Double-posting, as it's been a while and this is an entirely new thing. I just love nonsense. VYADMTNAHWBBSSRFVUXKIRGERTYCBUJRVXIVIHRKIOSPOHTHCHIZEOCUTUJVNTKAUFBXEIGBVRFZFYWQPRXZWVZAVAIFEYKHNVWCZTU Edit: Would also be handy if you responded on here. I'm not going to answer things said in your doc. Can't catch me that easily.

1. You don't want to lynch an innocent? We may not be Eliminators, but this is still a game of Mafia at its core. You have to lynch people to get anywhere. Lynching inactives may be advised, but only in the late-game when you're clearing house, and generally even that isn't suggested. It's the kill Roles that should do that, but this time round they're better off going for actives. 2. My mission isn't to mislead you all, it's to help every single team whittle down their enemies. ...And to troll you a little, I guess. But just a little >>. 3. Well, I kind of have two things I want to happen right now: For me not to die, and for Diplomats to get taken out. The former's going to happen at some point, just a question of whether it's now or later. And the latter just isn't going to happen. Oh, nevermind Also, anyone else thought of the fact that if Glory finds my other half on their doc... They're going to possibly be clean of our influence? At that point, what happens? Do you really think they'll help you root out us for you? No, at that point, it's beneficial for them to not bother anymore with that sort of thing, and concentrate on the faction war rather than the hidden faction. After all, then they can probably share all their Roles safely and make plans for the late-game, wouldn't you say? Then it will be 'let's take out the other teams, since that will also take us out in the crossfire. Edit: Glory's also planning on Bribing a certain Bloodsealer this Cycle. Might not be a good idea if the highest-population team gets two Bloodsealers and a Striker.

If you suspect him, why didn't you put him forward as a lynch candidate? Seems Glory doesn't care all that much about finding Discoverers now if they have a serious candidate but put forward an inactive instead. And I do take a bit of offence at the idea that my only job here is to die. Is your only use to wait, discuss and die, Kipper? Just because you have an important role and should be killed very soon because of it doesn't mean that I'm any less useful alive than you. I am your link to the Discoverers. You all know who everyone else works for, why should I be any different? I am now an information broker. Talk to me about who you want killed. We'll try and make it happen. Hell, long as I'm alive, you can get information from me. I am very happy to pass through ideas, particularly if a faction helps us more than the rest... Soon as I die though, that's it. Offer expires as I do. ALCSYCLQSEHUZYLPDAXIWAFLAKRMHVNFLEEWVLTZLZXOOSFHCHBLRQQBBQIOCZOJQSDSKUVXJBBXBOAWRWQFLFETUMWEITWNRUGQLSCOBPVETOQIQSNYGVUA Also, if you know what I was doing when the above post that Kipper was so... Interested... In, then please tell me, as me and my doc-mates would love to know.

But you'll miss my announcement of candidacy for the presidency Can confirm. Glory's found one, so they don't care anymore, according to my friends. Bort in particularly was very talkative in the doc. Almost as much as me . Zas barely said anything, so pretty much literally anyone else is better than that. They just want to drop inactives.

So wait... You guys would rather take out the guy who has no powers than... Literally anyone else? Seems a bit odd to me. I mean, right now, I am literally the weakest player in the game. You know where I am, so killing me seems a bit pointless, doesn't it? Not when you could be taking out the stronger teams - Or even another Discoverer. Hell, Glory has already said that they didn't think it was worth going as far as killing a Spooked player, and I agree with them, regardless of what side I'm on. Better targets exist for you all. I am disappointed that I was Spooked for the exact same reason as last game - No suspicions from inside the doc, just priority targeting. Ah well, c'est la vie. At least I can be safe and happy in the knowledge that Wilson trusted me enough to reveal who the other Diplomat was to us... Not that it matters, since they were Svordish and all. Although, if Adamir is wrong... Hang on a sec, thinking about it, who was meant to protect me but didn't? I am most disappointed in them, considering our other targets for them were our known/claimed Diplomat (who you wouldn't target) and the Arbiter that the other teams didn't know about. Not targets whatsoever. And who didn't save Wilson? Maybe I'm better off not being Glorious, if you can't save people for your lives, literally. Speaking of which, have a reward for Spooking me, and let's make it fair: The Only Joe is a Bloodsealer, Eowyn is a Striker, and Bridge Boy is an Arbiter. It's open season: Have fun guys! Edit: I am also now official spokesperson for the Discoverer Faction, AMA.

...Have I accidentally just trolled most of the players via Adamir? Whoops. Wouldn't have done it if I'd known it would cause that much confusion. Well, maybe I would, but I'd warn people first . Right, let's get back to finding the Eliminators. And less board games here please. So, obviously we're kind of expecting you guys in the other factions to not kill Adamir - He benefits you guys more than us anyway, with how his powers work. As such, as the Eliminators actually have no way to kill him (or, for that matter, any player) without convincing people to lynch or kill him. We'll get back to you if we find anything in our investigation - It'd be nice if you guys did the same. Getting rid of the Eliminators helps everyone, regardless of the faction. Edit: Just to settle Kas' nerves, I know the Discoverers aren't Eliminators (as they have no kill), I just wanted to use the word multiple times after he expressed exasperation to me .

Cang Lu sighed as he stared at today's tea. It was not the tea his faction drank, but a gift from a friend. He waited for the Red Robe tea to diffuse into the water fully, then closed his eyes and took a sip. Kaleva's favourite. They were... friends... of a sort. One did not often have friends in the game played at court, but he had been around so long he had picked up... Well, if not friends, then people who didn't actively want him dead. This cup was dedicated to his remembrance. He placed it back down on the table before him, and opened his eyes again. He waited until the taste had entirely deserted him, and only then did he put Kaleva's passing, his murder, out of his mind. It did not do one good to dwell on the past that long. It made you blind to the present, and that got you killed in short order. But he would take this minute to remember. With the Emperor's death, he was perhaps the only one who would mourn Kaleva's passing. Yes. He looked outside, at the streets. They were empty, as would be expected at such an event. People were at home. It was a day of mourning, but also one of rage. The fact that the Emperor was dying - and that such a murder was in truth a kindness - did not quell the fury the people had, not just at his murder, but at the Strikers for failing so terribly to protect him. And, of course, now they were overcompensating, as they always did when failing to protect their charge. His home had been searched twice already before midday, though in deference to his age and frailty, they did not search him too roughly. He was glad of that, and he would not have suffered the indignation quietly if he had been. But now his mind turned to future events. The world would move on rapidly from the Emperor's death. A few tears, some offerings burnt to ease his passing from this world, and then the daggers, real or metaphorical, would be out. The foreseeable future would be a bloody catastrophe, as the rearrangement of government took place. People would be made to retire, possibly alive if they were lucky, allies elevated, enemies cast down, while always having in mind that it would be very nice if their clueless candidate who needed advice from old friends sat in the Emperor's chair, rather than someone else's. Cang Lu sighed and drained his cup. He looked at the leaves left within, and hesitated. No, he would not forecast the future using a dead man's leaves. It would simply be another way to see an omen of darkness and death. He lowered the cup down to the table, and called for someone to bring him one of his usual tea. Sighing to himself, he closed the box of Red Robe, stood up, and placed it on a shelf alongside other boxes of various flavours. All of them were from people he had outlived, and had commanded at least a measure of respect and possibly friendship from. But he was old, and as he grew older still, his allies were starting to succumb to age, or were murdered in the political war. Who was left now that he could give his own box of tea to? Edit: Spent so long writing the RP, I forgot I was actually going to respond to Araris when I posted this >>. I would be very surprised if there were only four or five Discoverers in this game. Not only does it not allow an equal number in each doc (though that is an assumption we are making, it is likely to be correct), but it's lower than the number we had in MR1. I know I shouldn't be referring too much to a previous game, but that is what Kas based this on (and it's well worth a read if you haven't already). Plus, if we consider them Eliminators (though they technically aren't as they don't have a kill), then 1/5th would be the right amount. So I think it's more-or-less guaranteed we have six, split 2/2/2.

Cang Lu swirled the mug a little in both hands. He had to use both hands to keep the remaining tea inside from spilling out; his hands were not as stable as they once were. Nor, for that matter, did he want to chance the ceramic cup slipping from his grasp if he held it in just one hand, and then it smashing on the floor. A powerful omen, it would be, this he knew to be true. But unlike many tasseomancers, he did not believe that the future could solely be found in the leaves. He would not face that omen while he still had the choice. The future could be fought, changed, even won, perhaps. A man with future sight could perform many great tasks, given time. He coughed violently, and some of the hot, strong tea spilling onto the floor and splashing outwards. 'Time', he thought bitterly. Yes, time. A most precious commodity, these days, for both him and the Emperor. He felt cheated, in a way. It was right that the Emperor should be blessed with long life, but at the same time, he was envious that the man would have lived another ten years than him before his death. But then, everyone felt that way, at the end. He sighed and drained the last liquid in the cup, then brought it back down onto the table. He did not stare into the depths just yet, but closed his eyes and leaned back a little, savouring the taste. He hoped they had tea in the world that lay beyond death. Footsteps pounded the stone floor outside his room. Even in his old age, Cang Lu still prided himself on his hearing. It was the courtier's most dangerous weapon, and not one he would give up lightly. Then there was a knock at the door. "Enter," he said, wincing as he sat back up, and then straightening his shirt a little. A guardsman entered the room, and snapped off a salute. Cang Lu wearily waved for him to stop. There was no need for a salute - just because he was paying the man didn't mean he was suddenly the commanding officer. Though the implication of respect was appreciated, particularly in his frail years. "What news of his Imperial Majesty? And shut the door, fool." The guard nodded slightly and did as commanded. "The Emperor is making a strong recovery, and hopes to be well enough to attend next month's festival," he replied, rattling it off with a small strain as if remembering. "He will not be hearing any petitions for now, but petitioners may apply for time to speak with the Emperor when he has made a full recovery." Cang Lu rolled his eyes at the 'when'. "And when we are not following Imperial directives? What do I even pay you for if you spout that worthless propaganda? I pay for you to speak your mind, though even now I fear I am being cheated out of my coinpurse. What is the truth?" The soldier hesitated, and looked around. Cang Lu didn't blame him for being cautious about treasonous talk. Eventually, he slumped a little and gave in to Cang Lu's stare. "The Emperor... does not expect to attend any events during the next month." Cang Lu nodded. "Except one," he muttered, reading between the political lines. "I see. That is... closer than I hoped. Than any of us hoped." An early death would be disastrous. All these plans he had made, and none of them yet in place. "No doubt the stress of ensuring his legacy is only worsening his condition. The sooner that is sorted out, the better for all, I think." Not the least because he would know where the power was expected to be transferred to. This chaos... It was not the useful sort, not for him. "Very well," he continued, giving a small, encouraging smile to the soldier. "I wish to hear of any changes in his condition, so that I may be the first to congratulate him. You are dismissed." Meant to do some RP yesterday, but the day ran away with me - as it's doing now, sadly. But I digress. I actually disagree with Wilson that we need to have the faction list posted at the start of each Cycle to find spooked Discoverers (though I don't disagree that it should be posted) - We know if anyone's been spooked from our doc, after all, so we can just say who the Discoverers are. Never mind, I forgot that faction Bribes meant we couldn't be sure why someone was removed from our doc. Still thinking of things in terms of MR1, at least where the Discoverers are involved. As has been mentioned, it's a good idea to find the infiltrators, but a bad one for the faction game. It will hurt the faction that's ahead. I don't think that's too bad though - We each only have a 1/3rd chance of being in the faction that's ahead, and it will be interesting to see who tries to keep things equal. In any case, I think it's probably a small price to pay to find the Discoverers. But then, I note that only we have revealed who is on our doc. Could someone from each other Faction please post their player list? Edit: I'd also not be entirely against trying the different flavours of tea out there .

I *really* don't want to have to keep track of half-wealths. It's just additional fiddly bits which make it harder for me to figure things out. The issue with there not being much benefit between trading between NPCs and PCs will be alleviated a little at the start of the next Generation.

It's a little nebulous. There's not a soldier-to-MP ratio, as your Martial Prowess also includes things like the skills of your soldiers, your House's ability to gather information, stuff like that. You also wouldn't take your entire force somewhere for a simple thing like burning down skaa villages, for example. So it's a bit up in the air.

Generation 1: Turn 4 Lord Tormander gently urged his horse on fowards, its hooves striking the road in time with the steeds behind him. He was at the head of his army, and feeling rather good about the assault that was to get underway as soon as they saw the city walls. He had brought a decent number of his own men, plus the Koloss, and that wasn't even all the preparations he had made for this. The army crested the hill, and Tathingdwen was in sight. So, too, was another army. "What?" Lord Tormander asked, hardly daring to believe what he was seeing. He burnt tin, and suddenly he could make out the heraldry on the flags. "Izenry!" he muttered under his breath. "Lord Izenry. Bastard. Who told him?!" He asked, rounding on his second-in-command. The man spluttered a little, trying to placate the angry Mistborn, but before either of them could calm down, their attention was drawn away. A coin hit the ground before them, followed by Lord Izenry. The man smiled at his counterpart, equal parts surprised and smug. "Why, Lord Tormander! This is a pleasant surprise." "Save it, Izenry," Tormander replied, unable to disguise the bitterness in his voice. "Why are you here?" "I thought it was our duty to the Lord Ruler to expand his empire?" Izenry replied, affecting confusion. "Tathingdwen has repeatedly turned down his order that they join us, so... Well, they have to be made to see reason, yes?" "...I suppose," Tormander admitted, scowling. "Fine. We'll conquer it together. With both our armies, and with two Mistborn, it won't take too long before they realise the futility of their resistance." * Lord Farrsolin looked over a map in a room in the Fortress Seran. "There are too many things on here..." he muttered, before brushing aside the little village markers and representations of troops. He smiled at the clear and barren map. "That looks much better, don't you think?" "My lord?" One of his tacticians asked. "What do you mean?" "The areas around Seran," Lord Farrsolin clarified. "Burn them, take whatever's worthwhile, and send the people to The Lord Ruler. With our compliments, of course." * In a tent out in the Southern Dominance, Lord Erikell stood hunched over a map as well, this one much less detailed than the one in Seran Fortress, but every bit as important to him. "My lord?" "Yes, what is it?" Erikell asked, as he waved the man to allow him in. "More complaints from the troops?" "A few, my lord. We've been out here so long, taking over these farmlands, and... Well, if we were fighting a proper army, we could kind of see why, but... All we're doing is forcing villages to obey us. It's depressing the men." "You can tell the men that we are almost finished," Lord Erikell said. "It will not be long before we are home, I assure you of that. Before that, however, we have this area here to claim," he waved at a part of the map. "More fertile land. I think it is better in the hands of House Erikell than some pointless skaa farmer, don't you? In the long run, the troops will understand why they are here. Now, go reassure them." "...Yes, my lord," the man nodded. * "Find!" The servant sighed, but obeyed, and was at Lord Urbain's side in a heartbeat. "My Lord?" "Find me a glass of wine," Lord Urbain commanded. "...There is one in your hand, My Lord." "Excellent! Good work. You're dismissed until after the tasting has completed." Find sighed and walked off quickly, before his master changed his mind. Lord Urbain, meanwhile, walked over to the host of this little festival, Lord Penrod. "Lord Penrod," he said with a chuckle as he barely avoided spilling wine on his shirt. "How go things?" "Very well, thank you, Lord Urbain," Penrod nodded. "We are just about to start the testing itself." He looked a little closer at Lord Urbain. "Are you nervous? Worried your wine won't win? Well, don't worry. I'm sure the judges will realise the quality of it is beyond measure." "They'd better," Lord Urbain muttered, before tipping his glass back and finishing it off with a gulp. "That's what I'm paying them for." * Tathingdwen is now a part of The Final Empire! The following canal trade routes have been built: Luthadel to Tremredare, Luthadel to Eastern Dominance, Luthadel to Southern Dominance, Luthadel to Western Dominance. I believe this makes all Canals claimed I have been informed at least two are still available. * The following children have been born: Cienthe Uethorn (female), Raine Artorius (female), Dido Tekiel (female), Noerin Izenry (female). I swear my coin is fair >>. Generation 1 Player List * This Turn and indeed, this Generation will end on Sunday the 5th of July, at 5 PM BST (so, an hour earlier than usual). Information will be sent out shortly. If any player wished to sell the Goods they produced this turn to the NPC Nobles and that did not happen, please tell me within the next 24 hours.

So, I have sent out PMs to all the new players, who will begin playing in Generation 2 (5th July - made a mistake when Mailliw asked earlier). It reads 'So, you've signed up for Generation 2. That will begin about this time next week (6PM BST, June 5th). While you're not playing yet, there's a little bit of setup I need to get done first. You're joining with a new House, and to ensure you're on a roughly even footing with everyone else, I'd like to know the sort of general direction your House has followed so far. I'd like up to three choices with regards to this.' To clarify what I mean by this, I mean the sort of industries your house invested in, whether they spent time building up their military, stuff like that. If you have ideas for (again, up to) Actions, that would be even better. Basically, if you had been playing from the start, how would you have played it? Ignoring, of course, interaction between players. I can't quite clarify exactly what you get when you begin though, as it's dependent on how the current 18 players do at the end of Generation 1. I hope you're all still looking forward to playing

Really, the only reason it's public as to whether or not they have been built is just because they're unique buildings (I'm only allowing one canal and road from Luthadel to another city, and one canal and road to a Dominance). Otherwise, it would be hidden information as well. Essentially you can think of it as being a transport company set up by a House (or by another company owned by a House), and the person who really owns the company is hidden away. The Turn will end in four hours and forty minutes.

I kolo what you mean, but once again, you can only spend on action each Turn trying to have a child with your wife.

I'll mention this again, declaring Heirs does not use an Action. Marrying your children off does, but not declaring an Heir.

Meta is completely right - No matter the size or scale of the game, GMing will take time off you. Even the simplest games can have situations crop up which need your attention, whether that's a niche case of the game rules, or the players misunderstanding things. You have to be prepared to be checking your PMs and the thread often enough to catch questions before the writeup, because by then, the answer is practically useless. Not to mention the double-checking needed for the lynches, which we've seen many GMs (myself included), make mistakes with. The bulk of the work comes from setting up, sure. The game takes a while to make, even if it's mostly based on previous ideas. Then there's the time it takes to balance the game, something which is incredibly difficult to get right. It's not just a question of checking whether the Roles are 'normal', and whether the allocations you're planning on are balanced, but whether things work together in a fair manner, and to make sure that the game isn't broken in a fundamental way. Well, that's part of the reason we have thread, to check it for balancing issues. I always say that fun is paramount when it comes to designing a game, but an unbalanced game is probably not fun for either side. Regarding docs, most of the time is spent in setting up and ensuring they're distributed right. There's nothing that says you have to be a constant presence on any or all of them. Just get questions sent to you via PM, and you never have to look at them again (other than, perhaps, checking briefly that none of the copy/paste rules etc. are being broken). So, what about within the game? Well, in my opinion this is a little simpler, because you are kind of just following your own, predetermined rules. It's time-consuming, sure. But this part's only as convoluted as your game rules. The bulk of my time between Cycles is spent doing the write-up. This will usually take me two hours (sometimes a little more, if last-minute changes occur), but I'm aware I write more for my write-ups than most people do (and as Meta says, we should always be thankful that GMs do this at all, as it adds a lot to the setting and scene, in my opinion, particularly if there is a lack of roleplaying going on). The changeover will depend on how many players there are, but for about 20 players, it will usually take a minimum of an hour to note down all the changes and send out PMs. But that's not including the time spent within the Cycles themselves. It's when your job is less difficult, yes, but just look at how many clarifications some games have had. It may not seem like much, a post here and there, but it all adds up. It can also be a little irritating, if the clarification is already in the rules, for example. But as GM, your job is to be patient with people and explain things they don't understand or that aren't covered by the rules. So if it's that much work, why GM? Because, as Meta says, it's incredibly satisfying to run a game. I like knowing that people are enjoying something I created, and I like watching people discover how things work, even if the rules are all there for all to see beforehand. I encourage everyone to try their hand at GMing if they can, even if the list is somewhat long right now, but you should be aware of three things, in my opinion, before you sign up. You need a fun and balanced set of rules to run it with. An unfun game won't leave people feeling satisfied, and an unbalanced game will lead to frustration on both ends. You need to be aware of the time it takes to run a game. Set yourself aside two hours each Cycle at a time when you know you're free (preferably the same time each day) to do the changeover. You should start off simple, perhaps adding a new rule to an existing set, rather than trying something incredibly complex. Complex games are much harder to balance, and much harder to run. Don't feel too daunted by this. We're all here to help you develop rules, and we do have a rather excellent trio of moderators who are able to help if any issues do crop up while the game is being played. That's what they're there for . In addition to that, there are also a lot of players with GMing experience now who can also help, if any of them are spectating. We're a friendly community, so don't hesitate to ask for help if you think it is needed.

As a reminder, Generation 2 will start after Generation 1 on the 12th 5th of July. I will be updating the Rules before then to make everything all nice and consistent. Edit: Counting's hard :S

Excellent work! Was my description terrible enough?
-
I'm afraid neither of these are correct (I wasn't even aware that either of these series had vampires in them). How long is one of these meant to go on?
-
None of those guesses are right, I am afraid. Here's another clue then: It's one of the longest running manga in Japan, as it will be 30 years old next year.
-
Vaguely? Definitely recall talking to you about the rules. I think it moved a little away from a game with changing rules (that became Amber), but hey, it works

...Isn't that basically what I do? I just spend my days making games that you really want to play (this is, I believe, the third you've stated that about?) >>.
