  1. Ebonaryle, New Hallandren, Garrison Ebon saw Midas' cape go up, and didn't lean into the slashes of his knives; instead, the momentum of his leap caused them to hit the awakened cloth, but deflect easily. As Ebon's course took him past Midas, he saw the fist coming at his face, and prepared to Shift - but then froze. His gaze locked on something on the awakener's belt - a sphere, revealed by the moving of the cape. He only saw it for a split second, but Ebon recognized it instantly. Another grenade. An idea formed in his head. Maybe he wouldn't have to waste a valuable Jump here. So, his mind still on the grenade, he made a crucial mistake. He ignored Midas' swing, and pushed himself further on his course, prepared to tank the punch of a normal man. But Midas was no normal man. As soon as the fist made contact with his carapace, Ebon realized his mistake. A chill ran through his veins, and he felt the power sucked from his body. A Leeching. He mentally cursed. Thankfully, he had taken a large load of voidlight before approaching the garrison, and the contact was short. His body reeled with the strange sensation, but he couldn't afford to waste time on a past mistake. His momentum took him past Midas, and as soon as he recovered, he spun around, took aim, and threw an obsidian knife directly at Midas' belt - hoping to detonate the grenade, and trap the constable. Limel, New Hallandren, Garrison "Uhh..." Limel looked blankly in the direction Midas had run off in. "Probably towards the danger." He looked at Starseeker worriedly. "Which is, personally, somewhere I'd rather not be myself." "My name's Limel. You're Cayansa, right?" Limel brightened up at the radiant's next question. "Yes! Ralkalest, also known as aluminum. Resistant to any and all forms of investiture, and the best way to secure an impenetrable space." Except its clearly not impenetrable, since something got in, his subconscious whispered. @KnightSkye Reforged

      Through the Living Hope

It’s a bit slower these days. There’s a big crowd at the moment so it’d be a good time to rejoin probably

  3. Ebonaryle, New Hallandren, Garrison As the rope was suddenly pulled back, Ebon held tight to his dagger as his arm was wrenched toward Midas. With his superhuman strength, he was able to hold on, but as the last strands let go, he saw a chip of obsidian fly away with them. He growled, and strengthened his Rhythm. As Midas smashed the grenade in front of him, Ebon knew what was coming - the Crimson Breath used similar tech - and so he immediately dove to the side, rolling towards the wall and just barely avoiding the mesh that would have adhered to his plate. Recovering quickly, now only a few meters in front of Midas, he leapt - prepared to stab his knives into his sides and shift before the killing blow.
  4. Limel, New Hallandren, Garrison Limel guided the others through the fog. Seconds passed, and for a bit, he worried he was taking them in the wrong direction. But then the smoke parted, and the wall was there. Coughing and covering his eyes, he ran over to a circular gate and pressed his palm to it. The device read his signature, and parted to allow them in. Once they were all in, the metal door shut behind them. There was little smoke inside. They were standing in a brightly lit corridor, with heavy alarms going off. Somewhere nearby, Limel heard a scream, and felt his spine straighten. He turned to the others just in time to see Midas run off. Limel didn't know where he was going, but had no intention of following him. Midas would head straight towards the danger; Limel didn't very much like that idea, thank you very much. So instead, he looked at the radiants clustered around him, and feeling distinctly overwhelmed, tried to give a reassuring smile. Ebonaryle, New Hallandren, Garrison Ebon stopped as the Awakener turned a corner before him. He smiled. Finally, a challenge. Ebon reached down to his hip, ripping out his second dagger from where it was stabbed into his flesh. His blood spurted out onto the floor, and the pain cleared his vision. Ebon adapted a defensive stance. As much as he would like to enjoy this fight, his time was still running out. It would only be a matter of time before the Crimson Breath came for the operative. So this would need to be quick. The rope-dart came flashing at him, and Ebon lunged forward, slipping underneath it and slashing up with his daggers to slice the awakened weapon. Then he rolled, and ran towards Midas.
  5. Ebonaryle, New Hallandren, Garrison Ebon waited till the outer walls turned to smoke, and shifted. In his transported form, he could view the environment around him as he slipped from the roof to the floor and into the smoke, a dim light among the flickering flames no one would think to look twice at. He heard the screams of the constables, saw their forms racing through the fog. Saw them race towards Lux. Despite him, he felt a weird hope for the boy to escape. Even weirder was when he realized the thought of Lux being interrogated hadn’t even crossed his mind. After a matter of seconds, Ebon reached the interior wall. Lined with aluminum for this very purpose, Lux hadn’t been able to affect it. Ebon watched as a gate opened in the wall. Four guards ran out of it, decked in armor. Two carried guns. As the last one moved to close the door, Ebon wrapped around his legs and slipped through the crack before it sealed. Then the door clicked shut behind him, and he reformed. Ebon looked around. In here, there was little smoke. It was a well lit passageway, and alarms were going off. His mind flashed back to the warehouse. The explosion. He had to move. Ebon began walking, then running down the corridor. There was no point in hiding anymore. Their cameras had already detected him; with more time, he could’ve disarmed them, but time was not on his side. He turned a corner. The first officer he reached wasn’t alerted of his presence, and let out a yelp as the knife was buried in her back. The second - a scribe, he looked like - tried to run, but Ebon was on him in a second. He noticed something around the body’s neck, and pulled it off to get a closer look. It was a tag, with the officer’s face on it. Ebon flipped it over. Another picture, of the officer, smiling, standing next to a little girl. Ebon ripped the picture out, and pulled out the slip tucked in behind it. A map of the garrison. He smiled, and began to run towards the holding cells. Footsteps chased him. The alarms continued to ring, louder and louder. Limel, New Hallandren, Garrison Limel glanced quickly through all his notes. ”Yes. Could you please describe the Fused’s physical appearance with as much detail as possible?” He flipped to a blank page in his notes, and leaned forward attently. Then the walls turned to smoke. As the others all looked around, Limel jumped. Then he remembered the procedure. ”Everyone, follow me!” No one heard him. He had to raise his voice. He took a deep breath, then yelled. “LISTEN.” Everyone turned to him. Huh. His cheeks blushed. That had worked. ”Don’t panic. The garrison is prepared to face this kind of threat. While this is inconvenient, I assure you, the situation is under control. We just need to follow procedure.” The manual instructions came out of his mouth in a flood, as his mind raced. What was it they had to do again? Oh, yes. “I will guide you to the core of the garrison. It is lined with aluminum, and protected. Follow me.” Limel looked at the anxious faces, then at the smoke and light around them. It was daunting. Gripping his notes as stiffly as he could in his sweaty hands, wishing he’d brought a bag, Limel began to walk into the fog. @KnightSkye Reforged@Through The Living KSauce@Through the Living Ink@Koloss17 I think Midas is still over here
  6. Oof gotta pass on this one Spec doc, pretty please
  7. As Lati and Réva kept talking, Ver looked around the new environment. They were all suddenly within a meadow, surrounded by a grove of trees. And yet, as Ver payed close attention, the air beyond the trees seemed to shimmer. As if it wasn't real. Was this truly happening? Or was it all just in his head, some sort of extended response to Oxymoron's message? Or was even that just a glitch? He chose to believe this was truly happening. But he did not lower his guard, for he was filled with the sinking sensation that someone - or something - had brought them here. A suspect for that someone first presented itself in the form of the figure that had eluded him before, in his post-message haze. As soon as Ver's vision fell upon him, a phrase blasted into his head. Well that's just offensive. Calling me 'that', cmon. I have a name ya know. Storm. Another mindreader. Ver projected a message into his own consciousness, towards the creature. And by what name shall I call you? Ver snapped back to their conversation, and thought for a second. "I suppose I could try..." he said sheepishly. He didn't know where Lati was at the moment, but he extended an arm for her. "If you'd like me to try to identify anything acting upon you, I need to make contact. It'll hurt for me, but only a little." @Through The Living Glass@Through the Living Hope@Through The Living Coder@TwinStorm While he waited, he also looked around for Rane.
  8. Ebonaryle, New Hallandren, New Hallandren Garrison Ebon saw Lux arrive, and began to hum the Rhythm of Executions. Other Fused used it rarely, only for when the blood was so close it could be tasted. To Ebon, it was second nature. And today, there would be blood. "Listen," he calmly commanded Lux. "See that door?" He nodded towards the gates of the garrison. "I need you to go over there, and make the biggest distraction you can." He finally turned to the boy Radiant. "You may begin as soon as you'd like."

  12. “Ohh…” Ver paused. He had been expecting one of their friends; Jidah, Owen maybe. Rhyme. He had tried them all already. All of the chips he had placed on them had gone dark, the same as the one on Réva had until now - he had never managed to get one on Lati. ”Réva, I’d love to, but… I don’t know who she is.”
  13. Ver gasped as the sensation burned him. It hurt, but in the pain, it was so, so real. Slowly, he reactivated his vision to look around. ”Lati?” The broken word left his mouth sounding dry. As he looked around, he saw oddly that the environment had changed. For some reason, the world of storms he had walked was gone, replaced with a light, treed meadow. Some birds chirped in the distance. Ver struggled to understand. It he didn’t dream. Could he be dead, or his mind controlled? He shoved the thoughts out of his head. He didn’t care. He was here, and the others were here too. Ver turned to the man who had suddenly appeared. His clothing was unusual, nothing Ver recognized. But his words cracked through his meditations. ”Help? Yes, I need help. Help.” He had come here looking for help. Açila. The planet was still dying. The Cloud was still there. Could he still save it? A part of him wanted to ignore it, to forget about it. But his conscience wouldn’t allow that. Back to the present. ”Who… are you, exactly?” Ver got up, and turned to her. ”Hello, Réva. It’s been a while. What… happened to you guys?” As he looked at them, Ver kept an eye on Rane and the Fox, who now stood discussing near a log nearby.
  14. As Ver slowly regained a sense of reality, he felt his vision swim. Within him, his code worked frantically, trying to piece things together. A being, with a knife of darkness. A hooded figure, standing at the edge of his vision. The knife approaching. Oxy... Oxymoron was dead. By the Framework, the goddamn Primal Oxymoron was dead. No, not just Oxymoron... they all were. Ver lay in the rain, shaken. In his databooks, the Primals were immortal. They transcended time, incarnations of the Framework itself. Beings of myth, until he had met one, that short time in which his existence had begun to make sense. Oxymoron had seemed insane, and yet, Ver had found a kinship in him when he stood against the Cloud. In that moment, he had seemed so human, so tangible... and now he was gone. The rain continued to pour. Oxymoron had sent out a final message, Ver concluded. Why he had received it, so powerfully, he could not fathom. But something in the energy had unlocked a piece of his consciousness he hadn't been able to access before - his memories from Before. In a phenomenon Ver didn't know any other agent of the Cloud to display - not that he really knew any others - he couldn't remember anything from before That Day. He knew the logs were there, he could feel them; they just weren't his to access. But the force of Oxy's message had broken the walls that held them back, and for a second, he had tasted them - before something pushed them back again. And now, they would not leave him alone. The taste had made him hunger. Ver shook his head. No, no, no. No, he couldn't think about that now. He needed to survive. He needed to... what was that. A voice. Ver choked out a phantom sob. Lati wasn't here. No, she couldn't be. She had vanished, along with the others, into the nothing when the Others arrived. He had seen it, right before his eyes. They were talking, and then the explosions began. The barrier went up, and Ver screamed, but he was too late. The others fell away, and then they came for him, banishing him to this damned world of storms and thunder. But the voice didn't go away, and there was another voice with it. It sounded like... Réva's. They were talking about... someone's mom? No, that didn't make sense. Ver shakingly raised an arm, reaching out into the downpour, hoping to feel the burning that would mean she was real. Oh, Singularity, he hoped she was real.
  15. Ebonaryle, Mistkeep, Wickwillow Manor Ebon watched the arrival of the creature, chills running down his carapace as it spoke. It unnerved him, but as with many things in the Alleyverse, he had grown used to Belias' oddities. In a twisted way, it helped him to think of them in similar terms as Odium's own abominations - ones Ebon had only recently begun to see in their true nature. Belias was simply a mysterious, unbound Unmade. Or at least, that was possible to process. With a curt nod of gratitude - Ebon knew no greater thanks would sway Belias in his favor - he stepped through the doorway. For an instant, as he hung between the gates, Ebon felt as if he was suspended in a void - the chill air of nowhere caressing his rough flesh. Then he emerged on the other side, and breathed. The air in New Hallandren was different. Generally cleaner, but now, it carried an ashy tinge - remnant of the earlier explosion. This close to the garrison, it was more important than ever for Ebon to remain unseen - but thankfully, from the looks of the alley Belias had deposited them in, they had emerged on the back of the complex. A quick scaling of the nearest wall and creeping to the edge of the roof confirmed it. Here, he was more exposed than he would generally choose to be - anyone looking down from a taller building nearby would be able to see him. But there was no better option now, not with a boy Radiant to drag around, and the situation demanded hurriedness, not calculation. Some bystanders frequented the street, but not many. Ebon turned around on the roof, staying low, waiting for Lux to join him. In his head, a plan was beginning to form. @Through The Living Coder
  16. For anyone who cares here's the link to the Worldbuilding+ thread, which includes, as expected, a lot of established Worldbuilding alongside a detailed plot summary of 130 pages of RP:
  17. At that comment, Ver felt a tinge of a phantom smirk pulling at the side of his face. Welcome in his current state of sorrow. He walked over to Rane, standing over him so he could be heard over the storm. "When I gained consciousness a couple of weeks ago - I'm not exactly sure how long it has been - I was an Antivirus of the Cloud, Agent of an intergalactic civilization dedicated to protecting the Framework and exterminating the threats of viruses, beings that interfere with the fabric of our world. Then I met a group of extraordinary individuals, and realized my overlords were evil. I broke free, and tried to organize a resistance against them." He looked down, and his next words carried spite. "As you can see, that didn't work out great for me." Ver was about to ask Rane where he was from, and if he could find them a shelter, when something crashed through his consciousness. He released a screech as his void-body contorted, overrun with a massive surge of energy. For an instant, he felt true pain. Pain as he had never felt. Then the instant was over, and he was somewhere else. He was looking out the eyes of another. A being, carrying a knife of such darkness even Ver could not comprehend, smiled and walked towards him. Lying on the ground, he felt fear turn his circuits cold. And then he heard the voice. "Someone has claimed the power of the darkness. 'that' killed me." OXY... it was Oxy. Oxy... NO. "Well that's just offensive. Calling me 'that', cmon. I have a name ya know." Ver screamed one last time, and the vision collapsed. He didn't immediately return to the real world. No, as the pain faded, Ver's consciousness found itself hurled through a stream of visions and sensations. Then they solidified. A newly created Antivirus, Agent 209845 stood before the Singularity. Before an enormous, pure white mass, it bowed down to receive it's first instruction. "The Framework is ours. Protect it." The vision faded. The new agents were paraded out onto the deck of a ship. 209845 stepped past the others to look over the edge, and saw it. A planet, consumed by an inconceivable storm of darkness that roiled over its surface, begging to escape. It released rhythms of hunger, of pain, of begging. Once again, 209845 bowed. The darkness smiled. ... Ver came to on the rainy mud, and glitched. He screamed, jumping up, seeing a terrified man before him. Who was that? He prepared his zapper, began to stalk towards him menacingly, prepared to Destroy, until he recognized Rane. Ver stumbled back. Then he fell back on the floor, sat on a rock, and wept.
  18. But I thought this sounded better… Also, I’d like to keep my final 90 day name change, so I think I’ll leave it as is
