  1. *hugs* I don’t know. But it isn’t your fault. It isn’t really anyone’s. I know how friends can be hard. But maybe, just maybe, they face similar dilemmas. Or maybe they don’t, and you need to stop holding yourself to their unfair standards. Cause you’re awesome the way you are.
  2. Alright Sorry everyone for the delay (and the inactivity last round, I had life stuff going on) Adam entered the communal area as the sun set shaken, but confident. He picked at his food alone as the others began to explain their daily experiences, his mind elsewhere. Adam had a... different approach to investigation than most people. It made him good; but it was also why many of his employers were often frustrated with him. He worked off of his feelings. And today, Adam just hadn't felt like doing any investigating. Instead, he had stayed at the base camp. He had taken a walk, thought, and finally, he had gone into the cabin of another. Ever since his session last night, Adam had been intrigued by the psychologist. And so today, while the others were out exploring, he had stayed behind and gone through the doctor's tent, searching for anything of interest about his co-worker. While the thrill of the experience was a little much for him, what he had found didn't particularly alarm him. So... yeah. I stayed behind and snooped in Polly's tent (sorry Polly, but you are objectively the most dangerous seeming person here). I wasn't planning on sharing this, but since the Return Anew wincon was only discovered now, I think that likely means that we were all on the same side in the first round. I don't want to share exactly what type of stuff I found, cause I don't want to give away the extent of my power for obvious reasons, but suffice it to say Polly isn't as dangerous as we all think she is, or at least, that's the impression I got from my investigation. He listened with interest to the discussions of the so called doppelgangers, in particular the comments of the Biologist. While Adam did find it possible that the Biologist would be so open regarding her findings even as a doppelganger, either as an elaborate clearing tactic or through sheer naivete, he found it more likely that she was innocent thus far. As for the others... it seemed these doppelgangers would only be active from this moment forth. That meant people couldn't be judged for their actions in the past; only for their behavior in the future. Adam wasn't particularly affected by the revelation of the existence of the doppelgangers. They were told strange things would happen here; he had expected something similar. If anything, it was a little thrilling. Like a delivery on a promise.
  3. Thanks It’s not different people, it’s like… different masks. You behave differently, and show different things. *listens* *hugs tight* I guess But that is another confusing thing How can I feel so hopeless about myself, yet care so much about others? I believe the things I say here. But they all seem so small sometimes. And I just don’t know. I guess maybe you’re right. *hugs* You’re awesome, Hawks. Never forget that.
  4. Thanks *hugs* I know I sorta invalidated some of my advice a little earlier But I KNOW you’re wrong about people always abandoning you How? Because there’re people I care about People I would never abandon but maybe I’m wrong As for not knowing well that’s the human curse, isn’t it? At the end of the day, we’re living beings We evolved to survive, reproduce, and die And so we feel things we cannot explain We know things we cannot justify Or maybe those are just the lies we tell ourselves But if they’re our reality does it matter?
  5. *hugs* Because we aren't feelingless, emotionless rocks .... I don't normally do these, but: rant of my own
  6. Whoops Okay, I've had a busy time recently, but I agree with most of the sentiments expressed here I think we should first test out what's going on here, and then try and figure out how our different roles play into this No Vote
  7. 209845 payed dim attention to their conversation. Elan seemed to know things 209845 had no idea existed... something it was used to by this point, but no less intrigued by. 209845 continued to make its way towards the Ambassador, a large dark blob in the other end of the tunnel whose smoky tendrils extended across the cavern. It couldn't do anything against them; but perhaps it could find a way to deal with the Ambassador from up close. 209845 attempted to make its way down the battlefield without drawing attention, but that idea soon dissolved. It took a look at its surroundings; the antiviruses were all busy with the viruses, and the majority of the sentinels were trying to make their way over to the party. The majority. Not all of them. 209845 was able to squeeze or slam its way through the first couple sentinels that attempted to get in its way, but it soon realized that it didn't have the stamina to take on this many. So it called on the viruses, attuning a new rhythm. It didn't like taking defenders away from the party, but dealing with the Ambassador was more important. And Jidah could fend for herself. Pulsing to the voices of the very beings it was born to destroy, it raised its arm and pointed. And the viruses came. Like a flood, they began to abandon their previous targets and tear a path down the tunnel, clearing space for 209845 to continue its march. ... The Ambassador extended its tendrils, and it Saw. It was gifted with a unique ability no other Cloud member had; the ability to drill into the minds of others, and the cognitive capacities to control them. The Ambassador felt pleasure as it identified its first target; a triple of beings standing together near the mouth of the virus chamber. Individual minds, they united to create a single force. Chaos. Delicious. With a driving hunger, the Ambassador drove its tendrils straight into the minds of the tri-being. Inside, it was met with vastness. Perfect. It injected a sliver of compliance, just barely enough to get the job done but go unnoticed, and began to probe the depths of these minds. "GREETINGS," it projected. "OH MIGHTY ONE. ON BEHALF OF THE CLOUD, I EXTEND MY SINCEREST APOLOGIES FOR THIS SITUATION." @SpiritOfWrath As Jidah, Lati, and Calix conversed, with Réva standing by, groups of Cloud sentinels attempted to approach them. The sentinels each had jellyfish-like bodies, but made of the same void-like substance as 209845, and their tentacles glitched in and out of existence. In the chaos of the battle, the sentinels kept being knocked down by vicious viruses, that seemed to instinctually protect the party. Then the viruses left, rallying to 209845's call. And the party was left undefended. The sentinels swooped in like a flock of vultures, circling the four beings. One by one, they began to lash out, testing the waters.
  8. Ooh! I missed this yesterday, but I'm probably feeling like an ok shrimp right now. Nothing special, but not really bad, either. *hugs* Oof. My parents are a little similar; they don't want me interacting with anyone I don't know in person over the internet. Of course, your situation is completely different from mine. I don't really know what to say. But I know you're strong, Shatter. You can get through this. I believe in you. *hugshugshugshugshugshugshugshugs* *also hugs* Stupid school system Well I don't know how much this helps But that is 9^9999999 times better than anything I could ever draw (which means its awesome)
  9. … Not me writing my character to be a little insane…
  10. Yup And there’re two sides to this Polly is prob the most powerful person here, so if she IS an elim, then she is a dangerous threat But on the other hand, if she ISN’T an elim, then she’s a valuable asset to us villas I don’t really want to claim role abilities. Besides the potential for people lying, it could also just create a hit list for the elims to take powerful roles down one by one Don’t love how aggressive @RoyalBeeMage is being @Ashbringer, do we really not need to exe the elims to win? I haven’t scoured the rules well, but if so, we don’t want to waste lives considering the small amount of us there are
  11. Wrath's interference only inflamed the situation. The two sides crashed against each other like waves breaking on a rocky coast, and the battle commenced. The tunnel began to take on a red glow as the various antiviruses, which made up two thirds of the Cloud force, activated Instant Kill Mode in unison. While they began to quickly decimate the viruses, the sheer mass of their opponents kept them busy and distracted from the main party. Besides the antivirus foot soldiers, the force also seemed to include a slew of sentinels, with their floating bodies, outlets, with their power-renewing abilities, and... 209845's eyes opened in fear as it realized a Cloud Ambassador had arrived as part of the force. The Ambassador, with its dark tendrils, began to reach into the minds of Spirit, Of, Wrath, and Oxy. 209845 narrowed its visor. That one had to be dealt with, and fast. If the Ambassador took control of the beings, the party's chances of making it out of here alive plummeted from low to impossible. It steeled itself, then began to make its way over to the dark form. It still felt the pull of the voice within it screaming to fight, to kill, but this time, it seemed easier to resist. Perhaps it was because this time, 209845 felt more at peace with its actions. And it had another target to deal with. As the blade formed in her outstretched hand, a trio of Cloud sentinels began to make their way to her position. The sentinel's bodies were shaped similarly to jellyfish, if jellyfish had spikes for tentacles. As they approached Jidah, one of them lashed out with its spikes, probing her defenses.
  12. The two other antiviruses rushed forward towards her and Elan, grabbing each one of them and restraining them. "Come with u-u-u-us," spoke the first antivirus, "and you wi-i-ill not be ha-a-armed." 256889 stopped before the being, registering surprise. A normal mortal should not have been able to detect its presence from behind it. This being must be related to the Web. 2056889 followed its instructions, and didn't interact with the man. Instead, it just stayed floating there, observing the events unfold. 209845 chuckled inside. Oh, yes. That is most certainly sufficient. 209845 flailed a little more for good measure, and 207660 immediately rushed forward to help it. "Wai-i-i-i-it!" 207660 pressed it's palm to the invisible barrier, and for an instant, it fell. It was only for an instant. A window in time so small, only an agent of the Cloud could take advantage of the collapse. It was exactly what 209845 needed. As soon as the barrier was dropped, 209845 suddenly abandoned its act, lurching forward and breaking loose of the imaginary chains. 207660 released a squeal as it was tackled to the floor. 209845 wrapped its arms around its counterpart's head, pushing them both completely into the outside of the barrier just before it was raised once more. 209845 grimaced. Dazh may have burned its existing connection with the Cloud, but nothing stopped 209845 from making new ones. If anything, Dazh's changes proved useful in this moment. They took away 209845's inhibitions. The failsafes that prevented it from acting against one of its own. Failsafes that 207660 still had active. As the pair fell to the tunnel ground, 209845 forced its consciousness onto 207660's mind, and its victim was powerless to stop it. From an outside perspective, the two identical forms grappled in the rock and dirt, indistinguishable from one another. But the true battle wasn't fought in the caves; it was fought inside of 207660's mind. 209845 experienced a rush as it hacked into 207660's thoughts, its knowledge infinitely expanded for an instant before it deafened the empty noise. Right before that, however, it noticed 207660 seemed to have expansive memory records. Something to consider another time. There. 209845 reached 207660's control center, and began sifting through its protocols. Only then did 207660 react. "Who... What are you doing!?" 209845 tried to excuse itself. "I.. I don't know... they forced me in here somehow! Please, help me!" "But, how... wait... STOP TOUCHING THAT!" 209845 finally received a burst of resistance from its opponent, blocking it from accessing its connections. Interesting. So THAT was what the Cloud was interested in. Of course, 209845 had predicted as such. It's plan hinged upon it. Instead of relenting, 209845 continued to apply pressure on that field, hoping 207660 would keep its attention on it. "You must be an imposter. No agent of the Cloud would betray their kind. But your knowledge... how did you access this body?" "I am no imposter. The Cloud is wrong about this; I am serving the greater good." Without removing any pressure, 209845 began to sift through its own memories. It didn't fear any counterattack; 207660 would not be capable of such. Cloud agents weren't supposed to be physically capable of infighting. It was dimly aware of an urgent help message being transmitted out of 207660, but ignored it. All subtlety was gone now. All that mattered was speed. "The Cloud is perfect. I know not how you gained this body, but you will never breach my defenses. In attacking me, you have doomed yourself and your cohort. In a matter of minutes, the Cloud will be here to destroy you all!" "The Cloud is not as perfect as they make themselves out to be. And you have made a grave mistake, my brother. For your defenses are my own." In a sudden burst of energy, 209845 created a new connection between itself and 207660, and pushed a memory through. 207660 screamed, and while its defense on its communication center stayed rigid, all the rest of its attention was consumed by the vision. 209845 smirked. The Sun tended to have that effect. Taking advantage of the sudden opportunity, 209845 pulled out of the communication center and redirected its consciousness somewhere else. Somewhere weak. 207660's power center was flooded with energy; 209845 sifted through it all, searching quickly. Time. It was running out of time... there! 209845 pushed 207660's sleep switch, and for an instant, both consciousnesses brimmed with power. Then one went dark. For the first time in what seemed like an eternity, 209845 took a second to relax. The resistance was gone. It could breath. Then it got back to work. 209845 returned to the communication center, this time nearly devoid of defenses, and sifted through them until it found the connection with Cloud command. It grabbed the connection, and absorbed it. "Agent 207660, please respond! Agent 207660-" "This is agent 207660. The incident submitted earlier was a false alarm. Repeat, a FALSE ALARM. Call of forces." "Wait a second, agent. Confirming." Shoot. "Agent, why does sentinel 256889 claim to witness something different?" 209845 locked eyes with the sentinel, only now recognizing its presence. Well, there went another plan. Why did they seem to always fall apart so easily? "Will get back to you later." "No, agent don't-" 209845 turned its attention back to the current situation. It had to act, and fast. 209845 locked eyes with Jidah just in time to see her begin to teleport. It was too late to reach her - if it didn't do something soon, Jidah would die attempting to do this. And so, 209845 pulled on a different piece of 207660's consciousness to lower the barrier in this area, just in time for Jidah to get across. It then locked the barrier open, a new idea forming. 209845 barely had time to breathe a sigh of relief at Jidah's safe transportation before it was tackled from behind. It fell to the floor as it grappled with the other two antiviruses, who had observed the fall of 207660. As the others around them (*cough* Elan, Jidah, Lati, Of, Oxy, literally everybody *cough*) discussed, the trio scuffled in the dirt. It was a difficult fight, and yet 209845 had something to fight for. And so, after a couple minutes of combat, it emerged on top. Just as the cavern they all stood in was suddenly flooded by a brilliant white light. The light faded, revealing an army of Cloud agents streaming into the tunnel. Decimated, exhausted, and itching for another fight, 209845 smiled. For 209845 had brought its own army. In a scream of bloodlust, hundreds upon hundreds of viruses ran past it, charging straight at the Cloud forces. An unstoppable force, they flowed around 209845 and its allies like a river around a rock, graceful as a million gazelles. Glorious. Beautiful. All during its fight with the antiviruses, 209845 had been transmitting a silent rhythm, one it had learned only recently but felt instinctively. The virus Rhythm of War. In the center of the tunnel, the two armies clashed. And all Hell broke loose. 13. Adam liked the dark. There was something soothing about the blindness, the nothing. He pondered that as he sat on the roof of the squat building, legs swinging over the abyss. In the dark. It was odd that he should love the void so, after it had taken his sister. He still remembered the memory of her death, still felt her heavy form in his arms as she let out her final breath. In the dark. The memory was not one of sadness. Nor was it one of grief, pain, or fear. When he thought back on it, he felt only peace. Perfection. In the dark. Adam wasn’t worried to see the psychologist. He knew he wasn’t okay. He had been sent on this mission anyway. He was the best Command had to offer, and they knew it. And so he sat here now, on the roof of the squat building, legs swinging over the abyss. In the dark. Always in the dark. Okay! Time to get back into this I’m not 100% sure how this is going to work, but I’ll figure it out Yes Bold indeed…

  15. 207660 seemed to freeze for a second, and 209845 knew it was consulting with a higher official. 209845 held its breath; this decision could make the difference between a potentially peaceful resolution to this and a… not so peaceful one. Eventually, 207660 stopped its conversation and responded. ”Regardless of your knowledge, the Cloud must take you into custody for both your protection and that of this world.” 207660 gestured towards the visible group, and the other two antiviruses began to move to apprehend them. 209845 breathed a sigh of relief. A sigh of relief that was soon shattered. Shoot. Well, there went 209845’s original plan. The antiviruses jump at the voices, looking around for their sources. ”No! You cannot destroy the barrier. Reveal yourselves!” Acting on an impulse, 209845 suddenly stepped out of Jidah’s shield, making itself visible, then pretended to stumble, as if hurt. ”Help!” It exclaimed. “These mortals have taken me captive! Let me through!” 209845 lurches over to the barrier, pressing its hands against the invisible wall, ignoring the searing pain that burst out as its substance came into contact with the shield. Cloud sentinel 256889 watched Calix go, measuring her movements. Indeed, the being appeared to be of flesh and blood. A mortal. An anomaly. Hundreds of sentinels like 256889 were stationed around the perimeter of the Cloud’s territory. They were instructed not to engage with anomalies, and 256889 was very good at following instructions. It reported the being to Cloud command, then began to silently float after it.
  16. I have successfully infiltrated the ranks of the tall armadas! How should we next proceed, general Hawks?
  17. Hi! Favorite character? Best book? A Hoid fan???
  18. “The barrier is heavily resistant; there is no getting through it that way, bond or no bond.” 209845 saw the being approach from the other side of the barrier, but paid it no heed until Lati and Jidah began approaching it. It followed them, still thinking about the moral dilemma of impersonating another Cloud agent. It didn’t pay attention to its surroundings. That was its mistake. It wasn’t there to warn Lati, Jidah and Oxy to not interact with the wall. It didn’t realize the being in the other side had done so already. It didn’t remind them to keep their voices down. Not until it was too late. ”STOP!” It screamed once it realized what was going on. Yet the warning was futile, as as soon as the words left its form, a trio of beings suddenly emerged racing from around the tunnel on the other side of the barrier. Made of a void-like substance, their humanoid bodies were featureless, with elongated limbs. Antiviruses. Just like 209845. The lead antivirus stepped forward, seemingly not noticing 209845. 209845 was shocked for a second, before remembering it was still hidden within Jidah’s shield. The new visitor and Réva didn’t have the same pleasure. The antivirus turned to them, and spoke with a voice eerily the same as 209845’s. ”This i-i-is 207660, antivi-i-i-irus of the Cloud. You ha-ave upset the barrie-e-e-e-er. Explain, or be dele-e-e-ted.” @Spark of Hope@Through The Living Glass@Bird Furious@CoderDrag0n8@SpiritOfWrath@Ancient Elantrian
