    Oh, I can't remember if I've got any Mayflower ancestry. I've some cool ancestry otherwise, but I don't like to talk about it too much -- from my perspective, my saying "I'm descended from these cool peoples" comes off as bragging, and I worry that it might seem that way to others as well.

    Ah. Thanks! Oh, also re: the whole reading in class thing? I used to do that all the time in elementary. In fact, my 2nd grade teacher, at the end of the year, gave me the So-Absorbed-In-A-Book-The-Teacher-Had-To-Shout-To-Get-My-Attention award.

    It can be a curse, let me tell you -- I used hit my head on customers' car hatches and the clothing cages all the time. It is handy when I need to reach something, though.

    I was just browsing the setlists for the other concerts in their tour, and if the theme continues, we're in for a treat.

    This is why thrift stores are awesome -- $30, $24 with my employee discount, and it would've been $19 if I'd remembered the coupon in my pocket. It's covered in rust and dust and probably needs a few other repairs, but it's beautiful.

    No joke, my reaction upon first seeing your post was "Yay! Pestis is back!" So as far as I'm concerned, you're always welcome here. As for my contribution to this thread, today. rusting. sucked. Remember a couple months ago, when I said I almost had a breakdown over not wanting to go to work? Yeah, well, today I came this close to actually losing it at work. Actual tears were shed (though not visibly, I hope), and I alternated anger, anguish, despair, and apathy just about my entire shift. The worst part? We didn't even break a thousand cars, which is rather unusual for Saturday -- last week we had 1100. I guess I never really realized how much we depended on volunteers. It helps that I now have a hot foot bath and homemade strawberry ice cream, though.

    Cons of today: Ow; also, minor misunderstanding regarding my work methods. Pros of today: Got complemented on how well I handled a customer. Also, read some quality literature. And I'm home now!

    As someone who is not particularly good at music in general, taking that tune I found on the piano and transcribing it onto sheets in such a manner that it does what I want is incredibly frustrating.
