The Mists had once again cloaked the town or Urteau, an oppressive blanket of silence lay over the city just as thick as the swirling mists. The Crew had finally tracked down and killed the Inquisitor, Cessie. It really was a perfect cover, who ever would have suspected the quiet, proper noble lady? But she was dead now, and Gamon was happy to believe she would stay dead. If she could survive being torn to pieces like that... well then this group was screwed no matter what. Not only that, Gamon also now happened to have a sack full of coins. He had actually managed to find somebody to buy the horses.... he just hoped not too many people asked Roban what the meat was in tonight's stew. Gamon was just randomly roaming through the Mists, they felt a little bit safer now that Cessie was gone. But there was still an evil presence out there. The ones Cessie converted, Gamon reminded himself. Now we have to find out who they are. Back to square one. Surprisingly, Dyring's bar was practically empty, besides the few people randomly stopping in to serve themselves a glass of the Antidote Water. The Inquisitor might have been dead, but everybody still had Modeft's cursed poison coursing through their veins. The job wasn't finished just yet.

Hmm. Well I remember in the one game Meta linked us to (The Hitchhiker's Guide crazy game), they had a currency system in place. Where doing X action during the day or something gave you so much, if I remember. WHat if in the next game we have the same thing, but Mistings need to BUY their metals to restock? Everyone starts with, let's say, 3 days worth of metals or something. Would defintely add an interesting dynamic, I think. You could know if somebody's a Misting, but you won't know if they can use their power or not. Edit: or, if we end up doing Roshar style elimination, could use Gems instead. and then we'd have to wait for them to recharge during "Highstorms".

I love the implied drawing-and-quartering. Absolutely fantastic write-up, Meta! Wish I could up-vote even more. It really looks like UberTin basically screwed us all, especially with Meta's clarification. I agree with Hero, though. We are kind of back to square one, and I have no idea what we should do next, really.

Well. Who in any Universe is just as lucky -- if not luckier -- than a Chromium Compounder? Matrim Cauthon, of course! Why, he has the Dark One's own luck! But finding someone in the Cosmere Universe who could tackle uber-luck would be pretty difficult. I'm sure Hoid would have a trick or two. What about an Awakened Sword with the Command, "Steal Investiture". If that's an applicable command, just point the blade at the Spinner, and drain his luck away!

Hahaha. I have a friend who started reading The Wizard's First Rule, and I just thought to myself, "Oh, you poor thing."
-
The Crew was growing restless. Almost everybody had shuffled through the bar and paid respects to Dyring's corpse. Poor Roban was working overtime, pushing himself to his limits, keeping everybody fed and giving them multiple servings of antidote water, it appeared Roban's way of dealing with grief and stress was over-working himself. Gamon thanked Roban for the drink and raised a toast for Dyring. "To the cranky barkeep. May the Survivor be leaving him messages in the afterlife." It was almost night time. The sun was starting to set, the ash falls had tapered off, and there was a quiet tension in the air, a silent density almost as prevalent as the Mists that came out every night. We should probably be looking for Cessie, Gamon thought to himself. It wasn't for purely revenge reasons, either. He had purchased four horses earlier for the purposes of his cold-blooded plan to draw-and-quarter the Inquisitor. It was savage, but how else did you make sure an Inquisitor stayed dead? Besides, he only bought enough horsefeed for just the afternoon.

Sounds something like Copper Feruchemy when worded like that...

"*Ahem*" Gamon comes strolling around the corner, a bundle of rope wrapped up around his torso, and leading a team of four horses. "Say, has anybody seen Cessie around, lately?"

Because we know she is in fact an Inquisitor, and she is still going to be going around Converting people? How is why are we killing Cessie even a question? Oh, and I love how we're just now getting all these rule clarifications and limitations of powers this far in the game. XD And uh, Peng. As much as I wished otherwise, I am not too sure about how likely it is you will survive the night. I mean, you might have some cool tricks up your sleeve, but if you gots something to tell us, the Public, then I would recommend you get the information out there before the night's end. *Raises a glass* To our fearless Mistborn! Edit: Apologies. re-reading this I can pick up on a rude tone. I just want to make sure no one was offended or anything. *Gamon is sitting in a dark corner grumbling. "I still insist we tear that spiked-witch's limbs off."*

See, when I was reading the books growing up, I totally started calling the pairings as of the second book. There was definitely Ron/Hermione dynamic going on, and after book 4 I was all but certain who was ending up with who (at least of Harry/Ginny, Ron/Hermione). But yeah, when I finished up Deathly Hollows, I was all but disappointed in the series ending, overall. And realized how much of a cop-out it was to just pair them together like that. I actually recently read an article talking about Ron and Hermione's relationships in the books as opposed to the movies, and this was a few weeks before Rowling made her decision. The article went to talk about how much anti-Ron bias there is out there, mostly as of the influence from the movies. It points out how many crucial Ron scenes get changed from in the books to be filled usually by Hermione, and just make him the goofy sidekick role. (One of their examples is in the First book/movie, when they're doing the tests to get to the Philosopher's Sorcerer's Stone, Hermione is the one who freaks out in the Devil's Snare and flails about, until Ron reminds her they can use magic.) and just a bunch of scenes like that, where in the books, we see more of Ron's role as Harry's best friend. The person who treats him like a normal person, and not the 'Chosen One' (save for more than a few bouts of angsty teenage jealousy) With all of that said. I really dislike what Rowling has been saying about the series after the fact. Just ret-conning her decisions like this (I'm sorry, you can't just ignore 6+ books of build-up and change your mind just because a lot of your fans hate your shitty ending). As the books were written, Ron and Hermione were obviously meant to get together somehow in the end, it's not our fault Rowling just cemented their lame, boring future with her horrible epilogue. Another thing that irked me was almost a year after the books were all out, when she all of a sudden announced Dumbledore being gay. Now, I'm not a homophobe, I don't care about characters being gay or bisexual or whatever, that's not the point. There was just really, in my opinion, any evidence or foreshadowing or context within the books even leading to this type of conclusion. I wholeheartedly believe that she just said this, after the fact, to show how 'progressive and free-minded' she is. I mean, Dumbledore was gay all along! How brave of J.K. Rowling! And so clever, hiding that from us all along, making us secretly fall in love with a gay guy. Oh, you! /sarcasm And yeah. Basically end rant. Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed the hell out of the Harry Potter books growing up. But that's what I'll always remember them as, books from when I was growing up. I know it probably has to suck for J.K. Rowling now that she probably (hopefully) wants to try and do something else as an author. We've seen her make some attempts at it (The one book that tried being the exact opposite of Harry Potter, and from the reviews I read just failed and was a classic case of 'trying-too-hard', or when she wrote under a pseudonym, and was "upset" when it was discovered*) *Side-rant about her whole "pseudonym" business. I'm sorry. There was no way she didn't want to be discovered with that pseudonym. I'm pretty sure she used her same agent or editor, or something. I can't remember the details, but it was so poorly disguised it only took a few weeks. And her response was less than convincing, when exposed. If she really wanted to try writing under a new name, she would have done some Stephen King/Richard Bachman rust, and be selling books at gas-station book racks. I am convinced it was just another poor-attempt at a publicity stunt, trying to cause more hype around her and her works. I'm going to stop typing now, I realize I may be coming across pretty harsh on Mrs. (Ms? Miss?) Rowling here, but I dunno. I just know way too many people who are way too obsessed with the Harry Potter books/movies. I mean, like I said, they're alright. For kids who are growing up. But when we're adults, we should move on to better, more mature things. I'll always acknowledge Harry Potter for what it is and the influence it had growing up, but I just hate how much hype and everything it gets, and J.K. Rowling just gets annoying after a while. /EndRantForReal

Well, I know this thread has been dead for a while. But like a zombie creature, I will bring it back from the graveyard to the battlefield. I got dragged back into Magic pretty hardcore last month or so, so I've been playing with my friends who have the new Theros and Born of the Gods sets. What are some of your reactions to the set? I really like the R/W Heroic Aggro going on, and the Gods and devotion and stuff, but this Block seems very draft-oriented to me. By that I mean, it seems like these cards will do best in Draft format, against other Theros/BnG decks. I know that that's how WotC has been doing stuff, but I dunno. Other, previous sets, have had amazing standalone cards and can be mixed very well in other decks, like there was better mix-and-matching with the themes. To me, Theros cards just seem only best suited to play with other Theros cards. Am I the the only one that's feeling this way, kinda? I'm not saying it's a bad thing necessarily, because I want to start Drafting more, and try getting in at tournaments at the local card store, so that's not really a problem, really.

"I told you we should have tied her down and drawn and quartered her!" Gamon yelled savagely, giving up on chasing her into the mists. At least we know for sure now...., he thought to himself. He realized he was changing. He no longer cared about how people look, he realized he hadn't even mentioned anything like that in the last couple days. Things were a lot larger than that to be worrying about such petty nonsense. Being handsome didn't prevent a spike in the dark. He glanced around, trying to pierce the silent mists that had once again shrouded the time. Now they were to be hunted again.... but at least they knew the predator, now. (Or at least one of 'em) OOC: If any Snapped got that coveted coinshot role, targets away at Cessie tonight, ya'll. And if we have any lurchers, Peng probably still needs protection.

Ok. Now the tineye is just getting a little out of control. Still hilarious, though. I'm loving the growing relationship between Dyring and him. Excellent confrontation. Good thing on Peng having Pewter. And it appears a few snappings occurred. So, um..... Gamon strolls into the bar, and looks at the extremely cryptic message left by the Tineye. He just shook his head and grabbed himself a glass of the Antidote Water, Dyring had just started leaving a row of glasses ready to go for everybody as they poured in throughout the morning and afternoon. "To Maxill," he quietly toasted. But hopefully today they would start making progress. Gamon wasn't sure how many people Cessie had managed to convert to Ruin so far -- for he was sure she had to be the Inquisitor -- but today at least justice would be met. "Let's hang her, then chop her head off. Maybe throw in a drawn-and-quartering at one point, if possible. I want to make sure this witch stays dead."

Hm. Yeah, that is pretty suspicious, Aspren. While it's not completely and immediately evil to ask for a time extension, it is fairly suspicious. The people who have the most to gain from extended night times are the Inquisitors. Talking stuff out during night cycle is cool and all that, but we already know who we're hitting on our next vote, I'm pretty sure it's almost unanimous at this point. (And I still want to go on record, I don't think it's a good idea to always discuss our planned activities for the next day cycle at night. It still gives too much insight into our next actions for the Inquisitor for my taste, and when the morning comes and some of us are dead/converted almost all of our "plans" change anyway to accommodate the new information anyway.) Tonight wasn't too bad, because like I said, I'm pretty sure we're all voting for Cessie next cycle regardless. Edit: And apologies, Barty. I read that as you weren't participating in the votes at all anymore. Which totally was a red flag to me. But that makes more sense to just place your vote with Peng. (I dunno. I still don't trust you. But I think that's mostly residual feelings from last game)

After Cessie is dead, my opinion is Barty is the next most suspicious character. His whole "not participating in anymore votes" is very fishy to me. He has been a pretty nondescript player so far, only really jumping on other people's plans and ideas, not contributing much himself. And the Inquisitor already know he can play a good "not me" defense from the other games, and just his character in general is a good cover, I think. That, or, if I were the Inquisitor, I probably would have tried converting Kurk or Aether, as they were some of the stronger, more influential characters last game. Those are my two clippings. :/ (sorry again, Shiv!)

I love Auri! She is probably one of my favorite characters from any story. She is just so adorable and funny and mysterious. Rothfuss has been doing a real great job of writing her, and I am super-psyched for the novella of her. I want to learn more about Auri, dangit!

Hey, look. We killed another innocent. I'm starting to second guess our Mistborn's decision makings. But hey. If some of us survive the night we can totally try and kill Cessie next. (Somehow. Even though they're about to have double lurch protection if the spiked conversion happens successfully)

Well Kote could totally die at the end. Kvothe, however... he could still do something. Kote is, for all purposes, a completely different person. (yeah,he is still Kvothe, technically, but we know names are important. So Kote might be waiting to die, i.e., he becomes Kvothe again.) and the Chronicler, I picked up in the re-read, it right away mentions his name as Devan Lochese. Isn't that some offshoot, but still connected to the Lockless (or Lackless?) family, somehow? This family seems pretty important, somehow. Also, here's some evidence to Denna having gone to the Fae at some point maybe - Bast mentions he saw her once when Kvothe tries to describe her the first time at the Eolian. And I'm pretty certain we know Bast is from the Fae. now it's entirely possible Bast saw her some other time, since we don't know much about him, like when he left the Fae and when/why he is being taught by Kvothe, but there's still some possibility him having seen her in the Fae somewhere.

Good point Peng. Can you figure out what day part they PM'd you, figure out if it was after a conversion? I would really hate to find out we just randomly had two people snap, but only get notified of the one as a result of a conversion. Meta is probably laughing his chull off right now. Edit: Response to Shiv: Eh, I'm not buying that Multiple Snappings happened off of that one event. I was just wondering if another Snapping happened at another time randomly that Meta didn't warn us about, but if both of you are claiming the Snapping from the one Conversion in the write-up, one of you is definitely lying. Edit 2: Bleh. Yeah. After reading your post more carefully I see that you are saying basically the same thing as me. I had way too long of a MtG day today, lol. My brain is frazzled.

So I finished Wise Man's Fear sometime last week.... and I immediately went out and got Name of the Wind from the library again. This series was an immediate re-read. It is that good. And while I will want to come back here and put in a fully detailed write-up of the books, my reactions, and my theories... for now I will just suffice to say this: When Kvothe first loses his Father's Lute, in Tarbean. The first night he plays one again, on the trip to Imre with the first time he met Denna. Did anybody here NOT cry after reading that passage? Or when he plays the "Lay of sir Savien Traliard" at the Eolian, that part has some of them "Deep feels". It is very odd for an author to get an emotional reaction from me so early on in the series. Like, in wheel of Time, I didn't get attached to the characters until the later books. You know, after you spend a couple hundred thousand words and multiple books with them. But Kvothe, that's only a few hundred pages in to this point. And I already feel for this character. I have an emotional attachment to him and his struggles. It's extremely powerful writing and I just appreciate it so damnation much.

Hm. Shiv has made a strong defense for himself. Maybe too strong of a defense? Remember, we can not just take someone's word for it (except for Peng's). I would still like to hear the time-line of the PM's Peng has received from Shiv and Cessie, when exactly and after what day parts was he PM'd with their Roles? Shiv's defense of him holding out his info against Peng is just too... convenient. We all agreed as the group the best thing to do was send our info in to Peng. Holding back that info until the last possible moment only casts more suspicion on to you. I don't want to kill another innocent, but my vote still stands for Shiv. And if he turns out innocent, you're next Cessie.

What constitutes a hot topic? Aren't they those weird stores inside malls where goth kids go to hang out and be all dark with their black hairs and make-up? Oh, and they have band tees.
