  1. To me, they look green... but it's hard to tell from Google Images. I looked all over. (This does not make me a stalker.)
  2. Offering cookies is frowned upon. At least, for those not in the Alleywatchers. It's kind of what they do.
  3. I'll recommend Elantris and Mistborn. Both fabulous books. You know the name of Numuhukumakiaki'aialunamor? I like you already. (And yes, I am also a lighteyes.) Welcome to the 17th Shard!
  4. Mistrunner grants awkwardspren to all who have asked to join. "You have now a great responsibility. There are many who have succumbed to the terrible bane of popularity. We must show them the light of being awkward. And no spiking other members, Alleywatchers."
  5. Congratulations. That's how you join. Welcome to our guild! Edit: Well, you have to say the first oath.
  6. Rainier looked around and noticed the fight. Great. I've landed in a brawl. Still, she couldn't just leave this man here. So she managed to grab under his arms and drag him into another alley, away from the other people. Hopefully they wouldn't notice her. Rainier didn't know the first thing about first aid. When she'd gotten sick, she'd waited for it to tide over. If she'd been hurt, she wrapped up whatever had been bleeding. She'd never had any serious wounds. Like this man... She was a little queasy. Blood. She hated blood. She could deal with it, but she'd really rather not. So she just tried to find where it was coming from, and cut some bits off his shirt with her knife to wrap it hastily. It would have to do. Until... Until what? Rainier had no idea. So she just sat there, back to the wall, next to a possibly dying man. Her day had become, quite suddenly, really, really messed up.
  7. Hmm... a devious plan, Lord Phoenix.
  8. The Surge of staying up until 3:00 AM reading Sanderson novels. The Surge of reading in general. The Surge of Theorizing. ... and many more we do not know of yet.
  9. Mist automatically corrected her hat, staring open-mouthed. "What's happened? What- who-?" She automatically tapped a zincmind for a second, but it was getting very low and she had to stop before it ran out. "Rust and ruin!" she muttered, swiveling back and forth, attempting to figure out what was going on. She calmed herself. Deep breaths. In, out. She started thinking. This was so cursed slow without a zincmind. She really needed to refill hers... Okay. Breathe. Look around. There was a man lying on the ground with blood pooling around him. The hat-stealer had gone over to his side and had bound the wound. He was now sending a message somewhere- probably for an ambulance. Should she use tin? No, it was too loud around here... Then Mist had a thought. I'm stupid. I'm so, so, storming stupid! She had five more zincmind bracelets! Sometimes, Mist, I wonder if you becoming a Sparker was some joke of nature. She tapped zinc. And her mind snapped into focus. Storms, but that felt good. She scanned the streets quickly, dashing over to look at the crossroads. No. No... none of them. She had seen just a glimpse of the man before he'd disappeared... no one fit. And that left one option, one place to look. Up. She glanced upwards just as the edge of someone's shoe disappeared from sight. She stopped tapping her zinc. She had what she needed to know. "RESOOL!" she yelled, turning back and running to where she had left them. "The person who stabbed the man! I think he's a... a..." she felt awful as she again noticed the man lying there, dying. She should have been paying attention to him!
  10. Mistrunner replies, "You may join, as long as you keep your annoying jokes away from those of us reading. However, I doubt that will deter you Quipsmiths."
  11. Nerds are the best! Welcome! You might want to look around here a little more before accepting that cookie. There's more here than what meets the eye... Also, if you're a lurker, you might want to join the Forumlurkers of the Order of the Knights Awkward. We're quite the illustrious group.
  12. Well, he's got a fever and his toes are blue.
  13. "If I remember correctly, she is the leader of the Pack of the Cosmere. The Knights Awkward accept the alliance, as we are a new and rather small guild that would rather not be ripped apart by wolves."
  14. "I am Mistrunner. The Knights Awkward would like an alliance, as long as we don't have to attend any meetings. We have books to read, as you know."
  15. Mistrunner nods regally. "Your Words are accepted. The Knights Awkward have been refounded. Popularity shall be defeated."
  16. So this is what we do? We collect... emotions? I can go with that.
  17. Speak again the hallowed oaths: Books before friends. 17th Shard before the real world. Release dates before birthdays. This guild is for those of us who will pledge our allegiance to the cause of... well... being awkward. Our best friends are fictional characters. We stay up late at night, watching the comforting blue glow of our various devices as we look up obscure things on The Coppermind. We read and reread books for traces of Hoid and various awesomeness. The Knights Awkward must rise again. The orders are as follows (spoiler tags for length)
  18. Winter- thanks for letting me use yours! Curiosity- I stuck yours up on the intro thread. If you don't want it there, tell me. Edit: Aaaand it's up! The Knights Awkward is now an official guild!
  19. ...gracious. I see a new guild forming.
  20. True. And behind the tone of my response, I really was interested to see if there was some base for this. And what about other magic systems? Roshar? If Lift, who's thirteen, can become an edgedancer, what about younger people? I think kids can Snap, if (Mistborn spoiler) Anyone up for baby-based theorizing?
  21. Hey! Cool! My nicknames include, but are not limited to, Estroid, Lester, Pester (Older brothers. Nuff said), Shmester, Meep, and Peach (I did not agree to this).
  22. Mist knew that there were many fedoras in the city, but this one was hers. She could always tell. She had a weird sort of connection to her hats. Even the annoying ones. Mist finally caught up with the man who had now turned to face her, a shocked expression on his face. She stopped a moment to catch her breath. "That... is... my hat," she explained, reaching out a hand.
  23. Hey- I was just rereading Firefight today and thought about that! If others think so, it must be true... Welcome to the 17th Shard, a madhouse of loons! If we haven't scared you off yet, you should check out the guilds and RPG forums. They're cool, if a bit scary.
  24. I thought this would be a theory about whether babies can become epics. This is slightly better. Slightly.
  25. "There are no ideals past the first," the Cryptic whispered. "Now, you must speak truths." Mistrunner took a deep breath. "You want a truth?" she said. "I have no social life." "Ah... a powerful truth indeed." Speak again the hallowed oaths: Books before friends. 17th Shard before the real world. Release dates before birthdays. The Knights Awkward must stand again.
