    I don't feel like finding the original SU, but you were the one I discussed Japanese sounding like French? And you said it sounded more like Russian to you? I agree with you now. Though sometimes French maybe, there's more Russian-sound.

      Yes, that was me! I mostly hear it in words like “Yorushika” or “Nadeshiko”, where the i is silent. Not clear on all the rules of Japanese pronunciation, but that’s the main instance I’ve noticed.
