Quick Fix Game 7: Living (and Dying) Rough

The coins you get for participating in the lynch? They're after the lynch. You can't use coins you don't have before the end of the cycle for an action.- 287 replies

Auctioned Votes will be noted separately, and reflected in the numbers on a vote, as if they were Rioted onto it.- 287 replies

While we're on the subject, it would be good I think to just have a place to mark down who is dead (or even a general 'status')? Perhaps in the slot under the vote which has 'action' currently in it?

Quick Fix Game 7: Living (and Dying) Rough
Wyrmhero replied to Wyrmhero's topic in Sanderson Elimination
Oh geez, managed to miss this question, and the Cycle's gonna be over in just under two hours. Sorry :\ The Smoking Gun rules state that the Gunner will be killed 'if the player does not use it'. Their action will still be recorded, even if it has no effect, so they will not be killed because of it. And I'm not sure what you mean by how voting results appear? I will be displaying them in the manner that they're shown in most of the previous games - Players will have their names next to who they attempted to vote for, and the number next to each player represents how many votes actually ended up on them. In other words, the results of peoples' votes being moved around will be shown numerically rather than showing how the votes actually moved.- 287 replies

If you auction your vote and no one buys, then you lose your change to vote and you don't get any money. Remember that you cannot retract a sold vote. Purchasing is done in private and is first-come, first-served when differentiating between the highest bidders.- 287 replies

The write-up was indeed posted at that time. If you auction your vote off, can you please do so in a different colour? Not red or green, of course, too confusing. But needs to be eye-catching. Edit: Actually... I don't know, since we've changed clocks recently. At the very least, it was 9:20 here when I posted it.- 287 replies

Quick Fix Game 7: Living (and Dying) Rough
Wyrmhero replied to Wyrmhero's topic in Sanderson Elimination
Cycle 1 Tap. Tap. Tap. A regular beating of feet on the floor of the intricate cave systems that littered the mountainside that the crew were holed up in. It was not a normal sound, not this far down and not as early as his timepiece said it was. Warn's room was all the way at the back, the most defensible position. He was paranoid, but then he was in charge of a band of outlaws. It paid to be paranoid, for situations like this. It wasn't the first time someone had tried to kill him. In a way, he was more honest than his assailants had ever been - He never shot someone in the back, after all. Or while they were supposed to be sleeping. A few more seconds of waiting, and he was sure of it. Someone was approaching his room, the rubble the person kicked told him of that. They were also trying - and failing - to be stealthy. Every time he heard the person kick a rock against a wall, they swore under their breath. Not the most experienced of assassins. But then, one didn't have to be experienced to kill; just lucky. His hand went under his pillow, and then he brought it out, the gun he hid under there pointing at the door as he looked in the mirror to judge his shot, waiting. The door opened. Warn fired. The head hit the wall and slid down. The body hit the floor. He threw the covers off himself and stood up, still fully dressed. He put the gun away in its holster and crouched down to examine the body. He turned Ren's head from one side to the other. An eye blinked at him, its gaze unfocused, looking towards the wall. He was dead, it was just that his body hadn't stopped living yet. Warn grinned. "I can't believe you'd try something so obvious... Lawman," he said as he took the badge out of the man's pocket. He chuckled and tossed it behind him, onto his bed. He placed a hand on his assailant's neck, and burnt his chromium, ripping Ren's pewter away from him. Where he got it from, Warn didn't know. Maybe he'd dug it out of the rubble or something. Regardless, it didn't matter. With his source of strength gone, Ren passed away pretty quickly. "This could be rather fun," Warn said as he stood up, to no-one in particular. "Shouldn't of tried it though, not on me. No, no, not on me... You have to get up a hell of a lot earlier than that if you want to catch Warn unawares." "I did." Another bang. Warn's body hit the floor next to Ren's, colliding with the wall. Blood seeped out around him, bits of grey matter littering the floor from the high calibre bullet in the back of his skull. A figure crawled out from the bed, straightening out his white coat. He stowed his own revolver away, in one of its deep pockets. He equalised the lengths of the stethoscope around his neck, and looked at himself in the mirror. "Yes..." he muttered to himself, flashing a small smile. "The doctor... is in." * "I don't see why I have to do this..." Kas muttered as he grabbed a bottle of polish from the side. "He has perfectly good lackies without me..." At least guns were clean. If Warn had stabbed Wilson with a knife, it would have been much worse to clean it up. And already Kas had spent the afternoon wiping up blood in the cave mouth. Add the rockslide to the list of things that needed tidying up, and... There was a lot that needed to be done, and just him to do it. Sighing to himself, Kas got on with it. Last bit of polish after a complete overhaul of the broken gun. Good as new, or at least as good as this thing could be remade. Kas wasn't even sure why Warn bothered with it, the thing was always going off and killing someone unexpectedly. Amusingly, kind of like its owner. Quick footsteps, as someone ran into the room. They gasped for a breath before looking at Kas. "Did you hear?" "Hear?" Kas repeated. "Hear what?" "Warn's dead!" "Warn's what?" Kas stood up quickly, nudging the table he was at and knocking it over. The gun fell to the floor and went off. Kas hit the floor a few seconds later, and didn't get up. "That... That wasn't my fault, was it?" * No-one looked at any of the others when they were all assembled. Someone had died at one of their hands, after all. At least one of them was a lawman. Well, there may or may not be overlap there, but either way, it was a dangerous situation. One death would surely lead to another, and most likely another. "So... Is anyone going to say anything?" Cycle 1 begins! It will end at 9PM GMT, on Thursday the 16th. PMs have been sent out. If you did not get one, please let me know ASAP. Not having that mistake happen again... Look, I love you guys and all, but I'm not going to wake up at 3AM or whatever just to post the writeup, especially if it takes two hours to figure everything out each Cycle. Updated Dramatis Personae (Wilson has been fired because she didn't turn up for work for two Cycles in a row) Doctor Cloud' Wintre (Winter Cloud) - A Tall Backstabber Dr. Nowko Lestibournes (Wonko the Sane) - An Indirect Descendant of The Lord Mistborn('s Friend) Arnad Ladrian (Araris Valerian) - A Short Fellow Outlaw Ralon (Alvron) - A Rusting Soother Doc Piffington (Lord Pifferdoo) - A Different Kind of Doctor Dr Rab Heatherlocke (Haelbarde) - A Man With a Lawman's Doctor's Badge (Maybe Not His Own) Dr Is axe? (phattemer) - A Doctor With an Axe (Possibly His) Jain (Lightsworn Panda) - A Panda with a PhD (Which is His) Suspicious Man (The Only Joe) - A Suspicious Man (Who is Definitely Possibly a Doctor) Karlin (Surgebound Rainspren) - A Blade-loving Mercenary The Doctor (ostrichofevil) - Yes, He Is That Doctor Doctor McNinja (Clanky) - A Suspiciously Scottish Man Dowc Holliday (dowanx) - An Adherent to a Theme Nifergo (Feligon) - A Lawman, But May Not Be The One You Are Looking For Marl (Mailliw73) - A Worthless Outlaw Mr John Smith (Emerald101) - An Average Man Doctor Walin (spencer12347) - A Doctor 17 players. Just in time for my game. I'll give it a test run and see how it goes Only thing I can think of immediately is somewhere to put an inventory? Or at least, how much money/resources they have, since we have a number of games with a usable commodity in them. Players hate him! Discover the best-kept secret in the GM industry!

Quick Fix Game 7: Living (and Dying) Rough
Wyrmhero replied to Wyrmhero's topic in Sanderson Elimination
Okay then, Emerald. A better guide can probably be found on the other threads, but a summary: At the beginning of the game, I will randomly assign Roles to players. You may either be one of the ones listed in the first post of this thread, or you might have no Role. If you have a Role, you are able to use the ability it gives you each turn, at the cost of one of your actions. Players can have up to one Role, and they also have an Alignment - Scoundrel or Lawman (the Eliminators in this game). Players each have two actions each turn, which must be different. An action could be your Role ability, the Eliminator kill ability, the Smoking Gun kill ability, or one of the three Money actions (Auctioning, Messaging or Gambling). You send in what you want to do every Cycle (which lasts two days in this game) to me in secret, and until the Cycle ends, you may also change your mind on your actions, except for selling your vote. All these actions will take place at the end of the Cycle, and if your Role lets you discover information, such as if you are a Seeker, I will let you know in private the result. Also, all of you doctors. I am sorely tempted to make you all RP all game, so I have roleplaying stuff to base writeups on. At the very least, if you 'forget' about it, I will be very disappointed. You've made your bed, now lie in it.- 287 replies

Warn crushed the missive in his hand and tossed it onto the floor of the cave. He took a moment to try and calm himself down, but failed. He turned his head towards his band of merry men (who were not quite so merry at the moment), daring one of them to ask what was wrong. None of them tried, not yet. He took another deep breath. He started to calm down. "Is one of you Soothing me?" he demanded, "You know I get a mite vexed when I'm Soothed," he added. He took a deep breath, and waited. When the presence on him remained, and no-one owned up, he drew one of his revolvers from his belt, and fired into the crowd of his 'employees'. Wilson, a Soother, fell to the floor, dead before she hit the ground. As expected, a few seconds later, the Soothing vanished. He walked forward to the corpse, the crowd opening up before him, and dug the bullet back out of the corpse's eye. There was no way in hell he would waste aluminium on these people, not when they could re-smelt more bullets out of it. "Now..." He stood back up and put the bullet in his pocket. "Now," he repeated. He hesitated as he looked down at the body of the unfortunate Soother. "Someone get this out of here before it gets a bit congealed," he added. Then he looked back up and tried again. "Now... We have traitors in our midst," he said, without any more preamble. The assembled glanced at each other warily. "Not just traitors. I could understand how a lot of money would tempt a man to kill his friends." It went without saying that they were friends. If they weren't, people tended to end up dead here. "But we have the lowest sort of traitor. Lawmen," he spat on the ground. "Not fit to kiss our boots, right gentlemen?" There was a bit of laughter there, the sort of nervous laughter that always occurred in any business when the boss made something that might or might not be a joke and was still fiddling with a gun idly. "So... You know me, right?" he asked genially, looking at them all and retrieving the piece of paper. "As the most educated person here," not said was the fact that he was also expelled from the University in Elendel, "I have already come up with a plan! Yes, a plan..." He unfolded the scrunched up paper and then folded it properly. He tutted to himself as he got blood on it, before storing it away in his pocket with the used bullet. There was silence for a few moments, before one brave soul asked, "A plan? Sir?" "Hm? Yes, yes, the plan... Well, it's pretty simple, isn't it? If you were as smart as me, you'd have realised that the only way to find the lawmen is to kill them, right? I mean, we can't just ask, can we? Stands to reason that they'd lie. Lawmen are like that. Liars. Stands to reason." More nervous glances. "What if they try to run?" "Run? No no, none of you are allowed to run. That defeats the purpose of this thing! How are we meant to find them if they're not here?" "But lawmen are tricky, right? What if they try to run anyway?" Warn looked at the man and raised a finger at him. "You're on thin ice here, boy," he said, giving him a glare. "Have you all no faith in your good old Captain?" No-one asked what he was Captain of. "I've already come up with a plan. Already come up with a plan..." He drew the second revolver and pointed it above their heads, at the mouth of the cavernous complex. Then the gun went off unexpectedly, and he dropped it, swearing. The bullet hit the ceiling, and then there was a rumbling. The keystone gone, the entire opening was suddenly beset by a rockslide. Debris filled the cave, blocking the entrance. "Well... Looks like my plan went off perfectly," Warn declared with a grin. He picked up the gun, which was letting off quick a bit of smoke from the barrel. "Someone get this fixed," he said, handing it off to someone, who regarded the bloody hand and gun cautiously before taking it, grimacing as they did. "Oh," Warn added, as if something had just struck him. "We're also out of some metals." He took another sheet of paper out from his other pocket. "Let's see... Pewter, steel, brass, lead, gold, brass -" he frowned. "I've said brass twice. Anyway, we're not out of chromium, but I'm pinching all of that..." He continued down the list. "Actually, best to say what we have. Aside from your own personal metalminds, which you should all be minding, we only have some iron, a bit bendalloy, some zinc, bronze and tin. Not enough to make new metalminds though. Pity we can't get more, but this is an emergency, right?" "Well, it's pretty dark in here, so I'm going to say that it's night now and go to sleep. I expect results, people!" He held out a coin. "I'll even give out fabulous prizes to people who do well!" He laughed as he left his 'employees' there, looking at each other with confusion. The ghost of his laughter echoed throughout the cavern as he left. Though it was left unsaid, each person there had the same thought: the Lawmen were probably the least of their worries while Warn was in charge. Quick Fix 7 is upon us, ladies and gentlespren! This game should run a bit quicker than most QF games due to the extra kill floating around, which I hope makes up a bit for the fact that it's a more complex Quick Fix game. General Rules Cycles will last two days apiece. As usual for a QF game, each Cycle, one person will be lynched and the Eliminators will make a kill. However, a major difference here is that a random player will also get a kill only usable that Cycle, known as the Smoking Gun. Players get two actions each Cycle, but these actions must be different (not different types, just different actions). Each Role requires an action to be used in a Cycle. Lynches are slightly different in this game as well. There is no threshold of votes that must be reached on a specific person in order for them to be lynched. In the event of a tie, a random player of those tied players will be lynched. Over the course of the game, a player may become injured if they are saved from death by an Archivist. Injured players have only one action for each Cycle following their injury, and do not count towards their side’s victory condition. Injured players cannot be healed in any way. The Lawmen know the identities of each other, and have a Google doc to conspire on. The Lawmen win if they outnumber the Scoundrels. The Scoundrels win if they eradicate all the Lawmen. If the Scoundrels win, the surviving member with the most money wins a personal victory and becomes their new leader. The full order of effects is: Spinner -> Sell -> Purchase -> Rioter -> Koloss Blooded -> Lynch -> Archivist -> Tineye -> Lawman Kill -> Smoking Gun -> Gambling -> Messages -> Transfer -> Seeker -> Lurcher -> Pulser -> Smoking Gun Distribution. Kill Actions Kill Actions work as in any other game. You target a player with your Kill Action, and this magically results in you shooting them with your gun, hopefully killing them. It's not even difficult - simple point and click interface. No distinction will be made between the type of Kill Action in either writeup or Tineye detection. The Smoking Gun kill takes place after the Lawman Kill. Each Cycle, one of the Lawman may impart justice on a player, and kill them using the Lawman Kill Action. The Smoking Gun is given to a player at random each Cycle (possibly even a Lawman). Players whose actions have been prevented the next Cycle by a Pulser are exempt. If a player who gets The Smoking Gun does not use it, then they will die instead. This ‘inactive’ death cannot be prevented in any way. Money Actions Players start with 4 coins. At the end of a Cycle, each player who posted in the thread gets a coin, and each player who voted also gets a second. Whenever a player dies, their money is distributed evenly amongst all players who either lynched or targeted that player on the Cycle of their death (rounded down, even potentially to 0). Vote Auctions - Each Cycle, players may Sell off their vote to another player. This counts as their action and cannot be retracted. Any other player may send an offer to the GM to purchase a vote from a specific player that offers it up, and who they would like it moved to. The highest bid wins, and that player's vote is changed. In the event of a tie, the first player to make the bid wins. For this purpose, all bids should be made in separate messages. Money is taken from the buyer and given to the seller, with a loss of 1 coin. The seller is not informed of who purchased it. The minimum bid is 2 coins. Bartering a vote uses an action. A player may attempt to purchase multiple votes at once, provided they can afford to do so if they win all of them. If they overspend on votes, their entire Purchase Action is lost. Gambling - A player may also Gamble their coins during the Cycle. Each player bets one coin, and twice that number are distributed randomly between all players gambling that night. This requires an action to use. Messaging - Players may also spend their money to Message another player anonymously (though they may of course sign the message) by sending this message to the GM. Within this message, they may also Transfer coins to another player, at no additional cost. While this requires an action to use, any number of messages can be sent as one action. Multiple messages can even be sent to the same player, if the messenger wishes. Each message sent costs 1 coin. Role Actions Koloss-Blooded - A player who is Koloss-Blooded can use their action to defend themselves during a Cycle, and will survive all deaths during that Cycle, completely unharmed. If they would have died this Cycle and this Role prevented it, they then lose this ability. Regardless of whether or not this ability is in effect, as you are neither a Allomancer or Feruchemist, you cannot be detected by Seekers and show up as Roleless. Archivist - An Archivist is able to use their Coppermind's stored knowledge on medicine to save a player from one attack each Cycle. A player saved from death by this will become injured instead. An injured player has only one action each Cycle and does not count for their side’s victory condition. An injured player cannot be saved again by an Archivist. This saves a player from one attack each Cycle, and takes effect before Koloss-Blooded triggers. Spinner - A Spinner’s Vote is safe from Rioters. They are immune to the effects of Pulsing if Spinning is used on the same Cycle a Pulser targets them. If they make a Kill Action, it cannot be prevented by Koloss-Blooded or Archivist. When Gambling, they will automatically win a coin before the normal distribution process occurs. These effects require an action to use. Pulser - A Pulser may target a player during each Cycle. The next Cycle, neither players' Votes nor Actions will take effect. A player whose Actions & Vote should be prevented this way will be informed, and they will not be given The Smoking Gun. As the user’s actions the following Cycle are prevented, this Action cannot be used on consecutive Cycles. If a Spinner is targeted while using their Role, the Pulser still feels the effects of their own Pulsing, even if the Spinner does not. Rioter - A Rioter is able to change another player’s vote each Cycle. This takes place after Auctioning decides where a vote is placed. If an Auctioned vote is changed (i.e., if the vote is not placed where the purchaser wants it), then the Auction is negated and no money changes hands. Tineye - A Tineye is a master of observation and detection. As an action, the Tineye may follow a player around and see if they use a Kill Action. The Tineye will be told who they killed or attempted to kill if so, but not whether it was The Smoking Gun or a Lawman Kill. Seeker - Seekers can use their action and target a player to discover their Role, if any. You cannot detect Koloss-Blooded this way. Lurcher - A Lurcher makes for rather an impressive thief, able to use their action to steal coins from another target player. The amount stolen is 33% of that player's coins, rounded down. Lurching occurs after all money-based actions. The game will begin on Tuesday the 14th of April, at 9PM GMT. Until then, have fun signing up and RPing and stuff Write ups:

An absolutely insane game, as expected. Looks fun though. I particularly want to see people RP those apologies. No gameplay effect whatsoever, just incredibly amusing to me . I note there though that I go mad, get a kill contract on me from Kas, and get killed, apparently after trusting Kas enough to elevate him up as well. I feel like there's something you're trying to tell me, Wilson (though I don't mind being used as a warning an educational example). Also... 'Wyrm will have +4 to his Insanity Roll, making it all that much more likely that he will go insane.'. Sigged with no context .

I would be interested in this, since my current PbP game has basically died (for the third time, I swear...). I've used Roll20 before for D&D (briefly), but not the forums themselves, so should be rather interesting to see if they do anything different to help with roleplaying. My only concern is timezones - I am on GMT, so that might be a bit of a problem. If you don't mind what timezone we're on, then I submit the Elimination games I've GMed with their writeups: First writeup for a Scadrial game. First writeup for a Roshar game. Bonus mark, RPing in another game (Annual Game). Ignore the fact that I forgot to colour some of the OOC text >>.

The Royal Mint can indeed open for business, that's true. I could 'fix' things a bit potentially, but I'd sort of rather that I, as the GM, didn't have to. I could certainly consider doing it based on a set pattern - The Head of the Royal Bank/Mint could even be an additional Role, with the passive power of generating money for the game. Currently certain Roles charge for their services. I could consider certain other Roles doing that though - Retrophrenolgist would be a good one, as would the Bouncer. Policemen though, I would give money rather than taking it from people - Thematically speaking, the policemen stealing money from their suspects doesn't fit the Disc. The idea for the Beggar though is a good one - And one that's canon. The Beggar could follow someone Day and Night and need to be paid off during the Night to prevent them finding out their Role. That works rather well. The Beggar gets no bonuses from having money, they're just greedy . The Fool also belongs to their own Guild (not that they have benefits from being part of it...), and their ability does not shuffle Cult membership, which is Alignment. However, I don't know how I could forget the Alchemist's Guild. They need something rather explosive... Could also do Gambler's Guild (Excretvs ex fortvna), who just gets to bet money. I am going to rewrite the rules I have, flesh them out and make them a bit more amusing/fixed, and place them in my doc.

Good catch. I may rethink the Grandmaster being affected by the Fool entirely then. Anything else would just lead to a 'soon as possible' thing.

In all honesty, this game has a load of holes that need patching up before it gets into a properly playable state. Current modification thoughts: Journalists get paid 1 dollar each article they write. Players must pay 1 dollar each Night (not as an action) to receive the Newspaper. Postmen get paid 1 dollar each Cycle. Postmen are responsible for a proportion of the players' PMs. If a Postman decides not to work, the people they are responsible for lose their PMs the next Cycle. Only Thieves get told who is rich.

In honour of the passing of a great man. I've had this thought floating around my head for a few days, but after today... Well, I had to finish it and post it. I've tried to get in as many references as possible for a game like this. Ankh-Morpork Elimination (LG) General Rules The Game progresses as a standard Long Game. In the style of LG6, there is a standard Eliminator faction, and a cult group (but not limited in size). There is also a monetary aspect, and I'd appreciate ideas to help with that. This game will most likely be Role Madness. Players start with 1 Ankh-Morpork dollar (Lords start with 3, Beggars start with 0). Players gain 1 dollar for posting in the thread each Turn (so one in the Day, one in the Night). Money is lost on death, not stolen. Players with 10+ coins become publicly known. Players may give any amount of money to each other without using an Action, by informing the GM. The player will not be told who gave them the money. Players may spend 2 dollars to add 2 to the bounty on a player as a Night Action. Players may spend N+1 dollars as a Night Action, where N is the number of Thieves, to become safe from Thieves for 5 Cycles. In this case, each Thief will receive 1 dollar. Roles Officer of the Watch (Day/Night) - Players may be Day Watch or Night Watch. During the relevant Turn, an Officer may detain another player, preventing their vote from going through, or from any actions taking place that Turn. Assassin - At the beginning of each Night, the GM will inform you of the bounties on the three players with the highest bounty, as long as it is above 4. You may choose one of the three people with the highest bounty and kill them as your Night Action. Upon the successful completion of this bounty, you will get the bounty in dollars, minus 2 dollars Guild tax. If unsuccessful, their bounty will be cleared. Thief - Each Night, you may steal from a player who isn't paid up with the Thief's Guild. You will steal 2-4 dollars from them. 1 dollar will then be paid to the Guild. If a player buys Theft Insurance, 1 dollar will be given to each Thief, and they will be notified that the player cannot be stolen from for five whole Cycles. Beggar - Your Role is to try and coax as much money out of players as possible. Each Day, you may spend your Action to follow a player around for the entire Cycle, annoy them, and discover their Role if they use it. You start with no money. Fool - Once per game, during either the Day or Night, you may reshuffle the Roles of everyone else still alive (not their Alignment). Seamstress - During the Day, you may target a player with your Action. Their vote will be changed to one of your choice. You will also take one of their Dollars. Retrophrenologist - You may target a player each Day and give them a random Role from amongst their own and ones lost by death/Retrophrenology (this does not affect their Alignment). Postman - Neither rain nor snow nor glom of nit can stay these mesengers abot their duty. As long as there is at least one Postman alive, PMs can be sent between players without any restrictions. You also know the identities of all other Postmen. Ankh-Morpork Times Journalist - The Truth Shall Make Ye Fret! During the Night, you may either send the GM a message to be posted in the writeup (you must sign your article off the same way each time, though it doesn't have to be with your character's name), or you may follow a player around and discover their Alignment. Mended Drum Bouncer - You can protect a player (yourself included) from attacks during the Night, including Thieves, Assassins, and Eliminators. However, if you protect against an Eliminator, or an Assassin targets you and you protect yourself to survive, you will become injured and lose this ability. Wizard - You spend most of your time being very good at not casting spells. Should you wish to though, you may as your Action each Cycle (Day or Night depending on the Role chosen), copy any Role's ability, aside from the Fool. You may not copy the same Role twice. You should also be rather wary about casting spells too often... Alignments 'Loyal' Ankh-Morporkians - Most players will be loyal Ankh-Morporkians (loyal to the Ankh-Morpork dollar, that is). They have no special rules. They win when all the Treasonous Lords or Elucidaed Brethren of the Ebon Night are dead. The Guilds - Regardless of whether they are 'Loyal', a Lord or one of the Bretheren, mBeggars, Thieves, Assassins and Seamstresses all also belong to Guilds (as do the Fools, but they don't care about monetary matters). The Guild with the most money at the end of the game will win a secondary victory over the other Guilds. Treasonous Lord - The Patrician may have been a good thing for Ankh-Morpork, but you know you could do better now. It's time for him and his supporters to be retired - with force if necessary. You start off with more money than any other player. You know the bounties on each player. You automatically start in a PM group with the others. Once per Night, one of you may use your action to target a player and have them assassinated (by an NPC Assassin). Lords employ NPCs with Roles rather than having one themselves: Effectively they may have another Role, just like Thud Players, but their Role cannot be gifted by Retrophrenology. Elucidated Brother of the Ebon Night - The Brethren may have become a little smaller (in fact, decreasing to 1 person) in the last few years, but you are determined to rebuild it. Each Night the Grandmaster may target a player and convert them to the cult. You may talk via a PM without the presence of a Postman, and win together when the Brethren outnumber the other players. Aside from the Grand Master, Brothers may also have another Role (The Grandmaster may lose their role and gain a new one via The Fool or Retrophrenology. If this happens, the Grandmaster Role is lost permanently).

It's kind of ironic that Death is the most human of all his characters. That quote from Mort pretty much sums up how I feel about this. He's been a massive part of my life, my dad's life, my godfathers' lives, my friends' lives... He's just touched upon and improved so many people's lives with his books - And that's not even considering his more recent work to help combat Alzheimer's. His humour may have been sort of quintessentially British, but he had fans everywhere, and his is a loss that is felt by the entire world. I will miss Terry Pratchett.
