    Inkwell hesitantly emerged from the rift some good distance away from Malevolence and the Guardian. The guardian had grown a second head and was sporting a wicked magenta and green color scheme that gave off strong Arcadian vibes. Inkwell approved. Near him, an explosion had destroyed the top half of Malevolence’s armor, spraying the ground with mordite shrapnel even as the rest of the suit teleported away. Inkwell cautiously unclipped the empty explosive powder pouch from his belt and used it to pick up a mordite shard. He tightened the pouch and clipped it on his belt. The temporary abilities of a Coinshot disappeared, spooking him. He immediately cut another rift, to a new place, nestled in a valley near the base of a mountain, and hurriedly left the arena.

    Inkwell is disinterested. “Yeah, so, I’ve already done the whole ‘Malevolence boss battle’ and that was fun and all but I’m not interested. Cool sword by the way, I wanna make one of those someday.” He popped the spheres into his mouth and swallowed. Sure enough, he felt a reserve of metals in his stomach that burned at his mental touch, a lerasium-steel alloy, which gave him temporary access to the steel which he had swallowed. He flared it, pressing on the blue line that led to Crusade, then slashed a rift in the air before him and stepped through as the sword flew off into the trees.

    “Uh, I don’t know. 9/10mmHB#2 fought him, but that was afterwards. I’m pretty sure Rebus made a bet with Malevolence to harass me and a few others because we exist now, but honestly? I don’t know.”

    “Narrator? Not me. I’ve lost too many battles to be one of those. No, I’m just an artist doing some… hands on practice before I start my career. If anyone’s a Narrator, it’s the one who gave me this pen, aaaand, she’s dead. Eaten by a shadow monster. Still have nightmares about that, actually.” He winced.

    “Hmmm. Okay. Nice talking with you. Good luck taking that next step, this one is pretty… undesirable.” He got up and drew Futility. “Well, I had best get going.”

    “Well that-“ he points to Crusade- “looks like a weapon. And you-“ he points to Atreides- “just called someone else your master, so excuse me if I’m not entirely impressed with your claim to rule. Better to appreciate life’s fleeting beauty than to try and pin it down and wrestle it into submission.” He fingers the spheres. “Like these. Look how pretty they are. Pale, pale white, and dark, dark grey. Look how the shadows spin across them. Beautiful.” He looks up at Atreides. “All else pales in comparison.” “You should try. She’s annoyingly strong.”

    He looks up and notices Crusade hanging in front of his face. He pushed the sword into the dirt with his pen. “Rude. I’m an artist, not a sword fighter. I’d prefer if you get that out of my face.” He rolls his neck and snatches a few innocuous metal spheres that appear out of thin air as he finished practicing his shading. “You can leave, now. Bye.” @TwinStorm

    Inkwell shrugs. “Already met him. He’s quite boring, in my opinion. Do you have some sort of soul binding contract with him? I don’t see why you would serve a villain who not only wants you dead in the end, but also everything else in existence. Are you suicidal?” He pulls out his notebook and practices drawing spheres. “And hey, if Malevolence wants to be my messenger, if that’s what you mean by ‘speak for you’, tell him I’m not in the business of being an evil warlord and therefore am not hiring any servants at this time.”

    Inkwell jumps when Egis appears in the forest behind him. “How about the next time you decide to make a fight interesting, you disadvantage both sides, mkay? And that is NOT an invitation, unless you decide to feel bad for me specifically.”

    The little gremlins that make the shoes crawled in and gave me all the books while I wasn’t watching. Idk, it took me about four years to collect the Eragon books but this Christmas my family decided to start buying me my own Sanderson books since I kept checking them out at the library

    Inkwell finishes the drawing of the Wind and the background. A true masterpiece. He feels his Splendorlight surge slightly. Then he notices the figure approaching in the real landscape. He tears out the drawing from the notebook and throws it into the air for the Wind, and turns to meet the newcomer, Atreides. “Why are you following me? You looking for trouble?”

    Huh? A bit has happened from his perspective since then, would it work if Atreides watched the two fight and then followed him when he ran away?

    Uhhhhhhh shoot, I didn’t. He fought malevolence, lost, and ran away

    Inkwell, somehow aware that this entity had murdered dozens of innocent little Disney chipmunks and afraid to incur its wrath, got down on his knees and pleaded for the Wind to return him his notebook so he could complete his offering to it.

    Confused, assuming he had been on the Utol system, not the Roshar system, Inkwell waves at the Wind, then begins not a sketch, but an elaborate drawing of it and the surrounding area, forest, and cliffside in the distance, in mechanical and colored pencil in his notebook, a task which takes him exactly six posts to complete.

    Inkwell would help, except he has no idea Fog needs help and 9/10mmHB#2 won’t tell him because of fear of Malevolence. In fact, 9/10mmHB#2 has reverted to his original plan of trying to reduce Inkwell’s plot relevance as much as possible, because he is a jerk.

    Inkwell decided to play around with the new and improved Arcadian Pen. If he had some access to Light, then his first big problem- his fragility, could be solved. But how to get this to work correctly, without a spren or ideals, or learning Surges? He wanted to start simple. Hey 9/10mmHB#2, he thought. Can you try and bind some of the Splendorlight to the Backseat? I have an idea. Inkwell cut another microperpendicularity, and as soon as the Splendorlight began flowing into the physical realm, it vanished. “Clever,” Inkwell said aloud. “Like the Muse?” He attempted to cut a third microperpendicularity. This time, the membrane between realms resisted him, like scar tissue, but an even smaller gash appeared, and a drop of Splendorlight rolled out. He caught it, breathing in, and it was absorbed into his chest. An intoxicating feeling, no, a physical need to create, express, design, filled him. If he squinted hard at his hand, his skin shone with a barely visible sheen of magenta and turquoise, like oil patterns on water. He grinned. Perfect. to be clear, they are not Radiant. They have sort of a level 0 Nahel bond without any surges, and it’s not exactly great because the only consistent access to Light they have is creative inspiration.

    Inkwell always liked to listen to music on long walks. He reached for his back pocket, and found… nothing. 9/10mmHB#2 must have dropped it in the arena. *evil smile* @Through The Living Glass you got this! He sighed and continued on into the forest. Suddenly, he spotted up ahead past a bend in the road, the footprints he was following just disappeared. He cursed silently, and checked the pen, which was only half full. Impatient, he wrestled with the clip that held it shut. He had almost got it- snap. The clip broke off entirely. Inkwell clicked the pen, sat against a tree trunk, opened his notebook, and began sketching a stick. A malformed ribbon of black fire appeared on the path before him, and he immediately ripped the page out and shredded it. The flames disappeared. He blinked. Soulcasting? “Wait. Can it make… magic now?” He retrieved one of the gloves from his pocket, and began sketching it with stones connected by pale chains. Suddenly, the glove shifted, emeralds and silver chains emerging from its surface like ink. He pulled it on and focused on the wound in his ankle. Bones were shattered there, he could hardly walk by propping himself up on Futility’s sheath. Nothing happened. Of course. Fabrials needed light to function. But where to get some? He held Futility in his lap, unsheathed it, closed his eyes, and cut, not at the air, or the fabric of reality, but at the membrane between Realms. A small slit appeared in the air, about the size of a quarter, pulsing. He held the glove up to it, it was already closing, much smaller and faster than the normal Rifts. A flash of magenta and turquoise light drove away the dim shade of the forest, and suddenly the green stones on the fabrial glowed softly. Muselight? Artlight? He wasn’t sure what to call it. He pressed it against his leg, remembering at the last second to imagine it as it normally was. The fabrial flashed, the bullet expelled, bone melted and flowed together, tendons and muscles reknitting, flesh and skin pulling together to their natural state. He repeated the process on his arm, and the fabrial flashed, two of the stones cracking, but the arm healed as well. He picked up the bullets and stood up, placing experimental weight on the previously injured leg. It held just as it always did. They both grinned.
