According to WoB it gives some sort of power but not like a nahel blond. The principle is the same but the outcome is different. Like how Vasher cannot Awaken on Roshar. I think you have to rewrite their spirit web so they could firstly access the main source of investiture and secondly adapt their abilities which might not even be useful in the new system. Like using an adapter when you visit another country.

I disagree. Anyone using Nightblood could do those things. Like anyone using a shardblade could cut inanimate objects that doesn't mean they are defiantly bonded to them and are automatically a radiant. Kaladin used Pattern when he was in the shattered planes with Shallan yet he was unbonded to him. If he was he could do lightweaving. I'm just saying that since Nightblood didn't grant Vasher any special powers that were independent of wielding him like gaining an extra heightening or something related to awakening on his own world, it is unlikely that he would be able to use the "bond" they have to access stormlight and utilise it the same way as Skybreakers do on Roshar.
-
All of this is fascinating but we keep avoiding the fact that Nightblood didn't actually didn't give Vasher any new powers. He was returned on his own... he created Nightblood (Well Shoshara? did). Nightblood is an separate entity to its wielder. A bond with a Spren however does give new abilities like using stormlight. It sounds very romantic to have a sword that can "destroy evil" but Sazed without stormlight will not be as effective of a fighter especially against other radiants with shard blades.

Brilliant! I laughed so hard when I saw this. That's kind of what I think. It would be interesting if Spren start to bond with "real" Skybreakers and then they have to have a showdown with the fake ones.

So I know there are a lot of theories on Darkness being Nalan and if he is actually the Patron of Skybreakers but lets say he really is Nalan and recruited Szeth. If Szeth is on his way on becoming a Skybreaker where is his Spren? I know he has Nightblood but from what I remember Nightblood didn't give his wielder any extra powers. So does this mean he won't be able to use stormlight anymore? Will he get a spren later or Nalan is so against spren that he won't allow it (seeing as he kills all potential knights) So thoughts?

Figures. I thought I would've seen a WoB like that before

How do you know Vasher has been on Roshar for that long?

"You must find the most important words a man can say"
lookingglass replied to Gaz's topic in Stormlight Archive
On another note... I was listening to the WoR audiobook and before Gavilar dies he's talking to Amaram. What if the "brother" he is referring to isn't Dalinar but Amaram? He seems to have told him a whole lot more about stuff and Amaram is supposedly working towards something Gavilar wanted.- 19 replies

Hoid's "connection" to magic systems
lookingglass replied to lookingglass's topic in Cosmere Discussion
Awesome! I hadn't seen this so thanks for the new reading material -
I was going through the wiki and reading about feruchemy where I found this: "Duralumin is used to store Spiritual connection." I know the Ars Arcanum specifies that Duralumin helps with frienships but what if Hoid uses it to "connect" to the spiritual realm on each planet and tweak his Spiritweb so he can access the magic systems? Thoughts?

You Know You're a Sanderfan When...
lookingglass replied to Shardbearer's topic in General Brandon Discussion
When you believe that you should translate all of Brandon's books into another language so an entirely new country would benefit from the awesomeness of Brandon Sanderson's work and wisdom. -
I know most people assume that Elhokar is seeing Cryptics but he doesn't seem like he has the characteristics of a lightweaver. Shallan first saw pattern in her drawings but Elhokar sees his spren in the mirrors. I just think that if they both are from the same order their spren would show themselves in the same way. Also unless paranoia can be considered the art of spinning long tales on alternative death scenarios then he is no artist and having creative streak was essential to becoming a lightweaver.

the most useless uses for useful powers
lookingglass replied to king of nowhere's topic in Cosmere Discussion
Possibly the best command ever! It would be even better to use the Mona Lisa or another famous painting and drain its colors to awaken the puppet. -
This might be an extremely stupid question and the answer is possibly staring me right in the face but how on earth did Szeth get to Urithiru in the interludes? Did he come through oathgate in the shattered plains or maybe a locked on? If so do honor blades work the same as shardblades as a fabrial key? If he didn't get through the oathgates did he just stumble upon it one day or the Stone Shamans told him about it? So many unanswered questions!

Manchester Signing - August 5, 2014
lookingglass replied to ChocolateRob's topic in Events and Signings
I got Brandon to sign a few of my books and write some stuff in it. First, I asked him what Sazed was up to and he said he was "Harmonizing". Then I asked him to tell me something about Nazh and Khriss and he wrote that "Khriss is Nazh's employer. He gets the worst end of the deal" lastly i asked him to write something about the Nightwatcher and he said "The Nightwatcher isn't the same as Cultivation" I thought of hundreds of better questions later but I completely forgot them when I saw him and fan girled majorly from what I got from him it confirms Khriss and Nazh's relationship and that the Nightwatcher is likely Cultivations spren like the Stormfather. When I asked him about the gender of the Nightwatcher he hesitated a bit and seemed uncertain and first said its not the same as cultivation which is female then referred to it as a she which was confusing. -

You Know You're a Sanderfan When...
lookingglass replied to Shardbearer's topic in General Brandon Discussion
When you fall asleep every night listening to every single Sanderson Book. When you have more theories about SA than theories involving your research project. -
I actually agree with this but I just think that honor might think that ruin is evil or any of the other shards. Syl couldn't agree with the killing of the King and others but other orders might not think that way. I think Brandon said somewhere that Adolin killing Sadeas wouldn't be considered bad in some KR groups. However it wouldn't be tolerated with Honorspren. The same goes for the shards. The KRs are mainly of honor and since honor doesn't like the idea of the other 6 shards he doesn't use 16 orders but 10. Preservation is all about "preserving" so he used 16 in the allomatic arts.

Please say that he loved it and he's going to put it in as a summary in the next book

That is an awesome title. I also like the description as well. Though maybe they would set out to destroy the fire quenchers to restore the light of the world instead?

How about A Bloody stick in the Night: Conquering evil. I guess that's a bit gothic. Or maybe Destroying Evil: How their love "beat" destiny. I'm horrid at picking names. Especially romantic ones. I actually typed Stick and Nightblood into a romance novel name generator but I kept on getting "The White Enchantress" which makes no sense
