  1. Except Egis was no longer there. She appeared directly behind Atlas, grabbing her by the shoulders, upon which Atlas promptly turned into stone.
  2. The star got about halfway into its flight before it morphed into a swarm of beetles that flew at Atlas. “Not gonna happen. Although I don’t really care about them at this point.”
  3. “Hey!” Egis said. “No messing with my little obstacles!” She frowned, looking at the ground where Inkwell had just been dragged under, and then over at Rebus hovering above the sand. “Maybe that was a little one-sided, but regardless.” Egis swept a hand towards Atlas, throwing them backward.
  4. “I would help,” Erdikan said, “Except I have no idea where they are. And the rest of us likely didn’t receive the message, me being the only one on-screen.”
  5. She grins. “That was my plan, but if you want me to make it more interesting…” She gestures, and the ground they are fighting on turns into sand. Numerous hands burst from it, grabbing Inkwell and Rebus by the ankles and threatening to drag them downwards. “Oops,” Egis smirks. @DragonHeir
  6. “Skip to the interesting part already,” Egis said impatiently. “Oh, and Inkwell, a man named Atreides is likely to try to kidnap you.”
  7. “Are you just gonna stand there dumbly, or are you going to do something?” That’s the best kind of idea!
  8. “He was surprisingly fast, but I still managed to dodge or defend against him for the most part. What truly concerned me was the seeming inability of anything I did to hurt him.” He frowned as Asharak’s voice boomed over them. “We should maybe do something about that.” Egis appeared next to Asharak and slow clapped.
  9. “I’m afraid that cannot be helped.” The Shard sighs. “If that is what you choose to believe,” she says. “I find that such a destructive force can often come in great use. But no matter. I will get you the seeds you require in their altered state, should you leave Desire well and alone. I merely ask for a little time to do so.”
  10. A long moment passes before Mercy speaks again. "That is... reasonable," she says, "though I had hoped the Maw to remain a threat longer. Allow me a moment to consider; perhaps we can reach an accord." Privately, she reaches out to the fledgling Shard, Desire. "Do you have any way of contacting your creator? Virtuosity?"
  11. "More worthy?" The response pulsed out from Mercy, thrumming through Mascarose's being. "No, that is not a reason. These seeds are still inhuman abominations, and are no more suited to the role than the rest of us. None of us are worthy of this power. If any could be considered as such, it would be the one we killed. And yet, the power fell into our hands, for us to bear as we see fit. I choose to wield mine here. Perhaps my reasons are selfish; perhaps I merely wish to stop you from gaining in strength. Or perhaps I am acting on the behalf of others." Mercy paused. "How will you wield yours, Mascarose? Are your reasons any better than mine? Or do you too choose to act self-servingly in your mantle of might, knowing full well that you could do better?" "You are presented, now, with two choices. The first, to leave now, victorious. You will have successfully taken advantage of the opportunity that Ambition's splintering presented to become more powerful, and will have caused no harm to others or yourself. You may continue on with whatever you feel is right, having a greater capacity to do so." "The second is to attempt to take the rest of Ambition by force. You may win, and you may lose. You may even succeed in gathering the rest of Ambition for your own. But regardless, the battle will not be easy for you, and you will walk out wounded. Having hurt other Shards who would have otherwise made peace with you. And having destroyed all on this planet. You would return, perhaps more powerful, perhaps less. But villainized, made a target of by the other Shards, and their ire will make your objectives far more difficult. Doubtless Virtuosity would not less this go unanswered, and you would have the Maw to contend with as well." "I do not pretend to have the moral high ground, for I do not know what motivates you. I do, however, trust that you will act in a way that you see as best. Tell me, Mascarose, which of these options seems best to you? The path of peace, in which all can benefit, and you can leave here more powerful yourself? Or the path of suffering, in which so much darkness lies that can only cause you more strife and hurt in the coming ages?" "If you truly claim to do what is necessary, prove so now by choosing the way that leads to a better future."
  12. Anibelmeth bows to Grace. "Thank you," she says, "for the insight. I will keep it in mind." She then withdraws, focusing her attention on the conflicted skies of Sel. Sweeping forward, she bars Dominion with her power, the forces crackling together. No, not Dominion. Closer now, she could sense the change in Intent caused by the bits of Ambition taken. Order. “You will not be the cause of more suffering. Leave them be, and be satisfied with the power you have already gained. We have all hurt enough.”
  13. I think literally all of the emotion spren would be helpful just for being able to better understand other people/yourself and be able to avoid misunderstandings. Except maybe shamespren 'cause I don't feel like they would be great. The non-emotion spren would just be pretty to look at, I feel, so I see no reason why not to have those as well.
  14. "Yeah, I could," she says, "but I don't really feel like it, love. I'm curious to see what happens." She pats Inkwell's head condescendingly. "You could go do something."
  15. She sighed. “Of course you don’t. You’re not Thread-Aware. That was a rhetorical question.” “I’m assuming that pen was important to you.” Egis extends a hand to him. In it, another identical pen. “Should work the same.” “Figures,” she said. Then proceeded to explode his face.
  16. “Right…” she said, as the information slowly started flowing back to her. “And I suppose Rebus has his own agenda while everyone else is sitting around not being super helpful?” “Tempting as it may be, I’ll pass on killing you. For now. And you may call me Egis.” She seemed to only be half-paying attention to him.
  17. She looked about herself, frowning. “Gotta say,” she said to no one in particular, “this is not what I was expecting to find upon my release.” She glanced over at Alli. “Who is fighting who?”
  18. “Oh yes. I believe I said that I don’t think he would follow through with it.” A woman materialized nearby her, because this scene clearly is not chaotic enough yet. IN THE SPAN OF FOUR HOURS, DID YALL REALLY HAVE TO GO THROUGH ELEVEN PAGES?
  19. Anibelmeth turns to face the system, brooding. “I see a planet, turned dark and ruthless by the selfishness of Ambition. I see two seeds, monsters by their creator, but struggling for a life of their own. And I see Dominion, hungry for a power undeserved, and willing to sacrifice others for a taste of it. That is what I see.” She glances over at Grace. “When you look, what is it that you see?”
  20. “I don’t think the path I’m on will ever lead me to interact with one.” He squinted at Pree suspiciously. “Unless you’re about to change that.” “I’m sorry, I’m a little lost,” he said, struggling to maintain two conversations at once. “We were talking about Rirrom?”
  21. “This isn’t about my mistake. This is about what is best for the people. To have gods that were once mortal, that make such missteps and ruin lives no matter how hard they try, or to be able to guide themselves and confront their own challenges naturally? For even if we improve and learn from our mistakes, we cannot hope to be better than our predecessor. No, better to have no deity than a flawed one.”
  22. “I am. But I don’t find it likely I run into any of your antagonist troubles you mentioned.”
  23. “We’re discussing him. One would assume that does make him relevant to the plot.” “Huh. Well I don’t think you want me.”
