    The corner of Rebus's mouth turns up. "Only the final point applies to me, but that is the important one. It wouldn't be a parley otherwise." Rebus listens, fingers steepled. "Interesting. I could help you, Ruia, and meet you, Sequence. Not now, of course."

    "It's true, though I haven't met with any of you either. I hope you wouldn't mind if I stayed." He smiles brightly, cider flowing up a line of utility fog and into his glass. "That is probably wise." Rebus says, taking a sip of cider. "Did you hear Omen is searching for interns?"

    Rebus shakes his head, smiling. "No, I am not. I am here for a similar reason you are." He's sitting across from Ruia, and was talking to her when the newcomers appeared. @Halcyon The Only

    Rebus nods. "Good. If you adopt and utilize it, I gain pretty significant legitimacy." Rebus looks up. "Hello. Great minds think alike, it seems. Can I get you something to drink?"

    I can’t tell if this is smug or not… Rebus downs the rest of his wine, then twirls the glass as he talks. “Dualities are intriguing because my magic is the product of them. I’ve been looking for new polarities, though such things take time and support.” Alright, that works. What about the note on Malan’s body that says “the Machination sends its regards”? Malan could honestly have hired some of them, if you want… @TwinStorm Rebus continues practicing with his Plotblade, gone past holograms and into fighting physical utility fog constructs. He’s pretty good; alternating between one and two hands to slash and stab, directing spears of utility fog to stab the opponents or send him into the air, blocking with walls of utility fog or the armor on his forearms.

    Rebus nods, then thinks. “I suppose there are more evil aims: the selfish, the petty, the flawed. But that is not what Malevolence aspires for, nor a cause of existential threats. There are many dualities here; perhaps I can find an interesting one.” Kion looks at the insects with suspicion, trying to stay far away from them. He could fix that, but it would be a waste of magic. What happened to Atredies? He should be next to Rebus outside the castle, right?

    The corner of his mouth turns up. “Sure, sure. Who knows, maybe they like ash. But the Witherlord is presumably one of those people, so you should go do something about Malevolence. I don’t think he’s been told there’s more than one kind of evil; the ones who want to rule the world versus the ones who want to destroy it.” Kion squints into the distance. “Perhaps… I suppose there aren’t many other reasons for lights.”

    *cackling* I think the Plotblade quest went well… Both results of it should be very interesting.

    Rebus’s Narration (presumably) floods back into him. He grins, dismissing and resummoning the Plotblade, then repeating his practice swings. He alternates holding the blade with one and two hands, leaping on plumes of utility fog as he cuts down holographic figures. “I could get used to this… though I should practice.” Yeah, I hear waving around a flashlight easily bright enough to weld with is pretty cathartic. “Perhaps. I’m not sure your trick will work.” He drinks more wine to hide his slight smirk, though of course any Narrator could see it described. “I do hope it does, but it wanted to eat my antimatter. I’m not sure any ordinary conceptions of taste or digestion apply to the rabbits.”

    But *lasers* Rebus sips his own wine, smiling to himself. “Perhaps. Mordite is worrying, however. And that rabbit does not parlay. I did try; I thought it would work for me if I promised it food.” Rebus reaches out, not with his hand, but with his mind. You are me now. I am yours, and you are mine. I bond you. The two blades disappear, and coalesce in his hands. One is short and curved dangerously, more a dagger than a sword. The other is long, thin, and ornate, glittering with inner light. One corner of Rebus’s mouth turns up as he brings his hands together, the two Plotblades colliding with a flash of light and burst of noise. They meld into one, long but wide, with a curved twist just before the point for hooking swords or slashing strikes. It has ornate quillions that look sharp themselves, and the relatively long hilt ends in a jewel that tapers to a sharp point. Hello, the sword says in Rebus’s mind. I think this will be an interesting partnership. Rebus smiles broader, swinging the Plotblade to adjust to the balance. Or, truly, to become unadjusted to the claymore, as his fighting style from earlier perfectly matches the blade. “I agree. This will be very interesting.” Wait, Bacon wears a hat? Huh.

    This is a well of unkeyed Plot; it keys to an already existing attribute of you when you bond it. So yeah, this seems good… (though I’m unsure how Atredies is thinking he can get Savior Complex…)

    Rebus walks forwards, trying to determine if both, one, or none are his. He stays half a step behind Atredies, though, thinking that he’s unlikely to backstab Rebus for a blade when he planned to give one away.

    Ah. Rebus walks next to him, trying to see the core of the vortex.

    What about 30 strength though? Rebus shrugs and hits the elevator button.

    Rebus searches the bosses for souls or whatever, then tosses the corpse of the skinny one at the elevator. Rebus steeples his fingers, thinking. “I think you mentioned something…” He takes an egg-sized device from his pocket. “This is a teleportation beacon; activate it if you remember so I can help.”

    “Perhaps, perhaps not. I should not condone attacking the Thread, so I would remind people what you stand for and continue whatever slow burn you’re working on. Just keep Malevolence a dragon and not a starscream. He’s committed three successive betrayals for one plan; I personally trust him less than I could throw the result of whatever physics the Authors are arguing about right now.” He holds up a small hologram of the rabbit after it ate all the Plotblades. “This, though, is especially a problem. It’s trying to summon the Witherlord, and already has access to chaotic darkness. It is also is consumed entirely by hunger, and has no sense of debts or favors.” @SpiritOfWrath @TwinStorm, would you two like to continue the Plotblade quest? I think there was an elevator…

    “Several reasons. If there is only one antagonist, it creates a problem. If there are none, it creates an even worse problem.” “That’s good. Perhaps my preparations around that will pay off. And if he continues doing things, I believe we can find Rebel.” Rebus muses to himself.

    “True, there are things much of the Thread should be concerned about, but their lack of apparency disqualifies them from consideration in this case.” He shrugs. “I can think of five or so threats to the Thread, but none are doing anything threatening. That’s bad.”

    It’s real late, so I’ll continue this conversation tomorrow. Rebus appears, still dressed in his sleek black and white armor. The electrical arcs have stopped, but orange lights - as always - pulse along his long coat and the groves in the armor. He smiles brightly, not showing the lingering sense of mild disappointment and bitterness to non-Narrators. “Ruia. Excellent seeing you, as usual. You did well, with Malevolence and Malan. Have you received your other visitors yet?”

    Your spooky message about Rebus’s Plotblades. How something would pursue you if you took them. Incidentally, Rebel woke up from his resting. @NameIess Ruia hears a soft ringing coming from wherever she stores things as Rebus sends a teleportation request.

    Eh, it’s fine. I was gone all day anyway, and I can reuse my surprises with further foreshadowing. I think Cricket has it still? Do you want to kick off the vengeful curse thing?
