent about which one you are currently playing with.
  8. I do not agree. Rampant theorizing, maybe, but most of us generally back up our hypothesis with quite firm evidence, or at least educated guessing and extrapolation. Some of us will from time to time see two and two and suggest that might make 42 because of some hitherto unknown and unsuspected part of the equation, but it's usually at least partially - if incompletely - backed up by evidence and/or conjecture.
  9. I don't really mean to necro this Thread, but I'd like to comment on a very specific topic. Sorry, Gloom, but I think it is wrong to say that the Shards' intent is involved in the magic system. The workings of Allomancy itself - not looking at how and why it was it was obtained - is end-positive (I cannot find the WoB right now, but I'll edit it in later). You burn metals as a way of tapping the power of Preservation itself. Pushing and pulling on metals, rioting and soothing, etc. has little if anything at all to do with preserving anything. It still takes part in it, but more in how or why it is obtained - as has been said over and over in this Thread. What Kurk and others suggest, on the other hand, is that we can look past any given Shards intent when it comes to the workings of the magic systems. Preservation's Intent has nothing to do with the burning of metals and its effects, just as Honour's has nothing to do with Gravity lashing. Wait, whence did you get the mike? Also, up-vote for the in-depth look look at the process of tattooing.
  10. Oh, yes! Of course! Theoryland is a good source for a lot of WoBs (=Word(s) of Brandon), but the best place to start is probably our wikia, the Coppermind, which is (mostly) well written with links to the original source.
  11. I in particular talk a lot about "the Allomantic Chart". By this I do not mean to imply that Shards are sitting around drawing up charts and tables and figuring out the best way to scientifically (-ish) set up their magic systems (much like Brandon himself does, come to think of it), but that there clearly are some groupings and similar tendencies that seem intentionally designed.
  12. I have also considered that Gavilar might have had something to do with it, but she did really seem fond of him, at least later on when they were studying the Parshendi together. On the other hand, that Navani quote really seems ominous.
  13. Right next to the "insert/remove numbered list" button, there is a "link" button. Mark the word(s) you want to link to a website, and then press the link button. It should look like this: "take a look at this!"
  14. I think most people on this forum, with a few notable exceptions, put the Way of Kings rather high on their list. It is on mine, anyway. And I recommend you the Emperor's Soul too, a solid #2 for me!
  15. Imagine how fun it would be if it turned out you're right But yeah, it is usually better to find evidence to support one's hypothesis, Unless you preface it by calling it wild speculation. Which is bloody fun!
  16. Hrathen when he kills Dilaf.
  17. Welcome to the site! I recommend entering the different sub-fora with caution. It can be quite frightening to the uninitiated, but don't worry, it is awesome once you've gotten used to the bickering. =P
  18. Scadrial EDIT: Ninja'd
  19. Yes, because it looks awesome. And sell, though she might do something about her freckles. The 17th Shard community will start making Epic Rap Battles of Cosmere.
  20. I would guess Ahan.
  21. I am tempted to say Dalinar, but he doesn't drink any more.
  22. Redemption! Easy.
  23. They would still be limited by their amount of Stormlight, though. Demi-god like, rather
  24. Buy. We have. Cusicesh the Protector is an assumed "Adonalsiumspren". The ERB should make an Epic Rap Battle between Tanavast and Rayse.
