  1. Why doesn't our evidence add up to anything? We've got Unodus bang-to-rights as a Rioter. The question is whether or not he is Spiked, or just mucking around with his powers. Why do you say that Jain is probably a Rioter, and why is Pifferdoo a Rioter/Soother? And as for Mailliw not being suspicious, it's more that he is in the back of our minds as a possibility - Just as much as Claincy is for me, or I am for them. It's silly to trust anyone 100% in the game right now. I'm not going to remove my vote, because I want you to explain a few things there.
  2. Well, I was going to place my own vote on Mailliw, but it seems someone beat me to it I agree that we shouldn't focus this Cycle. It's as important that we find other people as we confirm current suspicions. Looking back over how previous vote have gone, there are a few people I am suspicious of again. At the moment, I would like to hear from Mckeedee. So far, he has only voted when it's been a guaranteed lynch. I find that to be suspicious behaviour, perhaps indicative of playing it too safe. I would like to know why he has shied away from voting, and what he thinks about things and people on his own terms, rather than looking at who's up for the chop and agreeing with it. It may be a while before I can get back online to read/change votes (busy weekend), so in the meantime, I charge you all with discussing a lot. The enemy here is not the Spiked, but apathy.
  3. Finally, a question I can answer! (even if it is quite a bit easier for someone in the UK compared to America) Manchester United Manchester City Celtic Queen's Park Rangers Queen's Park Leeds United Newcastle United Arsenal Crystal Palace Southampton Bonus mark, and one not in the UK - Barcelona I'm not a football fan, but this just goes to show how much of an influence it has on life here in the UK if I can think of them without caring about any of them. Bit of a cheat though - Practically every small or large town here has a football club, and we haven't got particularly interesting names. I could have added the terrible ones for small towns, but I'll leave that aside. The only one that got me was I was going to add Wolverhampton, but turns out that it's not the full name of the club. It's Wolverhampton Wolves FC. I also couldn't tell you where some of these are, other than the obvious and that 3-5 are Scottish (I think) and Crystal Palace is... London? I don't know. But in any case, critereon met! Name seven different Psychopomps and the location(s) they take souls to, from both fiction and mythology. Kasimir is disqualified from answering it for answering it before in a PM .
  4. I think I speak for a load of people in the rest of the world when I say that I would've contributed if it weren't for the extremely high cost of getting my own set of dice. I'm hoping that to this is opened up more to the rest of the world at a later date, as it would be a real shame if we can't get them without buying six times the amount just to cover postage.
  5. The problem with that is that if you do die tonight, then your suspicions die with you, and we might lose because you hold the key bit of information that we need to sway our minds towards someone who is indeed Spiked. You can keep information because for later, but what if there is no later? Regardless, I've pressed that information quite a bit for the moment, and we need a lynch. I'm taking my vote off Unodos, and for now it's going on dowanx. I'd rather lynch a semi-active Villager than an actual active one. But if dowanx is indeed innocent, then this will rapidly swing back towards Unodos, and more besides. Just remember that we need a decent majority by the end of the Cycle to ensure a lynch. Also, Newan, fairly sure that Mailliw does not trust me still .
  6. If you're on the ropes, the best thing to do when you can't convince people of your innocence (in this case, where the evidence is more circumstantial, for instance) is to bring up other points. The choice isn't 'you or no-one', it's 'you or someone else'. Convince us that someone else is Spiked. If they are Spiked, as you suspect, then surely that's a good thing! Not only are we one step closer to victory, but you've been proven to be innocent. Sure, you might die the next Night Cycle, but remember that you don't have to survive in order to win. As for keeping records of the votes, I am doing so as well. I can basically guarentee that Claincy and Mailliw will be, as will most of the other regulars (admittedly, most of whom are dead). Everyone should be keeping records of how voting's gone so far, just because it can show patterns amongst players and links.
  7. I'd like to ask Unodos to explain why he's only recently decided to vote, and why he has not actually contributed anything to the game. So far, as far as I can tell all he's done has been to ask a few questions (often misunderstanding what it actually means in the first place) and point out somewhat obvious information. Unodos, what do you think so far? Who are you suspicious of?
  8. Hmm, so we did have four Smokers. I'm not too surprised, Meta is our GM. At least we managed to catch ourselves before we took Newan out as well as Winter. Apologies Newan for all the suspicion that we threw at you earlier, but it all worked out for the best, eh? Regardless, the fact that Weiry is actually a Smoker is a shame, as Newan was an easy lynch afterwards for us if he was . I really was hoping he was their Mistborn, since that would give us so much information, but him being another Smoker wasn't something that crossed my mind. In any case, while taking out the Lurcher may be the least of what Roles we'd ideally like to take out on the Spiked side, it's still a Role we know exists, and we may be able to draw connections between Weiry and other players now. I too am suspicious of Unodos. Not only because of these odd votes, but also because previously Unodos has been refusing to vote until there is more evidence. While that could just be due to being a new player uncertain of what to do, it's also pretty good cover for a Spiked player to hide behind when new, as it allows them to give out no information at all and slide under the radar while being active. But let's look at the other possibilities first. The Rioter cannot be Jasnah. She has not been online since the 11th. Likewise, dominic1994 (8th) and Macen (4th) have been off even longer. dowanx, however, was online today, about an hour before rollover. We may have a pretending-to-be-inactive Spiked here, though obviously we have no evidence to use against him. If we had a Coinshot, we could take him out at Night, but... In any case, it will be interesting to see what the Night Turn will bring. Edit: Fixed 'that Weiry is actually a shame' -> 'that Weiry is actually a Smoker is a shame'
  9. Hmm... You've given me a thought with Rioters... Quick bit of reworking: Rioter - With your powers, you are able to cause quite the number of scandals after work. As a Night Action, you may target a player, and they will be Fired the next Day. (swapped with Sparkers) Sparker - You can hack into the company files and delete any data about a player. As a Night Action, you may target a player to prevent them being Fired the next Day by Actions taken that Night. Coinshot - You can kill Fired players only. (nerfed from Fired and Employed to make balancing easier) Archivist - You may target a Fired player each Night and they will be Employed again at the end of the next Day, if you are not Fired as well. (buffed due to Coinshot nerfing) Spinner - Modified Spinner slightly to fit better with the themes going on.
  10. Mistrun: Megacorporate Takeover (LG) The 'Final' Empire was not so final. Five hundred years since the death of the old world and the birth of the new, and the face of Scadrial has changed completely. Sprawling metropolises litter the landscape, from the city of Elendel on the North Pole, all the way around to its counterpart in the South. The world is smaller now, and the secrets it once hid had been brought to light. No longer do people only worship Harmony, or Ironeyes, or the ghost of The Lord Ruler. The only god here is capitalism. The rulers of this land are the ten 'Megacorporations', vast businesses that have divided the world and its resources up between them. They employ most of the people on Scadrial, and for those they employ, life is good. People slip between the cracks, but that is to be expected when they hate the Megacorps and refuse their aid. Many turn criminal, becoming 'Mistrunners', and breaking into or hacking the Megacorps to cause damage or steal. 'From cradle to grave': You were born in a Heron IndustriesTM hospital. You were raised in a Heron IndustriesTM nursery. Educated in a Heron IndustriesTM school. You work for Heron IndustriesTM. You get your metals from a Heron IndustriesTM foundry. And when you die, you will be buried by a Heron IndustriesTM funeral service, in a Heron IndustriesTM cemetery. You don't have to worry about the less important things in life, because you know Heron IndustriesTM will see you through. This means that you can focus on your job - more importantly, the advancement of your job. Opportunities for promotion are not rare, though the Megacorps make you work for it. Such an opportunity has recently arisen, as a matter of fact. Word has come down from upon high that they suspect a group of Mistrunners has managed to infiltrate the work force at the Heron IndustriesTM Headquarters, based in Elendel. Not only can you help to protect your jobs, but perhaps your superiors will take notice of your love for Heron IndustriesTM and reward you appropriately... Setting Based on the cyberpunk dystopian world of Shadowrun, players are all employees of one of the ten Megacorporations of the world, Heron IndustriesTM (which develops many things, but focuses mainly on the mining, processing and transportation of metals). Players have been employed by them all their working life, and are pampered and well-treated in the city that is the local Heron IndustriesTM headquarters. But the flip side of this is that a criminal underworld has developed in response, based on the Skaa underworld of the Final Empire. Some see the Megacorporations as tyrants that use their power to crush any who try to stand against them (and perhaps they are right - Megacorporations have their own cities, their own police, and are even considered to be sovereign countries within international law). Others simply see the lifestyle the Megacorporations can provide, and want to take it for themselves. Regardless of their reasons, however, these criminals, or 'Mistrunners' often attack Megacorporations and their assets, trying to harm the company as much as possible. Due to the need for good publicity, often a Megacorporation will even hire them to attack a rival covertly, destroying or stealing data to ensure they remain a step ahead. But for most players, only two things matter: They are trying to destroy your livelihood, and it's a great opportunity to prove your loyalty and get ahead of your peers. Can you survive the cutthroat world of business and get that fabled promotion to the top? Rules This game acts like a standard Elimination game, except that players are Fired rather than lynched or killed by Eliminators. Players are Fired at the end of the next Day Turn. A Fired player is sent to the Jobseekers' Doc, cannot interact with Employed players in the thread, and cannot send PMs or take any actions. Roles and Alignments are only revealed when a player dies. The Mistrunners win if the number of them Employed outnumbers the number of Employed Loyalists. The Loyalists win if all the Mistrunners are Fired or dead. Only the players still Employed by Heron IndustriesTM win if the Loyalists win. Roles Archivist - You know so much about the law that you can twist it around your fingers. During a Night Turn, you may target a Fired player. At the end of the following Day Turn, they will be reinstated providing you are still Employed at the end of the Day as well. Coinshot - You may target a Fired player each Night Turn and kill them. You bastard. Sparker - You may invade Heron IndustriesTM's computer systems and change or delete data. During the Night Turn, you may target a player and prevent any Actions from being able to Fire them that Night. Rioter - You may cause a scandal after work, prompting Heron IndustriesTM to take immediate reaction and Fire a target player at the end of the next Day. Kandra - The wonders of Heron IndustriesTM SynthskinTM mean that you don't have to wait for someone to be dead to pretend to be them to discover their connections. Each Night Action you may discover the Alignment of target Employed or Fired player. Seeker - You're paranoid enough to stalk people each Night instead of getting a decent night's sleep. You may target an Employed or Fired player each Night Action, and you will learn what Role they have, if any. Connector - You're able to manipulate peoples' feelings to suit your own whims. Each Day Turn, you may change target player's vote at the expense of your own (they must have voted), or you may nullify a vote against you (no target). Soother - You may force someone to be docile enough to cover your shift, ensuring that they cannot take any action this entire Cycle. Note that they will be informed of this during the Day Turn. Spinner - You're incredibly lucky. Maybe a few files that went missing turn up, or your boss' report on your bad behaviour vanished overnight. Whatever the reason, the first time you would be Fired, you will be automatically reinstated at the end of the very next Day. Steelrunner - You're fast. So fast that you are forced to be a go-between for people, delivering messages all day. It pays the bills, at least. As long as there is one Steelrunner still Employed, players can send messages during the Day Turn only. Steelrunners can also leave a message on their superior's desk each Night Turn. I would not be against an idea or two more for Roles, I must admit, if they can be fit into this world. I would mostly like a Lurcher-style Role to protect against night-Firings, I think.
  11. So, let's look at this again. Why was Weiry Smoked and Lurched? Well, the Lurching makes some sense, since Sarco painted a bit of a target on him, but at the same time, if I was Spiked, I'd have expected the Village to try to lynch him, see what could be drawn out by people. Admittedly though, we've been terrible at lynching the people we really suspect, so let's disregard that. So Weiry's either a Villager or Spiked, and they want to either save him for the next lynch to take him out instead (perhaps throw suspicion on him as well to seem more Village), or they want to distract us again. This doesn't tell us much, but I'd be a bit doubtful that they'd save a Villager like that at the moment - Not discounting that Weiry could be a Lurcher himself. But, as I say, this isn't damning evidence. So let's look at the Smoking reason. I don't think that the Spiked would randomly attempt to Smoke Weiry. There's just no reason for them to do that or for Sarco to Sooth his vote. If anything, I would've expected Sarco to go for one of the people who's spoken a lot and voted a lot more. Unless the Spiked knew he was going to do so, it's just too coincidental. As a gambit, it's nonsensical unless both Sarco and the Smoker are Spiked, which we know isn't true (or is highly unlikely). So, the question then becomes 'If Weiry is Spiked, why was he Smoked rather than a more active player?' Putting these two points together, the question is - Why is Weiry so important for the Spiked to protect? Why was he Smoked AND Lurched? The Lurching makes sense, as I say, but the Smoking does not when we consider the information at hand. Smoking tends to be done on players who are catching peoples' eyes, or are experienced players, and up until last Night, Weiry was neither. There must be an additional reason for the Spiked to protect him above others. So, my hypothesis is this: Weiry is the Spiked Mistborn. We must be prepared for him to be a Thug today. Following on from the Spiked still using Smoking defensively, there are two possibilities. One, they haven't considered using it offensively, or two, they are worried that there is still a Seeker in the Village. They may in fact not even have a Seeker, but this seems unlikely due to how they've been hitting people.
  12. At this point in time, I'm not too bothered about who we lynch as all the people up for the chop are people I am highly suspicious of. I will in fact change my vote though, from Newan to Weiry, as I have realised how much more information we get from Weiry's death than Newan's - And Weiry might have a much more important Role than Newan. Note though, that we cannot afford another draw this Cycle. We need at least two more votes on one person than the next - Perhaps even three, just to be safe. Something I don't quite understand - Why are we saying that Weiry could be a false positive, when they would have had to know on Night 4 who Sarco was going to Sooth in order to block it? I'd also like to know who knew Hreo's Role, other than Mailliw and Claincy, because I am pretty sure that one of those people is Spiked. Did Hreo really not share that with people, just in case something might happen? Edit: Night 5 to Night 4. Got a bit confused counting backwards.
  13. Well, looks like I ninja'd Claincy there, so I think I'm willing to remove my vote . It's good to know that Weiry was actually part of a gamble, and while it doesn't clear you both, it makes me feel a little better. I don't think Sarcomere did reveal his Role there, though he hinted towards knowledge that the average player wouldn't have all the same. The fact that Weiry was actually singled out means one of two things then - Either Claincy or Mailliw are Spiked, or they did indeed suspect that a Coinshot would hit him last Night. I would like to know why you decided to Coinshot him though, myself, when we should have lynched him. Though I suppose we couldn't get that much info off him, at this point. We should almost certainly lynch him at the end of the day though, just to stave off lynch-or-lose a bit longer. So, two questions remain here: Firstly, how do you know that Newan wasn't the Spiked Smoker? Secondly, if Weiry is indeed an Eliminator, then I would like to say that I called it Also, just to clarify, I knew that Wilson was a Lurcher, but she never told me her targets.
  14. Let's break down what has happened: Weiry was protected. This could either mean that he is a Lurcher, or that he is Spiked and the Spiked have a Lurcher (which may or may not be Weiry). If the former, then it is likely that he is a Villager. If the latter, then it implies that the Spiked knew who our target was, and were able to protect them because of it. Hreo is dead, and he was our Coinshot. Only two people knew of this - Claincy and Mailliw. Coupled with the fact that the target was protected, I find this very suspicious. Mailliw told me last night that there were three possible targets - Peng, Newan and someone else. I do not know if Claincy knew who the last target was, but even so... Wilson thought we might have a leak early on in the game, and her explanation as to why Claincy was innocent never struck home with me. I requested that the Coinshot get in touch with me (through both Claincy and Mailliw), in case one of the two in contact died and the other was an Eliminator. It could be that my request spurred them to get rid of the Coinshot before I could talk to them or find the fact that he hadn't gotten in contact with me suspicious.
  15. Actually, I don't believe that they have ever shown us that they have a Soother to affect votes, at least as far as I remember. Rioting could be the only thing they were able to do to fix the vote - and that's assuming that they had their Rioter on at rollover. The other alternatives are; that both Peng and Newan are Eliminators, but that doesn't seem entirely likely to me, or they want to tie the lynch again and waste our votes. At the very least, the fact that it is a tie will show us something if/when these two die, particularly with the last minute voting going on. Speaking of which, what was with the three votes near the end? We know they have a vote manipulation Role, you should never have put it anywhere near a tie like that. Alright, I know it shouldn't have been if one vote was retracted properly, but even so, it's still way too risky to not have a minor bandwagon at this point at the end of the Day (note, at the end only).
  16. See, that's what I don't get. Why are you taking this game seriously when you've not been here at all? Or, to put it another way, if you've not been here at all, why are you taking it so seriously? I get that you're looking for work, but if you did indeed think so much of it, then I would have expected you to set aside some time to keep up to date and do things with it. You're not exactly invested in it either, and its seems your entire point is basically 'I don't want to die'. You have no alternatives to offer, aside from suggesting that it's a waste. But lynch Cycles are never wasted, as they all give information. We're not quite in lynch-or-lose just yet, after all. As for saying that you didn't use your power last night... That could also mean that you were the one who did the kill last night. This would suggest that you as a group are not afraid of being Sought, which could also imply (and confirm suspicions) that you have a Seeker on your team. So in conclusion, I'm not removing my vote, as I still find you suspicious.
  17. Right, since we have a little bit of a discussion going on there, then I will remove my vote from Peng. I would like to hear from Newan. You've posted a few times, but are you following the game at all?
  18. But what would you like him to explain about what he's done, exactly?
  19. Let's try Peng. Care to explain why you've just placed a vote on someone with no reasoning behind it? You then messaged me, saying 'I think I'm on to something, so vote with me today and I'll vote with you tomorrow'. Still no reasoning. So why exactly do you think you're on to something with Joe? No marks for partial answers!
  20. ...Didn't quite realise there were ten votes on him. We probably got a little carried away there, in hindsight. My apologies, Ash. We were right to worry about manipulation, certainly, but probably should have stopped a little shy of that. Let's hope that it at least leads us to a Spiked player in the long run. In general terms, back to the drawing board, I guess. I'm not sure where my suspicions lie now. I've spent most of the last few days thinking about things through the lens of Ashiok's guilt, but that kind of just falls apart now. I'm still wary of a few players, but no-one (no, not even Wilson, after this) seems to me to be overly suspicious to me. That won't stop me voting or anything, but I will need to re-evaluate things quite a bit, when I have the time. I think it will be most interesting to see where people go during the vote tomorrow, after this.
  21. While I'd agree with most of that, I'd say that the whole 'keeping up via private browsers' thing would be fair play, myself. After all, we're not all logged in at all times. For that matter, it's not as if us being logged in proves that we're following the thread (though it may seem that I'm on here during all my waking hours), and I see no issue with merely reading the thread while logged out or in private browsing. You can read PMs via email, for instance. Certainly, unless some massive issue crops up on the forum, orders should be sent in via a PM to the GM, and PMs should be via the forum instead of anything else, but I think that asking everyone to be logged in when merely checking the forums is a bit too much.
  22. I never said that killing an inactive isn't a waste. I posted yesterday in reply to Weiry about what we should do with inactives, and that's Coinshot them for the reason you state there (that is, someone may feign inactivity and only turn up to use their Role). However, if we lynch an inactive, what do we get out of it? Pretty much a 1/5th chance of hitting a Spiked, and that's it. We gain no information on their allies or anything like that. If they haven't posted so far, then it's very unlikely they'll post just in response to a poke vote this late in the game, particularly when they're not in danger. Every day we lynch an inactive results in an active kill from the Eliminators and one day less of discussion. This is why it's a terrible idea to lynch inactives, and has historically always been something the Eliminators suggest when they're in a comfortable position and relatively in the clear.
  23. I would very much like to know why people are voting for Macen. That's two votes on someone who is entirely inactive, and has shown no signs of turning up at all. There is no point voting for someone who is entirely inactive. In fact, in this case it can actually hinder us by providing the Spiked with someone else to target with the lynch. If Ashiok is indeed guilty, as I and others suspect (though I admit that I am less sure than some), then I think that I will be taking a closer look at Weiry and Peng after this. My reasoning for Ashiok being an Eliminator can be found bundled in with Wilson's other reasons, but I will add that something about his responses just seems... off to me. Surely this is the sacrifice-for-information you wanted, Ashiok? Though backtracking a little, that's another point to consider. Weiry survived a Cycle. Clearly an Eliminator . Edit: As an aside... BOW BEFORE YOUR KING!
  24. I don't think I did answer it, so I'll do that now for you. My reasoning is pretty simple - We don't want to waste lynches on inactives who won't be defending themselves or generating a discussion and we can't generate intel on. Therefore, it is by far better to kill them during the Night. If they are a Villager, then it doesn't matter because as an inactive they wouldn't be helping us, and if they are an Eliminator, then it's one less for us to have to find. In addition to that, they could be Eliminators pretending to be inactive. We shouldn't be taking them out instead of our actual suspicions if we have people to kill first, but if we have nothing else to do, then we might as well. I was also wondering if anyone would come out of inactivity in response to that to prevent themselves from possibly being targeted, but that didn't seem to happen, sadly.
  25. Actually, it may not have been in their best interests to get Ostrich lynched. By saving him, they made it look more like Ostrich was an Eliminator, and so the idea would be to make us waste another lynch on him and draw the wrong conclusions for another Cycle. They probably didn't expect him to be taken out by Coinshot rather than lynch. I think this has happened before, with Kal Dell back in QF2 (though that was also to let them kill someone that Cycle too, either Kas or myself, can't remember). That was Hreo and Renegade as Eliminators, incidentally. So I wouldn't say it was entirely random interference.
