He wasn't supposed to be in Bridge 4 it seems. He mentions that Hoid believed him dead (Hoid brings it up too), so I imagine his plans went to hell somewhere, and that is why he is in that situation. It may have been an accident initially, but then Hoid intentionally left Sigzil in Bridge 4 when they realized what Kaladin was doing.

You are all forgetting the glamorous Highprince of Fashion! I bet you'd find one for entertainment too. Someone to host/arrange the dueling and events and that sort of thing. Right now it is done by various Highprinces, but I bet in a untied Alethkar, it is more organized.

hah, I think Adolin would have some difficulty giving Kaladin to anyone. Kaladin won't be given anymore, I think

I decided today, after weeks of thinking on it, that Sigzil is a Terrisman worldhopper. I'll just throw my thoughts out here quickly. - Sigzil is Hoid's apprentice. Hoid is a known worldhopper. - Sigzil's name is very close to another Terrisman we are familiar with. Hint: it is Sazed. I don't recall there being any rules on Terrisman names being similar, but it is noticeable, so I stuck it on. I think they also have a similar skin tone. - Sigzil displays (what I believe to be) Terris-like behavior as he is one of very few bridgemen who was fully clean shaven even before Rock had his razor. It's not great evidence, but the fact that Brandon goes out of his way to single out Sigzil in that makes me feel like it is on purpose. - Sigzil clearly has a hunger for knowldege. We know him to be a "Worldsinger" and have an understanding for many many Rosharan cultures and locations. There is also the scene when Kaladin is explaining what he can do with Stormlight where Sigzil spouts of around 8 questions rapid fire - very scholarly details that would be more like specific measurements than any of the others probably care to know (in context the others are asking him if he can fly, and Sigzil wants to know measurements on the things Kaladin has already said, like how long bonds hold). Maybe the most important to me: -Sigzil's voice in the audiobook, voiced by Michael Kramer, is identical to Kramer's Terrisman voice. I know it is going to be a big series and he will have to reuse several voices, but it is identical. Like, sometimes I think Sazed is speaking. That won't sound like much to many people, but Kramer also used Sazed's voice Sazed's notes at the start of each Mistborn HoA chapter. In all honesty, it ruined the surprise for me a tad, which I'm fine with, but it does show that he is willing to use the proper accent even if it is telling. I think Brandon told him to use a Terris accent for Sigzil on purpose. I could use some help on this theory if anyone has any proof of any of those similarities or anything that goes against them. It's something that has been on my mind personally but I haven't done a ton of research on.

Nice. I don't know why that age for Szeth seems really old to me. I figured he'd be somewhere around 32. He's just so spry!

Yeah, I've always been hopeful of a sort of combination/cooperation being behind those. Like they can enhance each others abilities in some way. More than just the product of their Surges being helpful though... I'm not going to say they are going to create a Megazord, but something in that ballpark of awesome.

Whether it is true or not, I love it, and from me you receive roaring applause just for finding a potential system. I think that there is going to be one more layer of complexity that comes from better understanding those linking lines. It's going to be a doozy, I think. I'd also like to keep taking looks at that other chart. Perhaps it is how the Surges function in Shadesmar? That might have my vote right now (which changes weekly). Great post though.

I'm almost 100% certain those dates aren't the same as what is happening in the chapter. People seem confused about this. It is a log of the Deathrattles that are being heard. They don't happen at the exact moment in time that the chapter starts. In the same way, the pieces of the Letter that are at the head of some chapters are not being written at the same time as the beginning of the chapter. The time stamps are just a note like the rest of the information on the Deathrattles. I think Cheese was meaning something slightly different - the death rattle describing the event happened AT the event. There is also 0 evidence for that. In fact there is plenty of evidence against it. There are Deathrattles describing things that happened far into the past relating to the Heralds. The Heralds are still out there, and it is possible that they are so crazy by now that they are reliving old things in their head or something, but that is a bit far-fetched. That being said, Cheese, I am maybe the most confused person on this site when it comes to the timeline. Sometimes I want to know, then someone tries to explain, and then I decide I'd rather stay stupid and be totally surprised by any timeline twists that may occur. There really isn't a ton of information though.

It's a good topic Shardlet. In the broadest definition of this question, I'm going to say no, but I'm also going to refrain from responding to other comments in the interest of keeping this post healthy and unlocked, hahaha.

Right, the point of that quote was to say that if he hopes to never have another case similar to Szeth- a Truthless - he would be saying they also hope to never have another warrior. In the same way, if he will not trade Szeth for value because he is Truthless, but he will trade other warriors as is common, all warriors are not Truthless. I'm not one to try bringing down a theory unless there are clear contradictions, and these are pretty clear.

I just wanted someone to say "Only the Lethani is of the Lethani" and get it over with. Just blow their minds.

Jezrien, Shards, and the identity of the Broken One
Bloodfalcon replied to FirstSelector's topic in Stormlight Archive
Id rather it be a spren than Jez, but humans can go to Shadesmar, and Heralds would know all about travel in and out of there if only though talking to the Orders that could do it. I imagine most have done so.- 62 replies

I like how it seems like the storm is kind of bending toward Kaladin and Szeth is in the darkness. The distance of the storm probably says that that is not literally what is happening, but it is cool foreshadowing if things turn out as expected.

We need to stop beginning posts with Wild Speculation and Theory. I can't keep them straight!

By your own point, there is a chance that his Heralding days are not over - the spren lost their KR, but now are rebonding. It even seems like spren that have previously had bonds are rebonding. Syl says that she has helped kill before in the way Kaladin did at the Tower. I don't think he is just a mortal man right now. He could be, and it would still fit, but I hope not. Someone needs to come train our Radiants! Also no real confirmation that Jez is the DroolerTM , correct? Even though that is certainly the fan favorite.

That one was also on my mind, but I'm never sure on this forum if Rothfuss or Jordan is the correct reference. 11th and Chleh, I invite you both to read the deleted scene if you haven't already. It looks like they put great value on truth, but Truth is something more. "I will remember, friend,” Thresh said. “But I do not think it likely we will have another like him.” He seemed to grow distracted. “Indeed, I should hope that we never do….” That sounds just a tad bit more dramatic than "wow, he was fighting and we don't accept that." I think it was more like, he did something extremely vile - according to Truth. Chleh, there is also a very strange tradition with the Parshendii and parshmen where they are compelled to place their dead on a slab of stone. There is definitely a connection there, I just can't put everything together on it, though I have had some thoughts that it has something to do with turning them into Thunderclasts at some point. Not sure, but it would mean they have been alright dying in this war because they know that during the Desolation, their bodies will be transformed by some spren to produce something even scarier. Another wild theory thrown at this poor thread.

Being Truthless is unique. Rsyn's mentor asks about the possibility of getting another Truthless, and the Shin man responds with something along the lines of "no, and I hope we never experience anything like him for a long time." It makes him sound like an anomaly. That and the deleted scene says that Truth is about much more than being bound to a stone. I don't think the concept changed THAT much. The "Stone shaman will retrieve the Blade" line I think is also overstated on the forum. I only noticed on my reread, but in context, it doesn't sound like they will be using some crazy knowledge or ability to retrieve the Blade. It sounds like a standardized thing. Like, we can just send another of our amazing assassins to go kill whoever took it. I think Szeth is special in his assassin abilities, but I think he was just remarking that when the Shin learned of his death, they would take the necessary steps to get it back. Personally I hope they do have some crazy connection with the Blade so that it is extra significant somehow, but I just don't hear it the same way anymore. I made a post a while back that connected the stone shamans to the Honorblades and theorized an extremely similar cause, and I still want that to be the case. Recently I have also been thinking it is possible for the Shin to be the descendants of some KR as well. They do seem to know an awful lot about things, including Surgebinding. Tanavast as well as the rest of the histories of Roshar say that the Recreance was the end of the Knights Radiant, but the distinction is also made several times in the book that KR are not the same thing as Surgebinders. That is a great point on Szeth POV's not freaking out about Parshendii. I missed a very very obvious point there. But the gist is that I think he want against the Truth in one of those ways that got him temporarily banned until someone considered him worthy of returning and sent him back.

I decided on a new theory that is certainly miles and miles away from being provable, but I think is the most fun with regards to this thread and a reread of Brandon's Szeth draft. It is not technically canon, but Szeth, referred to as Jek in the deleted first draft on brandonsanderson.com, gives several points on what "Truth" is. It seems to be a moral code much like that of the Aiel in WoT. A big piece of that is that you cannot harm a woman, child, or non-warriors. I think that that piece is going to carry over into the final idea of what Truth is. It is telling enough that it is a system rather than "what is trueth or lie". Anyway, to combine our ideas, what if Szeth did know about the Parshendii having a part in the Desolations/Voidbringing, and he harmed the Parshmen that lived in Shinovar. If others weren't convinced, it would be enough to have him considered Truthless for harming non-warriors. If the Parshendii are connected to the Voidbringers, it all connects to that quote rather well! I replied to Argent to get his take on he deleted scenes definition of Truth.

It's always been my impression that their powers were tied into the Oathpact. Their decisions seemed to be the deciding factor on whether or not it remained. If part of it was to have them get tortured for centuries and then they stopped.... I just felt like it was a reward system for their pain.
-
Yeah, he does get a book. I don't think he is dead either. I think Hoid being there will have something to do with saving him or maybe taking him away, like offworld. Either way, I think since he says the Oathpact is shattered, that means the Heralds can die-die again.
-
It is elsewhere, but it is still fun to talk about! This quote in particular has spawned several theories. I made one myself a while back that related the quote to Szeth possessing a Shardblade. I think it is a reasonable assumption that his Truthlessness has something to do with his Blade, Surgebinding, or some culturally specific misconduct. I'm not sure about the converting or the Everstorm, but the rest I like! EDIT: It would be fun if he had seen the same visions as Dalinar though, and attempted to warn people in the same way. There was a WoB that he used to be a respected member of the Shin community. That is similar to what we see with Dalinar. I love speculation.

Excerpt from Words of Radiance: Chapters Six, Eight, and Nine
Bloodfalcon replied to kobain's topic in Stormlight Archive
Hey, to each his own! I appreciate Rothfuss for so many things, but plot organization and planning are huge for me, and Wise Man's Fear felt really choppy - distractingly so. Cringeworthy wittiness can be attributed to characters, but plot falls on one man. I don't have a problem rating authors better than one another, especially when I would buy up any piece of writing from either in a heartbeat or ten. -

Thank you for noting the difference between Szeth's situation and loaning. I was considering making almost a PSA post about how it is most definitely different, but I won't now. Also, I agree on all accounts of that jerkface paragraph. I also cringed at the Shallan "wittiness" in the first few WoK chapters. Rothfuss is very good at this; it felt to me like I was reading an extended, free verse poem for the Name of the Wind. I should note for fairness' sake that I consider Brandon the better writer still due to his pacing, suspense, and planning. -
Love it, Moog
