  1. Rebus raised an eyebrow at the nickname. "That person over there was making things turn to ash, and making other people turn things to ash, and almost turned into ash, but we stopped that." "Yes. I am offering you a favor before letting you go, though if you do not want one from me, I would understand that."
  2. "Good. Will this continue to work? It could make a good diversion." Rebel walked towards that back room. "Antagonist, you mean? This Blade is Mastermind combined with Flair, or at least could be split into those two pieces - it doesn't necessarily indicate a specific moral character beyond manipulative." "Perhaps. You've just done a favor to me, after all. I may own you one." Oh wait... Rebus is gonna be sad when he realizes this. I won't have him know, though ordinarily he would. Rebus looks concerned. "Are you alright? I have a much better path than Corruption, if you'd like that." Rebus, who I think Ryss met before, stands behind him. "Symbol is Ruia, the host and potential source of the ash powers know as Corruption."
  3. “You really think that could have worked? Before you say I’m manipulating you, I’d like to note that legitimate persuasion is a form of manipulation, and one I’d like to try before I do anything more distasteful. That being said, I need your help to bring Ruia back to life, uncorrupted.”
  4. He didn’t turn off the lockdown, just the restraints. He has more plans, for both Ruia and Tam. @Halcyon The Only Rebus crossed to where Ruia had been, looking for the two Blades he knew to be there.
  5. Wait, what about the teleportation lockdown? He really did like her, even if he was also trying to get this very thing to happen.
  6. Rebus bowed his head, looking pained. Magnificent Bastard’s glow dimmed, almost as if it agrees. “Thank you, Ruia. You did the right thing, in the end. I will do my utmost to bring you back.”
  7. “Yes. I might even be trying to manipulate you right now. Of course, telling you that implies I’m not. I believe that Plotblade would allow the return of Ruia even if she did fully disintegrate, so I am willing to wait.”
  8. He smirks, though a bit alarmed Tam didn’t follow his instructions. “It is. Kelsier, David Xanitos, Mysterio, honestly even Malevolence. Even if you hate their guts, the sheer brilliance with which they do things makes them admirable. There’s always another secret, as you know.” Thanks. I guess it doesn’t feel nearly as good when you’re the one the trap springs on. Don’t worry, though, there are enough traps to go around. “There are four places it can go. Nowhere, a new body it creates, Malevolence, and myself. Turning it back or letting her die might both cause that transfer. Ruia, can you sever the ties?”
  9. The Plotblade grew brighter, Rebus still smirking. “Do you know what this Blade makes me? It’s summed up quite well by a compilation of tropes you’ll likely never read. The wielder of this blade is brilliant, cunning, charismatic, and sometimes evil. The wielder, and me always, is a Magnificent Bastard. It means I have a plan, and that it will work. It means I’ve already won, not just here but everywhere, and you simply haven’t noticed yet. It means I’m so spectacular, so charismatic, so legitimately kind when it suits me, that you don’t hate me even if I am evil. It means manipulating a walking apocalypse into giving me the power to manipulate another apocalypse into giving up its own goal to try to kill me. It means you should turn Ruia back, right now.”
  10. Rebus turned to her, and winked. “Give it one moment.” He said, allowing the utility fog to let go of her. Well, that’s what he’s telling it, at least. You won’t find a new successor if you kill her.
  11. Rebus knows he can’t - turning her is better for both the story and him. “You were - stabbing her with that, now? Malevolence goes nova, the caverns go nova, I go nova. You’d be taking out the one piece holding up the whole balance.” Rebus sighed. Rebus brought his attention inside him. She won’t do it. I am her successor, and I know what I need to do.
  12. Hee hee hee. I literally cannot stop smiling - this has been building a long time. Rebus shrugged extravagantly, his sword, glowing brightly, appearing in his hand. “I can’t have you taking down Ruia. I do like you, but she’s a much better match for me. And really, this is simply an opportunity. I kept my Plotblade secret for a reason. Do you want to know what it is?” “Your magic is afraid of me. It knows I have a better path to safety, survival, greatness.”
  13. Have no fear… “I’m sorry, Tam. Thank you, though. This was easier than I expected. Security? Lock down Tam, please.” Rebus smiled, the tower immediately shutting off teleportation within its grounds. “Ruia, as I said, I consider you a friend. I’m sure you wouldn’t object to my use of the security system. And Tam, I am truly sorry.”
  14. “Tam, you are legitimately not helping. Ruia, I do consider you a friend. I have the same feelings as you, but I’m worried you’ll self destruct. Tam, can you revert Entoturis? I want to show the needle isn’t as bad as she fears.” Rebel waits a second, allowing them to weaken each other in the brawl. Rebus furrows his brow. “The storyline should line up for me to tell people in just a moment…”
  15. Rebel leapt into the air on a plume of utility fog, jumping over the circle. Can you make them fight over something? “I suppose. If we can even borrow Regression, we can fix any issues we cause.” He summons his Plotblade, placing it on the table. “Here - we can scan this while we wait for Malevolence.” Heh heh heh. , if you know what I mean. “I built this place.” He said, unperturbed. “I have a few things I wish to do here. Maybe I will learn a lesson, save someone I honestly consider a friend, or keep something dangerous out of the wrong hands.”
  16. Sure, though I won’t be on too much this afternoon. Should I be with @Through The Living Glass, or talk to Ruia somewhere else? Rebus coalesced near Ruia. “They’re trying to bring you back down? It might be wise to free your mind of outside influences, but forcing you to lose your power won’t do what they want.”
  17. Oh. That is the opposite of useless; Rebus will have to rob Meat instead.
  18. Hmmm. What was Lady Bug’s? Because Rebus is kinda looking for a not-too-important Plotblade to mess with.
  19. What about Mentor? The cloud crumbled. “This is a safe pla… neeyoom.”
  20. Wait, she has two Plotblades? A glowing cloud appeared, warbling in anger, “This is a safe place! Violence is forbidden legally, technologically, mentally, Narratively, and magically!”
  21. Rebel darted forwards, pressing the advantage with another swing. “You cannot fight me.” “I do have one, which we can scan. Maybe it matches the theories, or maybe it prompts new ones. But if we want to experiment on one, we should use another. I know of Nonsense, though perhaps that blade is not the best for finding patterns.”
  22. “I’ll do it, then. All of you! If you want a new leader, get over here! If you want to keep your old one, surrender and maybe I won’t kill him!”
