  2. “Ah.” She looks away, and is quiet for a second. “I assure you, I am fine. I did fail them, but that is why I must do this. We will always be imperfect. We will always fail, and with a power like ours, the results are catastrophic. Surely you can see this?”
  3. “He offered me the Plotblade afterwards, and he is likely to look favorably on us in the future. Although, that no longer matters if you succeed in killing him.” Erdikan scowled at the man. “What is the study for?”
  4. “His threat to murder everyone close to me? I never took that seriously.”
  5. *claps vigorously* “Eh, I guess. But I must ask again, how is this relevant?”
  6. “Perhaps. Although I doubt many would adhere to such rules. The power of godhood, it corrupts the mind. Makes one think they deserve to do what they will simply because they can, forgetting that they were not chosen for the role. It could have been gifted to any, even the most unworthy.” She paused. “But that is not why you have come to me, is it?”
  7. Mercy pulled up short. Here was a Shard that intrigued her, a Shard that was both conniving and secretive. Though she saw no reason for the form and the hall, Anibelmeth decided to humor Odium out of courtesy, forming a body—her old one—across from them. “Indeed,” she replied. “May I inquire as to what I owe your acquaintance today? I trust you have a good reason for stalling me here.”
  8. You have my utmost respect. The ability to craft visuals for overhead dialogue in this way is astounding. Can’t wait to read it again with music once I find my headphones.
  9. Mercy felt something shift. A void, where there once was none. She looked to the source, dreading what the others had done now. And found Ambition, dead. Elation. One of them, at long last, was gone, requiring no sacrifice on her part. One of the worst of them, no less, who had cruelly twisted their world into a place of great suffering. And now they were dead. Mercy rued herself only in that she could not have watched to see how the act was accomplished. As she whispered to her seeds, showing them the greatness of this destruction, Mercy was alarmed to find Dominion moving to the broken pieces of Ambition, its power flowing to join the Shard as if the two were always meant to be whole. Which, she supposed, they were. This disturbed Mercy. Dominion would now be far more difficult to deal with, and given how the two had left off their recent negotiations, she had no doubt that Mascarose would seek to impede her. And so she was surprised to hear a cry for aid coming to her from the power of Ambition. Observing more closely, Mercy could now tell that the entirety of Rella’s power had not gone to Dominion; indeed, the seeds of that planet had absorbed some of it, forming a kind of half-Shard. Mercy paused, considering. While she had no qualms with Dominion doing her the favor of destroying those seeds, she worried that upon their death he may be able to wrest the rest of the Shard, gaining the full power of two of them and serving only to make her goal even more difficult. However, if she intervened, she risked getting into a costly battle with Dominion, a fate she could not afford so early on. Grasping the threads of time, Mercy searched both futures. It was unlikely, she realized, that any of the others would come to their aid. Why should they care for the lives of some twisted, half-grown Shard in another system. Ideally if she did this Dominion would simply back down, but if they did not then catastrophe would ensue. Anibelmeth followed these two possibilities, undecided as to which was best. But the power, it wanted simplemindedly to help ease the pain of those seeds in need. And so ultimately, Mercy swept to the system, barring Mascarose with her power. @ChickenBonanza @Argenti (you’re welcome)
  10. Oop missed this. Taeidin sighed as the labyrinth formed around them. “Not this again.” @Keke He frowned. “I guess if you made the Narrators Inklings too, that could work. I just can’t see the Authors ever letting that happen.”
  11. “And so your plan,” he said sarcastically, “to end all Narrators is to resurrect this guy, supply him with Mordite, and hope that the Narrators sit idly by while he goes around killing them?”
  12. “Desolation—he was the villain we researched before. You’re saying he’s still around? …you’ve only existed for a few hours.” bro literally wants to end the entire Thread
  13. Ergonomic
  14. I have no idea what Aeoryi was going for there, but I doubt it was meant as stay out of the plot. Plot actually used to be a character who died thousands of pages back, so that’s what I would guess but idk man.
  15. Challenge
  16. Ah okay I see the confusion. So there are multiple plotlines going on right now, and in general, something is only referring to you or near your characters if you were quoted or pinged in that section of the post. So Aeoryi was not referring to you here, as the character saying this is likely lightyears away from Inkwell, excepting the “Plot is Dead” segment of the one post in which they were communicating with Inkwell. You can pretty much ignore the rest of the thread other than posts that quote you for now so that your brain doesn’t explode. “I have never heard of these Inklings before, though they sound similar to Ennullers. What is the Shield?”
