  1. Three Actions per turn. You have used all three, though you may still cancel them and choose to do something else instead.
  2. Not necessarily. We could be lovers and you just didn't realise it, sule So we have no idea where that leak could possibly be from, assuming that it was 'from' anywhere? #iamthewaterlovingblubberytuskedmammal #iamthesonicvillainwithterriblehair #iammyownKas
  3. No, nothing stopping you. The Luthadel canals will just produce a little more Wealth than normal canals due to the fact that it can't double as a trade route. I just wanted people to be aware that buying a lot of property at the start of the game will inflict a bit of a cash-flow problem on you afterwards if you want them all running. The object of buying properties was never to buy everything you could for massive exponential gains later on, but for a steady increase over time.
  4. I'm fine with your vote staying on me. I will move my vote from ostrich for this Turn then, since it seems unlikely we'll get anything from him. Heck, doubtful we'll get anything from him at any time. I will vote for Bort. I like the way he's already changed his signature . Interestingly, Winter said that Bort was suspicious. Blue because I find it interesting. He was the only one she claimed to find so. The three Bort says are suspicious, Winter put in the unsure camp, with nothing to say about them. I expect that's just a bit of misdirection to get inactives lynched, personally. Of those four, I'd look at Haelbarde most of all. He has been a lot more talkative recently though. Could be because he was the only Cultist in this thread after Winter's death, perhaps. Hreo, will we be informed if/when the last Cultist dies?
  5. I've noted all these actions down so far. Glad you're really getting into it . I have edited the clarifications I made on the other thread, as people want more mechanical information. I'm afraid that, for those of you who want to purchase three properties, that won't be amazingly viable straight away (though it is possible if you sell what they produce during the second Turn (which in turn assumes they have the raw materials). You will be poor during Turn 2, but will bounce back). I can't otherwise implement costs and Upkeep without making them dirt-cheap, which is entirely not what they are meant to be.
  6. I guess I should probably endorse this a bit . Not a bad idea, as your Lords/Ladies will be your characters for the next four weeks. Plus, anything which decreases the amount of time you guys have to talk is only a good thing >>. Remember you have a week per turn. Don't get burnt out too early Trading With regards to trades/contracts/marriages between players, there are two ways in which this can now occur. The player initiating the trade sends in an Action to the GM, either publicly or privately, as before. If the other player sends in an Action to respond to that trade on that Turn with exactly the same terms, then the trade will be carried out. Otherwise, the responding player will be notified they have a player requesting a trade at the start of the next Turn, and can respond to it during that Turn. The initiating player cannot cancel that trade or make use of what they are trading that Turn. If the responding player does not send in an Action to confirm the trade, then it is cancelled. Conveniently, if trading with an NPC House, you will always get the trade on that same Turn. When trading between cities, the act of sending Goods will cost you 1 Wealth, possibly rising if there is a lot of stuff changing hands. This cost is negated if you happen to own the trade route in use. Trades between players will usually be Luthadel Keep to Luthadel Keep, and so will not have this cost. While canals within a city may not help with regards to trading, they will still generate revenue each Turn. Upkeep costs: Each Property you purchase will have a cost to keep it in good condition, to hire/feed workers and all that. This Upkeep cost will increase the more Properties you have. During the First Generation, each Property will add an Upkeep cost equal to half the number of Properties you own, rounded up (so 1-2 costs 1 each, 3-4 costs 2 each, etc). Your Luthadel Keep does not cost Upkeep itself, nor does it add to Upkeep. At some point, it may become economically unviable to purchase more Properties, though you may decide that you can take the hit for a while to produce Goods, etc. You are informed of what your Upkeep cost is at the beginning of each Turn. How Properties work: When you buy a Property, you will be informed of how much it cost you, what it requires, and what it produces (whether Goods, Wealth or something else) each Turn. What it produces should be what you asked it to produce. If you do not have the raw materials required for the Property, it will automatically purchase the materials using your Wealth for a slightly worse rate than if you bought them yourselves (or potentially much worse if purchased from another player). Properties do not produce anything or cost any Upkeep on the turn they are purchased. You can prevent a Property from buying/using raw materials without expending an Action. It will still add to your Upkeep. Some Properties may produce multiple things (such as a blacksmith). If so, then you may designate what it creates each Turn, and may also request a mix of items, though you will get less total than if it just produced one thing. You may also choose to change production as a free Action (such as switching from swords to armour), though this will not take effect until the following Turn. You may choose to have your Property immediately sell what it produces. During the first Generation, assuming there are no extenuating circumstances, a basic Property of some kind will cost you 2 of your Wealth. If a property is unique (such as a trade route), then it cannot be bought from the GM if someone else owns it, and if multiple people attempt to purchase the same property at once, then the winner will be randomly selected. The winner will also be charged slightly more than normal for having the winning 'bid'. Until a city has been conquered, you may not purchase Property within it. Players are informed of when a city is brought into TFE.
  7. You do raise a good point. The objective was to ensure that people could respond easily to multiple trade requests in this case. You are right though that thematically it would take effort on both sides. Hmm... Well, if you're too popular, I guess you'll have to make choices/choose your friends. Yeah, I shall return to both parties requiring the use of an action to Initiate/Respond to a trade, though you can work together to get it done immediately.
  8. I can only assume you are voting for me because I'm on the Gyorn list? Unless there's something else you'd like to grill me about. I've no idea how I can refute that, other than to say that I have a Role (if an unimportant one) - not that I can provide any proof of this easily. I'd like to hear from Ostrich, I think. He still hasn't been replaced, so he must be doing something behind the scenes.
  9. As phattemer's said, I only need a minimum of one action to be stated here. The rest can be sent in via your HttFE PM..Communicating with other players does not take up an action, but arranging trades would take an action from you both. I have changed my mind with regards to how arrangements like this can be carried out - There's a little more communication going on than expected, so to simplify things and not make them take an age to sort out, I will modify the rules regarding trades such that they can be more immediate. I will edit this change into the rules tomorrow when I'm back on my computer. If you and the other player both say 'Action: House A wants to trade with this X for Y win House Z/Response: House Z accepts this trade with House A giving away Y for X', that is that they both state the same deal terms, then it can take place on that Turn. Otherwise, if there is a discrepancy, then the players will be informed of that, and they have another turn to get it right. if the player does not send in a response regarding this, then that player will be informed for the next Turn, same as before. The same is true of marriage contracts. Remember that one player must offer the trade (taking an Action) and the other responds (which does not take an Action). Also, remember that you can only trade stuff you have. Your properties will not produce anything on the Turn you acquire them, but will the following Turn. After that, you may sell those Goods, if Goods are what it produces. Edit: People really should give up on the idea of obtaining monopolies... There is no mechanical definition of a monopoly, and people can always just build/buy more of them. It's a bit too game breaking if each person just has an iron grip on industries with no way for others to gain a foothold. Plus. NPC nobles doing similar things. If you want to buy a lot of an industry, say so rather than using the term 'monopoly'. You can't control other peoples' Actions, after all, though you may give it a good try.
  10. I don't have that as one of your Actions. According to your Publicly stated Actions, you are: Testing alloys, trying for an heir, and buying smithies and refineries in Luthadel. As to whether your first Action is pointless or not, well... Play and Find Out Incidentally, so people are aware... I'm not particularly paying close attention to the private conversations flying around. If there's something you explicitly want me to see, please send me a message via the HttFE PM so I can clearly see it. Otherwise, it's hit-or-miss as to whether it gets answered quickly or at all.
  11. ...Fail. You have three Actions per turn. Fixed >>.
  12. There are other nobles running around who he could buy metals from. The deal you work out with players is entirely up to you, whereas Venture Mistborn will be stuck with the 'NPC rate'. Also, remember you only have four three Actions per turn. Oh yeah, there was a slight error in the writeup. This Turn is actually slightly longer than most, and ends on Sunday, not Saturday.
  13. Yeah, to make things simpler, it is assumed that the only Allomancers right now are the 9 Mistborn. Mistings were incredibly rare before the 9 lerasium Mistborn started to have children, and even then, the first few generations would also be Mistborn (though they would just be known as Allomancers, as there is no need yet for a distinction). It is only ever assumed in retrospect that Alendi was a Seeker - He personally makes absolutely no reference to his ability in his journal, nor does he ever comment about ingesting bronze for his powers (though I do question how he might unknowingly do so post-bronze age, I admit). If Alendi, the de facto ruler at the time, did not reference it, we can assume that practically no-one else knew as well. Remember that, if you are attempting to have an heir, I would like suggestions for their names. You should also not have children already. I'd also like to point out there are NPC nobles (who aren't even named, poor guys) who are also developing Luthadel and the surrounding areas. It is highly unlikely you will get a monopoly, even if no other players go for the same thing. Incidentally, I did once try to make this into a computer game, but I admit I'm not the best or most focused programmer. I also have absolutely no idea how to do a graphical user interface in Python, which doesn't really help. I'd be interested to see your take on it. Edit: Two clarifications which I feel are important for everyone to know for this Generation. Currently the skaa do not exist, per se. There are people who are non-noble, some of whom serve you (hence the Servant Reputation rather than Skaa Reputation currently). They do not yet have to be leased from TLR, but I will not be charging people for the use of Skaa when that comes around - I will assume your House sets money aside for them, same way you don't have to pay taxes. I will point out though that your House will have to pay upkeep each Turn on the properties you own. You can't expect to buy a dozen places and have them run efficiently, after all During the First Generation, none of the cities other than Luthadel are a part of The Final Empire. Places such as Urteau exist, but you cannot buy property there until they have been captured.
  14. Well, that offsets the lynch of an innocent quite handily. Means we can drop the question of where the leak came from too, which is nice and simplifies things a bit for us. Remember that the person being Pirate'd does not know who their captor is, therefore Zas' death here cannot be used to clear any of the people who voted for Honey badger. I find it a little interesting that two of the people who voted for him were also potentially up for the lynch. At what point do we need to start worrying about the Shu-Dereth people? Do we have a plan for them, at all?
  15. That's perfectly fine as an action, since it basically boils down to 'take care of my servants'.
  16. Generation 1: The Final Empire Turn 1 "Eighteen of you? I thank you for your support. It is more than I had hoped for. I have only nine gifts to grant, but you are my chosen, my exalted few. You may not all bear the powers of Allomancy, but your children and their children will carry my blessings upon them." Rashek took a step forward, and gave a bead of metal to Joel. He gave out the rest of the beads, seemingly at random, though who could tell if there was a scheme in his eyes? Certainly there were wheels turning in the minds of those without this power, and he was glad of it. He wanted his Allomancers, his new nobility, to be strong and cunning, to shape the world with their wills. It seemed he would not be disappointed. "Allomancy," he explained, "is a magic of metals. By ingesting certain metals, one can gain powers akin to and yet completely unlike that of Feruchemy." "Ingesting... You mean eating?" Locke asked, looking at the bead in his hand with mild distaste. Rashek nodded. "Yes. While these metals are within you, you may consume them for these powers. There are eight metals that you can use this way: tin, which enhances your senses; pewter, which enhances your strength; iron, which allows you to attract metals towards you; steel, which repels metals; zinc, which allows you to enflame the emotions of those nearby; brass, which does the opposite and soothens their emotions briefly; copper, which allows you to protect yourself from zinc, brass and bronze; and bronze, which lets you detect the use of Allomancy nearby." "And this one?" Aodhan asked, holding up the bead in his hand. "What is this metal?" Rashek waved the question away. "It does not matter. Its only effect is to grant Allomancy to people, and it is in short supply. Indeed, you nine hold the only beads in existance. It is known as lerasium, if that answers your question." "Where did you find it, anyway?" Sen asked. "Surely such a power would have been discovered before now, or at least spoken of in myth and legend." "At the height of my powers, while I held the strength of a god in my hand, I created them," Rashek said. "Lerasium is not a metal you can merely mine. Now, obtain your rewards for serving me. Then we shall make our way to our new home." "By the gods..." "There are no other gods anymore," Rashek replied, without looking round to see who spoke. "None that would care to answer our prayers, anyway." "Was this necessary, Rashek?" Primus asked. "This devastation? The brown skies, the dead plants, those... Those mountains that spew ash?" he asked, waving towards an ashmount in the distance that was sprinkling ash on the land. "Was it really necessary?" "Yes," Rashek replied, snapping at Primus as he turned around. "Do not question me, Primus, when you know nothing of what transpired at the Well. I am your lord, your ruler, and I will have your fealty." Primus was silent for a moment, holding Rashek's gaze, but soon enough he looked away. "I apologise, Rashek. In my heart, I know you did what had to be done. What others may not have been able to do." Rashek nodded and turned back around, satisfied with Primus' retreat. "Let us not waste any time. My palace, Kredik Shaw, is some miles away, I am sorry to say, and it will take us time to reach it." "And where are we to live?" Gamic asked. "Your palace may be grand, but we will need homes for ourselves, and our servants, if we are to be your nobility." "My palace is located in what was once a small city," Rashek explained, "Though now it lies abandoned thanks to the Deepening. While the accommodation may not suit my nobles, that can be changed, in time. I have no doubt you will make the city your own very quickly." "But couldn't you have chosen somewhere closer for it?" Lutha grumbled. "My city was chosen for good reason, Lutha. It is central. Not all the world is liveable anymore, and my palace occupies the heartland of the parts which are. If it helps, there will be less need to travel so far in the future." "This single banner of yours?" Aodhan asked. "Yes," Rashek said. "It is important that the empire remains small in size. It is the only way we can survive in this world." "So, what do we do when we get to your new capital?" Cofal asked. "It's simple. We establish the city fully, and then we expand the empire. It will be a kingdom to outlast all others, the like of which the world has never seen; it will be the final empire this world will ever see." The First Generation has begun! It will end on Sunday the 14th at 6PM BST. All PMs have been sent out. You have discovered Allomancy, along with the eight metals it allows you to use. Walin Walin, Primus Pifferdoo, Joel Tormander, Mennet Farrsolin, Ven Orielle, Locke Tekiel, Aodhan Izenry, Tydan Queade and Cofal Erikell have been granted the power of Allomancy. Each player has been granted a Keep around the spires of Kredik Shaw, along with a retinue of Servants to attend to them. Generation 1 Player List We will be using this thread for RP and Public Actions (which should be bolded for clarity), and the other thread for rule clarifications and new signups. For the purposes of Actions and RP, assume the First Generation starts a few years after the Ascension. I'd also like to request that Actions are sensible - There will be penalties if Actions are too ridiculous/encompassing. Remember to state them logically as much as possible so I have less room for confusion. In addition, recall that I would like to be a part of conversations, and that they were preferably stored on a Google doc or something.
  17. Barely, but you're in Signups are now closed! This thread should only be used by people who want to register to be a part of the next Generation, or for rules clarifications and the like. New thread coming up within the next few hours...
  18. In that case, I suggest exiting the game for the time being and signing up at the start of a Generation when you have a bit more time.
  19. Sign-ups will close in just over three hours! We currently have 18 players, including Araris, who has belatedly been added to the player list.
  20. I disagree that Meta would throw a fellow Eliminator under the bus just to win. It wasn't necessary, as neither of them were under massive suspicion, and even if they were, I don't think Meta is the sort of person to value winning over the fun of the players. Could he be? Well, I guess he could, but all signs point to no, in my opinion. I'm still suspicious of Haelbarde. I mean, now I am looking at him, he suddenly posts a lot in a short period of time. It's a little unfortunate, but changing playstyles like that on a dime looks rather strange to me. I am also not sure who else I am suspicious of at the moment, though I understand where Wilson's coming from when it comes to luckat. The issue is, as Kas said, we have about six or so players talking a lot, and that's not enough. Of the people currently up to dance the hemp fandango, I am mostly suspicious of Haelbarde, ostrich and luckat. We don't want a tie in this vote, but I'm not sure who I would vote for anyway. I think that, as a show of good faith for Haelbarde's long posts, I'm going to move my vote from him. I am however a bit edgy when it comes to Alvron, at the moment. He has seemed to turn up after being called out a bit. You say you were Gyorn-hunting, so what suspicions have you for that?
  21. I am rather attached to my head, and would prefer to keep it that way Speaking of players who have been around less than expected, what is our current list of people who appear to be inactive? Edit: While I remember, advance warning that I will be less active Saturday evening (due to starting my RP game) and Sunday (due to last-minute tidying and going home from university).
  22. I haven't said much this game? I made a long post on the Night Cycle, and I've been rather active today. Now, while it's nice that you hold me in such high esteem (or feel such abject terror towards me), I'm afraid it's another case of the AG here. Why haven't I said much so far? Generally because I'm not entirely sure what's going on. I need to gather information from the last four Cycles before I can do anything, and as you've already pointed out, that can lead to mistakes when one looks back over things without being too careful, which I admit I am not. I make mistakes, as you should know by now . Mistakes I probably wouldn't be making if I was in contact with other players outside the thread, for that matter. Besides, the last two times I've been an Eliminator, I've been incredibly chatty. My being quiet isn't an indicator of whatever side I am on, as I generally try to get involved with the discussions and the like no matter what side. True, I could be changing my tactic completely for this game, but with the circumstances around my entrance to it, it's just a matter of me having less to say or hound people over. As for Aonar's inactivity... He did request a pitch hitter. Before doing so, he commented that he was unable to keep up as much as he would like, and that it's not how he usually plays. Now, obviously I've paraphrased that since I can't copy and paste, and there's no way that I can prove to you that Aonar was not being inactive by choice, but I felt I should pass it on. I would also hope that people wouldn't try to abuse the pinch-hitter system, as it's rather unfair to plan to change playstyles in the middle of the game when you're an Eliminator. My analysis 'tells us nothing' because it was an analysis of an Eliminator's actions which were made in such a way as to tell us nothing. Was it a useless post though? Not at all! The fact that it tells us nothing, as you put it, is useful, as it stops people having to go over Winter's post whenever anything happens. It may have been a post with no conclusion, but someone had to reach that lack of conclusion. It might as well have been me. My first post in the thread today has you suspicious, I understand this. However, I did flag up a self-congratulatory aspect of one of Winter's posts in my analysis. You seem to think I'm a good player, so I'd hope you wouldn't think I would fall into the same trap as my supposed-teammate - A trap I've literally pointed out the previous day. The rest of that was more of a wry/sarcastic comment. You should know I personally despise follow-the-cop strategies from previous games, particularly the first one I played in where we had safe roles dictating everything. In the second game I played in, LG5, when I was in a position of power, I went out of my way to trust people and let them know what was going on, rather than get everyone to follow myself and Macen. Why bring up the whole Kipper and Seonid thing? Because it was something that happened which could have required some discussion. I had not checked when the thread went up, and I assumed that all the PMs were out before the thread went up, since that's how I tend to do it when GMing. In retrospect I probably should have to avoid something like this. But, once again, I wasn't quite thinking my actions through. Was it a non-issue? Sure. Doesn't mean it couldn't have been though, and a headstart on that discussion could have been useful. It wasn't though, so it's not. I don't hold the fact that the PM got in later than expected against either of them. My post on Wonko was because I wasn't quite sure what was going on with regards to him and the rest of the people. This is a complicated game and a lot has happened in it already - stuff that I haven't been reading along with. I don't agree with your commentary about the Cultists not wanting the Village to know about the roles we have and who has them though. It's incredibly useful to get information out in the open for them, as they then can use it without worrying about where it's come from. Imagine if, for example, Meta had died last night instead of phattemer (ignoring whether or not he had defences against that). Because Meta gave up his role in public, we would have no suspects with regards to who killed him, because we all knew. That's not the same here as it is with phattemer, but again, I was just trying to puzzle out what happened for myself, not as much for any of the other players. And you say you highly doubt he is a Cultist. That's fine, I think it unlikely too, judging by how long phattemer survived. But he hasn't been confirmed, and you yourself said you 'highly doubt it'. There is still a minute chance that he is, and I think it's important we remember this. You were completely convinced by Claincy in the AG, and look what happened there. Sometimes a fresh pair of eyes can bring things back into focus or point out details which were glossed over. My job here isn't just to get new information, but to look at what has been gathered and ask questions about it. The question I asked here was 'is this possible?'. The answer is, apparently, 'yes, but it's highly unlikely. Wait and see what Elantris says'. Good, we can move on from it for the time being. I have removed my vote from him thanks to Kas' comments earlier about what could have happened. Is it possible the leak is from Zas? Yes, all evidence seems to point towards that now, from what you and Kas have been saying. But you've also said it's a bit of a dead end, as we don't particularly care to lynch him right now, and he started the game in Elantris, so we don't have anything of his to analyse here on the thread (correct me if I'm wrong, Night 1 is the first player list I could find). So your alternative to lynching him, which would at least give us some information as to whether he was indeed the leak is for you to lynch the more dangerous players instead. I mostly agree with that, as it is likely that he was the source of the leak, and his death wouldn't tell us much other than confirming that. Plus, with him being Hoed, a clean Elantris isn't too important. We definitely need to take out the rest of the Cultists first before Zas (as well as finding a way to find the Gyorn. Do we have a strategy for that?), but he is at least of use to lynch if we get close to lynch-or-lose. Strangely enough, I disagree that I should be lynched next. You have a grand total of two Turns worth of 'evidence' on me, most of which are simple mistakes I've made, and the rest of it seems to be based on the fact that Aonar was inactive enough not to post and then be replaced. Personally, I'd say it was quite probable that Aonar was inactive enough to realise he needed to request a Pitch-Hitter, and so got replaced, rather than it being some kind of master plan. Then again, I do have access to the PM he requested that in, so I would say that. So the next question would be who I think is suspicious, now that my other ideas have been summarily shot down for being incorrect. I don't have much to say, but I personally would quite like to look at the people Winter placed in the 'Unsure' camp, or at least the ones I couldn't remove from my list. Jain would be my first port of call, but there's already a poke vote on him. I'm going to ask Haelbarde for his suspicions. Winter had him in the Unsure camp, and the only reason I can find for that is because, looking back at least over the past three Cycles, he hasn't actually said anything of import. Most of what he's posted have been questions for the GM, the links (which are useful, I admit) at the start of each Turn, and RP. Now, I know he's said that he's been busy with exams, and I can relate to that for sure. However, I don't get why he has been spending so much time posting roleplay and admin instead of contributing by voting etc. For that matter, the poetry will take a lot of time, and that is time that could have been spent playing the game. Does it mean he's an Eliminator? Maybe not, but I would have expected him to take advantage of the Pitch-Hitter system if he really couldn't actually play the game. My question therefore is how he can find the time to do that but not contribute, even - or especially - with exams.
  23. Sorry, I should have clarified a bit more. I know that phattemer's role was public knowledge, I was just trying to trace it back to where that came from. from what I recall, Wonko revealed his role because the Eliminators knew it anyway - I am just wondering how they learnt it. I think it's important to go back over this, since it apparently wasn't looked at too closely at the time. Hence my question - who knew and is implicated by that first attack? I am aware that no-one is especially implicated by this one any more than anyone else.
