    The Render keeps coming, ignoring the parts of its “body” that are trapped by the roots. Instead, it pulls material from the ground and keeps coming, though slowed greatly. Kion sees the Render, and goes to run, hoping it’s still slow enough to escape from. Then, he remembers something. “Narration!” he cries, pushing as much magic as he can through the focus provided by that truly powerful word. Things stop, or rather they seem to. The world is words - has been words since before he came there - and Kion reads them, through his own words. Words were power, after all, or at least focuses for it. Words flowed out of him, caused by his thoughts, but they were not the words he needed; not the words that these strange Narrators used. He could perhaps never be a narrator, at least without some strange event, but there were many around. Narration was words, and you could fit many words in a short time. So Kion thought and explained how to keep the Render trapped. He thought of the fact that it was not objects, but rather what was keeping them together. If one object got out, the Render could put more together around it. And worse, any prison that was an object could be made part of its body, although it would have to be bend and shattered into pieces that could be used to move. But perhaps these Narrators could fix that, or at least prevent it for a time. As Kion cast his spell, the Render got stronger, more aware, as it always did. And Kion knew this, with his strange new knowledge of the words that made things. Reaching the point where he needed to, Kion cast his spell “Narration!” and made sure he would stay in the time he was. Then, his awareness snapped back to things instead of words, and he ran. Oh, fun. What events do you do? I’m a distance swimmer myself, although a bit out of practice.

    Nick cocks his head. “Why would you use blood? There’s plenty of plants around here.” He pulls a limb off a nearby tree and crumples it, then hands it to Tenth.

    The driver brings the vehicle to a halt, skidding a bit before stopping. “I could ask the same of you! How did you even get here - this is a research only conservation area?”

    Nick nods. “It’s essentially a glorified plant; you need to water it for it to grow. If you want it to go faster you can add anything that might have carbon. I’d put it somewhere you don’t have protection already; you can tell SIMON how you want it to grow.”

    “So should I just go in there?”

    The Render shifts many of the larger chunks of material it contains around, causing more grinding noises. “Maybe the mage is out.” Meanwhile, Kion, aka the mage, touches the seal on his invitation and arrives at the party. @Sequence The Render, which had wandered a bit away from the entrance, suddenly springs into action, charging towards Kion.

    Shattered remains of the kazoo mixed with confetti and dirt are left behind as the Render keeps walking. “Why not?” I’ll have Kion wait for a bit. I don’t want him getting murdered by the Render, and the Render is probably more interesting at the party anyway.

    Cole sits down, then hears an explosion from within the castle. “Hey Freedom, should I do something about that?”

    The Render waits, and eventually lumbers away, looking for something light, breakable, and sharp. I’d thought Bacon had made a kazoo for each person. Is he still also talking to Kion?

    “Is me now.” The kazoo shatters further, crushed between segments of the Render. “I wait. For mage.” Honestly, the Render might tear up the invitation by accident.

    More grinding noises eminent from the Render. “No. Hunt magic. Mage not here. Mage not anywhere.” The Render turns what passes for its head towards Bacon. “What?”

    Kion blinks. “Goodbye?” He reads over the invitation. “I suppose I have nothing better to do than go to this party.” Bacon welcomed the partygoers with kazoos and confetti. Kion nods. “Because you don’t need focuses, correct?” At the party, the Render touches its kazoo and the telekinesis that holds its body together crunches it to pieces. It doesn’t seem to care.

    Eh, why not. Let’s make Renders somewhat able to talk. The creature is built like a gorilla and mostly made from stone, which is articulated so it can move. A grinding noise emanates from inside it; apparently those articulated joints don’t start that way. Sand, dirt, wood shaving, confetti, and other small debris moves between seams in the rock and on its surface, smoothing it. “Where? How? Must hunt.” The Render turns to lumber off towards Kion, then stops, unable to find his direction. “Where? What happen? Cannot hunt!”

    In that case… When the Render steps on the invitation, it is promptly teleported to Sequence’s World. @Sequence Kion raises an eyebrow. “I’m here because something made me in danger - likely my Render. My Deviation makes it hard to determine what it was, but it also keeps me from getting countered by the Render, if it was indeed what attacked me.” Kion picks an invitation off the ground. “Well, that could be interesting. I’m going to have to wait around for my Render, anyway, so I might as well go.”

    Kion jumps in alarm. “Teleportation!” He disappeared ten seconds beforehand, then never did when he realized it was just confetti and it had come from everywhere. Meanwhile, quite far away, a monster of stone, wood, sand, dirt, and many other things loped along. With a jolt, it sped up a bit mid-stride as far away, Kion cast a spell. It kept running, going right through the cloud of confetti and incorporating it into its body. As it stepped on an invitation, that too, became part of it. But the Render didn’t stop.

    My two cents on the matter is that this might not be the best idea. You’re getting someone who is potentially a mistborn (perhaps a duralumin gnat can burn harmonium, but there’s no way to test it before doing this) to burn an unknown metal at extremely high power. Think about the consequences of duralumin steelpushing without pewter. Or the consequences of tin or iron. Without knowing what harmonium does, you could be causing a massive explosion even if you do burn the metal correctly.

    Kion is a bit perturbed by the sarcastic tone. “I have only been here a few minutes, as far as I’m aware. But thank you for so politely telling me.” Ah, yes, excellent decisions, Bacon. You definitely want a monster stalking you that gets stronger the more magic you use. Kion shakes his head. “You could just do that? I don’t know why you would want to.” As adorable as it was, Tam stopped the mini-conga line. "Just . . . let him eat a sandwich." She made another. "It's a game you've never heard of. I've never played it, myself, but a lot of people enjoy it immensely." “Narration is an excellent focus; perhaps I may try it.” Kion munches on his new sandwich, wary of yet more magical interference. “D&D sounds interesting. You say it has mages? Like Narrators, I assume, not with Renders.”

    Kion bites into the sandwich, nodding in gratitude. “Thank you. You’re called Narrators? Does that make your magic Narration?” *inexplicable cackling* Also I might rename the mages. Eventually. Kion doesn’t jump this time, which is progress. But he does bite his tongue when the sandwich disappears. “TLT, DnD? What are these acronyms for?” “I suppose you also lack a Render? Is floating bundle of murderous, relentless telekinesis not ringing any bells?” Kion goes back to eating the sandwich, wary of it dissipating again. “That’s good. Too many mages are selfish and won’t use what time they do have to help others.” Alright, it’s eleven, so I’m going to sleep. Good night.”

    He eats it hungrily. “I’d assume so. But I wouldn’t want to ask too much of you. Although without Renders… this could change everything. Are you and other mages able to help everyone now?”

    Wow. Kion is doing a lot of being confused. I suppose that’s what happens when you teleport somewhere with different physical laws. He blinks, stunned once again. “You don’t have Renders? Where are they, then?” His stomach rumbles and he realizes just how long it’s been since he last ate. “Since you can apparently do magic with no consequences, may I have toast?”

    I hear Illuminated have dragon-like blood, so that was what I thought you were referring to. Practice is important for better writing. I should reread some of my old projects for ideas, honestly. Kion continues becoming more and more baffled as more people appear. “My name is Kion. Hello, I suppose.” Kion is somehow more confused than before. What has he gotten into? “You’ve never heard of Renders? The creatures that appear when you use magic? The ones that hunt us down always?”

    Wow. That is indeed what I was thinking. Honestly, I might make this my new PfP.

    Kion’s expression at this point is quite amusing, with how baffled he is. “None of you care a bit about Renders? You’re advancing your death for this?”

    Cole nods semi-imperceptibly. “Honestly, Freedom just told me to follow those other people. I can do carpentry or something, as I said.”

    Was it magical sarcasm? Kion is rather bewildered. “How are you this … I don’t know … uncaring? I’m here because I was in danger, so I left. I didn’t care where I went, and here seemed good, so I teleported myself. You say this place is called the Thread?” Huh. Who needs a fourth wall anyway? What do you mean by Draconic? The Illuminated? Kion sighs. “I wouldn’t know. I’m safe for now, though - that’s the important thing. That’s an interesting Deviation.” Kion had honestly stopped being surprised at this point. These strange people are quite irresponsible, teleporting around left and right. Kion gapes. “What are you thinking? And Silence for that!” It’s fine. I can use unread content to catch anything I missed.
