  1. Happy birthday, Cryptic.

  2. I have a feeling this droid won't like me.
  3. What have you been doing? Evidently, you enjoy it.
  4. The Reversal sounds a bit like the Home Depot theme.
  5. 104 Your number has been invalidated by the Ministry of Numerical Enumeration.
  6. Sorry about the impoliteness. I tend to get a bit annoyed and grumpy when I see information I believe is incorrect, and especially so for what I believe is misinformation. You have my deepest apologies. There is a difference between content processing, policy moderation, and training foundation models on private user data. For example, an AI search feature does require analysis and indexing (which are not the same as training), and moderation systems do exist for TOS reasons (For that writer, it depends on what she was writing. I'd love a screenshot of her screen to see the message.). Also, text-to-speech has been a thing since 1968. None of this leads me to believe that Google is training Gemini on my Grade 7 school projects, though. Given Google's past history with aggressive data collection and privacy violations, some people (such as you) do not trust their assurances that they keep this limited to user-based consent. I will concede that you do have some points, but some of your conclusions go beyond what I think is happening. Also, when I look at the fines, it seems most of the 4.24 billion dollar fines from 2025 is a 3.5 billion dollar fine from the European Union for illegally favouring its own digital advertising services. Do I think Google is all noble? Hell no. But do I think they are harvesting my info? No. Not really.

Ah @Aeoryi. But my team lost to the Devils, and I must see them beat. Also it would be cool if Canada got the Cup this time. This is the lesser evil.

  12. Indeed. I generally dislike AI. I see it as a tool, not a wheelchair. If you use it as a wheelchair for long enough, you will start to forget how to walk.
  13. Yeah. What you say is either EXTREMELY exaggerated or Google is setting itself up for the biggest class action lawsuit in Canadian history. This would violate the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act. If you wish to read PIPEDA (https://laws-lois.justice.gc.ca/eng/acts/P-8.6/index.html)
  14. You should keep in steady contact, encourage sleep/eating/basic routine, etc. If it gets worse, involve adults or whichever organization is in your area that deals with these cases. My main question is whether they are suicidal? If they are, this is way out of your field. You'd need to get adults or the government involved.
  15. Do you have any proof whatsoever that Google accesses Google Drive, Photos, Docs, etc., to take that info and feed it to Gemini? Because I find that highly unlikely and it stinks to high heaven of misinformation. From what I see is that Google can only access your docs if you enable Gemini. If they could do this they'd violate PIPEDA in Canada. "We do not use your Workspace data to train or improve the underlying generative AI and large language models ... outside of Workspace without permission." https://workspace.google.com/blog/identity-and-security/protecting-your-data-era-generative-ai
  16. is it possible just to pop in and say "hi, how ya doin?" it can help more than you think
  17. Oh yeah. Of course. There's a thin line between being manipulative and helping steer them away from a bad decision. Being manipulative can cause even worse feelings in the person. What I meant is you should use every resource possible to help. You wish to help, not harm.
  18. 30,414,093,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000? 55
  19. I understand not being able to vocalise what you're thinking. *hugs* You seem to be the opposite of me. I try to find an answer for everything instead of saying idk, and I get things wrong. Not everything is your fault. Not everything is terrible. *hugs* It's ok.'ve been questioning all my decisions lately. It's ok to question a little, but doing it over and over and over and over makes it worse. Sometimes you need to pick a path, and whenever your mind says, 'This decision was horrible' (and it will. It's very believable), you have to force yourself through it. So pick a path. I know what this feels like. Much of what I'm thinking, I can't write because my mind can't translate it, but yeah. *hugs* Personally, I believe suicide is one of the worst things someone can do. Suicide means you give up because you feel the world doesn't need you, or you have failed. Sure, the world is a cold, dark place, BUT you can find the warmth there. It hurts the people around you. They feel horrible and responsible. Yeah. You must attempt to reconnect them to obligations, relationships, and consequences they’ve emotionally lost sight of. I learned from my father that the worst thing someone can do is stand aside while someone dies. You have the moral imperative and duty as a human being to preserve, protect, and nurture life. Hell, if that doesn't work, you get the police and paramedics and parens patriae goes into effect.
