    Ryna found the mayor in his small council room, hunched over ledger papers and the stub of a candle. He looked up, brusque, and suspicious. “You’re not from here,” he said. “I’m not,” Ryna agreed. “But I’ve seen what’s happening to your woods.” She set the Codex on the table and pressed her palm to its cover. The pages unfurled a quiet vision—trees felled, springs running thin, a downstream field failing the next season. It wasn’t prophecy. It was consequence, laid plain. The mayor’s jaw tightened. “Those trees keep us warm and pay the mill. What do you want? To tell us to freeze and starve?” “No.” Ryna’s voice stayed steady. “I want you to stop cutting the oldest growth. Leave the dome alone. I’ll help you replace what you lose: show you better planting cycles, alternative timber sources, and this is crucial, how protecting these trees keeps your water and your crops healthy. You keep your income; you avoid collapse next year.” She spoke facts simply: short-term loss countered by longer-term gain, trade routes they hadn’t considered, proof from the Codex of past collapses and recoveries. She named the decision-makers, the market the village relied on, and the single compromise that would save both sides. The mayor stared at the vision, then at Ryna. The hard lines around his eyes softened. “If you’re right, we’ll lose less than we think. Show me the plan in writing. If it works, the cutters stop.” Ryna nodded once, already noting the terms in the Codex. “I’ll draft it. You call the council tomorrow. I’ll meet them—calmly. No threats. Practical solutions.” He stood, slow but resolved. “Do it. For the village.” oh, that was a lot... I'm going to take a break while I plan.

She tapped the Codex lightly. “Some may help, some may hinder. Allies and obstacles… both can appear where you least expect them.” She adjusted the book in her arms, settling her stance. “Stay observant. Every person, every choice matters. If I misjudge even one, it could change everything.” Her eyes flicked to the village in the distance. “We’ll begin with the plan… but be ready for anything.” Some of the TLT ones... Hey! Wait a sec. Erryin, Taeidin, Dark Cep and The Traveler are in a forest. Which forest? Where? Also... The Traveller and The Chronicler. hehehe

You’ll help me observe from the forest, quietly. No interference yet.” She paused, letting the plan sink in. “Second, we find leverage. A reason for them to stop cutting trees that benefits them, not just you. Humans respond to gain or loss, not morality.” “Finally,” she continued, her tone steady, “we approach carefully. I’ll speak with them directly, backed by what you’ve observed. We won’t fight. We’ll persuade.” She folded her arms, eyes scanning the nymphs and sprites. “Stick to this plan. Patience, precision, and caution. Anything else risks the forest—and you.” We should probably start combining some story threads. I'll see what I can do.

We’ll need patience… and leverage. Nothing works without a strategy.” Her tone left no doubt. She was not acting on impulse. This would be methodical.

Their voices carried more fear than they wanted to admit, and it settled heavy in her chest. “So that’s it,” she said slowly, her tone quieter, almost thoughtful. “Your homes are being torn apart, and you can’t push back… so you bring me here, hoping I’ll do what you can’t.” She paused, glancing between them, her expression unreadable. “You want me to fight for you. Thing is, I don't like fighting. I'll have a debate, but I refuse to fight.”
