So, at the very end, we learn that Odium found a version of Dalinar, the “Blackthorn”. An evil, war hungry monster. But more importantly, an Honor aligned monster, as well as a Retribution aligned monster. Before this, we learn that Honor created a consciousness for Tanavast right after abandoning him and Odium killing him. In the Dalinar situation, Honor left Dalinar and Odium immediately killed him… very similar to what happened to Tanavast and stemming from the same debate. But there are some key differences. Dalinar, in this situation, left Honor - even after Honor offered to forgive him. Honor likes Dalinar. Honor has had all the time in the world to watch him, and wants Dalinar back. The Blackthorn did not disappear after Retribution was forged, so it is not of Stormlight. But it could be of Warlight - Honor wished to give Dalinar the same thing they gave Tanavast, but became part of Taravangian before it could. So it recreated Dalinar, but the part of him that it most agreed with. The hateful though oath abiding monster that burnt the Rift. So I think the Blackthorn is a result of Taravangian’s power already acting autonomously. Already straining against Taravangian, and exposing weakness that even Dalinar thought would take decades to even start to show. This is just a stray thought, so… I’m accepting (constructive, please) criticism.

Also, you would be my granddaughter’s cousin. Maybe. Well, if I am Haly’s grandfather, there is relation, but very strained. -
HEY HOW COME I WASNT PINGED! This seems so interesting! I agree here. The whole point of this thread is to highlight different styles of writing, so giving something concrete kinda defeats the purpose.

Uninvested Future Organization (UFO)
Through the Living Wrath replied to Stormlightsong's topic in The Alleyverse
Weaponry was what I put b4 i knew what would be available… It is what I put down in the possessions section. Being more specific, the IMP would be an anti-Stormlight IMP, as that seems to have the most myriad use. The thing about the baton is that it is much more discrete than a canon. An assassin’s weapon, lighter and more mobile. Perhaps the Baron, for most effectiveness, would be something like a jagged/hooked blade instead of a baton. Rid them of their investiture and then deal the most damage possible. (I know it’s a bit strange that my character would have that, but my idea rn is that this stems from his rage against those who most misuse their powers, people who would be much too protected to just bust in for an all-out assault.) -

Releasing him earlier was bad because Rayse already knew how to use the Shard, he knew it’s nuances and limitations and that made him that much more dangerous. What most of the characters didn’t realize - and what took a while for Wit to realize - is that Taravangian doesn’t. So giving him time trapped in one place is a move to his favor. Instead of the isolation on Roshar being a means of postponing the problem, it is allowing a weakened opponent to gain his bearings and prepare without the interference of others. The Shards also cannot rely on the deal Honor made with Odium to remain bound, and now that he has two Shards, they are forced to deal with the problem. Even though two shards is stronger than one, against the however many others, it wouldn’t make that much of a difference. Two Shards isn’t actually that powerful comparatively. What’s infinity times two? All it means is the need an extra Shard to deal with him. Also, Honor. Honor is changing. It is slowly shifting from Oaths, to Adolin’s definition of promises. It is becoming good, which will also help in the fight. Finally, Retribution has no problem combining with other Shards. Sure, the two current Shards might not fight, but what happens if he combines with a Shard like Harmony?

Uninvested Future Organization (UFO)
Through the Living Wrath replied to Stormlightsong's topic in The Alleyverse
Character: Possessions: As long as all this is okay, I was thinking an Anti-Investiture IMP, and maybe a weaker, smaller Anti-Investiture Cannon, an Anti-Investiture Hand Cannon, maybe. As a scientist, I think it's safe to say I would have some prototypes, I was thinking something like Anti-Tone boosted aluminum alloy batons to supply to assassins (The aluminum would vibrate to the antitone). Aluminum bullets, for protection. Agent type: scientist -
On another note, welcome to the poison swamp! (Well, the equivalent. Have any of y'all played Dark Souls?) This is more Dragonheir... Her senses started to dim, though the effect was not nearly as pronounced as before. After a small time, a man ran close by, seeming as if he were screaming. Only a faint voice could be heard. His eyes seemed to lock on to Aela, and he approached. "Run!" Though the word seemed strained, as if proclaimed in an effort to shake the world, it came out as just barely a whisper. He just barely saw a man approach Aela and heard a whisper from him. Stay low. Fear will be in the darkest portions of the land before you. This "land" was a wasteland, a scar on reality itself. Flames had taken it, and the result was a barren plane expanding endlessly. Smoke rose from the land, fires curiously still burning. It created a veil of constant occlusion, smoke threatening to choke the senses. And the smell. A charcoal, endless and threatening, constantly attempting to seize attention. "This is what I fight, Cole. I fight, not just Fear, but Rage. Those who seek to take what I have created."

The Battle for the Sandwich
Through the Living Wrath replied to AltonicKeys's topic in Forum Games & Random Stuff
I run in fear from It as Prof tries to find a weakness. He fails, but Afterimage manages to protect me for a while. I watch, mildly entertained, then steal the The Sandwich. I TAKE THAT SANDWICH AND RETURN IT TO ITS RIGHTFUL OWNER, @AltonicKeys I protest, then slap Of, but am unable to get the Sandwich back *pout* I flee to the Dreamscape, hoping I’m safe there. Once there, I get sorely needed rest, until Hunter snipes at me.- 13683 replies
