  1. Has it already been two weeks? Anyway what'r'yall talkin' 'bout?
  2. It's funny how you have thoughts

    You think are unique

    And then slowly realize

Nothing you could possibly imagine or ponder has not been imagined or pondered by humans past.

      Sometimes it's nice to hear

That others worry dream or think as you do

But sometimes it makes you feel

Like there's nothing you can do that hasn't been done.

Nothing you can do that hasn't been said or thought.

      Your "original" and "curious" questions

      End up with you realizing

      That humans may look unique

But they all have the same patterns

They're like AI, terrain generation, or...other humans.

You are just a page from the Library of Babel.

      One of many inputs

      That produce the same output.

      You're a clone.

      I'm a clone.

      We are fake.

Our brains do the same thing.

      We're like PRNG seeds.

This is my supplementary blog post. I'll probably post it when I have time. On another note, I find I'm more able to come up with these poem things when I'm slogging through some work.

Also the thoughts expressed have been thought before my me. And, I can only assume, others.

  3. When you literally don't have enough time (unless you stay up all night) to read what you have to before class tomorrow, just skim it. That way, you get some info and also don't feel guilty about not reading it at all. Maybe try to at least understand some of it tho lol. Or if you know which parts you need to.

  9. Yeah, I guess. Thanks.
  10. So, I get the feeling that WoBs aren't canon. (With that last one, looks like someone already asked this, and they aren't. Or not fully?) Okay, so WoBs aren't necessarily canon. Can we still use them to disprove theories? For instance, everything about the Beyond. Brandon doesn't want to reveal much/anything about it, but I (and others) have made some theories relating to it. Those theories don't really work since we'll (supposedly) never know anything about the Beyond. But, if WoBs aren't (always) canon, maybe Brandon will reveal info in the future or change his mind? Basically, can we trust anything he says? Or, how much should we rely on them? Should we just be able to quote some random WoB and Shatter a Theory? And that's all I have to say about that. Edit: is this the right subforum? Edit2: I'm aware that this whole thing probably sounds ridiculous lol. But I still am curious.

  21. Well, honestly I don't think Yumi will be that important connection-wise for you, but it's a great read in general. I think Coder's suggestion for TLM is a good idea (to start with TLM). Also, I think someone suggested re-reading era 2. If you feel like you don't remember much, you can do that. Or, you can read summaries of them, or skim through. Here is a Coppermind summary for Alloy of Law. (If you don't know, Coppermind is essentially the Wiki for the Cosmere. Beware of spoilers though!) So...I honestly don't remember all that happened in TLM, but it gave kinda finished up the series and stuff. Like, if you were Invested jn the story and wondering what happens, you can read TLM. Idk. Up to you. You can always re-read the Cosmere later on to catch more connections and stuff (I gotta do this sometime). This means you don't have to fuss too much over getting the order perfect (as I did). I think, as Coder said, it could be a good idea to finish/read TLM now, unless you have any quarrels. You're welcome!
  22. Yeah, good points.
  23. Oh, good. Glad it was useful. Yeah. TLM was good. I mean...that's a good reason to read WoK. Are you a fast reader? Or do you have lots of time to read? Because I read Yumi in like 3 days (or maybe 2? Or 4?). If you have a lot of free time, you could always read Yumi and then WoK. I agree with First of the Tide that it might be a good idea to start with Yumi as a way to get back into reading before delving into WoK. Also: Did you mean TLM? Anyway, I read that as (A)TLA, as in (Avatar:) The Last Airbender lol. Honestly...sometimes I find it helpful when making a choice is to have someone tell me which one to choose (or I pick one), and then I end up feeling like I don't like that choice, and I realize which one I actually - deep down - wanted to read/choose. Do you have the books? If so, that could be a good way to choose. Otherwise, which one do you feel like reading? Do any if them feel like a chore? Like you have to read X book? So...I might disagree with this, but it depends. @Kiru, what type of reader are you? Like, are you reading the books because you really like them? Or are you reading them cuz you love them but also for the Connections between books and theories on different stuff like crossovers and Cosmere-wide implications or "stuff." Like...casual vs. Invested. If you don't really care about missing some smaller easter eggs, but also larger Connections that may bring importance to certain events, then I disagree with Coder. If you do like this side, then there are plenty of reading orders and stuff. I, myself, started by reading WoK and soon realized that the Cosmere was a thing. I then spent a bit of time trying to find the "perfect" reading order, which was somewhat frustrating, but I also wasn't on the Shard (17th Shard) then. But TLM is also a good option. Honestly, TLM and SA are good for theories/Connections/the "main meat" of the Cosmere, but Yumi is a really good story with some Connections as well, and is an easier/quicker read.
