Perhaps Szeth is weaker because Jezrien was drawing power from both a spren and the blade?

My understanding is that Atium isn't special in that regard; all metals increase your mental processing power in accordance with what you need to manage the ability. Source

Affected Invested Objects: The Investiture Must be Overcome!
Kadrok replied to Two McMillion's topic in Cosmere Discussion
We should totally peel off a bunch of divine breath! (Wiping out the shards just becomes more and more appealing!) Which reminds me, would a living body harboring a divine breath (I'm going to go ahead and assume that is possible) need an additional breath each day like a "dead" one does? -
Given the tears can only grow in one area on the world, and they are connected to Endowment somehow, I imagine that Endowment's shardpool, if he/she has one, is under the Hallandren valley. Technically Odium is on a whole different planet: Braize.

According to the MAG, you can store a Nicroburst if a Nicrosil misting uses their power on you.

Affected Invested Objects: The Investiture Must be Overcome!
Kadrok replied to Two McMillion's topic in Cosmere Discussion
BRAINWAVE! That is actually a really interesting idea, and it ties in with my comment on your other topic. If only limited systems of investiture arose while Adonalsium was whole (which I claim in that post with, I think, pretty good evidence) and planets with unbroken shards only have low investiture... then that means that systems like Allomancy or whatever only came about because Adonalsium shattered! All the systems in the Cosmere (except those limited ones mentioned in my post's quotes) depend on the shattering. Tying in with the quotes about invested shards having to withdraw their investiture to planet-hop, that means that reforming Adonalsium would destroy all magic (except the limited pre-shattering ones) because it would require the complete withdrawal of investiture. If Hoid is truly trying to reform Adonalsium, it means he is going to kill magic. It also makes Odium slightly more forgivable in my books, since breaking down the shards would put more power in the hands of the people (though he will have to be dealt with eventually). Let's break all the shards! -
Interesting idea, but I have a few issues to note: In other words, magic that isn't powered by a specific shard is limited, and I suspect (and this quote implies) that before the shattering, all magic was powered not by shards but by the whole Adonalsium (not a "specific shard"). There is also the issue of Scadrial the planet's involvement in the Metallic arts: Note the bolded section. The Metallic Arts arose not just because of Ruin and Preservation and their relationship, but the relationship between them and Scadrial. This, in my mind, suggests that before Scadrial, the Metallic arts existed only as potential. That said, there is room in this quote at least for what you describe to be possible... if the powers existed preshattering, and were lost at the shattering, and then re-arose on Scadrial, the Preservation-Ruin-Scadrial combo only allowing the metallic arts of millions of possible systems to develop. There is more on the magic pre-shattering at the end of this post. My view is... well, I've already outlined it elsewhere, so I'm going to quote myself (please forgive me): In my view Hoid's access to these systems are a conjunction of his master sDNA, and previous visits to the Shardworlds on which these powers originate. Sorry to drown you in quotes.

Some interesting ideas there. Up-vote. I particularly like that rather than suggest that Godmetal-alloy-Feruchemy stores different traits, it stores the same traits in different ways. I haven't seen that suggested elsewhere, but I could be wrong. It fits with the effect of burning an Atium Gold alloy - same effect but in a different way. My only objection is that in Hemalurgy an Atium spike depletes far more slowly than other spikes, and for Lerasium to do the same but better seems odd.

No, it was in response to the OP's Lerastruim.

So... does anyone want to add this information to the wiki, or is there something I am missing?

Electrum lets you see your own "Atium" shadow. Which would let you see yourself being shot in the head. Which would let you move yourself so you aren't shot in the head, and someone else is. Electrum has functions outside of being just a hard counter to Atium.

I don't think it implies that he wasn't the original holder of Adonalsium (assuming Adonalsium had a holder, which I actually don't believe). The question gave three options: Hoid is a Herald (Hoid isn't a Herald, given Brandon's answer) Hoid is a Shardholder (Hoid isn't a Shardholder, given Brandon's answer) Hoid is something else entirely (ie. not a Shardholder, or a Herald) Hoid being "something else entirely" means Hoid could very well be anything that isn't a Herald or a Shardholder (or something similar). The quote on its own allows Hoid to be, for example, a former Shardholder, or a non-cosmere Wizard escaped from a D&D game, or Bela reborn from WoT depending on where we draw the arbitrary line of similarity. This quote certainly allows Hoid to be some kind of consciousness left behind when Adonalsium shattered (though I am, as I said, unconvinced of this).

Cosmere Battle Royale; AKA Who Would Win
Kadrok replied to Gamma Fiend's topic in Cosmere Discussion
Not to mention Zane's a-Steel Hemalurgic spike. Definitely not typical. -
To be honest I wouldn't be surprised if the full Adonalsium, whatever it was, didn't need a holder. The shards seem to need a guiding intelligence to invest, so perhaps all the shards together, all their intents joined together, make up a kind of sentience that the individual pieces lack.

We were all thinking it.

Call me a psychopath, but the retributive nature of the concept, charging spammers money, appeals to me. Hmmmm. Retribution. That would make a really good Shard.
-
My gosh. Upvote. Why have I never asked that same question? Odium is splintering other shards... what would happen if he shattered them? Is there a difference? Would there be chunks of, say, Honor with subintents? I mean, according to the wiki, splinters of a shard have their own intents.

The alternate name for this thread was "The Cosmere Cooking Circle". (I realise this is a double post, but I wanted it separated from my serious post).

Hoid is using Lerasium for its Feruchemical properties
Kadrok replied to Two McMillion's topic in Cosmere Discussion
Given that we have now moved into discussing more than just whether Hoid is using his Lerasium bead as a metalmind, I've started a new topic to discuss the recipe for making a splinter of Adonalsium.- 12 replies

These ideas have come from this thread, and the original idea in that thread of gathering a piece of every shard was Darnam's. The question is... could someone (say... Hoid) make a splinter of Adonalsium if he gathered a piece of each Shard, and if so... what would he need to gather. At least two are givens as far as I am aware (Preservation and Ruin) but what of the other Shards we know? As we go I'll update this post with what we figure out or suggest. Preservation: A Lerasium bead Ruin: An Atium bead Devotion: Dominion: Endowment: The tears of Edgli? A divine breath? Honor: A gemheart? An honourspren? Odium: Cultivation:

Sorry to dig this old thread up again, but something else occurred to me regarding the reputation system... the bonus powers we're accruing are cumulative, right? I'm at 41 (Full Shard-bearer) right now, so I've got me some sweet sword and armour action going on (It's like being in the Cosmere Brotherhood of Steel!). I just want to make sure I still have my Awakener and Mistborn powers from my earlier ranks (and whatever else I've had thus far).

Speaking of spam bots, is there a way we can set up a legal trap so that people who post trying to sell us stuff get charged money? Like some kind of contract we all sign when we sign up which obligates us to contribute a certain amount of money if we spam (as well as our account being shut down)?

Hoid is using Lerasium for its Feruchemical properties
Kadrok replied to Two McMillion's topic in Cosmere Discussion
Creating a splinter of Adolnasium would be quite intriguing. I imagine he must have some Atium then. So the ingredients... Preservation - Lerasium Ruin - Atium Endowment - Tears of Edgli OR a Divine breath Honour - Gemheart? What else would we need people?- 12 replies

I wonder if he's ever seen himself in drag...
