  1. Perhaps Rayse + Hoid friendship tells us more about Hoid than it does Rayse. Hoid currently appears to be 'good' (I use the word loosely) however he is working towards a specific goal. Perhaps to right an ancient wrong he perpetrated with Rayse?
  2. Ooh, creepy thought! When an Eyeholder dies without bonding to an eye, the Eye must be Relinked. This is accomplished by the new Eyeholder replacing one of his eyes with the Eye.
  3. When you thrust your hand at every door you open, in the hopes you somehow trigger latent Coinshot/Lurcher powers.
  4. It's Hoid's Zeroth Law. I have a post under "The Three Laws of Hoid"
  5. Half-breed? Of what? Half-Elf? Half-Orc? Half-Dwarf? Half-Koloss? Half-Savant?
  6. Lerasium can be used as a spike? That's new. Also, there already is a spike which grants Emotional Stability - zinc.
  7. Fantasy? About a dozen small series, but mostly the Inheritance Cycle (yes, I actually enjoyed them.) Astra esterni ono thelduin.
  8. Seeing as Brandon is a fan of Isaac Asimov, I've decided to create the Three Laws of Hoid, as a parody of Asimov's Three Laws of Robotics (and Sanderson's Three Laws of Magic). Rule #1:Hoid may not clarify puzzles, or through inaction, puzzles to be clarified. Rule #2:Hoid must not do the expected, unless by doing so, a puzzle will be clarified. Rule #3:Hoid must look after the cosmere, except if involves doing the expected, or allowing a puzzle to be clarified. If you have suggestions, I'm open. Zeroth Law:"Lunu'anaki cannot hurt man. Is forbidden by other gods."
  9. So I asked Brandon at a recent signing about Steelrunning. Aeromancer: So would it be possible to use Steelrunning + compounding to travel FTL? Brandon: No, it would not. You could get close, though. Aeromancer: Kind of like Zemo's Paradox, than? You keep halving the distance, never quite making it? Brandon (gleam in his eye): Trying to crack Allomatic FTL? Aeromancer (guilty): Maybe. Brandon: You can't. Aeromancer: I don't know, there are alot of good theories out there. Brandon: It involves Allomantic abilities which we don't know about yet. So there's the clincher folks. Allomantic FTL is possible (of course) but there's no point of guessing about it. (if you don't know what Zemo's Paradox is, look it up. It proves you can't walk)
  10. Excellent theory! I was actually wondering about this. So Dalinar's boon involves his wife. Quite interesting. I can picture the conversation: DALINAR: Yeah, well I'm married and this whole "Navani is now a widow thing" is really getting to me. Is there a way you can ensure I'm happily married? NIGHTWATCHER: (evil cackle) Oh, ensure a happy marriage? Absolutely. (Old Magic flash. The Weird Sisters appear, prance around a cauldron and leave.A brief glimpse of Hoid may be seen in the smoke, shaking his head.)) DALINAR: Huh? Where am I? NIGHTWATCHER: You're request has been fulfilled. (Yes, I know his wife is still alive based on this dialogue, but consider! Perhaps his wife isn't dead, she also had her mind wiped!) (That would be evil. Really, really evil.)
  11. No, this is just a hint.
  12. Aeromancer here. I've been heavily working on breaking the code found in Tavaragin's diagram (*cough* psychohistory *cough*) and I think I found something. Warning: a ) I haven't actually broken it. Yet. b ) If you're one of those guys who don't like "taking shortcuts", then DO NOT look ahead. The Clue: When Brandon said you need another epigraph, he didn't mean a clue's in the epigraph. He means the clue is the epigraph! Try breaking the numbers into pairs. They correspond to the letters in another part of the Diagram! DISCLAIMER: Just because you can try that, and the result is gobbledygook, doesn't mean I'm wrong. See, there are words in there. Brandon's just re-encrypted the rest of them. (scurries back to hidden bunker)
  13. Kaladin would make a terrible Templar - they are a secret society who are enslaved to the M_s_ns. I dare not write more.
  14. Sounds fun to me. Better Late than Never*, and all that. (*this applies to everything except for a global Armageddon)
  15. Hmmm, possibly. But remember, all the shards we know of have been intents (i.e. Ruin, Preservation, Dominion, Devotion), that is they all have a thought process behind them. Extrapolating that, Adolnasium must have some form of a guiding intellect as well. However a lot of the points you made were good, so it's possible that Adolnasium didn't have a single "guiding intellect" like Sazed guiding the power of Harmony, it just existed independently of any humans.
  16. Tam has an evil(er) twin. That's my theory anyway. I don't think electrum would do the job, but perhaps some of Ironeyes' atium?
  17. Who says she got the blade from her father? That's my question. It is, however, very likely she inherited soulbinding.
  18. Au contraire, every Mistborn should be considered "no slouch". Zane is merely a Mistborn with finely honed skills, and a lifetime supply of atium. And Shan is pathetic. Why is Shan pathetic? Because she never strained herself to her limits. Someone like Vin, Zane, Kelsier, who constantly fight for their lives are the archetypal Mistborn, not some pampered noble who believes she can kill everyone just because she's a Mistborn. (BTW, the "average Mistborn" is probably somewhere between the two, but if the Dakhor monk gets to be Dilaf, the Mistborn gets to be Zane.)
  19. We'll have to agree to disagree on the Zane vs Shan issue, as which is "stereotypical Mistborn". Second story roof? That's what, 20 feet? 25? A Coinshot can levitate higher than that. Oh, and the "wimpy coins"? Duralumin. The Mistborn's second ace in the hole. Survive that Dilaf.
  20. Shan Elariel was "engaged" to Elend. And she is a pathetic Mistborn. A better "Mistborn par" would probably be Zane. And anyone who says that Zane is too awesome, face it: All Mistborn are awesome. Dilaf can't win because all the Mistborn needs to do is levitate and keep chucking coins. Give Dilaf a few sacrifices, and the outcome might be slightly different.
  21. Currently when I'm posting this, there is approximatly 25.675 hours to go before the release of Russian Roulette: The Story of an Assassin. That's right, Alex Rider fans. The hidden backstory to Yassen Gregorovitch is going to be revealed. All Hail The KId Who Never Dies* *Alex Rider. He gets shot, stabbed, near drowned, chucked into space, near electrocuted, harvested for organs, and etc., etc.. etc., etc.. etc., etc..
  22. A minor Adolnasium! Excellent theory!
  23. Sell. Odium operates solo. Additional Shards will "corrupt" him. Dominion and Devotion will eventually merge into a single shard, similar to Harmony.
  24. Sell. Hoid is less powerful than we think, he just has a aura of mystery that lends itself to formidably.
  25. I always thought Feruchemy was older than Scandrial ... possibly created by Adolnasium himself.
