Ebonaryle, New Hallandren, Crater Ebon kept an eye on the surrounding area as he followed Kai. "We call ourselves the nex-im. Husked Ones. It's a great power, reserved only for... the strongest." Odium's most loyal, the voice in his head whispered. Ebon spared a glance for the boy in Mistborn attire. The sight was almost.. amusing. As he rested under the scarred shelter, Ebon watched the Returned's actions with interest. Four radiants: a kind Windrunner, a Returned, a glowing boy and a Thaylen. Quite an odd group, yet for some reason, Ebon didn't feel threatened. Uncomfortable, out of place, but not treatened. It was an intriguing feeling. The mention of police made him snap to attention: Perses would have his hide if he got involved with any authorities. Ebon welcomed the return of the Windrunner, and immediately drew in the Light. He let out a sigh of relief as the power spread through his carapace, healing everywhere it touched. It wasn't perfect, but it nearly completely fixed the burns and erased the pain. In the thousands of times he had taken Voidlight, the feeling never ceased to entrap him. "Thank you." And for the first time in a long time, Ebon truly meant it. Ebon watched Kai's distraction. He stood up. Now was the time to leave. He was healed. Nobody was watching him; even better, there was a massive, glowing distraction. No one would notice his absence. But still... something nagged at him. Was that... guilt? Ebon shook his head. No. Guilt led to foolishness. These people didn't truly care about him... they were just following their instinct. They were foolish. If they knew who he truly was, they wouldn't hesitate to fight him. Ebon... was better off without them. Still, it hurt a little as he slinked away into the ruins, and began looking for a way out. I'm sorry, Kai. @Koloss17

Ebonaryle, New Hallandren, Crater Suddenly, Ebon had an irking feeling. Like he was forgetting something. Like... RUSTS. The meeting with Perses. "I'm sorry... what time is it?" He asked Kai. As he did so, Ebon looked around, beginning to unconsciously incorporate very slight elements of the Rhythm of Panic. Perses had to have heard the explosion. Which meant that, one way or another, he was likely on his way right now. Impatient, Ebon turned again to Kai. "I'm getting worse the longer I stay here. Shall we move somewhere more sheltered?" @KnightSkye Reforged

Ebonaryle, New Hallandren, Crater Ebon pulled his hand away, wincing at the pain the motion sent through him. Funny. He hadn't minded the pain a second ago. Rusts. This man was way too trusting. Ebon was prepared for a trap, yet he seemed... sincere. Interesting. Ebon knew the more he said, the more he risked, but something in Kai's voice made him continue talking. "They stole something from me. A long time ago."

Posts by Guest Users? [Possible Bug]
Hoid Slayer replied to Usseewa's topic in 17th Shard Discussion
Wait, so just to clarify: Posts labeled as "Guest User" are posts by deleted accounts? Or am I understanding something wrong? -
Ebonaryle, New Hallandren, Crater “So Perses didn’t send you to do some dirty work?” The irony almost made Ebon laugh. No, Perses didn’t send him to do some dirty work. He had snuck away from Perses to do his own dirty work. Ebon attuned the Rhythm of Relief. He looked at Kai’s hand, then carefully, almost fighting his own muscles, extended his own and grabbed it with the least strength possible. Ebon looked down at his feet. They were red. But there was something that felt unnatural about wearing a Radiant’s plate. ”I’m alright. Find someone who needs it more. I’ll heal with voidlight anyways, and I have a lot of experience handling pain.” He didn’t intent for that last part to come off as aggressive as it did. For a while, he sat there in the silence. Then, without fully knowing why, he spoke again. ”They’re called the Crimson Breath. The ones who set off the bomb. I… I didn’t know they could do that.” He bowed his head.

Ebonaryle, New Hallandren, Crater Ebon winced at the Windrunner’s reaction. But he was prepared. “I didn’t do this. I followed a suspicious group of people here, and they ambushed me. I fought off most of them, but they set off the bomb. I only survived because I Jumped just in time to avoid the detonation. No one knows I’m here.” Foolish, foolish. Exhaustion finally setting in, Ebon clumsily settled down on a piece of rubble by the Windrunner. He could feel spikes of pain running up his legs as he did so, alongside the heat burning the flesh of his back and haunches. It was agony, but he was used to agony. There was something paradoxically comforting about the pain. And voidlight could fix it all, anyway. ”I’m Ebon, by the way.” He didn’t look at the Radiant, heart racing, facing the crater instead. He was exposed. Bare. A single strike could end him. But for some reason, he chose to trust this enemy. He had left Odium behind. Left all that behind. It was time to see if he could believe it. The anticipation hurt more than the pain anyway.

*squeeze* You have all of my best wishes Hey Akimiko. *squeeze* First off, it is difficult to open up about this type of thing. No one I know personally is on the Shard, but when I first joined this thread I was terrified to admit something because I was scared of people seeing me differently - and I was way less of a Shard figure than you are. But no one turned on me or hated me for it; rather, I received so much support. So I’m glad you told us this. Second: I know what it feels like to feel powerless. It’s not your job to fix everyone’s lives. To save everyone. And never at the expense of yourself. And third: I know this world is better with you in it, Akimiko. You’re an awesome person, and that is something I’m willing to bet on just off the limited interaction I’ve had with you. You mean something to me, a total stranger. As for the dark period you’re going through now… it sucks. It really does. But I promise you, it will pass. I know because it happened for me. It happened for so many of us. Like Hoid says, things get better and worse and better and worse. But the better is always there. Keep walking the tunnel even if you don’t see the light at the end. Cause it’s there. Finally, there’s a book somewhere about suicide. I don’t have it, but someone on this thread shared it a while back, and I feel like everyone should read it or at the very least have access to it. Cause it’s incredible. If anyone knows where to find that book, please let me know. To everyone else: Infinite hugs. I’m not on this thread a lot anymore, but I’m here for all of you. If you’re struggling, you’ve got this. If you’re doing well… that’s awesome, and I wish you the best.

Ebonaryle, New Hallandren, Crater Ebon opened his mouth again, then hesitated. His instincts saw this man as an enemy - but he didn’t have to be. The other Radiant he had come with was going around helping people - one of which, Ebon noted quietly, appeared to be a member of the Crimson Breath he hadn’t killed. That was not a problem he could address now, however; what mattered was that they genuinely seemed to be trying to help. And they didn’t seem to perceive Ebon as a foe. He could use that. There was the problem of the bloody dagger, however. But perhaps… he could talk his way out of this. Ebon looked at his bruises, gunshot wounds, and seared feet. Then he looked back at the Windrunner, now attuning the Rhythm of Satisfaction, and called out. “Some voidlight would certainly be nice!” Hiding his misgivings, Ebon began to approach the stranger.

Ebonaryle, New Hallandren, Crater “Hey! Do you need help!?” The voice rang out as Ebon was almost out of the crater. Rusts. His dagger was still wet in his hand. His instinct was to flee, but he was out of jumps - and there was nowhere to hide. He had no good option. Attuning the rhythm of subservience, Ebon carefully turned to face the newcomer. He was markedly Alethi, tall with long hair. What Ebon noticed first was the uniform - and the aura of Light it carried. A Knight Radiant, Windrunner. Storming wonderful. He made a mental note to remember there was a spren around, somewhere. Ebon forced a smile for the stranger, despite the urge to fight crawling through him. This was a different place. Different rules. But thousands of years of memories were hard to forget. He opened his mouth to respond - and was cut off by a shrill scream. Another Rosharan - Thaylen. Ebon has never interacted much with those, but he did not miss the Light around this one as well. A second Radiabt. Ebon almost laughed at his luck. Thankfully, after catching his glance, the Thaylen seemed to stumble backward in shock, before eventually moving on. Their desperation was amusing to Ebon. He didn’t miss the person speaking to seemingly thin air - at least one spren. Eventually, he turned his attention back TJ the Windrunner. ”I’m alright! Don’t worry about me!” He shouted across the distance, hoping the boy wouldn’t come closer and see the marks of fighting - the blood, both his and his foes’ - on his body. For a second, time froze as he awaited a response. Then the freeze was broken by yet another exclamation. Storming rusts. Ebon had half a mind to scream back and correct the newcomer, but as he looked at him, his face froze. To an outsider, the glitch - physical and in his rhythm - was barely perceptible. He recovered quickly, but his thoughts spun. This was him. The figure who had disappeared minutes ago. Ebon chose to ignore him for now, and await the Radiant’s response. For once, he regretted not alerting Perses of his operation.

Theory: Spook is the Lord Ruler's Descendant
Hoid Slayer replied to Qianweilian's topic in Cosmere Discussion
Wait up, correct me if I’m wrong, but aren’t all Allomancers descended from the Lord Ruler? Like who else took Lerasium? I’m probably wrong -

Ebonaryle, New Hallandren, Crater Ebon reformed to devastation. Normally, he could see and move freely during jumps, but this time… when the light came on, a piercing agony ran through him. He had exited the jump almost instantly - and though the pain was gone, the shadow of it still lingered. Like something was broken. It took a while for Ebon to realize his feet were burning. When he did, the pain snapped him back to reality. It wasn’t the hurt he was worried about - he could heal it with the voidlight back at the Manor - but rather his vulnerability. Ebon was out of jumps. He knew it was how most lived, but to him, it posed a unique weakness. A nakedness, of sorts. After the burn, the next thing Ebon noted was the ash. It swirled all around him, filling his nostrils with the scent of smoke and rubble. It took a second for it to clear, and Ebon to see the true extent of the ruin. Rusts. The crater he stood in stretched fifty meters in diameter. The warehouse was just… gone. And any trace of research with it. But that was not his most pressing concern. As Ebon looked around, he spotted a figure climbing over the lip of the crater… and proceeding to disappear into seemingly thin air. RUSTS. Ebon’s heart raced, and he forced it to come to a logical conclusion. The man must’ve gone into Shadesmar. It was the only explanation. Shaking the figure out of his head, Ebon began limping towards the edge as fast as he could, intending to get as far from this place as possible before anyone else arrived.

One Year Later Present Day Ebonaryle, New Hallandren, Externally Unassuming Warehouse Basement Ebon grunted as he cleanly pulled out the obsidian knife, and the Awakener’s body fell to the ground with a slight thump. He inspected the blade for a second, watching the blood slowly pool in its nooks and crannies and spill off at the edges, before using it to hack away at the ropes wrapped around his torso. Annoying little rusts, those Nalthians. This was the third he’d dealt with today, and while his tough hide resisted most damage, he’d definitely feel the sores for a long time. And he only had a single jump left, a fact he made sure to take note of. He couldn’t afford to be careless, not today. A loud bang sounded nearby, and Ebon returned his attention to his surroundings. The last of the rope fell limp at his feet. Another bang, and the smell of smoke began to reach him. Rusts. He knew exactly what that meant. The Crimson Breath had been unable to stop him from breaking into the lab. So now, they were destroying the evidence. A third bang, and Ebon began to move down the dimly lit corridor, a slow walk at first turning into a run as he got closer and closer to his target. He wasn’t worried about more foes; research centers like this one - hidden in tunnel complexes beneath abandoned warehouses - tended to be lightly defended; this was the toughest one he’d found yet, and he was pretty sure they’d thrown all they had at him in the lobby. All they had wasn’t enough to kill one of Odium‘s greatest warriors. The memories of those Desolations - and even darker times, that world of fire and pain - still rung in his head. Worst of all, the knowledge that he had spent thousands of years fighting the wrong battle. But that was all behind him now. In the past year in the Alleycity, his eyes had been opened. Opened to a world he had never known could exist. Yet after all this time, he was still chasing the same bastards. Bang. Sure enough, as Ebon turned the corner to burst into the flaming lab, all he was met with was a halfhearted ambush by a single scientist armed with a gun he clearly wasn’t experienced enough to use. He got off one shot that bounced off Ebon’s carapace before the Fused lifted him off the ground and crushed his head in his hand. The warm blood trickled through Ebon’s fingers, spared no remorse nor compassion. He had never been the sentimental type. As the remains hit the ground, he heard a whimper from across the room. Immediately, his head snapped just in time to see a face duck behind a counter. Ebon growled, fingering his dagger, and slowly began to pace towards the counter. As he crossed the room, flames lapping in futility at his legs, he spared quick glances at the piles of papers burning all around him. He had been so close this time - but still too late. Always too late. He’d still look through it anyway, scouring for anything that could lead him closer to the heart of the Crimson Breath and the research they had taken from him all those months ago - once he was done with this one distraction. With each step that brought him closer, the whimpering grew a little louder. Ebon almost felt bad for what he was going to do to this man. In a clean motion, Ebon leapt the counter and landed in a crouched position, prepared for an ambush or desperate fleeing. He was met with neither. The thin figure huddled against the wall didn’t even hold a pistol; merely a small, white box, his hand curled around a red lever at its top. Ebon’s instinct was to rush and kill, but something within him caused him to hesitate. Before him, the scientist trembled heavily. His whimpers grew, and his face was wet with tears. He was utterly terrified. So why wasn’t he running? The man looked at Ebon, but didn’t seem to see him. He just shook his head, face twisted in an expression of pain. Slowly, Ebon lowered his knife. For the first time, he was aware of the desperate beat of his heart in his chest. He spread his arms wide, and began to take a step forward- and the scientist shut his eyes tight, face twisted one final time, before pulling the lever. The last thing Ebon saw before entering his last jump was a brilliant white light, consuming everything. Boom. … The sound of the explosion was heard from the Sphere to the Cauldron. The epicenter was vaporized instantly. The surrounding area was a little luckier - much of the mostly abandoned block blown to pieces, destruction spreading far and wide. Those close enough could see the flames of the detonation rising dozens of meters into the sky - the smoke seeming to stain the clouds. @KaladinsSenseOfHumourSpren

I'm not sure What would Perses need doing? A nex-im could be a pretty good enforcer...

So Cosmere time doesn’t matter in the Alleyverse Your character can be from whatever time period you’d like, and can still coexist in the Alleyverse with characters from any other time period
