  1. Darn haha thought I had something. Thanks for the reply. I wonder if he could of been an electrum misting though or possibly steel fering
  2. For sel, it seems elantrians as well as the monks can teleport. Would this be limited to sel or could they use it to travel to other planets in the cosmere? For scadrial, it seems to me that using time bubbles to warp space would be the simplistic way, but you would have to include the southern continent and they're metallic art machines. Imagine creating a duralumin enhanced speed bubble on a normal rocket ship. You travel great distances while you stay in a form of stasis because time has been stretched dramatically while at the same time you create a duralumin enhanced speed bubble on the thruster part of the ship so that they spill tons of energy in a fraction of a second so the moment the bubble drops it's released in one big push. On roshar, one could simply use shardesmar but I theorize that with enough storm light you could bend space with the gravitation surge and enough lashings. On the warbreaker planet you could awaken an engine that doesn't require fuel because it could feed off color. With the tenth heightening it seems that color wouldn't be hard to come by. You could also possibly awaken a sentient pod with the command travel through space. Theories?
  3. My theory is that if you could take the powers from every region on sel and put them into one person, then that would limit the region lock of the powers. Because now the individual has power representation no matter where they go. Basically the entire planet of Sel becomes the region. I speculate that by creating a single person with all the form based magic systems of sel, that the person would in essence create a new power based off the planet itself. Speculations?
  4. Speculation on the breath of everyone being the gaseous form of endowment similar to the mists being of preservation. Or at least the divine breath being of endowment. Seems to me it just fits what we know of godly physical representation. The mists weren't like any other form of weather and were used to empower and even fuel the art of allomancy. Similarly the breaths are different from a normal exhale inhale and have magical properties as the entire magic system is based off it. Could endowment have sacrificed it's gaseous physical half and "endowed" it upon the entire world of warbreaker
  5. It always seemed to me that Tan knew too much about Wax's presence in the prologue of alloy of law. I apologize if this has been theorized already but I am speculating that Tan was a misting. I think he was an Atium misting. This would allow him to see exactly when Wax would try to shoot him so he was able to pull Lessie in front of him just at the right time. I do not know how he got the Atium, but it makes sense to me because he was just to omnisentient about the situation. “Wax fired. In the same instant, Tan yanked Lessie to the right. The shot broke the air, echoing against clay bricks. Lessie’s head jerked back as Wax’s bullet took her just above the right eye. Blood sprayed against the clay wall beside her. She crumpled. Wax stood, frozen, horrified. No … that isn’t the way... It can't... “The best performances,” Tan said, smiling and looking down at Lessie’s figure, “are those that can only be performed once.” Excerpt From: Sanderson, Brandon. “The Alloy of Law.” To me this just screams Atium. Wax and Lessie are to well trained to fall for this. Tan being an Atium misting just fits too perfectly.
  6. So I apologize if this theory has been supported somewhere else but I wanted to get some feedback on this theory I have been having. To start let us remember that Lift can touch and interact with her spren and that she is partially within the cognitive realm, something that was said to be impossible. Secondly Rock and his people have the power to see spren even though they (spren) do not want to be seen. I propose that Rock would be able to touch a spren were he not so reverent to them. I do not think Lift is a decedent of the same race as Rock, but I do suggest that there is a way to make one susceptible to the cognitive realm via shard. Ruin and Preservation created the people in the mist born books, but preservation gave up a piece of himself to give humanity just a tad more preservation than ruin. What if Cultivation can do the same, but on a much more immediate scale. This is assuming that the races on Roshar were created by the three gods cultivation, odium, and honor. I propose that when lift came to the night watcher she was changed to have representation in the cognitive realm and Rock and his people were given this a long time ago. Speculation, Go.
  7. Wow what a grand proposed theory! seriously caught my attention! But I feel that there is just not enough to support it at this time, I do however predict there is something else about him/(maybe her) that Brandon has not clued us in on. I hope for the sake of craziness Renarin is not a girl. I say this because I would like to see him become the next king. Not a warrior like the other man but a thoughtful and rightful heir to the thrown. I have always found him smart and tactical that would make him a better king than anything they've seen. Just the way he handled Wit (hoid) is enough speculation for me.
  8. I agree with the theory that all the lashings have been seen. The ars ancarnum shows that the author assume it works with atmospheric pressure. It's possible it was misnamed. Secondly pressure can force two objects together if the lashing is sprayed on the floor, it creates a bond when you step on it because the lashing forces the foot to be more suceptable to the normal atmosphere pressure. The pressure seems silly but think about how small changes can affect objects. An experiment done with a basket ball lowered into the mid Atlantic trench resulted in it imploding and becoming one of the hardest materials discovered. The pressure was just to much. This could act the same way, maybe the lashing just creates a huge pressure difference and the bound objects aren't affected by suction or even force, but by sheer force per square inch between the two. Thirdly one could ride the winds by controlling gravity. Also airplanes fly simply by using air pressure differences (I'm an aviation major). But I still believe they rode the winds by manipulating their own gravity and flying/falling how ever they wanted. Fourthly, the pressure surge makes sense because the bondsmiths share the surge. Their name is BONDsmith and the surge causes things to become bound. Fifth lay as stated above, wind Spren can bind things briefly, wind Spren or air Spren aka pressure Spren. Sixth, I think the kaladin pressure explosion came because of how he was able to access stormlight more and the energy being released like a damnation being destroyed resulted in a shockwave of energy that was a one time thing And lastly it would make sense that the Honor blade Szeth has would have the full wind runner surges to represent leading the wind runners
  9. Actuall I feel like I remember brandon say that the metal (solid) for of a god is more concentrated and powerful. Rewriting spiritual DNA to make vin a more powerful mistborn. Burning the mists (gas) is a less concentrated body so the mists can't rewrite her spiritual DNA but she can still use the mists to power her powers. I mean the well (liquid) allowed The Lord Ruler to reshape the planet, change his spiritual DNA and so much other stuff. Obviously the order of power goes liquid -> solid -> gas. So no, they do not have to be anything similar and can grant different effects
  10. I think the literal breath used by awakeners is the gas body of endowment. I mean if anything the divine breaths definitely are..
  11. This is true, idk it just seemed more hidden in WoK so I thought this might be more along the line of truth. And seeing as how war is being fought in the east and shinovar to the west is so peaceful I thought it made logical sense... Granted high storms come from the east and have the power to infuse gemstones for surge binding so maybe I'm wrong. But isn't honor dead so his body would cease to grow like preservation? In that case the gem hearts would be more like a tribute to odium. After all the pershendi are collecting them for more than just currency
  12. I would of thought then to be odium because the chasm fiends live in the east where odium lies and honor lived in the west or am I wrong on that
  13. Hey everyone I love the ideas bouncing around here! If I could add to the conversation I would be more than happy to hear feedback First off, I always thought of aluminum as a pure metal. It cant be affected by steel or iron, protects from zinc and brass, and wipes away the metals in your body. I also think aluminum might wipe toxins and poisons digested, but I do not think I would tell someone that if I discovered how to do it, and I would most certainly not want to test it, so it is probably unknown. Having said that, I think being pure spiritually means having a sense of peace, and knowing just where you fit in the Universe. I do not know if any of you are religious, but have you ever felt so sure of yourself, being who you are and having that profound sense of spiritual enlightenment? That is what I always thought you could store. Lets say a Buddhist monk or a Priest stores their sense of spiritual identity, which would already be really high, they would then become less assure of themselves and less clear about who they were and what their purpose was in life. Then on a dark day where they are questioning their faith and life, they tap that reserve of identity and find revelation and spiritual peace. Finding their "true self" and knowing where they belong and who they are. Make sense? I love the complex ideas for combat, and usefulness, but I always pictured aluminum as the pure metal while duralumin was the enhancement metal. Aluminum allows you to find purity spiritually which does not involve fighting but rather faith and enlightenment. Like Duralumin allows you to store something similar but instead of your identity, your sense of inner self, you store your connection to other people, making you more sure of yourself in relation with them. Push and pull. Connection with others verses faith in yourself. Second of all I want to speculate on the fact that gold shows the past, but more along of what you could of changed in the past leading to the present. Not necessarily seeing into another dimension, but looking back at a fork in the road in time. Seeing how things could have happened. Electrum shows your future, but more along the lines of what you might do at the present fork in the road. showing you slightly what you could do. It would make sense that gold would show something more profound, because the past is easier to interpret, while the future is an uncertainty and why you cannot see as far into the future with electrum as you can in the past with gold. Make sense? Thanks guys
  14. Atium allows one to see into the future, it stores age, and can be used as a wild card spike... Lerasium rewrites spiritual web DNA to make one a mistborn. The other characteristics are unknown. I say this because seeing into the future and storing temporal youth seem to go together well as being temporal powers, but a wild card spike does not. Maybe this is because Hemuralgy is special with Atium the physical body of ruin. Lerasium in this case would be special with allomancy and its feruchemy and hemuralgy would be categorized together If I had to guess, I would speculate the following: - that a lerasium spike would steal a trait, while leaving the original body intact. Like it would steal a power, but not harm the person spiritually. Just copy the effect. I.E. you spike a thug, gain the power to burn pewter, but they retain the ability. It would go along with the idea of preservation. No idea if there would be a limit on what it could steal. Feruchemically speaking then, I would guess you could store something that preserves life. Atium minds store youth, counteracting the effects of aging (AKA the effects of ruin on your body). So in that logic a lerasium mind would store something that counters the effects of preservation on your body. (Love (emotion)?, fertility?, instinct?, etc?) just speculations haha thanks for reading
  15. So despite my failure at mastering the english language, and the confusion on the three states of matter being interchangeable, I am curious if anyone else has any theories on other bodies or physical sources of powers for gods. For example: I wonder what can be said about warbreaker. Is it possible that breath is quite literally the vapor body of endowment? I already speculate on the physical being the tears of edgli. No idea where the shardpool is though. My other question is that do physical bodies grow? I only realized this today, but atium grew... If the tears of edgli are indeed the physical body and I am not saying they are, then they would grow too. I understand that lerasium could not grow because of the weakening shards power due to trapping ruin, but if they are like atium beads then that would mean they grew too. Now, I am not claiming that my theory is correct, but I would be an idiot to throw away the idea If it is indeed possible, then I would begin to think of other rare and valuable items that grew in the shard worlds. This lead me immediately to jump to gemhearts from way of kings. They grow in the heart of chasmfiends and are extremely valuable. The war is almost revolving around them. They can also be used in coordination with the magic system. I.E. they can be infused with storm light. Could they be a body of a shard? Thank you for taking the time to comment guys. I really do just like talking to people about the crazy theories in my head. I do not mind being corrected and I hope you know I just really enjoy these books and love the scientific theory behind it all. I know none of my information is confirmed but its fun to speculate right? Thanks again
  16. Haha wow thanks for all the info. Sorry about that but yes variable X would be that Brandon said a mistborn who burns lerasium puts that power on top of what they already have. And also that TLR didn't get his power this way but just used the well to make himself super powerful. But he answered this very matter of fact like and not at all elusive so I am guessing there is no trick to it? The Y variable would be the book personalization around 8:30ish? I can't remember when we finally got through the line. Thank you for helping keep me official. Also a mistborn would not be limited this means because if vin burned lerasium that power equivalent to Elends would be put on top of what she already has. So basically she would be the equal to elend plus herself. Showing that the power does not max out. I mean hemuralgy does the same thing and they stack powers. Thanks again everyone. I want to be as official as I can and stay a strong voice in this forum. I would never post anything I didn't know as a confirmation.
  17. No offense taken haha I just wanted to start some interesting topics. And my spelling is bad, I tend to skip over names when reading rather than reading them phonetically. But thank you haha.
  18. Also your assumptions are that mistborn not made with lerastrium fit this but a lerastrium made mistborn like Elend can pass down the lerastrium in his genetics. Vin is a descendant of a lerastrium mistborn. Don't assume they work differently. The power just ends up diluting over generations
  19. I have the confirmation from Brandon Sanderson in person. I was at the steelheart signing on sep 24 at Barnes and noble. My brother was next to me when he asked "what happens when a mistborn burns lerastrium" Brandon said "it would add that power on too of what they already have" my brother then asked "is that how The Lord ruler was so powerful like with his soothing?" And Brandon said "no The Lord ruler actually just made himself really strong when he held the power at the well of ascension." So I can't cite this but I have it confirmed in person from the author himself so...
  20. Physical Liquid Gas Each shard has a physical body represented in the form of one of these states. We know the following: Shard of Preservation, Liquid - Well of Ascension Physical - Lerastrium Gas- Normal mists Shard of Ruin Liquid - pool at the bottom of the pits of Hathsin Physical - Atium Gas - black smoke in one of the rooms next to the WoA Shard of Devotion Liquid - lake pond that the hoed are brought to outside Elantris in order to die We also know that Leras was preservations name and Ati was ruins name (Lerastrium and Atium) We also know that Aona was devotions name and Skai was Dominions name (AonDor and the other magic) Having stated this information I will know form my theories... Theory: The Shard of Endowment has a physical body represented as the tears of Edji. This would be because they are the source for dye (color) which fuels the magic system of Awakening. This could also mean Edji could be Endowments name. Theory: Shardpools are actually the source of the gods power, where the liquid collects, the physical grows, and the gas originates. Theory: another state of matter is plasma, is that a body of a shard? Theory: is it possible to collect the gas/liquid/solid of a god and create a different state? For example, Compressing the mists from Mistborn into a liquid creating your own shard-cup, a little pool of ascension that you could use to grow Lerastrium beads and become a mistborn. I ask this because it would make the next trilogy of mistborn books interesting because you could essentially grow mistborn. Theory: the combining of shards such as Harmony could create a harmonious body (sazedium) news mists etc... Theory: Hoid is collecting bodies of gods and splinters of gods, and helping the shards to return to full power in order to collect these items so that he could recreate Adonalism. Supported by when he whispered to Kaladin in WoK the tibet about how he wondered if you break a man into many pieces and put him back together again, would he be the same person. Thanks for speculating!
  21. First) -- TLR actually was way more powerful an allomancer then you could imagine. Yes he could compound all of his feruchemy, but his strength derives from (I got this information straight from brandon) the fact that he made himself super powerful when he used the WoA. It was basically the equivalent of burning multiple lerastrium beads. And yes, I have it confirmed that lerastrium just adds the power to an existing mistborn. Second) -- The law of Hemuralgic decay states that power is lost even if its given immediately to another person. It is the net negative art after all. So having said this, you might be able to give an inquisitor multiple spikes, but you do have a limited number of bind points on a single body. Plus only one power may be stolen at a time. For example a mistborn will only yield a misting power not all of them. But on a level of strength, I would put my money on the mistborn feruchemist, because of the concepts of hemuralgic decay and the fact that the spikes become a weakness. With unlimited feruchemical health, the battle could go on forever, but the spikes can be pulled out, thus removing the powers and ending the battle
  22. No I don't think he used feruchemy to fuel allomancy. Not only have we not been told it can do that but we know that those metals hadn't been discovered yet. And for hemuralgy he had one spike that ruin tried to influence him through but didn't use any others. His allomancy came directly from the well. He didn't need lerastrium. He just gave himself allomancy from the WOA as if he had burned hundreds of lerastrium. And he just compounded for feruchemy. This would make anyone invincible.
  23. I believe it's more than just not fearing him. You have to have no doubt in your mind what so ever that your not afraid of him. Any hint or even a passed feeling would ruin it. For example David didn't fear steelheart killing him but he'd grown up fearing him so he couldn't kill him. There has to be no fear in the slightest. Not just courage. Even epics who challenged him are paranoid creatures. By that standard the would fear anything and seeing steelheart is supposed to make you feel afraid. David's father hurt him because David's father admired steelheart and never once feared him. It's like seeing superman, would you be afraid? Nervous maybe but not afraid. Steelheart set up his rule in a way that made it so everyone has feared him at some point. It was steelheart who killed himself. Arrogance wouldn't give him any reason to be afraid of himself of all people. Steelheart knew his weakness which is why he made propaganda and showed how scary he was. Any fear he created was another victory in hiding his weakness. Literally nobody wasn't afraid of him.
  24. I think David is human, he can be gifted profs powers first off and he didn't fail the machine test. I think he is just skilled at figuring out epics. This mindset would make him better at being gifted and he would be good at discovering epics weaknesses. But still just human
  25. Asked Brandon at the rithmatist signing. He simply said it was because kandra had made up the rule themselves that they would not go near inquisitors. They knew that some inquisitors might be originally soothers or rioters on top of the inquisitor hemuralgy powers. This would make those inquisitors strong enough to control a kandra. Rather than risk having they're secret rediscovered because they got to close to a double soothing inquisitors, they made up a rule in they're contract that everyone knows that they won't go near inquisitors, even if the employers don't know why. Not as crafty of an answer as we might of hoped but it's the one Brandon gave me personally.
